"Ribs were great. Service sucked. I ordered fried chicken; got chicken fingers. Another ordered teriyaki chicken; got dry chicken no sauce. My sister-in-law never got her order at all. Waitress knew nothing about food on the menu. She failed."

Went this past Wednesday while working the Ft. Lauderdale Boat Show, party of 8 at around 3pm.  The place was near empty (maybe 3 other tables and 1 person at the bar) and I only saw 3 staff members working in total.

The decor is standard seafood chain restaurant only added Halloween decorations because it's that time of year.

Our server was friendly and prompt, and they had an awesome special; Blackened or grilled chicken ceasar wrap and choice of side for $5.99!

I wasn't feeling chicken so I opted for the cheesteak which was just OK.  1/4 of the meat was wayy overcooked, should have tried the wrap.  My coworkers said they loved their food.  Almost all of them had the special, one guy had their wings which he said were great.

Our server came back and checked on us often, refilled our drinks (I don't know if the refills were free because my boss picked up the tab) and we got to keep our cups.

I'll have to go back and try this place again before I can give it any more stars

It's got to be pretty bad when I give it one star.  I'm pretty laid back for a wanna-be foodie.  If I could give this place negative stars then I would.   I ate here while on a biz trip with a co-worker.  We were going to the Southport Raw Bar but it was closed for a private event so we had to settle for walking across the street to Quarterdeck.  I assured my counter-part this place was "okay" because I had a friend who used to work at the one in Plantation and we'd ate/hung out there several times during football season.  I love the atmosphere since it is a coastal theme with lots of sport fish on the walls, because...I'm into that.  I will say that there was a young good looking crowd which also helps.  Unfortunately, this was some of the worst service I can remember in my life.  The waitress was cold, uninterested, distracted, and apathetic.  My friend asked for an extra "side" of broccoli since the fish entree only came with one side, and he never got it.  In fact, she never came back to our table ONCE after serving our food until we flagged someone else down for the check.  She didn't ask how the food was, she didn't ask about refills, she didn't give my friend a chance to remind her of the forgotten vegetable.  She was far too interested in her multiple groups of friends that were sitting at various other tables around the restaurant to pay any attention to us.  She would even make eye contact with us and then have the nerve to just walk away after we were making it pretty clear with our body language that we needed her attention, and not in a rude way.  I can't believe I didn't complain to the manager, but then again we were both extremely worn out from travel and didn't really feel like it.  A different waiter finally noticed how neglected we were and came over and asked if we needed anything.  This was after I was finished eating my over-cooked, rubber snapper and I said that we've been needing our check for awhile.  Then, to my utter disbelief, he didn't apologize and just said "hey, it's not my fault, she's your waitress".  Absolutely terrible.  I mean, where is the manger in all this?  Was there anyone there with at least a hint of authority?  After the other brilliant server finally forced our waitress to come drop our check, she didn't even say a word when she dropped it off.  I looked at my buddy and said "wow".  It's as if we did something to offend them, only, I'm a nice guy and neither one of us were rude or smug in any way.  I will never ever go back to this pitiful excuse for a restaurant, and I sure as heck won't be sending any business their way.  I hope the manager or owner reads this review, if he or she even cares.  My only regret is actually tipping that rude waitress 20%.  I guess at the time I was having a non judgmental moment and figured maybe she was having a bad day.

The Quarterdeck has an outstanding location. The food was okay, the waiter was embarrassed and rightfully so. Everything was okay until we received our check. My partner and I decided to have some drinks while enjoying  Fort Lauderdale's beautiful beach and ocean. We were sated, full and happy. Our waiter brought our check when we asked for it. While perusing the bill we noticed an odd charge. On the bill it said rocks...$2.00. We were perplexed and asked our waiter about this charge. The waiter profusely apologized, he said he has nothing to do with the charge but management automatically adds this charge to everyone's bill.
THIS FEE IS FOR ICE! I asked to see the manager and my partner and I  were taking bets as to whether this person would really come out.  As expected the item was removed from the bill and the manager  never did come out.

BTW....they are the same owners of ARUBAS cafe...no surprise there

Hey management....you would be better off charging $2.00 for the view

Discovered their Maine lobster special last night and it was a great deal!  $13.95 for 1 1/4 lb served with drawn butter and your choice of side - slaw, fries, baked potato, sweet potato fries, taters, or mixed veggies, or steamed broccoli!  They are offering the lobster special Tuesday and Thursday nights... I understand they have several nightly specials for $9.99. The place was very busy and there seemed to be a lot of locals, so you know that is a good sign!  I definitely will be back!

