Good place to go get a pocket, or calzone. They've got a pretty large/diverse menu, a little overpriced in my opinion. Regardless, a great place to stop grab a bite to go, or there's plenty of seating area if you wanna take a seat.
(calzones might take ~10 minutes to heat)

It's kinda cool how they're attached to the Kingoberry, and they offer a 10% discount for student ID's

I really want this place to work out, but each time we've given it another chance it never ends well.

I had a Living Social voucher for $10.00 so I decided to try this place.  Ordered a calzone for pickup through the website at 12:44PM and was quoted takeout pickup time of 12:54PM.  Being about 5 minutes down the street I figured I could pick up my calzone and get back to work in time for my 1:00PM meeting.  Arriving slightly early at 12:50PM I checked in and told them my name and was told it would be another 2 minutes.  Great, I thought, 2 minutes ahead of schedule.  The calzone wasn't actually finished until 1:02 so it was 12 minutes and not 2 minutes.  So it loses 1 star on timeliness.

For food, I had the "meaty" calzone.  It was undercooked and nasty tasting.  The portion size was huge but it was low quality.  I would have preferred a higher quality smaller portion than this pile of junk.  The place is clean and I like that they take online delivery.  I may try something else on the menu as it is convenient.  For now, 2 stars is all I can afford.  I'm just glad I only paid $1 for the $10 voucher and then the tax etc which was another $1.18.  Out of pocket $2.18 and I still felt cheated.  I couldn't have imagined paying full price ($11.18.)

Just four words... delicious, fresh, healthy, convenient.  Who knew fast food could be so good?  Wish I would have become a Pocket-Pal sooner!  On my way there now....

I really like the food here but there are four things that have really ticked me off.  Here's how they lost me:

    1. "New Menu" means everything now includes meat at a higher price.  It used to be that the pockets didn't come with meat and you had to pay like a dollar extra to add chicken or whatever.  Now, all the prices are elevated and you have to *ask* to have the chicken removed and bring the price back down.  If you don't catch it, you end up with meat and a higher bill.  Kind of sneaky.

    2. I recently got an email from them for "Customer Appreciation Day" and went in to claim my $1 pocket.  The manager told me that was only from 11-4.  I went home and looked at the email and there is no fine print or disclaimer suggesting it wasn't an appreciation "day."  While I was there, another appreciated customer gave him some... advice on how to run his business and walked out.  I probably should have done the same rather than paying $22.18 for two $1 pockets...

    3. They're tree haters.  You can check "no utensils" and "eco-friendly packaging" and you can write special comments in all the boxes: "No plasticware or napkins."  But if Pockets wants you to have forks, you will have a g-d fork.  Even if you ordered soup.

    4. They have a reward points thing, but you can only use it online, and you can only use it to deliver from the same location.  So when I buy their stuff in the store, it doesn't count.  And if I'm in another part of town and order online, it doesn't count.  And as usual, they don't really make this clear until you order from one of the other locations and you realize all your points are missing.  What the heck?

If you want a salad and live near this place, you'll find much less shady business practices at the Whole Foods or Chipotle.

The Pocket was terrible, basically a lot of bread.  Instead of 5 ingredients and cheese, it was lettuce, lettuce, and more lettuce

Calzones are definitely the way to go. Original with broccoli, chicken and marinara sauce. It's huge. I don't think I've ever finished it in one sitting before. It tastes great the next morning for breakfast too.

I'm not a fan of the pockets or salads though. I've tried them twice and haven't been able to finish them because it tasted awful to me. Maybe it's just their ranch dressing that I'm not fond of. But regardless, the calzone is tasty. I've heard good things about their baked potato too.

Meh, nothing special honestly. I don't really crave it. The turkey tastes kinda artificial for some reason, maybe it is? Or maybe I just came on a weird day. But it's hard to eat the pockets too so idk. Not a place for me.

The hubby went with the Southwest calzone; chicken, cheddar & mozzarella cheese, corn, black beans, green pepper, cilantro with a side of Chipotle ranch.  So I went with the Gobbler calzone; turkey, mozzarella, mushroom and spinach (I had a choice of either broccoli or spinach) with a side a ranch.  We made them a combo meal with a fountain drink and chips.  They told me it would take at least 15 minutes to bake the calzones.

I did not specify which size I wanted, they have a regular and large.  They apparently made that executive decision for me and rang me up for 2 larges, which would explain why it was more than I expected.  I would have been satisfied with just a regular, I could have saved nearly $6.  The large was big enough to share if you both had moderate appetites.

The Gobbler was super cheese.  The side of ranch dressing wasn't even necessary, it was a pretty thick dipping ranch not a salad dressing kind of ranch.  The best part of the calzone was the crust.  A whole wheat dough, baked fresh, crispy on the outside yet soft on the inside.  The Southwest was more to my liking, with much more bold flavors.  The blend of corn, beans, peppers and cilantro packed flavor in every bite.  The Chipotle dressing was runnier, so you could pour it over and inside the calzone and it would seep into the nooks and crannies so each bite had a little Chipotle kick.

