Providence Tavern is an amazing establishment! Have you ever seen the show Cheers? If you have, you will understand the family orientated and friendly atmosphere, as well as the comical persona. Yes that is Providence! Sam, the owner, is the kindest, most professional and community oriented person I have ever met. He not only takes care of his customers, but his employees too! That says enough in itself about the integrity that Providence holds. Â The waitstaff...oh the waitstaff especially Michelle is outstanding! Every event that we have had or that my personal family has had there at Providence, Michelle.... well everyone loves Michelle let's just say that! Of course I wouldn't forget to mention the cook! Wow! Amazing, fresh, organic food that you know has been well attended too. The food is outstanding and affordable! Well if this review hasn't screamed how much we love Sam and everyone at Providence than I don't know what will! Please go visit Providence! You'll love them just as much as we do! Blessings Providence!!
Review Source:This place is a solid neighborhood pub. It has a nice looking bar with exposed brick walls. The place isn't very big, but they have good, friendly waitstaff, and limited, but good, choices on tap (e.g., Magic Hat #9). I tried a few of their happy hour apps. First they are cheap. The descriptions are appealing, like roasted, stuffed, bacon wrapped jalapenos. They were OK, but there was no "Wow!' factor. They have TVs all around and you can watch a game from most any seat. It's a good stop if you find yourself near Sloan's Lake.
Review Source:What can I say? Â This place is just consistently awesome, we've been here often enough that I feel like it definitely deserves 5 stars.
Example: Â It's my birthday. Â We talk about where to go for dinner - toss around ideas like, Black Pearl, Old Major, Central. Â Finally, I decide, that really I'd just like a good burger. Â And a couple of good glasses of wine. Â OK, maybe more than a couple but that's beside the point.
As usual, burger was amazing. Â We also tried the fig and prosciutto flatbread - also delicious.
YOU PEOPLE NEED TO GO HERE!!
Totally in love with the Providence.
I frequent this side of town quite a bit so I often times find myself here for a nice hangover Sunday Brunch. They have bottomless mimosas (keep in mind only til 2 pm). Â The food is a-ma-zing. I shouldn't have waited so long to Yelp this place because now I can't write about my meal as in detail as I wanted.
I tried their carne adovada- and it was unlike anything I could have imagined. Totally forgot what my companion ate (damn mimosas). Â They have decent bloodies as well. I've been here on several other occasions though, this is tops on my Edgewater hangout list for sure.
They just started serving brunch not too long ago, so def check it out if you're looking for a cool unique spot (With no waits!!!)
Providence Tavern has a great neighborhood bar feel. The ambiance is nice and the menu is great. The beer selection isn't huge, but they usually have one or two really interesting picks.
I'd give it five stars but the food can be a bit inconsistent. I've had great food 85% of my visits, but a couple time things came out cold or overcooked.
That said, this place is definitely worth a visit...or two...or three...
I have been a big fan of this local place for awhile. We usually head in for HH and some dinner. I always get a burger and love it. Recently we decided to check out their new brunch. I highly recommend the truffled grilled cheese. So good! It has egg, bacon and hollandaise on top. Man alive. Goes great with a manmosa!
Review Source:We went here last Sunday afternoon for burgers knowing that they have Happy Hour all day on Sundays. Â HOWEVER, we were not given the HH Menu and it was not HH because they debuted a new brunch menu last weekend. Â
We saw a few people who had the same idea that we had, grab a couple drinks and burgers, walk out because it was not what they had expected. Â They left, and we stayed.
We stayed and ordered the Breakfast Burger on the new Brunch menu -- topped with bacon, a fried egg, and cheese. Â They served it with breakfast potatoes fried with peppers and a side of sausage gravy for dipping. Â It was excellent.
Even though they changed the all-day Sunday HH, they had a few great drink specials. Â I had a few bottles of New Castle Founder's Ale @ $3 per bottle, which were tasty. Â She opted for the bottomless Mimosa and Manmosa (a pint of Blue Moon with orange & pineapple juice).
We were glad that we did not walk out when the offerings were limited to the new brunch menu, and we look forward to more weekend brunches at Providence.
We went there last night...It's a nice little neighborhood bar, nothing spectacular but what you would expect. It was crowded, but the manager worked his butt off clearing seats and trying to get people in, so we were sat in less than five minutes.
