Really great thin crust pizza made in an old school oven. This is the perfect no frills kind of place to get really good pizza. They have a pretty wide delivery range, but it's a fairly easy place to get to for pickup as well. They are in a shopping center right off of Highway 14.
Be prepared when you order though, because there are just two sizes offered, large and small. It's a two inch difference, I believe, and just a two dollar difference between the two sizes. So just get the large.
Actually one of the best pizza places in ChicagoLand. Â Plenty of parking. Â We visit them everytime we are in town. Â They can do a thin crust well, not burnt, sauce is delish, no heartburn. Â Plenty of cheese, but good quality so it is still good for breakfast the next day (the true test of a good pizza).
Reasonable prices too!
Very happy we found the place right away after we moved to Crystal Lake, this place is an institution in the area and a cool place to pick up pizza. very old school to see the family making pizzas in a very small space out in the open. Now that we moved away we miss it. After leaving Chicago this was the best pizza outside of Maries Pizza in Chicago.
Review Source:I grew up in Crystal Lake and as a child, my parents took us to out to dinner for Pinemoor Pizza on Sunday nights on a regular basis. Â I remember this so very well and loved the pizza. Â We have been back in Illinois for approximate six weeks now on an extended visit and we have picked up Pinemoor Pizza on three occasions. Â Although I am a vegan now and do not have cheese or meat on my pizza any more, the pizza is still delicious. Â The crust is just like I remember it and nobody in California makes it this exact way, so this is a great treat for me. Â My husband gets the "garbage" pizza and loves it! Â I thank everyone at Pinemoor Pizza for keeping their original pizza recipe alive!
Review Source:Ok so I read how amazing the pizza's were before I came to town and I was excited. But honestly it wasn't anything over the top. Yes they have good facebook specials and all. Not quite what I'd call a 5 star pizza in AZ...but to each their own! The owners are super nice. So def a place to try.
Review Source:Our daughter's school volleyball team was mid-way through it's third game at Crystal Lake Central HS, which meant it'd be a late night dinner at home. Â
A quick check of Yelp and quick call to Pinemoor pizza and just 20 minutes later the game was over and we picked up our Garbage Pizza and Cheese Pizza at Pinemoor.
First timer at Pinemoor, and certainly not the last.
Worthy of it's 5 star rating.
I just finished WOLFING a HALF of a LARGE pizza from here. Â And I want more. Â The reviews are right--there's something addictive about it. Â My husband, who went in to pick up the pizza, thinks he *may* Â have seen a pinch of sugar (???) sprinkled on top of the pizza before it was baked. Â I don't know if it caramelizes the cheese and toppings or what, but it works! Â I was a first timer to the pepperoncini rings as a pizza topping and I totally dug it. Â The place has been around since 1952. Â I'd say they're onto something. Â For us, it became an instant classic.
Helpful hint--They have "Facebook Specials" (specials posted on facebook). Â Check them out and save a couple bucks. Â Our large, well-dressed pizza was $14 total.
Occasionally I do something stupid like ordering from another pizzeria in CL - maybe because its late on a weeknight when this place is closed and I'm joneson for some pie! Â It's all good though - a reminder of how good we have it with Pinemoor. Â We have pizza here at least once per week. Â Thin crust with sausage, 'shrooms, and EXTRA garlic. Â From crust to cheese to sauce to accoutrements - PERFECTION.
Review Source:I ordered Pinemoor for pickup last week & fell in love!
When I first walked in & saw that they only had a pizza oven & cooler of pop, I was surprised. Â I felt like I had stepped back into the kitchen of some of the old pizza joynts that I used to deliver for. Â I instantly knew they had it right before I even had a chance to taste the pie!
The lady that was making the pizza was extremely nice & we started a little back and forth BS while I waited for my pie. Â It was funny to find out we knew some of the same people. She told me that they are only open from 4-9 during the week and 10 on the weekends. Â She is the one that makes the pies and the owner delivers. Â Everything about the place was simple, to the point & done with care. Â I was asked if I wanted it a little well done & cut the pie a special way for me (I like pie cut & my wife likes square cut). Â We ordered the large with sausage and green pepper...it was only 15bucks! The crust here is real thin and not a ton of sauce, hence the cheaper price. Â I have to say, it was perfect. Â Definitely got an instant fan out of me!
Out of the pizza places I have tried in Crystal Lake, Pinemoor has the best pizza. Â The crust is thin and crispy, the sausage pieces are large and are like little flavor explosions. Â I had to deduct a star because they used canned mushrooms. Â How disappointing. Â I wish people realized how quickly the flavors of the other ingredients can be degraded because they were paired with the salty-brine flavor of canned mushrooms. Â Always use fresh ingredients, people! Â Mushrooms last a week in the fridge! Â No excuses!
Oh....side note #1: Â The value was pretty good. Â We were surprised at how inexpensive our delivered pizza was.
side note #2: Â FYI, this is a delivery and carry-out only pizza place.
This is being dictated by my husband, a Crystal Lake native: "Every visit to Crystal Lake starts with ordering Pinemoor on our way from the airport. Â About 20 minutes from town we place our call, typically ordering 3 or 4 large garbage pizzas. Â When we give our name, the invariable reply is "Will that be pie-cut?" Â This is because one time, and one time only, they mistakenly made the pie square cut, to the abject horror of my 6' 3" 250 lb. brother in law. Â The pie was given to him free as a new one baked. Â He struggled disgustedly with the abysmally cut square parts and ate while he waited. Â So, it was all good. The friendly people at Pinemoor always make sure of that.
My husband, sons, brother-in-laws and nephews each gobble down at least half a large pie each, often more. Â Once, my nephew ate a pie and a half. Â They rave and rave and can't get enough, for over FORTY FIVE years now. Â
THAT'S how good it is.
Note: Â Do not ask if they have salad unless you want to be mocked like the rube you are.
