Red Dog Right has a pretty decent happy hour with half priced flat breads Monday through Thursday, $5 appetizers (most of their apps are between $4 and $8), and dollar or two off drinks. Â Get the frozen jack and coke... tastes like an adult slurpee. Â Yum! Â The flat breads are good with rankings from favorite to least favorite: Mediterranean (savory, tangy, healthier than the rest), Sausage and Pepperoni (crumbling sausages and greasy pepperonis), and Pulled Chicken (chicken was dry and too many onions). Â Go Tuesdays so you can get wings for $.50. Â They're bigger than your usual hot wings but the sauces weren't impressive. Â The mini brats were delcious with a heaping of sauerkraut. Â
The service has always been awesome. Â They're friendly, jocular, and chill. Â It's a relaxing place to wind down and catch some sports on tv after work.
I love this place. Â I only frequent it Mon - Thurs for happy hour 4-7 and typically only on tuesday 50 cent wings. Â Its a family friendly bar / restaurant that has good food, a great beer selection and better prices. Â My family and I come to this place usually 1 time a week sometimes twice. I'm that mom that doesnt cook a ton during the week.
Review Source:My partner and I are avid fans of RDR. Â We frequent about once a week and this is our fave HH place near where we live. Â
Gonna keep this review short:
*HH is AWESOME. Â Try the Mediterranean pizza, large and 1/2 price. Â Great for 2 people.
*food is delicious, hot and fresh
*always busy(which to me is a good thing)
*and plenty of tap beer selection
Cons
* not a fan of the tables and games near the bathroom. Â I trip on 6 year olds every time I go to wash my hands. Â While its a great idea for a family place, kind of hard to enjoy date night with baseball teams running around everywhere :(
But then again- not their fault.
We love RDR.
Pretty good spot for catching football games; they have the NFL Ticket, and sooo many screens all over the place. There is a screen at each booth, and you can even control the volume which is always a plus.
The younger employees working the hostess stand were a little unprofessional and ignorant of the business. When I walked in, they couldn't tell me anything about the NFL games or even anything about the TVs. Then, during service, I watched as one server wearing short shorts (barely covering her cheeks) walk up to a host and start booty dancing. Weird.
The food was pretty good. We ordered the appetizer sampler and liked everything on it. The pizza rolls were amazing, and I really liked the queso dip.
The bathroom was clean, and there are a few arcade games along one of the walls for children (family friendly joint, except for the booty dancing girl). There is also a patio.
I would recommend this place for football fans.
I have been to Red Dog Right several times now, and they are extremely consistent in great attentive service, good ice cold beer, cleanliness, and decent bar style food. I live in Grapevine, and if you are from around here you will notice one thing: all of the drinking involves a high quantity of cougar filled places good for only wine, martinis, and other voodoo juice that you hold in a glass with your pinky sticking out. Or they just don't have anything outside of river water beer (Coors, Bud Light, etc). It's hard to find a casual fun sports bar that serves more than just your normal Miller. Whoever trains their staff is awesome because everyone is really attentive and friendly.
Review Source:I am usually a fan of the hole in the wall bars and grills. Â But this higher end place is an exception. Â Its prices are reasonable, beer is cold. Â When they say the drafts are 29 degrees, they are not lying. Â I brought my own thermometer. Â Pretty good draft selection of 22 beers. Â The burgers are surprisingly good.. Â Top 10 in the DFW area for me, and I have been to a lot of burger joints. Â The buns are buttered, the meat is fresh, and it is seasoned well. Â The bar manager was also very accommodating in making sure the channel on a couple of screens was changed to something we wanted to watch. Â There were no weaknesses when we went there, but keep in mind we went at 12 noon, so I am unable to confirm or deny the possibility that service may get inordinately slow at peak times, as some of the reviews suggest. Â I intend to go back here.