Our server looked like she had 20 gallons of coffee in her, and it was kind of exhausting dealing with her. The rest of the staff was first class, though.
We ordered a couple of glasses of wine and their wings for an app. Great, great wings! I then ordered the chicken sandwich (delicious) while my date ordered their burger, medium rare. The burger came out completely raw, even a little cold inside.
I called up the manager, who cooked another burger, which came out more rare than medium rare. Now, I know these things happen, but the guy could have thrown us some kind of bone (comp the burger or a free dessert/drink, something) instead of the very brief "sorry about that" that we got.
I'd probably try it again, but I humbly think that we could have been taken care of better.
Super tasty burgers, I gotta say.
My husband doesn't much like Edgewater generally -- something about being unfairly ticketed for this or that. So it's *very rarely* that I actually eat in this town, which, after having the fare at Providence Tavern, makes me kind of sad. Because it really is a cool place.
I went there with my husband and kid and all three of us had the burgers. If you read any of my reviews you KNOW that I am always in search of a restaurant that can prepare a burger correctly, in terms of done-ness. Providence Tavern managed it! Order a medium burger and that's what you get; order it medium rare and that's what you get. Given that so many restaurants just can't seem to get that right -- it was refreshing.
All three of us loved our food. The waitress was polite, efficient and always around when we needed her. If I can persuade my husband to go back to Edgewater, we'll give it another try! I highly recommend.
Providence Tavern has the potential to be a great place to eat, drink, and be merry. I went here because of the stellar reviews I read on Yelp. We walk in, there are a swarm of bees at the front window that nobody is doing anything about, we pay $5 for 2 pretzel rolls that are average at best, BUT the flat breads are pretty fantastic. I give this place 3 stars because of the slow service, average customer relations, and the potential to be stung repeatedly by bees. Proceed with caution.
Review Source:We just cancelled out cable (read: we needed somewhere to go to watch the Broncos play) so we headed down to our neighborhood tavern. We got there just after happy hour (bummer!) and ordered a burger and the tacos. The tacos were way better than the burger.
Overall, this place was ok. The food was decent but not amazing, the staff was friendly, and they didn't mind that we occupied a table for a couple hours. Overall: cute neighborhood place but I might try some other local pubs before I head back.
Great little place in Edgewater! Met a friend here and the barkeeps were hottie and sweet. It's cozy and you can tell everyone here is a regular. Â They had great gin for my friend and made me my "old lady drinks" I kept requesting.
Well done! Ambiance, atmosphere, and, *clink* *clink* drink!
WOWSA, this place is ridiculous awesome! Â I just happened to be in this area of Denver and saw the great reviews for this restaurant and had to hit it up. Â
This bar/restaurant is everything and more that the previous reviews have said. Â The drinks were fairly cheap, of course I had the Mirror Pond because it was on special, but they had a bevy of local brews to choose.(I will definitely be back to imbibe in the alcoholic delights.)
Along with the booze, the food was fantastic. Â I had the burger and fries which were cooked to perfection and made to exactly my order. Â My gal had the turkey sandwich, which looked and tasted incredible and my brother had the pulled pork tacos, which definitely were the star of the table. Â
The location and ambiance of the bar was also really cool and laid back which is always a thumb up in my book. Â I highly recommend anyone in the Sloan Lake/Edgewater area to stop by this place. You will not be disappointed!!!
I had a really solid evening at the Providence a couple of weeks back. Sat at the bar to watch the playoff game. The bartender (Danielle?) treated us right. She fixed me up with an excellent burger topped with an egg and was very attentive while we were there. We decided to make our way up 25th on a mini Sloan's bar crawl, but after our third stop, we crawled right back for a nightcap at Providence.
Review Source:I have no idea how I haven't written this review yet... slacker. I know that this will sound like a commercial or like I work there but to quote a shitty Country song, I love this bar.
This place is run well, has great beer specials ($3 Mirror Pond all day every day), a fantastic happy hour and food prices that make you think you're in the middle of small town Kansas instead of in Denver.
The staff is welcoming, they remember your name, and the location is pretty spectacular. Sloan's Lake is such a great view of the city.
If you ever find yourself on this side of the city, day or night, Providence is a fantastic neighborhood bar.
$3 happy hour pint of Guinness?! Â YES, PLEASE!!
