I love coming here after work on occasion. It is a great way to relax with the girls and the ambiance is wonderful. I prefer this wine bar over Cork and Pastiche, which are closer to my house. The wine is excellent and I prefer coming here rather than 6th Avenue, because every time I go there everyone seems over served. I like the quiet ambiance and the comfortable setting. You don't have to shout to be heard, and you don't have to worry about getting hit on by drunk men. The only reason I give it four stars, is that I know how much the bottle costs, and you'd be paying that for a glass. However, the ambiance and excellent service are worth it.

I love this place... good wine, great food... great atmosphere. The bartender is very knowledgeable.

    So yes, I'll go back.

Good wine. Great service. But food was disappointing so gotta give this place only 3 stars.

I have been here a number of times and I love it.  The wine prices are incredibly reasonable, and the selection good.  I know my wine, I know what it costs.  I know there is a mark up at restaurants, and I totally understand that, but it still pains me to pay $12 for a glass of something I can get a bottle of at Costco for $11.  You won't find that at Pour at Four.  I have always found a nice glass for under $10.

The service is always friendly and it's a nice relaxing atmosphere.  I don't know anywhere else I can get a good steak for $15.  And it's a bonus to have a nice place in my neighborhood without having to drive to 6th Ave or downtown.  Important to note is, though I know my wine, the servers (the owner is one) are not snobby at all.  They are more than happy to help you pick anything you want.  I am not intimidated by a wine bar, but I know people who are, and this place would be great for them.

I have been here a number of times with friends and my parents took me here for my birthday.   I have always been incredibly happy with all aspect of the food, wine and service.

I typically don't like going to places alone, I had some time to kill before meeting with friends, and I'd never been to a wine bar.
I thought what the heck, I'll give it a try, and I was very pleased. This is a very nice place to go to, even alone.

I told my server what I wanted to eat, and asked them what they would suggest, and my server suggested a white wine, and let me try a sip before I ordered it.

When he came back I thanked him for suggestion, and we briefly chatted about my favorite wines, and he brought me another sample, that I loved, and so I bought a whole bottle to bring home. I was so happy, because being Italian, I lean toward Italian wines, I probably would have never tried either wines had I not gone in and experienced this place. I ended up leaving with a bottle of German wine, and happy that I went out of my typical comfort zone.

The food was ok, it was simple, and well put together, but it was nothing that made a huge impression on me. It was very clean, and perfect eats for sipping on wine with, so I can't really complain.

    I'll be back for sure!

Pour at Four is an established local wine bar and has been around for years.  There should be a reason for that.  A few people including someone owning his own restaurant recommended this place, but I always felt my appetite is too big for wine bar serving cheese, cured meat and nuts or something.  Plus I can take only one glass of wine per day.

Anyways, last week I finally went and overcame my fear of wine bar thanks to these guys.  It was early in the evening, no music/noise, friendly staff.  They do serve from cured meat and cheese type stuff to full dinner.  My coconut shrimp came out very hot and crunchy, and baked brie cheese wrapped w/phyllo and berry jam on top was perfect not to kill the main reason to be there - to enjoy wine.

Since my wine knowledge is limited, I ask the server what is recommended based on preference (otherwise order the second cheapest one, not "house wine".  This is the trick I learned from somewhere and seems to work).  Of course it's a wine bar, and the server picked a great one.

Next time I'd like to try dinner.

Outstanding staff,, food selections, and of course wine...that compliments each dish.  A wonderful place to stop in  and relax.  Don't miss a chance to try this great place.

The wait staff was super friendly, and they have an amazing wine selection. I opted for the Moscato dessert wine. Wow. Chilled to perfection, sweet, and just what I needed. I tried their soup of the day (salmon chowder I think), and it was delicious. Thick, hearty and full of delicious bits.

Parking was super easy, the music was non intrusive. The decor is relaxing and perfect for a wine bar. I would definitely come back to this place.

Friendly service, expert advice on wines and tasty food.  This little gem is perfectly situated in Tacoma's Proctor neighbourhood.  Easier parking than the nearby 6th Avenue restaurant row.  Occasional live music and special tasting events.  Well worth a visit.

Had to kill some time before meeting friends ..... Great wine and nice place to sit alone with a good red or with friends.