Review Source:Super cool place for sports fans to hang out and eat. The inside looks like a bar/lounge, but it's uber family-friendly. There's about 20174782 plasmas, so you won't miss a game. The prices are average for a Southlake burger joint; in other words, if you're a broke college kid or on a tight budget, go elsewhere.
The wait was kind of long when I visited, but our server was a happy little lark, and they give you popcorn in lieu of salsa, chips, etc., so I have no complaints.
Evidently their burgers are phenomenal, but I got the buffalo wing vinaigrette salad, and it changed my life. Not really, but it's hella good!
We have been to Red Dog Right several times and we have always been satisfied. For happy hour the drinks are cold and quick. I personally love the Mommas Skinny Cosmo and they have tons of beer on tap. They have $5 appetizers. The pizza rolls are handmade and they are great. The happy hour crowd appears to be working adults from high 20's and up. We have taken the kids there twice during the evening. There is a decent amount of kids during that time which worked for us. Trying to keep our two year sitting down is not easy but there is so much going on she enjoys people watches. This is not a place for a romantic quite dinner but if you have kids and are meeting friends this is a decent place to make everyone happy. They have a volleyball court as well which seems to entertain the preteens.
Review Source:Red Dog is alRight!
I stopped by for an early dinner on Tues PM. As others have noted RDR is kid friendly so sit at or near the bar to reduce the kid and games noise. Lots of TVs I got to watch my Red Sox get abused by the As and Bro' in law was able to see his Rangers. We arrived during happy hour so the  1/2 priced Apps and reduced beer prices were in play. Liked their beer selection as well Firemans 4 on draft!!
We started off with the queso and chips which were OK. My chicken sandwich w/avocado was really good and not over grilled and dry which is a common occurrence. Â Bro had a burger that was supposed to be Med cooked and as usual it was Med/well. This over cooked burger thing has got to stop!! Off my soapbox... Service was very good, friendly, and prompt. The only real PITA is getting there due to the construction.
Tori rocks as server. Fast, friendly answered all our questions. Made a great recommendation refilled my drinks instantly.
Update:
This place really has customer service down to a science, the server Tori really was amazing, she suggested items for me after a long day hiking at Lake Grapevine. My wife had a salad which was not to her liking, the manager was there in about 10 seconds and brought her a replacement salad in about 3 minutes. Michael really knows how to make a patron want to come back. He handled everything like we were the most important guests he has ever had. I will certainly be back.
I had a burger which was the only thing that I felt like, it was large enough to not eat it all and the fries were pretty good.
Red Dog is great for families based upon all the kids having fun at the arcade area while the parents watched a game on TV. Good atmosphere, great customer service and pretty good food for a sports bar/arcade.
I would recommend this restaurant to anyone.
This is a great community sports bar in the burbs. Â Southlake is riddled with boring family friendly chain restaurants. Â RDR is a nice place to watch a game and grab a beer but is also family friendly. Â Plenty of video games and flat screens. Â
The mini brats are amazing. Â The flat iron steak is excellent. Â The service is outstanding. Â My only gripe is the menu is a bit limited. Â Needs more choices like salads and lighter fare. Â (man cannot survive on burgers and wings alone).
Red Dog Right has an extremely well trained staff - they are always attentive, accurate and just plain nice. Management must have taken a page from the Disney handbook for their training and hiring practices.
The food is just as special. They have the best wings in DFW - true Buffalo wings with a sauce that satisfies this native Buffaloian. They have many other unique wing sauces and unusually large wings  Their pretzel bread is fresh and tasty as well. Great place for brunch on Sundays - many unique items like the Captain Crunch French Toast.
Tuesday is fifty cent wing night! Â Don't forget to join their free rewards program where you get 10% back.
