Lobsterfest comes every year around my birthday, and I eagerly wait for the announcement. I am a shellfish lover so this is the place to go locally. Portions are generous and the cheddar biscuits here are legendary. Last time we enjoyed the lobster lovers dream which included  both a Maine and rock lobster tail. I alternated between the denser rock lobster tail and the smaller, lighter sweeter Maine tail. Both were 7 ounces, as compared to the 14 ounce rock tail with the entree. Also included we're some fresh steamed broccoli and another portion if rich creamy seafood Alfredo. Too much for one sitting. The four course special is a premier value. There are always 3-5 very fresh fish options which can be prepared on the low calorie and tasty wood fire grill. I like the the key lime pie as well. It's not as tart as it could be, but still good!

I came here for dinner with my family and surprisingly we got seated right away, no waiting at all! I ordered the shrimp and scallop pasta and it wasn't fulfilling at all, the shrimp and scallops were way too small.. They look like baby shrimps and baby scallops. My sister ordered the chicken Alfredo and I thought that this was typical and boring, but to my surprised, it was actually good! I think that dish was better than my shrimp and scallop. The chicken was actually moist and tender. Too bad my sissy didn't want to share. I also had a taste of the grilled tilapia from my bf's plate. It was actually good and I was happy that he was willing to trade his dish for mines.....thanks bf! So at the end, before we were going for our desserts, we were already full from our meal. My bf asked the waitress to bring out the dessert in the to-go boxes just in case if we didn't get to finished our dessert, we can save it for later. The waitress looked at my bf in weird way and ignored him. That moment was awkward and weird, also, it wasn't nice for the waitress to ignored my bf's request. But at the end, we got what we wanted, our desserts and our to-go boxes!

The complimentary biscuits set the tone -- comfort food at a great price (okay, not all the food is free, but not far off). Comfy booths, good service, good drinks... If you're in the mood for chain seafood, can't go wrong here.

Went on a Friday afternoon and it was fabulous! The service was great. The waiter was pleasant, helpful, and friendly. The only glitch was accidentally getting a regular soda instead of a diet. The food was the best I've ever had at red lobster. I would definitely go again.

My family and I were looking for somewhere reliable to eat and it was quite the opposite experience. What went wrong might you ask?

    Service was horrible:

    1) To begin, wrong dressing on one of the salads. Big deal? Not really, but it was the first of many mistakes.

    2) Server forgot to bring out the infamous biscuits, we had to ask.

    3) Ordered TWO surf and turfs w/baked potato and one "two choice" order of COCONUT shrimp/steak/rice pilaf. Simple enough, yes?

We were brought: ONE surf and turf and TWO steak /fried shrimp/baked potato. =/

    * When the server corrected the meal, presentation was horrible. It looks like they just grabbed the fried shrimp off the main plate and by then the steak juice was dried on the plate. The rice was in a side dish bowl on top of it. The coconut shrimp was brought out separately BUT the server forgot to bring the pina-colada sauce... Luckily he remembered and came back with it right away.

    4) Asked server for a refill of biscuits. Never brought.

    5) We asked for two mediums and one medium-well steaks. Steak was very tough and probably cooked over well-done.

    6) We were charged for the wrong order on the check.

    7) Til the very end...Reminded server three times to bring us a to-go box.

The only thing saving the rating is that the manager was completely understanding and gave us a discount on our meal.

Will I eat at Red Lobster again? Probably.
    Gurnee location? Probably not.

Yeah, I know it's a chain, but still.  It's still a good atmosphere with good service and pretty lively vibe.  I always enjoy walking by the lobster tank and eying out the sorry lobster I am about to eat.

They serve good drinks for a good price and let's face it, a meal is most enjoyed with a buzz and a relaxed attitude, and with good company, of course.  They have a decent selection of beers and mixed drinks for all tastes so that is good.

They have a wide selection of seafood but my money is on the daily specials, I think they serve those with spectacular taste.  Yesterday I tried the Salmon New Orleans and it was amazing! The salmon was moist and fork-tender and whatever sauce they use was pretty tasty.

But let us not forget why we all go to Red Lobster: the Cheddar Bay Biscuit! 150 calories of perfect, cheesy, warm all-you-can-eat goodness.  This is my starter, appetizer and dessert.  If you have room for dessert at this place, then you have failed.

Service was great! Food was good for the price.  What more can you say about a corporate restaurant.

Went to eat there after my son's Navy bootcamp graduation.  We had three graduates and my wife and myself who ordered a variety of different drinks, dishes and starters.  The staff was friendly and got all the orders out pronto/asap.  They all went out of there way to thank the new Sailors for their service to the country.  Overall a great dinner and dining experience on a very special day, one that none of us will forget.

We stopped here to eat on the way back from Chicago.  We have eaten in lots of Red Lobster's and knew what to expect.

Boy were we disappointed.  I had the broiled trio of scallops, shrimp, and stuffed flounder.  She had the tilapia with crab topping.  Everything was mushy, the vegetables were over-cooked.  Only the Ceasar salad was good.  Service was very good.  They were in the middle of remodeling so the decor was nothing at all.

