When I walked in there were plenty of tables available. There were four of us and we sat down and ordered our drinks. The waiter came back a few minutes later with our drinks. We let him know we were ready to order and he said he'd be right back. 15 minutes later he's finally back. After our food came out, he was still no where to be found. Our drinks were empty and my friend wanted some parmesan cheese. We had to hunt him down as he was in a corner talking to a coworker.
Everyone's food wasn't bad. The service however was HORRIBLE! I will choose another restaurant next time.
When this place first opened years ago the food was FABULOUS. Â We did birthdays, graduations, holidays, etc here. Â You always got a lot of food for a decent price. After moving out of state for a few years we returned here expecting to find the same food and service, and we DID NOT. Â The portions were noticeably smaller and it seems like they cheaped up on the ingredients. The shrimp in the dish went from big juicy pieces to what seems to now be frozen baby shrimp. Â The service is HORRIBLE, except the bartender that doubled as a waitress...she was VERY nice and extremely helpful...but she was the 2nd waitress we had because the first one's shift ended in the middle of our dinner. The manager berates the staff in front of customers (she's not very nice) and ignored the table when we were trying to speak with her. Since she ignored us we spoke with the owner. Â He remembered us from a few years back. Â We tried to let him know that the service sucked, his manager is VERY intimidating, and the food is lacking and he basically said sorry you feel that way but business is great. Â We will NOT be going here again. Â Sad really....
Review Source:Mediocre food, but at least there was a lot of it. I had an enormous bowl of pasta fagioli soup with almost no flavor. ordered a meatball parm hero but was served chicken parm. Tasted OK but chicken was like rubber. This is what happens when waitresses refuse to write things down.
Waited 10 minutes for menus on a Saturday afternoon. Apps and entrees were served at the same time, and there were long stretches where waitress was nowhere to be seen, with only 2 tables of diners.
The hero came with a potato croquette that was ice cold. I had to dunk it in my soup just to warm it up.
I was stuck at the hotel next door and there was no other place to go. Â My waiter seemed friendly enough and the place was clean.
I had an iceberg wedge salad that was slightly above average. Â I'd easily recommend it. Â They served a basket of garlic bread when I sat down but the bread was overly toasted and it kind made me think they were serving huge croutons.
Drinks were okay and the prices were reasonable. Â I would only go to this place if I were stuck in the hotel next door, but if you are, you'll be okay.
My husband and I like to go here on Friday nights for karaoke. In between singers the deejay plays music videos. I love the ones from the 70's with the big afros and bellbottom pants. We like the food also. This is also a sports bar with about 6 tv's. It is a NY Mets bar with some of the old seats from Shea Stadium.
Review Source:I came down for breakfast after staying at the hotel. I had heard from coworkers that the food was pretty good. I sat myself at a table and waited over 10 minutes for a menu. No hello, no "just a minute", no beverage order. The young girl did her best to avoid eye contact even though there were only five other parties there at the time. Â While sitting there waiting, I saw other patrons waiting for drinks or food items. So I got up and left and found a delicious Mexican restaurant on Roosevelt around the corner.
Review Source:I ordered catering from this restaurant for scores of workers at the Tennis Center one weekend. While they weren't really prepared for the volume of food or the level of service I really needed to feed my crew that weekend, the food was really great and they did a great job considering the circumstances.
The food was really good quality and the prices were excellent for what we got.
Thanks so much!
This Restaurant is located inside the Holiday Inn in Corona/ Astoria near Laguardia Airport. Â
I was really surprised when I went there as I had no expectations at all. Â The bartender was soooooooo nice and fun. She made us feel really comfortable.
We were there for just one night. Â The drinks were awsome and the food amazing.
I had the Lobster ravioly and it was really good. The portions are HUGE. Â Lots of Airline people there so it was fun to talk about different subjects with different people.
I really had a great time. The only bad thing was I did not have more time to spend there. Â
Bravo and THANK YOU.
I spent a number of hours feeling nauseous leaving this place after having the Seafood Bisque ($6) over lunch with coworkers. Â I was committed to going to the gym afterwork, but was still feeling it. Â Then why the heck does this place gets 4 stars? Â Because it was "good" to confirm that I am indeed allergic to (soft shell/ blue) crabs. Â And the humungous and delicious soup did indeed had plenty of it and flavor. Â Tasty, big portions at reasonable prices. Â Good service also.
Review Source:This was an unexpected pleasant surprise while grounded at LGA. Hungry and tired, we sought refuge in the attached hotel -- and were rewarded with an excellent Italian meal. Great menu, great service, good prices, and huge portions. I would go out of my way to have a lunch or dinner there before a flight out of NYC again, because there's a free shuttle. How can you beat that?
Review Source:I used to come to this restaurant a lot and it is a shame to see the restaurant go down hill in term of quality and service. My last visit was the last straw for me.On Father's Day, I went with my family because my father loves italien food and hadn't been here in a while.