Came here on a Sunday afternoon, not very packed at all and was drawn in from the sign outside saying "$3 Guinness." Â I was actually walking to US Thai and got stopped here due to the Guinness attraction. Â
Decided to get some food to accompany my Guinness and since I have been on a health kick, (hence I haven't been reviewing much since I haven't really gone out lately... spring cleaning my body,) I ordered the Hummus plate. Â Didn't realized how much food was with the Hummus, I got talked into a burger as well by the owner of the bar. Â (I didn't know he was the owner until shortly before I left.) Â Him and I agreed on the fact that a lot of the burger places smothered their burgers with cheese and it takes away the flavor of the burger itself. Â Since I couldn't really have cheese anymore, I really got an opportunity to really savor their burger. Â
I ordered the burger without the buns/cheese with a fried egg and some fries. Â First of all, I LOVE their fries. Â It's very well seasoned with maybe a little salt and paprika... not sure what else was on there... maybe garlic? Â It was so delicious I didn't have to cover it in ketchup, in fact, I didn't use any ketchup at all they're so good. Â The burger was very juicy and delicious, slightly rarer than medium but no blood, which I love! Â
They make their Hummus in house, I just so happened to have the roasted red pepper hummus. Â The portion size was great! Â Totally sharable among 3-4 people. Â It comes with carrot/celery sticks, seeded jalapenos, cucumber slices and about 20 small slices of toasted pita bread. Â It was very delicious and I love that they change it up every few days. Â They usually make a big batch and use it over the course of 2-3 days before they make a different flavor. Â So next time I go, I might have garlic hummus, or portobello mushroom hummus, I will never know until I get there! Â
Of course I couldn't finish all the food, my eyes are always greedier than my stomach could handle. Â The hummus travels really well and since the portion was so big, I had my lunch made for the next day. Â All this food and 2 pints of Guinness was right around $20, totally easy on the pocket and US Thai will just have to wait until next time.
Cute little neighborhood tavern with super friendly service and a cozy English pub feel. Seems similar to Sloan's up the street but I enjoy Providence Tavern much more. The happy hour is a great deal with affordable beers and wells, every day from 3 to 7. The food menu is quite large and everything is delicious sounding. I have a hard time deciding what to order every time.
The burgers are really good though, especially when you order the onion rings as a side. Mmm delicious! I always love a good burger. Plus, they have several vegetarian options on the menu as well which is always a bonus in my book because sometimes my husband wants to get a burger and I would rather have a meal meat-free.
Great place, go check it out.
What a great little pub! Stopped by the Providence Tavern (I do not know I've missed it all this time since I adore Edgewater Inn, but I can be a little...oblivious at times) to meet some friends for happy hour and we had the best time!
The staff was AMAZINGLY friendly and let me tell you - they have some fun, inventive and YUMMY cocktails here. I enjoyed the Cucumber Collins and something else...what was that? It tasted like grape Kool Aid but for grown-ups. Yeah I drank the Kool Aid. I drank it and it was good!
We had a few apps - I was particularly fond of the snake bites (bacon-wrapped jalapenos w/ cream cheese). I know, I had you at "bacon-wrapped" and I really liked the fried dumplings (wontons? pot stickers?) as well. The only thing I wasn't raving about was the queso - just not enough flavor there for me, but everything else was fantastico.
Great little neighborhood bar that I'd go back to in a heartbeat. Wonder how much cab fare would be back to Lakewood...those drinks could get me in trouble.
Providence Tavern is a neighborhood bar. Unfortunately, it's a little bit out of my neighborhood, but I still come for an eclectic menu and diverse beer selection, fast and friendly staff, and a generally warm atmosphere.
Everything on the menu is a step above typical bar food in quality, even the pub fare items like the amazingly delicious potato skins. You can also step it up a little with the seared ahi tuna. I recommend the black bean burger, but you really can't go wrong.
So go, eat, drink, and enjoy.
Went back a 2nd time, and received a very average burger. Everyone's burger was a notch overcooked (mediums were med-well, med rare was medium). Food took probably twice as long as it should have to arrive.
4 stars since my first time was great. Hopefully next time it's more like the first.
I have been meaning to come here ever since Bryan and Lacey discovered it, and I finally did after brunch last Sunday. Â I was still on a full tank from our morning meal so I didn't get to try any food here, but I will be writing an update as I will be returning for sure!
