Terrible food, worse than i expected. Â Suitable only for children, conferencees stuck in the hellhole that is Rosemont, or people who like bland, greasy food. Â If you had lunch at Arby's, you can keep the ball rolling here.
Beers are mediocre, and tend toward the sweet and bland in an apparent effort to please the masses. Â I do not know where they got the medals by the hostess stand, but I bet they were not recent or otherwise related to the beers I had.
Service was pleasant but incompetent; two of the four entrees came out wrong.
But .. if you have to eat here, take the time to savor the hilarity that is the menu. Â Actually, four menus. Â There is the regular menu, so vast that it ensures no one item will be made well. Â It is filled with confusing disclaimers, incomprehensible icons, legal warnings, badly conceived food items, and random coloring. Â Next is the happy hour/drink menu, which contains an assortment of bad food and overpriced, unpalatable drinks. Â Then the special burger menu, which includes a few odd appetizers (black bean hummus -- what the hell is that?) -- and desserts. Â The table tent is large and obnoxious enough that it counts as an extra menu. Â A marketing department gone completely insane. Â Gordon Ramsey would have a heart attack immediately upon arrival.
My family and I went to Ram last nite. Reminded me of Lettuce Entertain restaurants. Right off the bat the waiter asks for drinks and said if you order a double $3.99 extra that it saves you $ on drinks so we said ok if it was truely a double. It was not. Shame on you Ram, do you really need the $4 per person to stay in bis ? We all chose the two for $20 dinner and my wife & I had a salad. I chose the sirloin & chick. breast. The steak was delicously tender, the chick seemed to be from a pidgeon. All dinners were served lukewarm to cool. The veg served w seemed predominantly red and green pepper. My dad loved his mac & cheese. Over all, Ram is into portion control big time. I did have the yeast beer and that was good. I wish the waiter had mentioned the beer before hitting us up for the double drink option but then they wouldn't be up by $16.
Review Source:Not great. Â Nothing was awesome. Â My husband (who likes anything he eats, usually) was not impressed with his dinner of the Buttface Burger, or his dessert (Mint Choc Chip cupcake). Â I opted for a Thai Salad, it was nothing special. Â I was so hungry that I ate it all, but I was starving - not because it was amazing. Â Service was lackluster. Â My BIL and GF go there often and like the place. Â Maybe an off night, but I won't be back to find out.
Review Source:I have been here a few times. The food is just okay. The reason for giving 2 stars is because my last visit I ordered a Rubin and the corned beef tasted like rubber. For the first time ever I sent a dinner back. I ended up just having a side salad. Wasn't my cup of tea. The server was cool about it I apologized for being one of those people who send food back and explained that I never did that before. So to me the food was just not good. Everyone else with had a decent dinner. Just could be the corned beef was bad that night :)
The place is cool and you will find many Wolves fans there before a game during hockey season. It's a great place to grab a drink and dinner before the game and meet up with your friends. Â Just don't have the Corned Beef!!
Meh... I got the Ricardo and fried pickles for an app. Â SALTY, is the only way I can describe the meal. Â I understand I am signing up for some sodium with those selections, but it was a bit over the top to the point where the only thing I could taste in the sandwich was salt. Â Also the Hefe I had to drink was just ok.
Review Source:Not usually my first choice (service is sometimes very slow), but a good place to take a bunch of guys in town for a sales workshop. Buttface Amber Ale and their famous meatloaf made it enjoyable. Appetizers were typical sports-bar type (wings, potato skins, cheese sticks, spinach/artichoke dip). Good, but nothing to brag about.
Review Source:I stopped by here to watch the game on a Sunday and was not disappointed. Â They had a nice beer selection and great service... I'm on a roll lately as the last dozen places I have visited have had great service, (knocking on wood).
I tried these Armadillo eggs for an appetizer, which is new, and they were really good. Â Then after halftime I grabbed a burger and it was fantastic... I don't know if they patty them fresh but it sure tasted like they did.
Overall I would grab a burger, beer and watch the game here again if in the area. Â Two thumbs up!
Their beer is great, along with many of their signature mixed drinks.
