We went on the recommendation of some friends.  The only thing we liked was that our waitress allowed us to sample some beers before deciding which one to order -- and we didn't order any because we didn't like any of them.

    Here's my breakdown:
    (1) It was early Saturday night and it was pretty busy, yet there were only 2 waitresses and 1 of whom (ours) was brand new (young and 3rd night on the job).  She was clearly overwhelmed and wasn't getting any help from the other waitress, whom we saw chatting up her customers (not that in and of itself is a bad thing).

    (2) We ordered a cheeseburger with American cheese and a pork sandwich, both of which were supposed to come with chips.  (BTW, fries are $1 surcharge.)  We got a cheeseburger with Bleu Cheese and chips and a brisket sandwich with fries.  It was obviously someone else's meal, but we were so hungry by this time, we accepted the mistake (not before notifying the waitress to see what can be done).

    (3) The food was not good.  You want good brisket?  Go to Zachary's BBQ in Norristown.  And we can get slightly better burgers for less money at Valley Forge Diner.

    (4) When the bill came, it was full price for the wrong food.  No discount because "Ken the owner left and [our waitress] can't give discounts".

We've been in the Food & Beverage industry before -- this is NOT how you run a restaurant.

Probably the single worst experience of my life. The worst live music ever. Terrible beer selection. Prices are unreasonable for the quality of the place. Horribly unhappy employees. I'm pretty sure whom ever owns this place doesn't know how to run a bar.

Good selection of craft brews. Otherwise not sure how they are getting business. They are the only place I am aware of that cover charges. Stopped by 2 times with others at 8:30  on Friday nights. Trying to cover charge when the band did not start for over one hour. When our group just wanted to stop in for a drink or two who would pay a cover for that. Molly Maguires up the street, overall better place and food menu, never charges a cover for their weekend bands. Stop the cover, improve the menu and you may get those I was with back again.

In the past, I've only frequented the Pickering for drinks on the patio. Last Friday night, we were desperate for some dinner and all the other restaurants were swamped with First Friday participants. We decided to give Pickering a chance and ended up sitting in their dining room area in front of the stage. The service was pretty bad from the start. It took us a good 30 minutes to get our drink orders in. They completely forgot my fiancés meal and the food that did show up was less than stellar. My friend's nachos were stale and my chicken tacos were smothered in aioli to the point where they were practically  inedible. From now on I will just stick to draft beers here. Food and service are clearly not their forte.

Horrible place. it's very dirty and it's filled with a bunch of loud drunks and drug addicts who will continue to ask you if you can lend them a few dollars. Run away from this place

Ahhh this place.  Full of people doing drugs and crackheads live upstairs.  If your lucky you will be harassed by at least one person asking for money cause they spent it all on drugs and if you offer to buy them beer instead they get insulted!! Lol drug addicts. Anyways the bathroom hasn't been cleaned in 10 years and smells like poop and pee 24/7.  I never met the owner but he already seems like a deusche because the kitchen is dirty too.  Unfortunately they have the best craft brews in town but unless you wanna drink with drug addicts and people fresh from rehab this is your place to go.  Ive also had the privilege to witness multiple bar fights here and they are never reported and the bartenders make no effort to call the police either in these events.  All in all this place should be burnt down because it houses drug addicts and criminals, gotta love Phoenixville!!

It's a hole in the wall.   Emphasis on the hole.

Beer was on the pricey side, music was absolutely dreadful.  They did have some interesting brews on tap, which is their one saving grace.

This bar has the best microbrew selection in Phoenixville.  They have 12 beers on tap outside in addition to what they have available inside.

The patio bar is a nice place to hang out, but when it is enclosed in the colder months the acoustics are unappealing since there is nothing outside to absorb the sound.  However, in the warmer months this is one of the more comfortable places to enjoy a cocktail outside in Phoenixville.

Great beer selection at fair prices. Really not into the bands - like, I avoid this place like the plague if I drive up and I hear music outside. They are consistently terrible. Food is ok ... I feel like it was better in the plast. My muscles were overcooked and way too spicy, the spice overpowered any flavor they had. I like heat, but without flavor it's kind of pointless. The bartender who is there the most, Jess, is super cool and great at her job. The atmosphere is good.

Formerly the Mansion House - I really miss how it was prior to the new owners taking over and revamping the place.  This was the last haven that still gave the feel of how Phoenixville bars were back in the day.  But - everything must come to an end, I guess.
The upside is the NICE patio they built last year.  It's literally an outdoor bar with TV and everything one would find inside.  The best news is that it accommodates smoking patrons.  It's nice to have a bar to sit at, while drinking & smoking - as if it were still 1980, all while pleasing the nonsmokers who get to enjoy the clean air inside (with their "white wine spritzers" and whiney, PC attitudes, spouting the words "awesome" and "amazing" in every other sentence)--Ha Ha!
I miss Tony the bartender at the old Mansion House for sure - where a Saturday afternoon happy hour meant a couple of martinis, a plate of potato skins, and great bullshitting about life.....oh and a glass ashtray in front of me!'
    Aaah, the good old days......