Waitress brings over our cheesy bread w/out cheese and says, "Sorry, we ran out of mozarella cheese." What?! Italian restaurant running out of mozarella cheese on Father's Day at 3pm?! Waited 40 minutes for meatballs that did not come out with our meals. Told manager and turns out waitress lied. Manager came back to our table to tell us, laughingly, that it was a miscommunication and did nothing to compensate for the bad service.
Waitress talked about our table to other waiters and avoided eye contact while we waited approximately an hour after finishing our meal for her to come to our table with the check. After noticing how long we had been waiting, the manager aggravatedly direct her to go to our table to give us the check, she gave an insincere apology and thanked us for our patience.
Not sure about how the bar is, never came to this restaurant to just sit at the bar. Sadly I won't be returning here.
The C-student of restaurants -- not great, not horrible.  I was in town on business staying at the hotel, and had dinner there twice.  Value wasn't  bad considering it's NYC.  1st time I ordered a chicken parm santwich sandwich and fries.  Portions were excellent (got more than half of it to-go because I couldn't finish.  The bartender was rude and would disappear for long periods of time.  The guy who delivered the food  just dropped the plate in front of me and did not acknowledge me.  I still don't know if he didn't speak English or was just a d*ck.  I went back the next night, mainly because I had been driving all day and didn't feel like getting back into the car.  Different bartender -- she was very nice and accommodating.  I had wings which were pretty good. Â
They need to pick a theme and go with it. Â Classy Italian restaurant slash Sports Bar didn't really do it for me, but I'd consider going back if I'm in town.

While waiting for the check saw Waitress talking about our table to other waiters. After seeing the manager come up to her after 40 minutes after finishing food, she came over to our table with the check after giving an insincere apology. I will not be recommending or returning to The Pine of Queens again.
A good place to eat and drink before a Mets game at Citi Field. I first started frequenting here in 2007.
The bar area has all the requisite Mets memorabilia and you can see Citi Field across the Grand Central Parkway from out the front windows.
They have a large dining area, featuring a large panoramic picture of Shea Stadium with Citi Field visible in the background (Probably from Opening Day 2008).
Good , solid, large, family style Italian dishes at fair prices. My favorites include the fried or grilled calamari, the grilled baby lamb chops, the grilled vegetable Napoleon, the Orechietti pasta with broccoli rabe and sausage, and the Rigatoni Pine style (julienne breast of chicken, shrimp and broccoli with rigatoni in garlic and oil).
The 5 minute walk to Citi Field after your meal will help your waistband.
I've stayed at this Holiday Inn numerous times when I'm flying out of LaGuardia as it's a quick 10 minutes to the airport, but I really stay here for Pine, especially if I get lucky and there is a Mets game to be had. Â The food here is great. Â On my most recent visit last week, I had the shrimp cocktail (they're huge and tasty) and the pasta fagioli (6$ for a bowl you could fit your head into). Â The prices are reasonable and the plates are big. Â They run the whole gamut from seafood to steaks to burgers and sandwiches, and every time I've eaten here it's been good. Â Not fantastic, but good and well worth the money. They have good beers on tap (to me that means they have Guinness) and a full bar. Â You can sit and eat at the bar area (ideal if you want to watch any games on the TV) or sit in the back restaurant area. Â They get packed before, during, and after Mets home games as you can walk to the stadium from here. Â Don't let the fact that it's a restaurant attached to a Holiday Inn fool you. Â This is a good place, and they've got wifi from the hotel.
Review Source:You cannot judge a book by its cover is what I learned from this restaurant/ sports bar. It is attached to the Holiday Inn. Being the hotel snob that my job has turned me into I wasn't sure about the place.
They serve GREAT Italian food with huge portions. You can easily order 1-2 dishes for 3 adults. I had a large dinner there serving 12 adults and we all rolled out of there after 7 dishes and appetizers and dessert. A few outstanding dishes are the pasta with broccoli rabe, the tilapia, the chicken marsala and francese, and fried calamari. The desserts, I recently discovered, are delicious. I never have enough room by the time I am done with my meal and sheepishly request a doggy bag.
It doesn't get packed perhaps because of the location but there usually isn't a wait for the tables. The only problem is that if you are looking for a nice quiet dinner then you should show up earlier. They recently installed karaoke and it can get annoying when there are some screechers.
Attached to the Holiday Inn Laguardia Airport, you would never know that the Pine was one of the best Italian restaurants in the area! Â They serve VERY generous (family-style is an understatement), reasonably priced portions of Italian food -- and it is DELICIOUS! Â Definitely a cut above anything else in the Jackson Heights area, and easily on par with some of the best Italian restaurants that NYC has to offer. Â The owner, Chuck, is incredibly friendly and always looking to make patrons feel at home. Â The place also has a great bar area, and the scene is surprisingly fun and lively due to the crowds that drop by before (and sometimes after!) Mets games over at nearby Shea Stadium. Â (I know it's Citi Field now, but it'll always be Shea to me.) Â If you're in the Queens area and feel like a great big Italian dinner -- or if you're staying in NYC and want to be no more than a 10 minute ride from LGA without paying exorbitant NYC hotel prices -- stay at the Holiday Inn Laguardia and definitely make a stop at The Pine!