Why, you ask? Â It's simply a good bar. Â The bartenders were both awesome, they have good selections of beer and liquor (I had never had Jubel-ale on tap before coming here, nice touch!), and a good little menu of their own concoctions. Â It's a small little neighborhood spot, definitely not a dive, a great place to hang with friends, enjoy a drink, or catch a game.
I'm a fan for sure, and can't wait to go back!
Providence is my new favorite bar... as evidenced by Bryan and I hitting it up once a week since we discovered it. Â Sam (who runs the joint) really did a great job with the decor, ambiance, and staffing. Â It's the type of bar where you WANT everybody to know your name.
Draft selection is amazing, which includes my go-to fav White Rascal. Â You gotta try the Huckleberry Lemonade (yes, it's alcoholic) served in a customized mason jar. Â I hear their bloody mary's are one of the best, and they look divine.
They also have some pretty amazing food on their menu. Â My favorites are the Pretzel Bread app, Burger (which is build your own, with a variety of toppings to choose from), Black & Tan Onion Rings, and Buffalo Chicken Sliders. Â
And one of the best parts of this place...the candy jar on the bar, always filled w/ Starbursts, suckers, etc. Â Brilliant! Â So basically Providence rocks. Â Do yourself and favor and go there soon!!
Aw YEAH!!! Burger Bliss in Edgewater this evening.
I love this little place.
I stopped in for Happy Hour and enjoyed an O'dells 5 Barrel with a rare Bleu Cheese Bacon Burger- by suggestion from one of the regulars seated next to me.
SCORE!
Perfectly cooked burger- thanks again.
Very friendly staff- introducing themselves as well as the owner! Using my name when checking back on me.
I've only been to this little gem of Edgewater one other time- just over a year or so ago (when I just moved to the area)
I will be back!!!
I did overhear the owners plans to remodel the outside patio for triple the seating capacity--as well as his plans to remodel the bar to accommodate MUCH more draught beers and add in another server well to basically triple the output for his barstaff.
mmmmmmm.....Summer looks to be a great one thanks to Providence Tavern
Not wanting to drive too far on the icy roads last night, but wanting a pub atmosphere, we went for another try to Providence Tavern, hoping that the service gods would smile upon us.....
We came in, sat at a table, and waited...... no one acknowledged us. Â Oh no, not again! So I approached the bar which was packed with regulars and saw all the staff around the corner from where we were - no one could see us! Â With contact finally made, the rest of the evening was great. Â Boyfriend happy with his burger, we shared a basket of fries that were just too much for us, and I enjoyed the beer sausage special that included some grilled polenta, fabulous sauerkraut with bacon bits and (the only low-light) a far too soft long roll of white bread to attempt to make a sandwich with......You needed a hearty pumpernickel here, chef!
Happy hour is now extended to 7p, and for some reason this tavern breaks that rule where the bar clock is 10 minutes fast. Â At approximately 7:15 our waitress came by for Happy Hour last call. Â I think I love her.
We won't be back often enough to be considered regulars - which is a large part of the clientele, obviously - but this experience raised the review by a star and I'm officially a fan.
Seriously my new favorite neighborhood bar, and the food is great too!
The bar they brought in from Chicago (?) is beautiful and they have a great outdoor area, although I wish it had more of an outdoor feel.
I am in love with their fries, they use Old Bay on them. My favorite.
The bartenders/wait staff is always friendly, helpful and willing to recommend something on the menu.
This is definitely my go-to place for groups, dates, etc. And you can have a drink here and walk next door to US Thai!
The only negative is that they don't serve food past 10 during the week (it is later on the weekends).
Another cool bar for Edgewater! Yay!!
The atmosphere is great, nice selection of food on the menu and good beers to choose from. Â
We went with a group of people and sat at a huge table in the outdoor, NON-SMOKING, patio!! Â Finally an awesome outdoor patio that doesn't reek of cigarettes! Â The food we ordered was all really good too. Â I had the BBLT, my dad liked the Cincinnati chili (and that's where he's from) and my mom got the Asian salad. Â Good prices on all the food. Â And I would agree with the other reviews that the management goes out of their way to make you feel at home. Â
They're doing a really good job making a really nice neighborhood bar. Â The outdoor patio is a must for the summer!!
I quite love a place that has a veggie option other than a salad and/or a Gardenburger(TM). Â I also love me some Deschutes Black Butte Porter. Â SO. Â A place that has a portabella Reuben *and* BBP? Â I'm. so. there. Â Well, I was. Â A couple of weeks ago. Â But I suspect I'll be heading back sooner rather than later.
