I recently discovered this neighborhood bar and I'm actually very happy I did.
I had been looking for a place to call "home" lately since I have been friendless and dateless for the last few months. Boohoo! Â =( Â It's not really because I'm hated by everyone, but mostly because my 2 BFFs just had babies, and because I seem to have no luck with the opposite sex. So while wallowing in my pity, I started coming here solo.
Let me tell you, it is one of the friendliest bars I have been to in a long time. It is so easy to start up a conversation with the fellow patrons and the music has always been drinking friendly. They play XM radio and there is also a jukebox.
I really like the outdoor patio in the back. That is where you can find the smokers. I noticed they have a bar in the patio too but I think it is mostly used during the summer months.
This place is a gotta try.
R Place is a perfect example of why I prefer the dive bar. The crowd here is always innocuous. No pretension or douche baggery.
Everybody here gets along and just wants to unwind and have a good time. Nothing fancy. The beer selection is even below my standards, but it's okay. Drinking here for a couple hours with a friend makes me happy, and lets me forget about this sick, deranged world we live in.
The first time I came here, I passed it up. It's that small. But once you walk inside, it's reminiscent of a cozy, warm blanket. But with more drunk people.
This place features more dive than Michael Phelps, but it's all good. Sometimes, that's all we need.