Found this place because it is close to one of our favorite restaurants(Pomodoro's) in our neighborhood. We thought we would try it for my husband's birthday along with some of our friends.
We were very pleased with our service. Our waitress was attentive and was knowledgeable of the wines on the menu. She had good recommendations for the different types of wine we wanted to try. The wine selection was pretty big with a broad spectrum of wines. However, the food was not impressive. The concept of appetizers, tapas, and small entrees are great. However, we were not pleased. The chorizo quesadillas were bland, dry, and overcooked. The antipasto platter seemed like everything was thrown together from packaged meats and cheeses from the grocery store, and everything else was from a pickled jar. The chocolate dessert I had looked and tasted like something I buy at Trader Joe's in the frozen dessert section.
The atmosphere had no ambiance like other wine bars we have been to. The interior looked like the home furnishings department of Target.
Overall, I feel like Pour at Four does not belong in this area of town. It belongs in a strip mall. It's too bad because a wine bar would be a nice addition to the other restaurants in the area....

I am surprised to see some of the negative reviews here. Pour at Four is one of my favorite places to eat (and drink) in Tacoma. Their cheese plate is the best I've had in T-town and we've found quite a few winners among their changing small plates menu. I have always found the staff to be knowledgable and friendly. I think Pour at Four is the perfect place to go for a relaxing and tasty meal.

Disappointing to say the least... Wait staff didn't acknowledge us when we walked in.. I think they finally decided to mosey on over when we kept looking up at them.. No it wasn't busy, in fact, they looked like they were standing around enjoying themselves.. When our waiter (maybe owner not sure) finally came over I asked if they had happy hour.. No they did not and waiter proceeded to tell me that most places who have happy hour serve $5 glasses of wine and that they too have $5 glasses of wine.. Wait a minute, how about happy hour menu items?? We decided to stay ordered a couple appetizers fresh spring rolls($7) and ceviche' ($8).. Ok I am not picky on my food but the fresh spring rolls were just chopped up cabbage (coleslaw package) with parsley.. no flavor what so ever so cheaply made it was unbelievable! The ceviche hadn't marinated in lime juices and seasoning (seasonings what seasonings it was just lime juice tasted like it was straight from the bottle not fresh lime).. serving portions were less than adequate.. We both took a bite of each.. then left it wasn't worth eating. When we told the service gal that we didn't care for our order she went back to our waiter.. You would think they would comp the food, apologize, offer something else instead they handed us the bill with the overpriced food on there. I WILL NOT BE BACK!

Again I wish there were stars for atmosphere as well as food and drink.  met a friend for a nice glass of wine and some appetizers around 6 on a Wednesday.  It was pretty crowded for a middle of the week night but plenty of space to sit and the service was fine.  We decided to split several appetizers all of which were really good; however, it was so loud that we could hardly hear each other and we were sitting at a table for two very close to the front of the place.  Don't know if this was particularly noisy tonight or if it's always like that but my ears are still ringing.  I'd have given this four stars except for the noise.

Went here for a friends birthday this weekend.  What a little treasure this place is.  We had a wine flight and a few little plates.  The waitress had a great knowledge of wine and suggested great cheese pairings as well.  The only complaint I have is that the place lacks a bit in the decor.  They have some sitting areas as well as traditional tables.  I just wanted it to feel more cozy.  Other than that, loved the place and will be back!

Disappointed.  Tried to celebrate a reason to celebrate.  Thought a friend and I would use Yelp* to help.  No.  No.  And no.  I did my research.  The location.  Checked out the hours.  Downloaded the entire menu.  We arrived at 9:30pm.  The website said it closed at 11:00pm.  It was a Thursday.  By the time a server reached us, he felt the need to be "up front" and inform us the kitchen was closed.....  An hour and a half before the placed closed.  All they had was cheese plates.

"Would you like to order one?"  No.  No, because my cheese plate can kick you cheese plate's ass and would cost me nothing.  What a waste of time, gas, and research.  Not to mention a bottle of wine would cost less than a glass if I had just stayed home.  There was nothing on the menu that lead me to believe that a kitchen would need to close so early.

This instant just goes to show that you can research you ASS OFF on Yelp* and still be screwed.

The place was practically empty and I still could barely hear my friend in front of my face as I was reading her lips.  No sound control.  I wish I could give a 0.0.

Happened upon this place after a recommendation. They have quite a big menu, including apps, tapas, entrees, and wine. The service was pretty good. The interior is bland and not unique. A glass of wine is a little pricey - mine was $8 for a Washington red. My only complaint is I didn't see anything about a happy hour, but I hope they do have one and I just missed it.

