Their bar is average, however, if you turn around the corner on Taylor and visit their Cafe, their HAMBURGERS and CHEESEBURGERS are the BEST I've had.
You know you have a good hamburger or cheeseburger when you reheat the leftovers and the hamburger tastes better than when it was fresh... I mean, their food is great, but their 1/2 pound angus cheeseburger tastes really good when it is reheated in the microwave...
Their jalapeno cheese poppers are really good and  their french fries are excellent!  Yummy! And you can't beat the prices!
Another place that is "just there" in my book. The cliche decor (go there and you'll see what I mean) basically makes this place look like a bar that opened two years ago but tries to portray itself as a dive bar. Except dive bars don't have $3 domestics as the cheapest beer on the menu. Nor do they have PBR signs without selling PBR. Nor do they have brand-new signs hanging up that say "minimum charge card purchase: $10) At least they had $2 burgers, which were pretty good...except they required you to purchase an "alcoholic beverage" and if you don't drink, you're fucked.
There was also NO ONE here on a Tuesday night when they had the burger special AND the hawks game AND the sox game AND the lakers-nuggets game. I guess it was nice because we got seats and everything, but it also kinda weirded me out.
Biggest plus is this place is like 10 minutes away from my house via bus. It's kinda like White Hen - products are not the best and kinda pricey, but you go for convenience.
I like Rick's for a quick beer and good burger. Â It's not my favorite neighborhood Friday night haute, but it's a chill place to meet coworkers for happy hour, catch a Sunday game with friends, and not overpay for a beer and drinks. Â Nice plasma tvs by bar so you can catch any game. Â Small dollar pool table is one of the last of it's kind in the city. Â I disagree with the comment made about too many college kids. Â I don't mind them at all although I haven't seen a lot at Rick's. Â They mostly hang out at Hawkeyes and Drum and Monkey.