The Dude and I stopped in Providence Tavern for dinner before our night out to the Lakewood Symphony. Â Feeling fancy and not wanting the beer bloat during the performance, I opted for their happy hour house white. Â Do yourselves a favor--risk the bloat and skip the wine. Â What was I thinking? Â Well I just said I was feeling fancy! Â No doubt though BBP is a force to be reckoned with; a classy beer, even. Â Next time there will be no debate. Â Only Deschutes.
And the Reuben... oh, with its toasty bread slices and its gooey, delicious Swiss. Â And the mushrooms done in such a way as to not sog up the bread. Â I really need to go back to PT. Â Sandwiches served ala carte, with the add-on option of fries (for $1, I think) or onion rings (for more). Â There might be additional sides but I'm a fries-kind-of-gal, so that's what I went with. Â They definitely could have gone without the seasoned salt, but that's personal preference. Â Perhaps next time I'll go for the onion rings instead.
Providence Tavern is a relaxed, neighborhood kind of place--not at all stuffy but still clean and inviting. Â I look forward to the warmer weather enabling more relaxed evenings on their patio, but even in a rainstorm (or snow--it's Colorado, after all) I could find comfort and contentedness at this place.
Great little bar.
This place is a really nice version of a neighborhood bar. It's small, but it doesn't have Nascar signs and crap on the walls. It's British Pub style.
Both owners were there when a friend and I popped in for a beer ~4pm on a Thursday afternoon. Virtually everything is $3 at happy hour (drafts, house wine, wells). Their wings are breaded and come with dipping sauces on the side (rather than saucy wings). We had a very fun chat with the owner/bartender about the St Patty's shenanigans the night before.
They have a fantastic, covered patio out back by the parking lot. Unfortunately, you are so close to Sloan's but there is no view from the patio. But, it is an awesome place to chill with friends and have a brew. We will most definitely be back with the http://meetin.org crew in tow for a summer happy hour ;)
I could skip all the word play and admit that I would freely give four to five stars to any bar that has Deschutes Obsidian Stout on draft. There are, however, other good reasons to venture to Edgewater and find your yourself at the small, but able Providence Tavern. The Happy Hour will be the primary reason when good beer is available. Drafts are only $3 from 3-7 on M-F and that's a damn good deal when you're peddling micros alongside your one Bud Light tap. The selection includes locals as well as brews from Anchor, Full Sail and the aforementioned Deschutes. The bottled beers continue the trend and I'm pretty sure I saw one table order a bucket of bottled PBRs if you're not into the whole artisan beer thing.
Service was prompt and apologetic for food not being out yet (though honestly, we hadn't noticed or deemed it an issue). The menu offers a little bit more than your usual bar fare, but upon first glance comes with familiar hits and misses, including not much for those looking to "eat healthy" while drinking unhealthily. I was positively thrilled to be able to get a fried egg on my burger and quite pleased that the burger was NOT a total gut bomb, but rather the perfect size for a combination dinner and happy hour. Â I was privately devastated that they were out of their black and tan onion rings (though used that to leverage eating ice cream later in the night). The potstickers on the other side of the table were underwhelming, but it was really my own fault for not informing my lady friend that there's no such thing as a bar that makes good, let alone non-microwaved, potstickers.
I was able to drink, converse and watch sports on TV without the overwhelming blare of said sports pumped through the PAs you'd get at most bars that play sports on TV. The place is pretty small and I can see it starting to fill up pretty quickly; especially being the best option along the hip, urban pub crawl emerging along the patio-friendly block that now includes the Cooler, GBs, Walk-In, Sloan's and the love-it or hate-it classic Edgewater Inn.
Okay, I've been here at least once a week since they've opened (often more than that), and really these guys have nailed it.
Service is always prompt, the food is amazeballs (check out their sausage platter and burgers) and cheap, and the owners really go the extra mile to make you feel like a valued customer.
Bonus for the ladies (and well-adorned men), they have purse hooks underneath their bar. Honestly I'm surprised that not all bars have these. Â
Their selection of beers is great, but not overwhelming and their cocktails are a mix of familiar and innovative. Â Their Happy Hour also boasts great deals.
I can't wait until summer, as I may be claiming a permanent spot on their patio.
