Yes! After our horrid experience at The Melting Pot, Tricia and Jake made everything better! They are awesome bartenders!! We don't get to have a date night often so we take them VERY seriously. Who knew that a hotel bar could not only meet but BEAT or expectations! We will certainly be back. With friends! *love*

For a hotel bar, this place exceeded all expectations! Very good service, and friendly people that work at the bar. Worth a repeat visit. Good for travelers to find a friendly place to visit for a few hours. I forget the bartenders name but think it was Melissa or something, anyways, had a generous pour and funny. Good place!

Cute lil bar if you wanna grab a drink with a friend. It's a small bar in the center of a lobby , so don't expect much. The service is top notch, everyone was wonderful. My favorite drink was the Purple Rain Martini, definitely will go back for one or two. Didn't make it out to the patio but it seemed cozy. I went on a Saturday night it was never full but traffic came in and out, the crowed was ok all different ages. Definitely not a party bar but if you are looking for a quite places with good drinks try this place out.

Just had one drink here on my way to my room and I'd say it looked like a pretty cool place to hang out and have a drink. Would love to go back and hang out for a little while longer and taste more of their drinks.

The outdoor area is great in the evenings. There's a cool fire pit, and I would love to come back during warmer evening with friends for a chill time.

The inside bar is not very private, and only one section of the water feature was working, which seemed ironic for its name.

There was some sort of reunion happening between the bar and Starbucks, so the entire place was crawling with older folk catching up.

We split the western cheeseburger. I thought it was only so-so, but the boyfriend thought it was great. I much preferred the sweet potato fries.

Like I said, it's a great little place outdoors. Maybe I'll come by for happy hour some day.

Been trying to get to this place for a while now, since I bought the Living Social deal and all. Finally made it here on a Saturday. Hotel and valet parking is not free so I recommend parking in the Del Amo mall parking lot directly across the street from the hotel. As soon as you walk in the lobby, the bar is right in your face. Took a lap around the bar and patio to get an ideal of the layout. The patio area is very nice. Lots of superior patio furniture and numerous types fire pits. They also have cabanas. And the cool thing about the cabanas is that they don't have to be reserved. First come, first served. The patio is perfect for groups. Unfortunately, there are no TVs outside.

I don't know about on weekdays, but the bar is low-key. I could only imagine that on some days its sterile. But you gotta remember, the bar is in the middle of the Marriott lobby, so its safe to say they are not going for a loud shot taking bar full of wooo girls. By just people watching, you can see numerous airline pilots and flight attendants who seemed like they were fresh off an LAX runway checking in.

Rain has a nice beer selection of bottles and drafts. Even though the bar is in a International hotel chain, the prices are very reasonable. After ordering the wings both traditional and Thai style, both were good. The Old School Cheeseburger was excellent. The fried egg on the burger really set it off. The BBQ Cheeseburger was also good. The Texas toast was a nice compliment to the burger. We also received great service by Stephanie from Germany, the land of fine engineering. Rain would be a nice place to go to watch the game without the sometimes raunchy crowd. More of a lounge than a bar. Will definitely go again.

There's some weird wording in some of the reviews for this place. It's a damned hotel bar. It's at the base of the Torrance Marriott South Bay. If you don't have a car, you don't have an option. If you do have a car, you still barely have any options outside of the closest chain restaurant's "bar" area.

Surprisingly you won't be gouged normal hotel prices for drinks. At roughly $10 for wine, $6 for beers, and $9+ for specialty cocktails, this really isn't a bad option to get your drink on. And if you're stuck in Torrance for any kind of extended work, this place is probably nothing less than a Godsend.

The bartenders were amicable and funny and made sure my drinks were goooood.
Wink! There is plenty of seating inside or outside by the fire place. There is variety of people stopping by due it being inside the Marriott. People are friendly and respectful. Not the average bar. I'd say 2-3 steps above. Definitely on another plane. A good place to relax and unwind with friends or by yourself. Two thumbs up to the bartenders.

Came here for happy hour and ordered fries with sea salt and the pizza. The fries were okay, but just normal fries (same as the Wendy's fries, which now are sea-salted too!). The pizza tasted just like a pepperoni flatbread, nothing special and a little greasy. Service was alright, and they do have a lot of TVs for you to watch different games, etc. Don't think I'd come back though, there are just much better HH places out there

Within the walls of the Torrance Marriott, right in the middle of the lobby, lies Rain Wine Bar.

If you're not paying attention, you may walk right past it. Although it is kind of hard to miss the huge wall of spirits and wines placed up so high that a rolling ladder is needed. Kind of makes you want to jump behind the bar and ride it like Belle in Beauty & the Beast. Of course while singing "Bonjour!"

But I digress. This bar and lounge is quite a nice spot if you're looking to grab a bite to eat or even have a drink after work (especially if it's Happy Hour). I came here with a friend because I had a http://Restaurant.com certificate but I will have to come back again since I just got a Groupon for Christmas!

The best part of my meal here was definitely the warm potato chips. They are quite addictive and served with a yummy sauce which is reminiscent of a classic onion dip, just a little more fancy. Also, the bartender that was serving us was very friendly and knew how to make one hell of a Bloody Mary. Probably one of the best I've ever tasted.

Along with the chips and cocktails, we ordered some calamari and a couple of burgers. The burgers were both pretty good but nothing out of the ordinary. A little too charred tasting for me personally but other than that, acceptable. The calamari on the other hand I would not get again. They were quite tough, definitely overcooked and rubbery, and there was just nothing very special about them.

