Ive had so much fun every night I come here! The servers are great and nice, they give you a free drink on your birthday, DJ John is awesome on Saturday nights (the only nights Ive been) and the place picks up around 11pm and is raging until 2am! We arrive early and hang out and listen to the good music and play some pool (you have to pay to play) and we get a table by the dance floor before the crowd gets big. Never had a dull time and definitely a fun place to go and dance the night away!
Review Source:I love PSA. It's divey and sometimes dirty and the crowd is a ridiculous mix of unpredictable people but that's what makes it so frickin entertaining.
I come to PSA to dance when I don't feel like putting on a tight dress and sky high heels. They play the best hip-hop, old school hip-hop with a little Top 40 thrown in. Throw in the no cover and easy parking and I'm sold when I want a low-maintenance dance night out.
The crowd is a mix. An eclectic blend if you will of all ages, ethnicities and walks of life. I dig it. Some might not. I wouldn't say its the best place to go to meet people but it's spectacularly fun if you go with a group of friends. Dress code is kind of however you want to dress. Some people dress up. Some don't. It's a last stop of the drunken night out for a lot of people too so many come dressed up from elsewhere.
The bar itself is huge. It has an outdoor smoking area with tables, a huge indoor bar area with tables and bar stools, a dance floor, and a pool area off to the side. I kind of love that you can dance, play pool, and just drink and hang out all in one spot.
My boyfriend used to come here on weeknights too for the karaoke and make your own burger type nights. I can't vouch for those but he said those were fun. Said girls are more likely to shut you down and be friendly and talk to you on weeknights haha.
If any of this sounds like your thing, check it out! Also, don't bring drinks on the dance floor because you will get yelled at lol.
They physically threatened me at Pierce Street Annex!!
My good friend invited me to see his band playing here, so I strolled in about 4:45pm on a Sunday. Â I'd never been here before, and was really loving it. Â When I saw the dance floor and big space for the band, I was thinking "Wow, this place is cool. Â I'll definitely come back here."
I had to leave for work, so was only hanging out for 20-30 min, maybe 3 songs. Â When the waitress asked me what I wanted to drink, I told her nothing cause I was leaving short. Â She said ok, and walked away.
Half way through that first song, the elder doorman came over and said I couldn't sit there, as it was a prime seat reserved for paying customers, and if I wanted to stay without buying anything, I'd have to go stand by the bar. Â I told him I was just staying for another song or two, but he started getting tough saying I had to move or leave. Seriously? Â The place was virtually empty, and of those 9 "prime" tables around the dance floor, only 5 had people at them, and one of those 5 was me!
So I moved to a table further back, clearly not being used, to hang out for 10-15 more min, 1 - 2 more songs.
Seriously, by the middle of that very next song, the doorman was back, said I couldn't sit there either. Â Really? Â A virtually empty bar!
He pointed out the signs that said "1 drink minimum or $10 cover charge". Â Ok, well that's fair. Â But it was really dark inside, my first time there, I hadn't seen those signs at all, I never knew about the cover charge, and the waitress never mentioned anything. Â I've been to PLENTY of shows at PLENTY of bars where I've purchased a drink or not. Â Either way, no big deal.
But not a Pierce Street Annex! Â No, no.
So he forces me to move to the bar, having said that's where I had to stand if I wasn't buying a drink. Â Two minutes go by, and I swear this is 100% true, immediately as that song ends, he comes back over to me and says "Your time's up. Â You either buy something or leave." Â Are you kidding me?! Â You just told me to move here! Â
He takes this puffed up, aggressive stance, and stands directly between me and the band, so I can't see them. Â I looked at him, trying so hard not to laugh at his huffy puffy way, and simply said, "I'm staying til the end of this song, then I'm leaving." Â And he starts picking a fight with me!
'You'll either buy a drink now, or we'll make you leave.". Â I couldn't believe it!! Â
He finally says he's had enough, and calls the bartender/bouncer over. Â Are you serious? Â The two of them stood there in aggressive stances, surrounding me, literally causing so much of a scene that my friend started mentioning my name on the mike while in the middle of their performance! Â For real.
I've never been in a fight. Â I don't know what it's like. Â I'm a doctor, for god's sake! Â My whole life and business is about helping people heal and grow.
That said, with their aggression, I could feel the back of my neck bristling, and my fights clenching, in preparation to defend myself.
Wow
You know, if this was my bar, the moment I realized it was a new customer, I would have bent over backwards to welcome them. Â Cause what the hell does one drink matter? Â I want that new customer FOR LIFE!! Â Plus all their friends FOREVER!! Â I'd have notified them of the 1 drink policy, sure. Â But obviously waived it since I didn't know, was just about to leave anyway. Â Frankly, if it really was my business, I would have offered THEM a free bottled water, and welcomed them back at any time. Â That would have bought my business for life. Â 100%. Â
Instead, these blowhards are going on about how they're running a business, and how do I expect them to make money.....I just looked at them and said, "Do you know how much money you're losing right now?" Â They didn't get it.
This is a sick place, with the most foul service and employees I've ever met in Orange County....geez, maybe in all my life. Â Their names were Pat (bartender) and either John or Doug (doorman). Â I forget his name.
In any event, this is very real, they 100% accosted me, and you all deserve to know the truth. Â There's LOTS of other choices in this town.