Did return on Sunday and tried their rib special. Wow, incredible deal!  Full rack of baby back ribs for only $10.99, and includes one side. The waitress recognized me and asked if I had been in before and gave me a loyalty card which gives you 2 drinks for 1 and also earns you credits... something like $5 off for every $50 you spend there!

I discovered the Quarterdeck a few years ago but didn't start going on a regular basis until about 2 years ago and now I am there at least once a week, if not more--usually on Fridays for their jambalaya, one of the best in the city, when it is on special for $9.99. They have different lunch and evening specials every day and I have yet to have a bad dish from their Chicken Francois to the ribs to the scampi plus the sandwiches.
Lauri, Timothy and John, just to point out 3 of their servers,  are top notch as is the manager Joe who is very accomandating.
The food and service are consistently good at the Quarterdeck and that can't be said about many restaurants in South Florida. Being in the restaurant business for 38 years when I find a good place I'm there!

PS Just as they have specials all year round they have 'special' specials in the summer and in December for the holiday season. They are offering a lobster special now--a great way to get introduced to the Quarterdeck!

Local Bar Grill good for a cold beer, tv, and burgers.  Friendly staff reasonable priced menu.
A little on the dive side due to lack of upkeep.  The owners need to reinvest some profits into the place like the rundown swinging chairs and dirty hurricane shutters.  A little TLC is needed in general, like Paint.  There is a hardware store next door, a gallon of fresh paint isn't expensive dude! I am referring to the ceiling and fans outside and the dirty awning.  The really cool fire pit takes away from this.  Also, please season your burgers before you cook them, same goes for the beach location.

Daily Food Specials ($9.99 each with purchase of a beverage):

    Sunday: FULL rack of babybacks

    Tuesday: Fajitas
    Wednesday: 12oz Prime Rib

The wedge bleu cheese salad with bacon and tomatoes is soo good!

I will definitely be back soon!

Quarterdeck is close to a cluster of restaurants that are always on my "must go to" list when in Fort Lauderdale (Southport Raw Bar and Kelly's)  So it's no wonder that on my visits to this town, I usually pop into Quarterdeck for one reason or another.

On my last trip it was for a late night beer out on their casual patio with friends.  On this trip it was for a casual dinner given the lines at the other fore mentioned places were too long for this girl  Not  necessarily a destination for me, but the staff is friendly, the beer cold and the food pretty good and relatively cheap.

Sit outside if you can.  You are likely to meet other people at the communal tables or at least be entertained by the antics of the people there (this depends on what time of the year you are here- more antics during Spring break!)  During the rest of the season, the crowd of regulars is laid back and welcoming.

Inside- it's a pretty typical bar, but the bartenders always shout out a greeting with a wave to "sit anywhere"!

What I did discover on this visit was the jambalaya. . . a Friday night special and was quite good!

Sit outside, grab a beer and relax.  For life at the Quarterdeck is laid back and pretty friendly.  And isn't that just what a bar should be??

All I have to say is: $9.99 for a whole rack of ribs with two sides!

I eat at this restaurant often because I live close by, they serve food and alcohol late, they have happy hours special during all hours of operation if you have a Quarterdeck loyalty card, and the fajitas are really good.

I pretty much always order the combo (chicken and steak) fajitas when I go here I think they are yummy.

The service here usually sucks, but there are some servers that have worked there for a while that are really good.

Frankie is great, theres a girl with a big tattoo on her arm that also does a good job, and a tallish pretty blonde girl does a really good job as well.

If you plan on going here to eat later in the evening plan on getting crappy service especially if you sit outside as the servers are usually busy with drunk customers as well as having to go all the way to the bar an kitchen for food and drinks.

Also get a loyalty card because they dont send you mail or emails but you do get $5 off for every $50 you spend plus the $5 adds up at one point I had $70 on my loyalty card because when I went with large groups of friends I had my card swiped on the total bill which made my amount accrue quickly.

They do have the sports on TV, but I dont love the setup of the TV's not the best for watching games, but not bad either.

This corner-pub style casual eatery, which has been around since 1966, fits the bill if you're looking for for good food and moderate pricing. Feel comfortable donning a coverup and walking up from the beach for a great meal. Outdoor and indoor seating.