The food could use improvement. Â We usually come here after the Wolves hockey games (a family friend works for them), so its later and its the weekend. Â Typically we order appetizers to munch on with our drinks.
The music in this place: too loud.
Service: It always varies. Â The last time we were here our waiter, who was Hispanic, spoke in broken English with a heavy accent, and spoke too fast. Â Plus with the loud music he was almost impossible to hear or understand.
Ram is great for drinks and munching, but not some place I would go for a Saturday evening dinner.
4 stars for the beer at the RAM. Â Really good Octoberfest but the rest of the beers are good too. Food is decent. Â They've picked up their game since i was here last. Try the Alaskan BLTA = grilled salmon BLT sandwich + avocado. Add garlic fries (while not as good as those at Gordon Beirsh) and we're in business.
Love that it's close by and def a must try. Great for kids too.
Arrived at around 12:30pm and it wasn't too crowded, but it took forever to have the hostess seat me. Arrived at the table and it was very sticky, like it had been "cleaned" with a sugary drink. The server was good and the Thai Chicken salad was excellent. The garlic fries were the best I've had so far. All in all, not a bad place.
Review Source:I needed a place near the Rosemont Convention Center for my boyfriend's surprise birthday party. Â I figured the RAM was perfect- it was nearby, laid back, and had BEER. Â
The restaurant scored points with me days in advance. Â I had to change attendance numbers 3 times; they accommodated with no fuss. Â Thumbs up for patient staff members, thumbs-down for indecisive friends.
The staff continued to shine at the event. Â Chicago Comic Con made the restaurant busy and the birthday boy late, and the RAM didn't mind. Â They also allowed us to bring our own cake, which featured Yoda from Star Wars and some unfortunate Littlest Pet Shop animals. Â The workers kindly kept the bizarre confection in the kitchen and popped in some candles. Â The entire restaurant clapped after the Happy Birthday song.
Sean, our waiter, was fun and fast. Â He took pictures of our table, joked with the guys, and knew how to handle 15+ orders at once. Â I wrote a separate review on The RAM's feedback website in hopes that it would get back to him. Â He made my night with his upbeat attitude.
The service definitely earned 5 stars. Â However, the food was just average. Â The beer was good, but doesn't stand up to the Chicago microbreweries I've gotten used to. Â The burgers were a decent value, but not particularly memorable. Â Honestly, the food isn't what matters at something like a birthday party- it's the fun and friends.
My boyfriend is still talking about his party 24 hours later. Â He'd never had a surprise party before, and had a blast. Â The RAM was a great place to wind down and celebrate.
Made a 615 reservation on a Saturday (which the restaurant called and confirmed earlier in the day) and we were seated right when we arrived!
We had a nice corner booth. It's my dad's favorite restaurant. He was said they didn't have the big tanks of beer like the Schaumburg location, but he made up for it with his usual order of a reuben and fries, plus beer of course.
I ordered the 8 oz. sirloin with grilled shrimp. I also got house vegetables and added fireside beans (amazing) and tomato basil bisque soup with my meal. I didn't get dessert at the restaurant, but those options like carrot cake and ice cream cupcakes sure looked awesome.
Nice just Ram. Up your hole Ram-rod.
We came here for a large work event EOB. They had a great appetizer selection and decent food all around. As a brewery I would say I was a bit disappointed with their beer.
I had their veggie burger which was decent but I wouldn't go back for it. I can see how this is a hot sport for the area because everything close by is a chain restaurant... at the same time I think they could make some improvements.
Ram's is a chain with it's own microbrewery. Yummy brews and salads. I know, they don't mix but who cares. The burgers aren't bad too. This Rosemont place invites a lotta office workers from the area. Translation - if you come during the week day, keep in mind the the typical lunch crowd. We got there right before noon. As soon as it was about 12:15 or so, there was a long line. There aren't many good places to eat in this area so it gets crowded. The menu offers a good mixed bag for all kinds of tastes.
My chicken almond salad reminded me of a twist on the infamous chinese chicken salad but much healthier. The pomegranate ginger dressing might scare some, almost did me. But, boy was I super happy with the lightness and flavor. Yum. Chicken was perfectly cooked and tasty - not rubbery or too dry. Just right.
