Prince Café

This place really really was below any expectation I can possibly have for a place.  In all rightness I should be giving it 1 star, but I'm adding an extra star because they were polite enough and replaced the hooka coal (although I can't say whether we were charged for that cause my friend paid the bill).    

First, despite a link to a menu on the yelp page and a sign outside saying "felafel," there is NO FOOD here. Nothing.  Maybe they've had their food operation shut down by the health department and its recent?  I don't know.  Just know, we got there and they said no food.  As far as drinks, they have 3 sodes (coke, sprite and fanta - I think) but no diet coke or diet sprite, seriously.  We ended up getting tea, served in stained cups, but by that point I was beyond caring about cleanliness.  The hooka itself was decent.  The tables and chairs were chipped and dirty.  I had to wipe my seat off before I sat down.  

Ok, so I ask myself, how is this place still open?  And why?  And where do the college students at Md go to get a hooka?  The other option shut down in the last year or so.  My theory:  This place is a front for something else - it has to be.  They are making sure they have no customers.  Police should keep an eye on this one.  You have to work to be this bad.  So no reason to ever go here.  Ever.  Seriously.  Unless you work for the DEA or FBI.

Not coming back to this shadyass place .they microwave therir food and is a nasty place to be in anyways.

Please allow me to begin by explaining that every Prince Cafe in the DC area has been steadily increasing their prices much to the dismay of their perpetual customers (I was one of them). To add to that dismay...it seems as though Prince Cafe is running out of certain menu items. They never seem to have Lassis, certain teas, and a lot more items that I don't remember well enough to list here (although they're clearly on the menu). On top of THAT...this place has the audacity to include a "gratuity" charge (if gratuitous is a word one can describe the service) without telling you. It is as if they're trying to con you out of another 15% tip if you don't catch that DON'T LET THIS HAPPEN TO YOU!

So let me get this straight, Prince Cafe, you're running out of menu items that are clearly written on the menu, you discreetly charge a "gratuity" fee, and you're raising prices on sheesha? Hmm...could you please explain to me the logic of your business model?

I chose to review this particular Prince Cafe for one reason alone: the servive is abhorrent. Once, I remember, I had ordered a Gyro and the waiter came with a falafel. I made note of this and he told me to "just eat it." Literally. I won't go into further details about this experience but if you are compelled to go to a Prince Cafe (for whatever reason), go to the one in Tenley Town which has MUCH BETTER SERVICE.

Further advice for students of my alma mater and all else: for a casual hookah experience GO TO MOSAIC. If you want to buy hookah coals and tobacco GO TO THE BAMBOO EATER. I am beyond grateful that Prince Cafe's monopoly in CP is being challenged. Finally, remember the "gratuity"...don't tip them unless you're given a consensual and creep- less back rub and a pedicure, which, I know, they will not do any time soon. Oh...and did I mention the mandatory cover charge?