The pocket sandwich photo's they have on the walls are a big turn off (washed out color and kind of tacky decor).  I don't know why you would want anything but a calzone from here.  The calzone's are fresh and toasty with melted cheese that glues the whole sandwich together.  YUM!

The frozen yogurt is worth the trip!  Plus, the manager is very accommodating, which is hard to say for most places.

Okay, Pockets. I had heard good things about it and passed you everyday, but I could not figure out what the hell you were all about. So I took a friend and figured you out.

Pockets is on Dearborn Street and has a super cute storefront. It almost feels like walking into a sandwich shop...which would make sense since a pocket is basicall a sandwich. It's a warm, doughy wheat bread stuffed with whatever your heart desires. They also do salads and soups too. There's plenty of seating, so if you're going with a group, you're gold.

I ended up getting the Bam Bam, which was huge and had tons of veggies. From what I recall, there were broccoli florets, peepers, mushrooms, and mozzarella cheese. The bread was warm and really filling. My friend got a salad; can't remember which one, but it was delicious.

The guys working the counter were also pretty friendly. If you're in the area and in the mood for a healthier lunch option, Pockets is the place for you!

I ordered the original pocket with turkey and vinaigrette. The bread was barely warm, and all the ingredients were Subway quality (i.e. uniformly bland). No matter which pocket you choose, you're basically getting a cheap house salad dumped on a huge dinner roll, with some meat cubes mixed in.
There are many better sandwich options available in the Loop. Hell, I'd go to Subway before coming back here; at least then I'd get my money's worth.

I went there on a Sunday afternoon.  It was totally dead there except for one person using the free wi-fi.  The man at the counter was very nice and he suggested that I get the combo to save money.  I did and it was delicious.  I had the Greek pocket with the tomato soup.  It was almost like gourmet food.

Definitely not my style. I've tried both the Southwest and Bam Bam pockets and they were disappointing. The bread had no flavor, the salad was OK and the dressings tasted store bought. Don't think I will be heading back here for lunch..

The store itself was nice though, the staff was very friendly and courteous. A pity I wasn't able to appreciate the food much.

Great Printers Row location. Not very busy, and you can put your order in while you hit the library, or one if the bookstores in the row. After you're done browsing, your calzone is done and ready to be scarfed. Also, it's "relatively" good for you, for thosee looking for healthier options.

I've never pondered trying the Atkin's Diet for the simple fact that I would probably cave and rob a bakery after 12 hours sans carbs.

Why do I mention this? Because if you're like me, you appreciate a good slice of hearty bread. And luckily, you'll find the most amazing bread to ever come from a fast food joint at Pockets. Their bread is the stuff dreams are made of (if you went to bed really hungry...) - it's thick, warm, kind of doughy (but in a good way), and it appears to be wheat (so a little heart-healthiness tossed in too).

Now, when I go to Pockets I usually order the same thing - the Greek pocket with chicken. The servings are huge, and there are always copious amounts of olives, chicken and feta cheese for me to enjoy, stuffed between previously mentioned swoon-worthy bread.  The tomato soup is good (you can get a combo soup and half pocket - always a great choice), or you can do the pocket in a salad form (which I recently discovered also includes a chunk of, you guessed it, hot-out-of-the-oven bread).

The Dearborn location is never busy, so I rarely have to wait for my food. My only complaint is the prices are a bit high - a salad and soda cost me $11 - kind of ridiculous for lunch, but, what can ya do. The bread was calling to me.

We order from this place at work and I love it.  You can totally configure your pocket ad remove all the fatty stuff and have a healthy option should you wish.

Arrives hot, fresh and tasty and at a good price.

OMG!!! Can I say good... I mean I tried the pockets Hyde Park and it does not touch the pockets Dearborn. Maybe because I was new to the cuisine that I had gotten that was almost two years ago.

When I discovered this lil gem while wondering to SRO, I immediately stopped today. I have my share of grease and high cholesterol foods during the week. Now, to have a fresh option other than Salad Spinners and Chipotle is great (I love them both by the way!)

I give this place two thumbs way up! They have friendly service, good selection, minimum grease, clean atmosphere, and good prices....

Finally a healthy place by my office where I can get a real lunch.

The pencils and papers at the front are for "building your own salads and pockets" in case anyone was wondering.  That's definitely the route I take as sometimes I can be a picky eater (hey, at least I admit it!)  Check off the ingredients you want and hand it off!

The pockets bread is absolutely amazing! Definitely fresh.  Be warned, however, a "pocket" isn't a pita as I thought it might be, it's really just a salad struggling to fit inside some bread.  So not really a sandwich while "on-the-go" like I maybe thought.

Last night I ordered from the new South Loop Pockets location for the first time. For many months I had bemoaned the fact that the other Pockets locations don't deliver to my neighborhood. But now that the South Loop Pockets has opened, I can enjoy Pockets in the comfort of my own home without leaving it.

I ordered online and received a 10% discount for being a first-time customer at the South Loop location. The Web site suggested a delivery time of one hour, but my food arrived in about 30 minutes or less. I was duly impressed. I was also impressed by the phone call from Pockets within seconds of my order placement to confirm whether I wanted spinach and spring mix, or just spinach on one of my pockets. Nice touch. And finally, when the delivery person arrived, he was friendly and efficient--and completely human. So often, delivery boys seem like droids, with some exceptions. Well, this delivery boy was personable and genuine--probably a student from the hood.