My friend had the thai chicken salad. Too much dressing but otherwise, good.
Portion sizes at the Ram are big. But, service was incredibly slow. That's why I had to knock off a star. Though we had ordered before the big lunch crowd hit, it was as if they went out to the garden in like a wisconsin farm to get the veggies for our salads.
Otherwise, not a bad place for reasonable grub. The bar area in the Rams I've been to are pretty large too if you're going to watch the game and have a few.
Where do I start - I like the environment of this place. Great outdoor area, bar seating, and open restaurant. I just happened to visit this place because I was training in Rosemont and we were looking for a place to have a team dinner. I must admit, this place is sinful!
We started with the Armadillo Eggs - think chicken jalapeno poppers and the Wisconsin Bites. The Armadillo Eggs were heavenly! Fried to perfection, moist and tasty. A wonderful way to start off the meal. The bites.. eh I can pass next time.
Their menu is extensive - it really has something for everyone and mostly reasonably priced. The 5 of us spent $80 with tip and wobbled out.
Let's talk about the best turkey burger I have EVER had! I had one of their infamous Hand-Forged Burgers, Bourbon Black Jack to be exact. The meat is rolled in cracked black pepper, pepperjack cheese, bourbon mustard, lettuce, tomato and onion I substituted the beef patty for turkey and swapped the bread for a pretzel roll. I mean heavenly. Cooked to perfection (no rubber tasting overcooked turkey here) and the waffle fries (although I had to send the first batch back) were great. To top it off - they had the crisp pickle slices. Love it. I'll be back even if I am not working out here.
I teetered between 4 stars and 5 stars for this delicious goodness. The push was that my turkey burger tasted as fantastic for lunch the next day. That's when you know something is fabulous!
I popped into RAM in Rosemont with two co-workers after a productive meeting in the area last week. The trick is to come by just before noon for lunch, because it gets pretty busy here once noontime comes along.
We started with an appetizer plate of hummus with veggies, pitas and tortilla chips, the dip was surprisingly good coming from a big pub. The menu is littered with attractive burger and sandwich selections. I ate the goofy-sounding Buttface burger with a side of coleslaw. The burger was topped with an onion ring and a think beer-laced cheese sauce (the beer is called Buttface Amber Ale!), all on a nice pretzel roll, yummy and hearty. Other choices at our table were a "big dipper" sandwich, and a huge spinach salad dish. We had no drinks, unless you count the "beer" in my burger.
Stopped here for a pre-flight lunch on the way to ORD. Â Two of us had salads (Thai Chicken and Zesty Buffalo Chicken), the third a burger. Â The Buffalo Chicken salad was the least favorite - a little boring - but even that was still relatively good. Â The Thai salad and burger were both fabulous. Â And everyone had more than enough food on their plates.
I forced our table to order the fried pickle chips since I'd never tried them. Â Since having them here, I've actually found a handful of places that serve something similar, so maybe this is the new food trend? Â Regardless, the pickle chips here were ok - the batter was sort of lacking, the pickles were from a jar, but if you've never tried anything like these before, I definitely say go for it to say you've done it! Â
We were in & out pretty quickly because we got here right when they opened at 11am, and it stayed pretty empty the whole time, so no problem making my flight in plenty of time.
Three stars seems optimistic, two stars seems a bit low but appropriate. Â Michele S. summed it up perfectly with her "meh" rating.
Ventured in with two coworkers on a Monday night. Â The parking lot was absolutely packed; we found space in the ramp just behind The Ram. Â We expected the place to be overfilled, but it was quite empty inside - not sure why there were so many cars in front...
We were quickly seated and promptly greeted by a waiter who took our drink orders. Â We inquired about the "Curling supporter" but never got a straight answer; after three attempts to ask three different staff members, we figured out the Curling whatever was a sample platter of six beers and excluded the specialty brews. Â
Drinks were served, and the brews were decent, if not a bit "syrupy" on the finish. Â Definitely a thick mouthfeel (we had the 71, the Buttface Amber, and the Chicago Blonde. Â We would've tried more, but server wasn't around much).