We came here for a night cap to end the evening. Â The place was still busy at 11PM which was a good sign. Â The service was great and the seating even better. Â They have several large comfy chairs and couches for you to sit at and enjoy the multitude of games on all the TVs. Â There are several bar tables and booths as well. Â Our waitress stopped by about every ten minutes or so to check on us, just enough not to be a nuisance. Â There are dozens of TVs and plenty of arcade games for the kids. Â It's a good blend of family atmosphere and sports bar. Â The bar itself can open up to the patio so when nice weather is around you can enjoy it. Â The patio looked nice with comfy chairs and tables as well. Â We had fun and enjoyed the atmosphere, I'll definitely be back again sometime.
Review Source:Watched the Eagles on one of the many televisions. A great place to take in a game. Nice atmosphere with a large selection of draft and bottled beer.
Several varieties of wings. I had the horseradish and buffalo. Both very good and not too greasy.
Reasonably priced and a nice addition to the Southlake dining scene.
Ok, for those of you who don't know The History, this place was built as a Red Lobster - it did well for a while, but then succumbed to the 2008/2009 economy and the fact that there were much better seafood restaurants in Southlake :)
Flash forward to 2010 and a prominent restaurant group wanted to make this another Brestaurant - I say "another" because it's not like Grapevine doesn't already have four other brestaurants of varying flavors. Â The families of Southlake (mostly the wives who were afraid for their husbands) protested and the owner relented, even though he didn't have to. Â The place is zoned for a restaurant and only had to be brought up to current building code standards, there is no law to force the servers to wear khakis and black polo shirts.
Red Dog Right, named for a football play, is the result - a FAMILY Sport Bar. Â Yes, as many of the other reviewers have noted, there are typically a bunch of kids running around the place. Â This is Southlake., which has an average 2.7 kids for every household. Â After a hard day working downtown or taking the kids to a zillion activities, Mom and Dad need a place to go drink while the little hooligans get hopped up on soda and spend $.50 per play on video games.
The food is actually really good. Â Management are all veterans of the restaurant industry and know how to please patrons. Â In the crowded Southlake/Grapevine market, this means uniqueness. Â I truly don't know of any places that serve Pot Roast, Mini-Brats, Coca-Cola BBQ wings, or Turkey Burgers as good as this place does. Â All of it is made in-house (I asked).
There is a full bar, with a decent cold-draft beer selection. Â They have drink specials around most sporting events. Â Oh yeah, did I mention that they have more TVs per patron than any other place in the area. Â There are even TVs in the men's restroom - along with barbershop stuff like mouthwash, combs and after shave! LOL
Overall, I like this place because it is casual. Â The servers are friendly. Â The prices are reasonable. Â And IF I have my kid with me, she is well-entertained by other kids and many games.
Unacceptable. But why?
The food is pretty nice.
The beer selection is pretty nice.
There are lots of TVS showing a variety of sports
The wait staff are terrific.
And it gets one star from me?
That's because someone out of their cotton pickin' mind decided it would be a good idea to have an army of prepubescent kids (shirts that had the emblem "Dragons") on them take over half the place. Â I am sure the revenue was great. The kids obviously had a good time - to the detriment of the rest of us.
Imagine the deafening noise of a bunch of high pitched kid voices practising their "cheers" in a one room bar. It's not that the kids were in any way badly behaved. They were high spirited, obviously having some kind of party.
Complaints to our waiter brought little joy. We were told, "They have rented the place". Folks this is a sports bar.
Overall, a decent sports bar. Â Reviewers saying it is 'awesome' or giving it 5 stars have either never been to other sports bars or they have an ownership stake in Red Dog Right. Â Granted, RDR does have some nice touches, like lamps and outlets at the booths for hardcore fantasy sports types, and games for kids. Â Actually, the place is a little too 'kid-friendly' for me, but maybe bringing children to bars is your thing. Â
I'm going to have to disagree with Eric W.'s charactarization of their outdoor patio as 'great'. Â I found it a bit strange they even had outdoor seating, as it places you about 50 feet from the frontage road to a major highway - what a view! Â
The food is hit or miss. Â The burgers and wings are good, but very few choices are offered. Â The quailty of their pizza falls somewhere in between Kroger-brand frozen pizzas and Purina Beggin' Strips. Â
Beer selection is slightly above average.