I had a great time here.  Great staff and quick service, amazing wine and a large selection of menu items.  The cheese plates all sounded tasty but I ordered one of the goat cheese selections that came with friend artichoke hearts...it was a very generous portion and soooooooooo good!  I definitely will be coming back to sample more of their wines and tapas!

I wanted Pour at Four to be a five. But sadly, Pour at Four.....is a four. And not just because it's ironic. Everything about this wine bar was fantastic. Great selection, great menu. My problem was the service. The girl who brought us menus and water didn't make eye contact or smile or anything, and when I said thank you she either said your welcome with her back turned or not at all. Ok, not a great 1st impression, but whatever. I was also kind of sad that the server (who I believe is the owner) didn't really make an effort to go over the menu and explain the best way to order, etc. There's a lot to choose from - Tapas, Appetizers, Soups and Salads, and small plate Entrees, as well as a fantastic artisan cheese menu, with the option of a cheese flight. I seriously considered just getting cheese and a salad, LOL.  I would like to say though, that later on in the night he started suggested pairings for our entrees and desserts. I think it may have been that there was a large group of "tipsy" people in the back who were being a bit distracting and maybe that is why he seemed rushed. :( They left soon after, so that's probably it.
We started with a small plate of calamari with a chili-lime aioli (mostly for the boyfriend, though I did sample and it was delicious - not rubbery at all) and a cup of the lobster bisque for me. I was pleasantly surprised with the bisque, noting some rather large chunks of lobster meat in the creamy goodness! For our small plate entrees, Eric chose the beef tenderloin with sauteed vegetables and potatoes, which he said were spot on. I tried the beef and it was pretty good. My entree---not so much.  It was braised lamb (brown) with a demi-glaze (brown) and a side of rice with (brown) lentils. It was very, very, bland. Lamb was cooked nicely, but it really needed seasoning and color. I ate about half of it, but was really wishing I had a cheese flight right about then.
We did go ahead and order dessert since it was Eric's birthday dinner. I had the vanilla creme brulee (amazing sugar crust which I had way too much fun cracking!) and Eric got this divine bread pudding with cinnamony spices and a whiskey brown sugar sauce. It was absolutely fantastic!!!!  Eric had two different reds over the course of dinner and I had the Kestrel, Pure Platinum, which is a Gewurztraminer/Viognier Blend.

While not a 5 star experience, I thoroughly enjoyed the meal at Pour at Four, and will definitely come back to see if my 2nd time around will be just a little bit better.

Pour at Four has their act together. Food is now consistently good with a seasonal menu. Mark always has a nice selection of wines both from the US and abroad. This is our "go to" place when we want to have a nice night out.

I know I stated in my last update that I would never come back.  Well, I went again.  It is just so darned close to home, we were on a walk and in need of a wine to pair with dinner.  So we stopped in and gave it another shot!

I have to say that service was impeccable this day!  I was preparing Argentinian food for dinner and not sure what to pair it with so we went with a very informative suggestion from the owner.  He gave us a little taste first which was nice.  We ended up with a very nice Carmenere that paired perfectly with the lamb and polenta.  And only $19 to boot for the bottle!

Apparently third time is a charm.  Pour at Four has redeemed itself for me and I will definitely not hesitate to stop in for a glass of grape-y goodness!

Pour at Four is a great little wine bar!

My husband and I have been here many times and are always pleased.  The wine selection is good and changes often.  Prices are ok and the service is great.  The owner is super nice and very informative.  I also know he is very involved in the community and does a lot of charitable giving.  Another great reason to support a local business!

What a great place!  Fabulously interesting (and ever changing) wine selection and incredibly knowledgeable staff.  Service was impeccable and friendly.  I believe our server was the owner himself.  He provided us with samplings of wines he felt we would like, based on our hankering for something a little smokey.  We found a couple of delectable selections and enjoyed them along with the ahi bruschetta.  Amazing!  Perfect for a warm afternoon.

Cozy ambience, pleasant crowd, and a very enjoyable experience all around.  THIS is our Tacoma "go to" spot.

Pour at Four is wonderful place!  The food is excellent, the wine list extensive and diverse, and the wait staff is attentive and friendly.  The owner is very accessible and cares about his customers and the quality of his product.  This place is above the curve!  Is it four yet?

Love to see this great little wine bar in the Proctor District.  Met up with a few old friends here and enjoyed fabulous wine.  Pour at Four also has an extensive small plates menu -- everything was delicious.  I'll definitely keep going back each trip home to T-Town.