Began with the underwhelming Armadillo Eggs. Â Underwhelming because there are five to a plate, and while they look great, they're mostly air... they literally deflated with the first bite.
A burger, the Cubano, and a buffalo chicken salad were ordered. Â The plates arrived after about 15-20 minutes. Â The burger and sandwich featured oversized buns and undersized ingredients. Â The side of fries were underwhelming as well - we counted a total of 13 fries.
The buffalo chicken salad featured a small (3oz?) portion of bland chicken that had been drowned in buffalo sauce. Â
Check arrived - $80 for three people with a total of 5 drinks...
RAM = FAIL
Food = 2.5 stars
Service = 2.25 stars
Value = 2 stars
MISC = 3 stars (ok beer; ok atmosphere)
We'll look elsewhere...
Total meh experience. Â I really like the Ram...the one in Schaumburg that is. Â This location kinda blows.
The place was packed on a Saturday night and the only parking to be had was in the parking garage off to the side. Â Once inside and seated, it seemed like there was one waiter dude for our entire section. He was running around like a chicken with his head cut off, but there were 2 nicely dressed women seating people and a manger in the front. Â Can somebody help the overworked waiter guy? Â Please? Â I seriously hope he didn't have to share his tips.
We got potato skins for an appetizer. Â They were very average, and served their purpose. Â For our entrees, I ordered the grilled ram sirloin and my husband got the chicken amber ale sandwich. Â The old man was totally satisfied with his sandwich, but my steak was a overcooked. Â I looked up to see my husband already halfway through his sandwich (I seriously don't think he chews) and decided I wasn't willing to send the steak back and wait.
The beer is always fresh, cold and delicious at Ram. Â I had Pale Ale this time and enjoyed every sip.
I will go back to Ram, just probably not this location.
Despite the strip-malley area and entrance, once inside a super friendly staff and competent craft drafts made for a fun sports-watching afternoon. Â Plenty of room to chill and watch all the NFL games. Â A lack of sports memorabilia could be a plus for some could be a minus for others.
Had the wings and the turkey burger, both of which were great.
The server even though he made a mistake was great, sincere, and helped us call a cab which arrived in just 5 minutes or so. Â While not worth a trip from the city, a reliable stop in Rosemont for someone staying in the area near the airport.
finally came back on dec 10th to do the behemoth burger challenge since i failed the first time i went. Came here with 2 of my guys and we all had the challenge. All i know is failing was not an option for me that day because i want that prize shirt really bad and i dont want to have a attempt #3 hahaha.. this time i ate a little slower and ate the buns first because that was what i was struggling with near the end on attempt #1 lol...an hr and 3 mins later..... i had finally finshed it! completed my mission of the day! got my "i conquered the behemoth" t-shirt that i wanted really bad! and they took a picture of me holding the shirt to post on their behemoth facebook page hahaha .. i was #107 to finsh the challenge through out all the ram's restauants.. proud moment right there! and the manager was nice enough to take my tab out since i finshed it!
so after i got my shirt and picture taken, i went back to my table and ofcourse i am going to be rubbing it in to my 2 friends hahaha... one of them was finshed with the burger but still had tons of fries left, he hit the wall and try to rest for a while before continuing since there was no time limit... he was on the border of puking from over stuffing himself lol... after an hr something pass by, he got back to it and ate a few more fries .. THEN he vomitted all over his plate! hahaha it was then game over for him... my other friend was really really close on finshing everything.. i would say he was 96% done! but he couldnt do it... he then threw the white flag after 3 hrs... Â now the next time i go there.. i dont need to do the behemoth challenge anymore! i can finally try other stuff on their menu! hahaha
My husband and I came in last
Sat for lunch. We had a coupon for a free burger with the purchase of another entree. Our server Maddie was great. Â We had a few questions about the nachos we ordered and she could answer everything without hesitation.