Service is generally quite good.
They really need to be able to switch video AND audio to the main TV when requested.
I came here to eat some dinner and watch the Rangers with my boyfriend. The place was extremely busy, but they took our name and we sat at the bar and had some delicious drinks. When our table was ready, they sent us a text, pretty nice. We both ordered burgers and fries. The pizza, wings, and some other sandwiches sounded good but we were both craving burgers. Everything was very fresh and delicious. The burger was juicy and cooked perfectly, and the fries were really good. And I am picky about fries. Plus the service was very friendly, even though it was very busy. It did get extremely loud, mostly because there were so many children there...only drawback in my book. Â I think we will be coming back here alot.
Review Source:I don't normally like lemon pepper chicken wings, but these were without a doubt the best I ever had. I doubt I will ever bother with RDR's saucy wings again... I mean they are good, but these dry lemon pepper wings were great.
Tie that in with perfect outdoor weather, a great outdoor seating area, plenty of cold beer, free popcorn and a great server and this visit to RDR did not disappoint.
I've gotta tell ya, my husband & I have been 2 a lot of sports bars around the metroplex but this has 2 b one of the best! Â The food was super tasty (we started with the pizza rolls & ended with the meatball sub). Â I adore the pizza rolls & atmosphere. Â Our server was excellent and we will definitely b back for Monday night football!
Review Source:Came here for a friend's going away party, and was really impressed. The restaurant was very clean and had nice couches to relax on to watch the game. The bar staff was very friendly and outgoing, and was easy to get along with. The selection of draft beers was great, and the happy hour special made the price even better. We had several of the half priced appetizers (pizza rolls, chicken blitz's, chips and queso) which all turned out to be really good. I also had a turkey burger and fries, and they were both good as well.
I also liked the indoor/outdoor bar patio they had, which was perfect for this nice autumn weather.
The atmosphere was really nice overall, the restaurant was very clean, with plenty of TVs to watch the playoffs. Great Service and great food makes this a great place to eat, drink, and hang out.
Tried RDR last Sunday for a pre movie brunch and for starters let me just say that it was waaaayyyy better than the movie. I would never have imagined that golf and Robert Duvall could pair up with the botched result that became Seven Days in Utopia, but I'm getting off track. First of all, I like the layout of this place, even if it is a sports bar. I could care less about sports, but the design was very cozy. Even the booths had their own little TV's for sports fans who want it up close and intimate. There is a center seating area with groups of sofas in addition to the tables and booths. Overall, the atmosphere was nice.
I had the brunch special breakfast sandwich for $6 and my boyfriend had the brunch special breakfast burger for $10. Both came with a fried egg (I ordered my egg over hard - no runny egg and it came as ordered), bacon, tomatoes, cheese and mayo on a really good light-tasting bun. His also came with a huge hunk of well-seasoned cooked to order burger. Both came with crisp fries. The sandwiches were a tiny bit greasy, but definitely not by sports bar standards. And such generous portions. We couldn't possibly have finished them. We could have seriously split just one of them and been satisfied. Â I would definitely order the same thing again. Best breakfast sandwich I've had in a while.
The service was fine. We had a young waiter and he seemed to be newly trained. He was perhaps a little over attentive with refills etc, but left us with no silverware after delivering the meal. Another odd thing was that they had no coffee made. For Sunday brunch. Had to wait awhile on that, which was annoying, but then they didn't charge us for it in the end. So that was a nice touch.
Will definitely be back to try the rest of the menu.
I would like to be able to give this place 4.5 stars. The service and food were great. What makes it a 2 star is the fact that they said it was policy to open the windows everyday in the afternoon. It is day 25 of over 100 Â degrees. This came directly from the manager. Â It was too hot to enjoy the food, atmosphere, or company.
