I walked in here today, and was appalled. I couldn't find the door first of all because it's not even marked. It feels like you're walking into someone's home. Once inside, it was dark and dirty and very worn down. There were a couple random tables that had trash on them and the menu on the wall was old and all the prices were scribbled out. The example size boxes has so much dust collected on top that I nearly gagged.
Did I dare order food? I did. The man behind the counter was sweet, and I was wasting my precious lunch time from work. He was unable to make my order (sesame chicken) without added salt and msg because it was prepackaged. I ordered it, anyway. The chicken was gross. I bit into a piece, it was fatty, and then I looked inside. I couldn't eat it after that. The rice was fine. I will definitely stick to Mexican when dining in Pilsen. Go to Chinatown for Chinese.
If you're looking for something other than Mexican food in Pilsen - and want take-out/delivery, check out Pony Express for your quick Chinese fix.
Prices are decent and the food is your average Chinese-American cuisine. We ordered the vegetable fried rice and shrimp with lobster sauce (both smalls). The total was less than $10. FYI - to use a credit card, your order must be at least $12. I learned the hard way.
I definitely do not recommend eating here - heat was broken, chipped paint on the walls, peeling wall paper, and crappy furniture that you'd find tossed on the streets.
Nevertheless, the owners are nice and speak Cantonese (so I'm a little biased). Give it a go if you're in the neighborhood and too lazy to make the trip to Chinatown.