I will be ordering from Pockets South Loop again, and probably very soon. My partner and I enjoyed our food and didn't have to drive anywhere to get it. My partner was a Pockets virgin, and he enjoyed it. I think I have brought him into the Pockets fold.

This was my first time EVER at a Pockets, and I gotta say I was impressed.  This new location has a fresh clean feeling when you walk in. Seating is both in the front as well as the back (Except the view in the back is of garbage dumpsters....)

They had little pencils and papers at the front by the door, but I didnt pay much attention to them. I'm guessing you're supposed to fill out the form with your order and hand it to the cashier to place your order? I didnt do that. I walked straight to the cashier and placed my order. The guy at the cashier didnt mind at all.

The calzones are supposed to take 15-20 minutes to cook, but I swear we got ours in about 5 minutes. FAST! The staff had prepared our food as eat-in (I ordered to-go).  When I told the guy we ordered to-go, he said "no problem!" and happily bagged up our food. What great service!

I am extremely happy that this establishment uses earth friendly products. Their containers are made of paper. Their plastic bags are recyclable. GO GREEN!

The food was tasty as well. I had ordered the spinach, berry and almond salad. It was yummie! My friend ordered the bbq chicken calzone. It tasted really good. I will definitely be back!

POCKETS POCKETS POCKETS POCKETS! I LOVE POCKETS!!!!!!!!!!

    Ahem, excuse me.

As a fan of healthy and delicious and large salads I am a huge fan of Pockets [in case you didn't already notice]. And I am thrilled that this location opened up as I will be moving back into the area within the next 2 weeks.

I finally stopped in today to get my post 5k and pre-work lunch on. I arrived after the general lunch hour and there were some people finishing up their pockets and 2 people in line. I grabbed my paper, checked off my salad [spinach, double cucumber, carrots, crunchy noodles, edamame, and raspberry vin dressing*] I waited a few minutes for it to be made and once it was in my possession it was in my stomach about 2 minutes afterwards...okok, not really, I didn't eat it that fast, but it sure did seem like it!

It's small but nice inside with some slightly funky seats. Or, if you prefer, you can order online because they deliver!

*not my usual dressing, i decided to switch it up and i wish i had gotten my usual, sesame ginger. just a note, of the foot variety.

YUM! Pockets has arrived to toss up the lunch time dining options in the South Loop - hurrah!

The staff are all incredibly friendly and don't shoot me the death glare when it takes me 15 minutes to decide what fresh ingredients I'd like in my scrumptious salad. The chicken chili is hearty and delicious and I expect that it will likely fuel me through the cold winter months looming in the not-too-distant future. Next on my to-do list: try the backed potatoes!

Also worth noting - Pocket's delivers!!! And they are open weekends and in the evenings, so you can indulge at any time!

This location just opened, most evident by the cashiers and manager who cautiously eyed me as I walked in.  I slowly stepped in, then noticed the little pile of papers and basket of pencils near the door.  As I grabbed one, the manager said "he's been to Pockets before".

Well, not really, but I've been to enough "select your toppings" joints to understand protocol.  The staff was friendly though, and my food came pretty quickly.

The bread was nice and hot, but can a brother get some butter?  I get my plain bread fix at church, thanks.  The bread along with a small salad (w/ spring mix, mushrooms, broccoli, carrots, waluts, bleu cheese, and balsamic vinegar) cost a pricey almost-$9, but it tasted really good and kept me full for the rest of the work day.  I heartily welcome this new lunch option to the still-desolate Printer's Row area.

Bienvenido Pockets in the South Loop, kick back, stay awhile...please!

We (meaning all the Printers Row wanderers) have been waiting for this glorious day and low and behold, it has finally arrived. Pockets Dearborn is open!

As soon as I received word that the doors were officially open my mouth started salivating for none other then my favorite Bam Bam pocket...

So my lunch sounds like something a kid would eat... but what's stuffed inside is brocolli, tomatoes, green peppers, mushrooms, shredded carrots, and mozzarella cheese. Bliss in a pocket is what it really is.

So, I love this location, its nice and clean, a lot smaller then my regular Pockets on Lincoln but never mind that I totally dug the hip seating. The service was attentive and the Pocket was served piping hot. Yum...

For those of you unfamiliar with Pockets it is self described as a fresh and healthy combination of ingredients stuffed into a freshly baked Pocket bread.  In basic lingo it's lots of fresh veggies (and meat if your so inclined) stuffed into a warm wheat roll and served with a side of dressing. The result is pure warm goodness and a full belly for hours!

I really do not have any complaints, but I do know I'll be back. My Bam Bam with extra mozzarella cheese and ranch dressing came out to 8.74 with tax.

They serve calzones, stuffed baked potatoes, soup, salads, and lots more.

And heads up yelpers be sure to pick up the "I'm Addicted" card...12 stamps will get you a free menu item of your choice. One stamp per Pocket, calzone, salad, or potato purchased. Future free "YUM" ---yes!