I've been a server, a bartender, and a bar an restaurant manager for 8 years. I love when smiley servers can come take an order, answer any questions we have, and suggest beer. Â We (meaning my husband) always has weird orders and asks for bowls of ranch. Â Maddie didn't look at him like he was insane like most do. Â She just cracked a joke right back at him and brought us everything we'd aske for. Â Unfortunately by the time the burgers came out we were way full from the nachos. But the burgers were just just as amazing reheated later for dinner. Â I absolutely love the Ram and am
So excited to see they've opened up one near our house. We will be back. Frequently. Thank you Maddie
I really like this place...
We decided to have our Libra family dinner (my uncle, his wife, my mom and I are all Libras). My aunt and little cousin tagged along.. but hey the more the merrier. We'll take a nice Gemini & Aries along on our traditional dinner. I guess... :D
My uncle chose Rm, I'm glad he did. He made reservations (I dont think it was necessary, but he hates waiting). He didn't have to wait, thank god for that!
Appetizers: Mozzarella sticks and hummus and veggies. All very satisfying. The hummus platter had chips, lots of veggies and a flat bread... Â mozzarella sticks were nice and full of cheese. No skinny unfull moz sticks here...
Soup: Cheese & Beer Bowl. Yes, I know, it sounds nuts but it was soooo tasty. Anyone who goes here I highly recommend getting it. I'm not a fan of beer, so if your like me don't let that stop you.
Entree: Brewers Steak, medium rare. It came out MEDIUM RARE, I like to emphasize that because there is nothing like getting your steak and it's over cooked. The flavour was great and the onion crisps complimented it very well.
Dessert: Cupcake Ice Cream (on the house, which was nice of them). That damn cupcake ice cream was the seal of this deal. The crust on it was just soooooooooooo good. It seemed to be a fusion of oreo crust and something else... I can't put my finger on it. And yes, they served it with a lighted candle :)
Our waiter was very attentive yet not over bearing. He made our dinner a very pleasant one. Every one seemed to enjoy their food, so I'd say Ram is a +. Big beer selection for you beer drinkers, and a nice selection for the Non beer people like me :)
Ram is one of the local restaurants in my regular rotation. They have a good veggie burger, a nice beer selection, pretty good sweet potato fries, a hummus platter that's great except for the fact that they serve it with raw green onions as one of the veggies (a recent-ish change), and a staff that's usually friendly and accommodating to changes and substitutions.
The biggest problems I've run into here are long lines (especially when there's a big sporting event), a very loud bar that can bring on a nasty headache, and a confusing way of listing specials and new items. Sometimes there is a menu insert, sometimes there's a special card on the table, sometimes things are written on the blackboard by the host stand, and sometimes they're with the drinks menu. Sometimes it is any combination of these. Some organizational or a clear way of doing things would help. Also, the lot is almost always full, but you can park in the garage for free.
I like Ram and will keep coming back, but I also see myself once again coming back and then going somewhere else because of the long wait. I like to support my local businesses and would love to support this one a little more often.
A nice plus: you can get their craft brews to take home in "growlers," which are reusable. This is a nice option for a party or the earth-conscious beer lover.
Another afterwork visit to RAM, and still a hit in Rosemont! Service was excellent. My flatbread pepperoni pizza with basil and banana peppers was incredible. Paired with the happily hoppy 71 Pale Ale, RAM will be seeing me often!
And since they came by the table to check on how things were and left a 2-for-1 lunch coupon, they should be seeing me very soon.
Who knew that Ram was going to be getting two visits from me in just about a month's time? Â Certainly not me as RAM is a little off my beaten track.
But when time is of the essence in eating before a flight at O'Hare and you don't want to spend an arm and a leg- RAM pulls it all together.
While my last visit was for lunch- this one was for dinner. Â We had just about an hour and sat in the bar area in one of the circular booths. Â Once again- we told the server our timing dilemma and he assured us that it would be no problem.
And it wasn't. Â My salmon and rice came up quickly as did my friend's chili and sandwich combo. Â The food was good (I will have to say that the patty melt that I had the last time certainly trumped the salmon that I had this time) but all in all a good meal for a reasonable price (there is little on the menu that costs more than $13)
We were in, fed and out within 45 minutes and with a bill of just about $35 for beers and dinner. Â I just wish our server this time had had the personality of the last one we had. Â It made all the difference between 3 and 4 stars!