I would come back for the drinks and chips alone, but I would definitely like to try their Thai hot wings next time! Oh also, I didn't use this last time, but if you Check-In here I believe they give you 10% off your food. Not too shabby, I'd say.

Rain Bar and Lounge is located smack right in the middle of the Torrance Marriott Hotel. I love this place. My relative stayed here during their visit from Malaysia. Since then I've been hanging out here a few times. Great after work chill lounge. Its never overcrowded or too loud here. The decor is beautiful as it extends from the middle of the hotel to the Lobby area.

Drinks are well mixed and bartenders are super nice! Free one hour parking for the hotel parking lot.

My wife and I checked this place out since we had purchased a gift certificate from http://Restaurants.com for $25 worth of food at something like $2. It's basically the Torrance Marriott's hotel bar, but it is kind of like a lounge that extends into the lobby area and off to the sides.

Most of the tables and the bar were occupied when we arrived at around 8pm but we were able to grab a table for two by one of the columns. At the table was the drink and food menu. There are a good amount of wines available by the glass or in bottles. The prices are not amazing for wines by the glass. Usually $8-$14. The sorting is by color and lighter to stronger/full-bodied. They also have specialty cocktails and a variety of beer options, only some of which were interesting. Only one server was working, but one or two bar tenders were behind the bar, too.

We each started with a glass of Sterling chardonnay, which was recommended based on our request for an oakey/buttery chardonnay. It was pretty good. Then we ordered our food.

First we got the cobb salad because it was listed as one of the items that would be available in 5 minutes or less. It was promptly delivered and was a pretty decent sized salad. Lots of fresh turkey, tasty bacon, egg, blue cheese, etc. that one would expect. Really good.

Next we got the crispy calamari with a spicy jalapeno dip. This too was very good with nicely textured calamari that was well complemented by the dipping sauce.

Lastly, we got the Marriott burger, which came with cheddar, bacon, and the usual produce accompaniments. The burger was a little on the dry side, but very filling. I selected for it to come with french fries, which were very good and went well with the ranch dressing they provided.

All in all, a pretty solid meal from a hotel lounge bar. Just wish the prices were a little more reasonable.

Summary: Location is hotel lobby. Self park with validation to save money. Service was pretty rapid given just one guy doing most of it. Pretty good wine selection (glass and bottle), though prices are a bit high. Food is excellent overall. Recommend the cobb salad and calamari in particular. Look for coupons on http://Restaurants.com to really make the experience worth it.

My friends and I came here because I had bought a groupon for this place. When we first walked in, we walked past it. I wasn't really expecting the Rain Bar to be in a hotel lobby. The environment outside was relaxed and chill. The cocktail and wine selection was on par and the food was decent. We ordered the calarmari, gyoza, and spicy yellow tail. My friends ordered the burgers and they looked good. Our server was pretty attentive while we were inside, but we had to go order drinks and food once we went outside. He(the server who looked like the Rock, or as my friend said Vin Diesel) was spread pretty thin inside.
If I lived in the South Bay, I would come here for Happy Hour after work. I understand that their happy hour begins at 3.

Great place to hang with friends. Like the outdoor fire pit. I heard they're adding some new furniture and fire pits on the other side too. Definitely going to check that out. Menu is reasonable too. Calamari rocks!

For a hotel lobby bar, The Rain Bar is well above average. Nice seating and decor. Happy hour prices start at 3pm. Service was attentive.

Great place to hang out and chill with work buddies or friends. (it would also be a good place to take a date. It's quiet, but yet social at the same time.)

Reasonably priced drinks, pretty good food and good service.

Came here with husband after lunch to have drinks. This establishment was clean. The bar has a big wine selection. My first order was a Rain Punch (a Rum drink). It was very good. Tasted like a Capri Sun, with too much ice. Next I tried their Goombay Smash which was stronger..also good. I don't know what kind of beer they had besides Stella. Vallet parking was $17 after 2 hours. Park yourself and get your ticket stamped by the bartender for free parking.

I came with a friend for a drink one weekday evening and was pleased with the wine list. Keep in mind, this is a hotel bar, so you will pay hotel bar prices. However, the bartenders knew the wines and were discreet but attentive. Mostly business travelers were in the place, but it was busy enough to make for interesting people-watching. It was a bonus that there were flat screen TV's in the bar so we could watch some sports as well. Overall a pleasant bar. We didn't try any of the food items but others near us didn't seem blown away. One person next to me actually complained about his order, but I went for the wine, not the food.

Located in the Marriott hotel, Rain has feel of a bar in an airport. The bar is in an open area near check-in and other services at the Marriott. The seating is comfortable, and the bar features a rain-like lighting system to add ambiance to the bar; however, real water is not used. The crowd is mostly older businessmen and businesswomen; in addition, there seemed to be a large number of airplane personnel (pilots and flight attendants) staying at the hotel. There is a nice television to catch the big sports game.

In terms of the food at the bar/lounge area, it isn't that good--mediocre at best. We had the Angus Beef Sliders (not that tasty--didn't care for the caramelized onions, burger was dry). The dish was served with french fries, which were fine but got cold fast.

We also had the buffalo shrimp with celery. The celery wasn't that fresh, but the shrimp was okay. The buffalo sauce was tasty and while the shrimp was not perfectly cooked (it was definitely far from being overcooked).

The cheese plate wasn't that good. It was served with olives, miniscule walnut pieces, and three kinds of cheeses. I think we had a cheddar, a goat cheese, and then maybe a swiss. The cheese wasn't bad, but it was something you would expect to get at your local chain supermarket.