Strolled in on a rainy Monday and sat on the covered patio in a gliding booth. Our server appeared with a smile and delivered a surprisingly diverse menu.

I chose the fish tacos (three generous tacos) which were served with beans and rice with flavorful pico de gallo, guacamole and sour cream. Pleasing, fresh, and plentiful.

My husband had the yellowfin tuna philly sandwich with tots. The tuna was ordered as medium, and it was perfectly prepared. The sandwich was massive, heaping with chunks of tuna, strips of sauteed pepper, and dripping with melted cheese.

The server didn't check on us very much, but that was alright, since we were served 16 oz bottles of beer.

Got the teriyaki chicken sandwich. I only ate half because the taste of salt was so over powering. Would have given it one star but the service was great.

For a neighborhood tavern I was very pleased.  Fair selection of beers.  Would definitely eat there again.

Meh indeed. I haven't been to this location in awhile but decided to stop in since we had a Buy one entree, get a half rack of ribs coupon. We were going to sit inside by the bar area but after getting a look at the crowd that was sitting at the bar, we went outside. Sketchtastic looking crowd-one with an eye patch, another was taking up three or four stools and I think he was sleeping there and the rest looked like they just got out jail.

Food was mediocre and it pains me to say that seeing that I love bar food. I got the fish & chips and the fish must have been past it's expiration because it was not fresh. The wedge salad was enough for three people to share and probably the best part of our meal. Our server was always a step behind. We would ask for lemons, she would come back without them and we would ask for lemons again then a refill then five minutes later she would come back with the lemons only.  Just a very weird experience all in all. Props to them for having a sweet patio area and serving Diet Dr. Pepper!

I have been a patron of this Quarterdecks on and off for the past 15 years, as I am a Rio Vista native.  This used to be one of my favorite neighborhood haunts, but I will be skipping it from now on.  Since moving back to the neighborhood about 6 months ago I have eaten here a few times and it has been a gamble as to whether we would receive any service period.  On a recent visit it took them 45 minutes to take our food order, I could tell our server was overwhelmed, but the manager seemed to be oblivious of this and rather preferred to chit chat with some bar customers instead of helping his staff.  Other occasions our food has come out before our drinks and often I have been treated like a nuisance rather than a valued guest.  The final straw was this past week, my husband and I decided to have lunch at Quarterdecks, it was about 1:00 p.m. on a Wednesday.  A very nice hostess seated us outside and stated that our server would be right with us, after waiting a half an hour without being greeted, and watching  our server and the manager walking past our table multiple times we decided to leave and go to the Raw Bar across the street.  We told the hostess this as we were leaving, she was apologetic and offered to get us some free soup, but at this point it was too little too late.  We went across the street and received great food and service at the Raw Bar.

Great ribs ruined by slow and terrible service.

The owner needs to fire the wait staff and hire people who care about getting the order right, getting customers served and getting drinks refilled.  I have gone to Quarterdeck several times and each time, getting  drink and an order in whether it is at the bar or outside is like pulling teeth.  The staff spends too much time talking to one another and not enough time checking on tables.

A group of us went there on boat show weekend, and had to wait over 5 minutes to be greeted by a hostess who told us to sit anywhere we wanted outside.  After sitting we waited another 15 minutes and got nothing but attitude when we asked for service.  So, we got up and left.  Halfway though the parking lot, a waiter finally walked by and apologized as he saw us leave.  He stated that the manager sent half the staff home after lunch.  It was 2:00 in the afternoon.  When I called to speak to the manager, the coward never answered the phone.

Lousy, way to run a business.  It embarrassed me to take clients there.  That was the last time I visited.  Never again.

Beer and burgers are good here. Similar to a NY friendlys. Always greet you with a smile.. The outside booths offer a refreshing spary if the humidity is up there...

Worst service I've had in recent memory. Everybody was grumbling; Obviously no (worthwhile) management. Why bother with so many better choices in this neighborhood?

I certainly didn't quite enjoy my food selection on my recent trip to the area. I've been here a few times previously and I honestly can't remember what I ever ate before. I had the turkey burger with tater tots and it wasn't that great. The turkey burger had no flavor and the tots were just as plain.

I did however like the service and staff and I also like the setup of this place. There is enough seating and TVs to enjoy a good night out. The beer selection is adequate and they do have a decent size menu for food as well.