Meh indeed.
Perhaps the worst pulled pork sandwich ever. The buttered, toasted bun was the best part of the whole thing... what does that say? The beer cheese soup was bland, the pulled pork itself wasn't tart, salty or off set by the included slaw. My sister's flatbread pizza was huge but had only one sad roma tomato slice per piece and almost no cheese or basil. The half sandwiches and salads were decent sizes but the potato bacon soup didn't get any raves from our company of young diners (who I might add, went in so ready for a bacony soup I think my eyes actually teared up with pride).
Good for large groups, the Ram beer is pretty tasty and there's a decent amount of parking but none of those things are reasons for me to return.
After a twelve-hour flight, I landed at O'Hare for a four-hour layover. Relaxation was on my mind, and luckily, Chicago-area friends were available to take me to the Ram!
The Ram is a chain of restaurants and breweries with locations spanning from Washington state, Oregon, and Idaho, to Indiana and, of course, Illinois. Their Rosemont location features a comfortable, open dining area hugged by a long bar. It's conveniently close to the airport.
I was a bit hungry, so I ordered their cheeseburger sliders ($8.69), which were simple patties, decorated with ketchup, mustard, Cheddar cheese, and lovely, oh-so-vibrant pickle chips. They weren't bad, and the pickles were a welcome surprise - still, you go to the Ram for drinks, not food.
I showed our server (Mike) several drink recipes - I wanted a new shot, and to have my friends try my favorites shots. Props to Mike for being receptive and taking the time to figure out if they had the right ingredients!
Many thanks to the Ram's bartender (didn't get his name) for making the shots (including a Screaming Nazi, an Alien Secretion, a Liquid Cocaine, and a few Chocolate Covered Bananas) AND for the wonderful company to share the experience with - along with some potato fries. Needless to say, I had the best return flight ever.
Apparently Ram is the best Rosemont has to offer in the way of a casual dinner out... it must be since it was the only suggestion friends of mine could muster for a pre-Allstate Arena show dinner. Gotta love the burbs.
The service was mediocre at best - overly rushed at times and then a disappearing houdini act when it was time for the bill. Slow and steady does not win the race. A leisurely but attentive pace and steady does. Somehow not as catchy, eh?
My house-brewed IPA was positively delicious - I had two big 'uns - alongside one of their 'special' burgers. If by 'special' they meant headed for the short bus then they got it right on the money. It was lacking in any real flavor despite being piled with lots of different crap... none of the ingredients that sounded so fab on the menu came through with any real discernible flavor. The roasted garlic mayo? Tasted like Miracle Drip. Sauteed Mushrooms? Not with this skimpy portion. What a disappointment and to think I wasted all those calories... screw you spandex pants! My bud's patty melt was actually cheesiness done up right and the seasoned fries were fiery good.
The best part about chillin' at the Ram has to be the ability to watch suburbanites in their natural habitat. The spotted, spray tan, style-less clubrattus domesticus was my favorite - fascinating! So many bad hair-dos, mom jeans, fanny packs, spiky hair... Â oh my!
+1 star for the entertainment!
Ram Restaurant and Brewhouse is really more like a sports bar than a fancy restaurant despite its outward appearance. The seating style, the dim lighting, and the multitude of large screen TV's are all the elements of a sports bar. Instead of comparing it to the fancy places we've gone for our previous NW Burbs dinners, it would be fairer to compare it to other sports bars. Seems every time I've passed it, the place is pretty crowded and the surrounding parking lot near it is full, so you have to park in the free multi-level garage behind it.
We had a reserved nook in the back consisting of small tables with stools and booth-style seating along the wall. The noise level of the dining area is probably the only complaint I have about this place. We had the NBA Eastern Conference playoffs on the left and the Cubs/Astros on the right.