Their brew selection is by far one of the best around and top 3 in Phoenixville. Some of the servers aren't really on their A game. I had the one bartender ignore me completely. And I've heard, though the food selection is great, the wait time is NOT so much. But overall, I like Pickering Creek. I love the vibe and the history that comes with it. They do a lot of awesome stuff in the community...so I guess I'll just put in the wait time to get a beer.

Did you know the actual "Sun Dance Kid" used to frequent this place in the 1800's? 5 Stars just for that!

So my first trip out to The Pickering Creek Inn was on St. Patrick's day. BUT, in my defense, it was strictly to see Funk Church perform (which made all the crowd irrelevant in my book).

We walked in to a mob scene served by only 2 bartenders and our first drinks took almost 37 minutes to get (and so we doubled everything). This sucked for me because my friend was getting drinks EXCEPT that he only had a card and no one with half a brain would have left it for the tab with so much chaos. After about 10:00, however, the bar got very "mature" and it was pretty much immediate service. Despite the original wait time, those bartenders were hustling their asses off. I really hope they made a lot of money, because from 8-10, St. Patrick's Revelers made that bar seem more like an insurmountable wall.

The layout is really great for bands the show was a ton of fun! there is a relatively large stage/dance area, a large bar and a great patio. I second other's opinions of the pool table-- a-ok for a bar. Crowd was very diverse and very mixed age-wise, with groups ranging from early 20s to mid 30's/40's to gray-hair and distinguished... The bouncers were pretty awesome, too (special thanks to Steve Holmes for remembering my face and not charging me a second cover when i came back in from the car!)

Considering how crowded it was, I really liked the Pickering Creek Inn, and will be watching for shows that will make it worth heading out to Pheonixville for...

One of the coolest restaurants I have been to!  If you like friendly service, good drinks and great food (not fancy) I would highly recommend this place.  It seems to attract middle age (25-50) year old crowd that likes grateful dead/bob Marley background music.

I have asked many times to make slight changes to my food order and always get a "no problem" response. I have had the pulled pork and mac & cheese with shrimp- both awesome.  Bar chairs could be updated but the owner says outside patio and bar will be opening in spring.

Drink all you want, drink until your heart is content, but don't eat. The menu was pretty basic, and my first thought was a few items, but done right. Yeah, I was wrong.  I got the boar tacos and the wifey got a burger. The tacos were small, a sprinkle of beef and avocado. I can only imagine who ever made these tacos always selected Bare Bone Rations when they played Oregon Trail. The meal came with potato chips and a pickle, meh. My wife's burger was pretty average and it cost 75 cents for additional toppings. At one point smoke was coming out of the kitchen into the bar. I could hear the cook laughing, who do they have back there the Joker?
Here's the good part, the servers are nice and the drinks vary. Pickering Creek has cheap domestic beers to various IPA and hoppy beers. There's outside seating and the bar has a nice feel to it. Pickering Creek hosts live music on the weekends, so it can be entertaining. However, the low score is due to the food being dull, when compared to other places in Phoenixville. I'd go back for the beer, but I'll eat someplace else.

My favorite bar in Phoenixville for sure. Great tap selection, reasonable beer prices.

I used to be a regular for their yuengs and wings special. The wings are excellent. Large wings that aren't fried but grilled with a dry rub and buffalo sauce.  The bartender is really nice and their constantly rotating beer selection is nice.

As for the appearance, it isn't the best. In the summers its a little warm (no central air) and in the winters are a bit chilly.

Overall, it is a decent place.

Went here with some friends, excellent selection of beer.  The band was fun but the punching game in the back was a bit dangerous. :-)

Ate outside for the first time, nice night but they could upgrade the decor and furniture.  Once again, great beer on tap and by the bottle.  Wings and brisket was good.

You're a little odd Pickering Creek, but I think that's ok.

I've been to Pickering Creek a few times now it's definitely a good little spot to grab a couple of drinks.  They have a pool table that is in halfway decent shape for being in a bar.  Even the sticks aren't very beat up which is nice.  It's a standard table, a buck a game and I like that about it.

The beer selection  here is more than adequate and they seem like they rotate their taps fairly frequently.  They have an impressive bottle list but it doesn't seem like they have everything in stock that they claim.  I'm ok with that, their prices are great.