Within walking to the distance to the beach, this looked like a good place to get some grub with some friends.

We were a group and we told the hostess we needed a table. She just stood there paralyzed until we told her we were all there. She sat us and the waitress took our drink order. About 10 minutes later, the drinks arrived. We all ordered our meals and waited patiently for our lunch. It was a weekend and it wasn't packed but it was busy. Our meals arrived about 25 minutes after ordering.

I ordered a cheeseburger medium well and I got a flavorless, gray beef pattie with some fries that looked like they came out of a bag. The pattie had no taste and I had to drown it in ketchup. The beef tasted like it had been cryogenically frozen and was thawed just for me. The fries were average. Needless to say I was dissapointed with the burger and fries. The group I was with enjoyed their meals so I guess it was just my meal that was blah.

Flannigan's Quarterdeck is somewhat of an institution in Fort Lauderdale, so I am somewhat reluctant to write this review, however, as I sit here, the horrible meal sits heavy on my stomach and the lazy half-assed service is still fresh in my memory - so here we go.

Three of us arrived at Quarterdeck tonight hungry.  So hungry that it would not take much to satisfy us.  we were looking for a simple meal at a reliably good restaurant.  we have all lived in Fort Lauderdale for at least 15 years (one of us is a native) and have had numerous good, affordable meals there over the years.  This made the exerience that much more of a surprise.  The "hostess" who ignored us for 5 minutes finally seated us in a booth in the main dining room, where we waited.  And waited.  And waited for someone to offer a drink from the bar, a menu or even a set of silver.  The server who finally took our drink order never returned.  Another server took it again and returned with three beers but dashed off before we could ask about specials or order an appetizer.  The young man who finally sauntered over to take our order (easily 40 minutes after we sat down) acted as though he couldn't be bothered with us.  His body language and attitude spoke volumes about how much he cared about serving us.

In fairness, the smoked fish dip was outstanding.  It was fresh, flavorful and had a very pleasing, chunky texture.  (Too many local restaurants serve fish dip that's been whipped in a food proccessor to the consistancy of baby food.)  After that, it was all downhill.  the steamed clams were slimy and not fresh.  The fish tacos (we substituted Mahi for the tilapia) were plain awful, and so bland it was hard to tell whether the kitchen remembered to make the change.  There was a blue cheeseburger that was, in all honesty, the worst burger that I have ever tasted - worse that a costco patty and obviously a frozen Sysco product.  The meal was rounded out with a 1/2 rack of dry, bland ribs.

Throughout this dissapointment of a meal, we were never asked once if everything was OK, or if we needed anything.  It seemed as though the servers were totally disorganized and noone had been assigned to any particular table.  We got up to get our own ketchup and hot sauce (which did little to help the meal) and waited with empty drinks for over 5 minutes on two occasions.  We ended up leaving half-full beers on the table in an effort to put the meal behind us.

Until Quarterdeck gets their act together, I would not recommend this place.  If you're in the neighborhood and hungry for "Pub & Grill" food, try Southport Raw Bar, Kelly's Landing or Waxy O'connors instead.

I used to live in South Florida and this is one of the places I miss the most.  Every time I visit, I go here first.  I like the Quarterdeck that's a block from the beach.  They always have great blackened dolphin or grouper, the best little garlic potatoes and at night the best deal on Snow Crab legs!  They are wonderful.  Nothing like a tall, cold beer and smoked fish dip too.  Wish we had the Quarterdeck here in Indianapolis!  Very reasonably priced too.

Good down to earth little pub and grill. Corner lot with parking in front and some trees that hides a somewhat boring view of strip malls. Outside seating even though that seems to fill up on weekend nights.

Decent food and beer selection. We tried fish and chips and calamari with jalapeo and both dishes were as good as I'd expect from such a place and price.

Wish they'd expand the beer selection with something a little more full bodied like a Sam Adams, Sierra Nevada or even a craft brew, but perhaps most people don't ask for that.

Tired of $6 beers and $12 burgers so common in a beach-vacation town? Then head to the Quarterdeck for a bit of normalcy in price and crowd.

The Quarterdeck could pass for any college neighborhood beer and burger joint. Nothing fancy, just straight up good and reasonable with plenty of televised football and surfing.

No fuss, no muss, no huge dinner bill.