Our waiter was quick with service, at least for me I thought. For the others reviewing, I see the service wasn't consistent at their tables. To start out, I asked for a non-carbonated, non-alcoholic drink. It did not appear on the menu, but he recommended a tall and delicious strawberry lemonade. Tara asked if it had free refills. I pointed out that with a drink this big, I won't need any. Though their menu has lots of beers with clever names like "Total Disorder Porter" I really am not a beer man, so I have nothing to comment about there.
For my dinner, I ordered a Black Angus bacon cheeseburger with steak fries. What I received was a well-loaded burger with very flavorful beef and a dimpled bun. A semi-circular array of pickle slices adorned the plate too. This is the kind of burger some people would eat with a knife and fork. Being in a sports bar atmosphere, I don't mess around with utensils. I've developed the unique ability to unhinge my jaw and swallow the burger whole, much like Wimpy from Popeye.
The fries were coated with seasoning salt and were neither too crisp nor soggy - just perfect in my opinion. Kathy R ordered Ram chips with her dinner. They looked mighty tasty too, but I resisted the urge to swipe them off her plate while she was looking the other way and talking to Princess Nina.
In the end, I was too full for the thought of dessert. We were able to hang out and talk even after the plates were taken away. Nobody was chasing us out in a hurry either. Good place to kick back and enjoy the game while enjoying above average food selection for a sports bar.
When RAM became the site of a recent Yelpers suburban dinner, I was under the impression it was famed for steaks and burgers: both of which I love. Â I apparently didn't read the full name of the restaurant. Â It is Brewery, when I was envisioning "traditional steakhouse" (linen tablecloths, dark wood paneling, overstuffed booths, muted noise...)
We did have linen napkins, but otherwise the atmosphere was all sports bar/pub, with big-screen TVs broadcasting sports, loud patrons, stools (with no backs!) and high tables. I can't fault RAM for my misguided expectations - it is what it is. If you want a romantic quiet dinner, this isn't it. You want to watch a game or eat somewhere where your noisy kids won't stick out, this is a good choice.
My Stadium burger was cooked medium, as I requested, and tasty enough. My RAM chips had no seasoning; however my dining companion had lots of seasoning on hers. Â Why the discrepancy? Â I can't speak to the steaks, which are too $$ for me currently. (I was hoping someone would order one so I could poach a piece). Â They may well be excellent but, for me, the sports bar atmosphere would have detracted from the experience.
Our waiter seemed frazzled. Drink refills came, but slowly.  I'd have asked for another lemon for my iced tea, but I suspect it wouldn't have arrived in a timely manner. All in all, it was enjoyable but it's not on the  top of my list to try again.
I'd come back for more beer tasting, not so much for the food.
Swinging in after a helluva day, I really needed a beer and get stuff off of my mind. I get to the bar and order the Red and was promptly served within two minutes and asked for two bucks and twenty cents. Awestruck I gave her a five and told her to keep the change. 2.20 for a moderately heavy red? Nice.
I had a small appetizer in the tune of Chicken Zingers that were more smell then anything else. The celery was the best thing on the plate which kinda sucks. I had also told the server to put me in a separate tab.
We move on to the booths and order. The Thai Chicken salad was served to me cold with way too much cilantro. Well, it made decent leftovers the next day. Ordered another beer and cosied up next to my favorite monster that likes cookies. Had a few laughs and more fun.
At the end, my bill was consumed by everyone else. The 15% gratuity was well enough.
"Chain restaurants in the suburbs typically don't rank very high on my list. Â However the Ram has got a couple things going for it that really stands out in my book:
1) The BEST calamari I've ever had. Â The calamari itself comes in little strips (sort of like the chicken fries they serve at BK) and they serve it with a sweet Thai chili sauce instead of cocktail sauce. Â Absolutely delicious.
2) The Taster Curl, which contains six 3 oz samples of the different beers that the Ram brews.  It only costs $1.99 -- what a deal!  I'm guessing they'd probably frown upon you ordering more than one but you can always try  to convince them that you're just having a really really hard time deciding which one is your favorite (BTW - my personal favorite is the Big Horn Hefeweizen -- it tastes like bananas!).
If you're like me and you're a fan of tasty calamari and cheap beer, then definitely give the Ram a try."
