Red Robin is a good place to get a $10 hamburger. Â This location is always busy. Â This is good for business, but bad for service. Â I am usually in the Plainfield area for lunch so I would like to see them implement some type of lunch specials through the week. Â I suppose if business is good they probably never will though.
Review Source:I don't even want to give them one star, but I thought I'd at least say thanks for the free fries.
We went with a party of 6 with a child and wait a full hour before seated. Instead of pushing tables together, they just kept seating people...nearly 60 (no exaggeration).
We waited 15 minutes for a server to even offer us drinks, which were naturally wrong when he returned. He brought an adult cup for a three-year-old child, so we asked for a child's cup with his Sprite in it -- he brought back coke in a kids cup.
When we began ordering, he decided to sit at the end of the table in a chair (maybe he was tired) and he made us yell our our orders to him. I finally got irritated and demanded that he move to the other end of the table.
Thirty minutes later we received our food and two orders were wrong.
We finally received our bills and they charged almost $5 for each side salad which were supposed to be free with your meal. $20 for a burger and small salad? Uh. No.
The manager came out and argued with us that the salads were $3 (why the $5 charge, we never found out). After a short discussion she said "don't cry over spilled milk, I will take it off of your bill."
Three hours later we finally got out of there...after waiting 20 extra minutes to receive the correct bills.
This place is way too loud, disorganized and the staff has no idea what's going on half of the time. We were hesitant to return here because our first experience was just as atrocious. I always give people second chances, but there won't be a third time.
There's not much love for this location among Yelpers, and I'd like to be the first to agree and disagree at the same time.
Overall, I will agree that the service here is average. I am not a big fan of establishments that balk when they're told that seating for a party of 6 or more will be needed, and this Red Robin really needs help with that. With a Chili's and Applebee's nearby--both with fairly good hosts/hostesses--I would do well to make sure I had a welcoming waitstaff so my customers didn't leave for the competition after being given the impression that my establishment was scared of large parties. (Hint, hint, Red Robin.) On the flipside, our waitress was absolutely wonderful and accommodating to our party's needs.
My disagreement with other Yelpers comes on the part of the food. Red Robin has the best garlic fries I've ever put in my mouth. They are a bit on the greasy side, but it should probably be assumed the heart attack is included when ordering fried food at a burger joint. If you're not in the mood for grease and want to eat on the lighter side of the menu, the salad/soup combo is a great choice. Caesar salad and French Onion Soup are always great picks. I prefer Applebee's lunch combo with the same two items (and it comes with the awesome mini garlic breadstick!), but the Red Robin combo is perfectly fine for my tastes.
All-in-all, if you're coming off I-70 at Exit 66 and aren't satisfied with your choices near the interstate, drive down Perry Road and hit up Red Robin. You might be given the wrong impression by a few of the waitstaff if you have a large party, but the service you'll receive after you are seated and the food will be worth it.