Most recently we played darts and well, that definitely left a little to be desired.  There was a table in front of the dartboard (layout fail) and no chalk board to keep score.  The darts themselves were also massively beat up.  Hopefully they get replaced soon.

There is a small stage in the second room that hosts small live acts.  I think this is a cool feature and I would definitely come back here for some live music.

IT IS HOT AS HELL IN THIS PLACE.  I have no idea if they just didn't turn their AC on, or if it was just broken, but it was only 80 outside and it felt like a swamp in here.  I know that I will not be able to come here in dead of summer because it will just be unbearable.

In summary, good beer, pool, good prices, hot as hell.

The food is not very good, but the beer is AMAZING. Way fun if there is a band.

I stopped here for Wing Wednesday recently. These may have been the best wings I ever ate. And on top of that they were huge. At least double the size of my last "Wing Wednesday" spot for the same price. I got one that I swear was the size of a Boston Market rotisserie chicken.

Pickering Creek also has a really nice beer selection and it seems like it has some friendly 20 and 30 something locals. The bar is spacious with a huge TV right in the center and also seats outside.

Went to a holiday party held at the Pickering Creek Inn. The food was served buffet style. They put out lots of very bland, unappealing food. Greasy potatoes and soggy vegetables, tasteless Tilapia, flavorless chicken and tough beef. But, there was lots of it. When I looked at the regular menu, it was basically sandwiches. So I'm not sure what we were served reflects what they normally put out. But from what we had, the food there is blah!

The beer was good and the live music while very good was a bit loud to allow socializing. The service was good, except when they tried to bill everyone for the booze (which was extra). They'd collect the check then forget who had given it to them when they brought the change or returned the credit card.

This place has a great menu with very delicious food. I have not had a bad meal here ever except that sometimes they seem to be out of menu choices. I hope that means that they get items fresh and sell what they can. Although the food is great, the menu is very small and could use a few new additions. The beer selection? I have to say it has the best selection of draft beers in town. Try the Oatmeal Stout. The only downside to the whole place is that when the new owners took over they forgot about the outdated decor of the place. Imagine going to your favorite hometown bar where you have relaxing booths and cozy corners to talk to friends with and having one of the Golden Girls come in and put her touch to the place. If they ever have a flashback to the 80's party they are all set. Please update the decor people!

    Meh meh meh

Went here last night. Sat outside--the seating was below mediocre. Service was extremely slow because there was only one waitress (poor girl! especially on a friday night).

Drinks took forever to get and I stuck with water. The food was okay. we ordered the wings to start. I had the panini with field greens which was decent. For bar food actually not too bad.
The indoor seating is so outdated and odd. It's quite banquet styled which is just weird. And it was like a sauna in there too!!

Overall, a big meh. This was like, a last resort because the Fitzwater was ridiculously packed

Did not dig this place one bit.  Soggy "panini", fake prosciutto, fishy calamari, dirty fryer, greasy wings, and poor bar service.  Blah!

I have been in Phoenixville for 9 years now and have never had a desire to trek over to The Old Mansion House.  When the new owners took over they spruced the place up a bit (not a ton of changes, still needs work) but they introduced what might be the best micro brew selection in the area.  Micro brews from all over the US dominate the bar taps with local favs like Sly Fox and Victory, and a huge selection of other award winning micros from across the states.  I was there on an all you can eat mussels Wednesday night (in a yummy beer batter sauce) and it was some of the tastiest mussels I've had in a while.  Along with the mussels its topped with fresh cooked veggies in the same beer batter sauce and served with toasted garlic bread.  The beer batter sauce was yummy enough to ask for extra bread to soak up all its glory.  But even better than the mussels I gobbled up was the great beer selection.  If you're a micro brew fan and you're looking for some micro's that you've never tried (or heard about and wanted to try) then the Pickering Creek Inn is your place to be.  I'll reserve a star (up or down) for the next visit when I have a full dinner.   For beer I'd give it a 5 1/2 stars - WOW!

My husband, son and I came here on New Years. The food could not be better. I started off with the warm duck confit ( warm duck, red cabbage, walnuts and goat cheese) The four ingrediants really complimented each other. I can't wait to go back and have again. My husband started off with fried oysters, which were the best he's every eaten, and our son had the caesar salad.  The three of us had the surf and turf. Both the lobster tail and the steak just melted in your mouth. The restaurant has a warm and cozy feel to it. The food is priced good., Check it out you won't be sorry. I don't think you'll find a better place to eat.

Formerly known as The Mansion House.  The new owners completely revamped the place adding an extensive beer menu (many Belgians & Micros).  The menu is full of delicious items.