Review Source:On Saturday June 4, 2001 we went into Red Dog Right because we hadn't been there before and we were looking for someplace different to have a late lunch. It was around 3 o'clock so there weren't a lot of guests. Eventually more people showed up. There was a large table with lots of little soccer playing kids or something. Apparently kids eat free with an adult meal at that time of day. We were greeted immediately and sat down. The food is basically sports bar type food. Chicken wings, burgers, etc. My boyfriend had a salad and I had the boneless wings in a sweet bar-b-que sauce. They were pretty good and my boyfriend said the fries were great. Aside from the food there are TV's everywhere. It's definately the perfect place to watch sporting events. The food is good too. Just wish they had "Caesar Salads." We'll definitely go back.
Review Source:This place has the potential to be great. Â The are needs a good sports bar where you can go and enjoy a game with friends and good. Â The food is mediocre for the most part -7 layer dip was disappointing and extremely greasy from the ground beef on top. Â The pizza is decent but not the best. The service is very slow and mostly high school kids who seem to get so overwhelmed that it leads to shaky interaction.
I hope this place pulls it together becuase the soft pretzels and the burgers are fantastic. Â Also they have a GREAT selection of beers on tap!
Service - 5 Star
Food - 4 Star
Ice Cold Drafts - 5 Star
I'm not sure what the name means, but someone's doing something RIGHT!
My son and I came here to drown our sorrows after a difficult round of golf played in a mini-hurricane. (you golfers can sympathize, I know). Here's the things we found that they'd done right:
1) 29 F draft beer served in frosty mug. (I didn't have a thermometer, but I'll take their word as to the temperature. There were flecks of ice on the beer and it was cold to the tongue. Damn near got frost on my moustache.
2) Country club atmosphere, from the couches  in the middle, to the lockers on the side, to the men's toiletries in the restroom, to the decor on the walls. Well, you get the drift..
3) TV's everywhere the eye can see. Although I wasn't too fond of the mini commercial players stuck at eye level in the urinals. Is nothing sacred?
4) Outside/inside bar. Two sides of the bar are outdoors and the other two sides are inside. Kind of cool looking, but I don't know how they'll work out in the summer.
5) A games area in one corner, in case you're so inclined.
Now as to the food.
We had the pizza rolls, which were very tasty and nice spin on the traditional. They serve regular pizzas as well. We also had the chicken wings. Besides the buffalo sauce, we also tried the Coca Cola and bacon and the pineapple infused sauces. The last two were sweet and savory and sweet and tangy respectively. So the chicken wings were another thing they got right!
So did anything go wrong? Yes, the shoe string fries were not to our liking. They were so thin, all I could taste was the salt and the oil. No real potato  flavor left in such a small stick. We left ours mostly uneaten. Which goes to show, you can't get everything right for all the  people all the time, or so says Abraham Lincoln.
Even the misstep in the matter of fries could not offset the overall experience, so we gave them their full Five Stars, because, honestly, as far as sports bars go, this was about as good as it gets!
Great food, great atmosphere, dozens of TVs, and good service. Loved the mini-brats, wings and pizza. Â But what kind of sports bar puts 90 percent of their TV's on ultimate fighting the first weekend of March Madness? Â We got stuck with one TV in the corner to watch our game and half our table had to crane their necks around. Definitely a downer for what otherwise would be a five star sports bar.
Review Source:They've only been open a couple weeks and we've been there twice already!
You'll find a comfortable atmosphere with very good food made by folks who care about quality and customer satisfaction. I can see RDR being a staple for ours and many other Southlake families for years to come.
I highly recommend the hamburger. It's actually made from ground brisket they said. Interesting approach, and very tasty. The mini brats and pizza roll ups are excellent appetizers. Everything is made from scratch as far as I can tell.
There might be a few service hiccups here at the beginning, but I'm sure they'll get those ironed out pretty soon. It's plain to see that the owners are serious about being part of the community and making an enjoyable dining experience.