Every X-mas my partner's parents send us a gift card to eat here. It's a very sweet and generous tradition and we usually have lunch on X-mas eve. This year RL really outdid themselves in the service department.

My coffee cup never went empty: the waitress, manager, even the bartender all went and got me fresh whenever I was low.  They also paid attention to me when I said I wanted a LOT of half and half. (A lot of places give me like one cream even though I warn them I need a cow.)

The biscuits--dude, I really like those biscuits-- kept coming and everyone was playful. (I know my partner already used that word in his review but it's true--they were playful.) We had a really great dining experience because the staff was so damned fun.

I enjoyed the scampi, the fried shrimp were ok, but the white fish was a bit bland.  But--you know, like I said, I was really satisfied and too stuffed for desert. I had a really great time with my best friend and companion. It was about us and the manger saw to that (I really wish I knew her name, she was working at 1130 xmas eve.  She was really cool.). And these days it's not always like that at a restaurant. That's something a lot of the corporate restaurants are figuring out and why they're staying in business while great family owned ones are dying. Sometimes small restaurant owners are so stressed trying to do everything themselves that it often seems like its about them, not the customer.

    Great Service Guys!

"Playful."  There.  I said it.  The place was playful.

Every year my folks send along a gift certificate for Red Lobster for the holidays; it's very sweet of them and we look forward to a garlicky break from all the sweet stuff of the season.

This year, the experience was really smooth and enjoyable.  We had an ensemble matinee performance (lunch on Christmas eve) and every new staff member that showed up with coffee or more creamer or more of those wicked little cheddar biscuits was ready to have fun.  If our waitress missed something, the manager caught it; if we needed more coffee, it didn't matter whose table we were.

The food was... okay.  The lobster and shrimp pasta was nice enough; the linguine wasn't overcooked and the sauce was flavorful.  Two big honest lobster claws worth of meat was involved in my lunch portion of the dish.  My partner's scampi was good, though the broiled white fish was... meh.  It's a chain restaurant. Whaddya want?

It's the staff that really make a place.  They help provide the experience that you hope to get when you "dine out."

Had the chefs selection Peppercorn-Grilled Salmon. "Fresh, peppercorn-rubbed salmon grilled and drizzled with a soy-wasabi sauce. Served over fresh asparagus, tomatoes, onions, and wild rice pilaf."  It was very tasty and relatively light for Red Lobster. The salmon had a rich smoky flavor and was cooked well.  I would certainly recommend this, and other, grilled selections over the fried fare.

aside from the cheddar biscuits, which are full of win, the seafood here is mediocre and pretty much what you might expect from a chain restaurant.

my friends and i were extremely excited for their all-you-can-eat shrimp night, especially because of their way their commercials made their shrimps look so delicious. you'd think i would have learned by now that those commercials are fraudulent, but no, instead we drove all the way to NORRIDGE (even though i live in GURNEE), to wait an hour or possible 2, to eat extremely salty and tiny shrimps.

now all this talk of cheddar biscuits are making me hungry.

I like Red Lobster.  As far as chain restaurants go, it's one of the few that is not horrible.  I particularly love their cheddar biscuits.  I also like coming here for endless shrimp, when you can get some delicious shrimp scampi, some fried shrimp, and some shrimp alfredo pasta.  Also, who doesn't love picking out a live lobster and then having him killed and served to you?

Definitely the best restaurant in Gurnee Mills.

I haven't been to a Red Lobster since I lived in Austin, TX (like 13 years ago).  Yesterday, the hubby, kid & I made the trek up to the location in Gurnee.  We had gift cards to use, so that was our incentive.  I could NOT believe how packed the place was at 3:30pm!  We had to wait about 10 minutes for a table, and then there was some confusion about seating us in non-smoking versus smoking (we requested non-smoking... guess that is no longer an issue!).  Once that was resolved, things were ok.

The food was better than I had remembered years ago although a lot of it is fried.  LOVED the Cheddar Bay Biscuits.  We also had the cheesy lobster dip and it was really good.  The salad that came with my dinner was simple but fresh.  For my main entree I got the chicken strips (pretty tasty and great honey mustard for dipping) and shrimp.  The shrimp was ok... nothing horrible, nothing outstanding.  My husband had the grilled shrimp & scallops and said it was ok - not great quality, but not horrible either.

While the servers tried to seem pleasant, it was obvious they were overwhelmed and generally frustrated with how busy they were.  It was as if they couldn't keep up, but it looked like they had adequate waitstaff.  I did notice at least 4 managers walking around with the earpiece/mic combo things and it seemed as if there was quite a bit of confusion between them.  About what, I have no idea.

Also, while they did have a kid's menu, it only had like 4 items on it.

Overall, I guess you get what you pay for.  Given the choice I'd probably still go to Bob Chinns instead... better quality, better service and much closer to home.

I am a sucker for Red Lobster...probably one of my guilty pleasures...especially the biscuits.  This one is very nice as at lunch you don't often have to wait for a table.  The majority of the waitstaff is very friendly and the service is pretty fast.  The only thing that irriated me about any of my visits was the fact we had to beg and plead to get sound to watch (and actually listen) to the White Sox rally.
