After posting my first review, a representative of the company messaged me in an attempt to reach out and mend the situation. I appreciated the effort. He let me know that the store manager wanted to contact me and try to put a means to an end. I was surprised that they actually extended a hand and wanted to recover a guest. But that's where it ended. I received no email from the store manager. As if I didn't already he didn't care, that definitely sealed the deal.
Review Source:Our first visit was about3 years ago right after moving to the area and I remember it as pleasant so decided to take the kids back a few weeks ago. It was a weeknight and not very busy at all. We were undecided about what to order so the waitress gave us more time. Well after more than 15 minutes of waiting for her to come back we decides to leave. My children were not given the dough to play with and were just getting too restless.
I went to the front to pay for our 1 drink and after the hostess went back to talk with the waitress, saw them giggling, I was offered our drink for free.
We took our business down the street to brewery pizza. So much better service there and the food is good too. I will not be returning to this place, to me customer service is very important and the workers there on that night were horrible!
I went here with my fiance, his brother and his brother's fiance a few weeks ago during the holiday weekend. The place was busy, so we had a seat in the bar. It was about 3pm. Anyways, we ordered drinks and our food, no problem there. I had to use the restroom and found out the hard way that they were out of toilet paper. When I had to yell over the ridiculously loud music to the next stall over when someone else came in, we then discovered that the other stall was empty as well. Unacceptable. Anyways, I went back to my table and eventually our food arrived. My fiance's brother and his fiance had pizzas that they both said were quite tasty. My fiance had a wrap that was less than desirable. My burger I had ordered to be cooked medium came out char black. When it was brought to the waitress's attention, she apologized, took my plate (fries included, so I was left with absolutely nothing), and said that they will get me another burger ASAP. That ASAP turned into 20 minutes. By the time my burger came to the table, everyone else was ready to leave. The waitress then brought out our checks and just like another reviewer had said, my fiance and I were given a 10% discount on our meals. Woo hoo. $3 off our piss poor meal. Definitely not worth it. The only reason I am giving it two stars instead of one is because my fiance's brother claims to have liked his food. Don't waste your time here.
Review Source:I went to The Rock for dinner; this is the second time I've eaten there. Â I ordered the crazy little thing 9 in. pizza, and I think it's actually the best veggie style pizza I've had. Â The crust is great and they didn't skimp on the toppings. Â They also have a variety of appetizers, sandwiches and pasta. Â I love the beer battered fries. Â
I haven't tried their lounge or seen the bathrooms, but every thing else looked clean and well tended. Â I Â did have a table that rocked back and forth a bit, but it wasn't that big of a deal to us at the time. Â I do think that the place is a little understaffed. Â Both times we've gone there we had to wait a little longer for drinks and our food than we would have liked. Â The staff was nice and polite, but seemed like they were rushing around trying to do more than just the few people could handle. Â The whole place has a rock and roll theme but the rock played is family friendly. Â Many people were there with their little ones so if you don't want to be around kids, you might want to try the lounge. Â The food is good and it's right next to the theater which is convenient. Â I would definitely tell my friends to check it out; and I'm sure I'll go back again.
Well what I can say. All show and no go.
So I visited The Rock while working in Olympia, since it was recommenced by the locals and while it's not a overly bad pizza place (I do like the theme!), Â it's not on my list to revisit.
I stopped by on a weekend night around 7:30 and they were very busy. Understandable since it's a bar, next to a movie theater , etc. Â They offered me a 6-person booth, which I declined because I am by myself and I knew they were busy. I had no problems waiting for a small booth to open up. But they insisted. After about 10 minutes, I was ask to move so a larger party could take the booth. Not a big deal really, but put me off a little since I offered this up front.
I ordered their "Founders Pie", since I am really liking Ricotta on my pizza as of late, which unknown to me, also came with a side of huge disappointment.
It took nearly an HOUR to get my pizza. I know the place was busy, I know I am one guy so you are assuming that my tip will be small, but when the party of 6 that took my table, Â effectively ordering a good 15 minutes after I placed my order, gets their food before I do -- your service is horrible. In fact, they got their check before I did too!
Not only this, but once the pizza arrived, the cheese was already starting to congeal. There was no way it was fresh out of the oven and my guess it was sitting for at least 15 minutes before it was brought to my table. I couldn't eat more than 1/2 my pizza because it was just going cold and tasted like garbage.
Last but not least. This place is a bar and a restaurant and you only have single service bathrooms? Â Really?
All show and no go.
We came at 1pm on a Thursday for lunch. We got the pizza Buffett -- BIG mistake. Everything was gross, from the unripe fruit salad to the mystery heat lamp pizzas. Lasagne was mediocre at best. I keep  biting into whole fennel seeds (and that was the only seasoning in the lasagne) and it was literally layers of nothing but crushed tomatoes, noodles and plain ricotta (oh, and a crapload of fennel seeds) Every Round Table buffet I've ever been to has been way better. The only positive was the cool decor and that the coke was fizzy and the iced tea was good.
Review Source:We went here because it's right next to the movie theater which is convenient  and they were open late which is great.  The pizza was bad- paper thin and wet in the middle and sloppy with little flavor, the waitress was nice and could tell there was something wrong with our pizza and offered to send it back to the kitchen but we didn't want to wait or make a fuss over it.  We also had a beer taster- nothing good there- no delicious beer flavors to report.  I like the decor and the late hours but that's about it.
Review Source:I have eaten here two or three times. Only average pizza and wings but other than that this place is nothing special. In fact when I wanted to order one pizza with some substitutions they fussed that this was not usually allowed and then when it came it was not right. The only reason we came back a second time was it was too far to drive from Olympia to our favorite pizza place in Dupont.
Review Source:I usually go on my weekday's off for the lunch buffet followed by a movie. Â Much to my surprise, today there was no buffet, told it's only Wed-Fri now and find out there are new owners? Â When did all this happen? Â I'll still go there, just may need to change my schedule a little. Â Looks like as of now the same servers and kitchen staff.
Review Source:I have actually been to this place on multiple occasions. My husband and I really enjoyed coming here we brought friends many times. In the past I have always been very impressed by the service and quality of the food. This time however, it was a completely different story. The waiter working in the front suggested that we might sit in the bar since it was open seating so we went ahead and took a seat in the bar. What a terrible idea. The girl who is working in the bar didn't seem to care too much about the people who were sitting there. She seemed eager to start transactions but not to actually follow them through. I had to ask her twice to bring me a water. It wasn't until the guy working up front came by to check on us that I actually got my water. At most places they bring you water automatically without having to be asked. When we got our meal we were both very disappointed in the food as well. Honestly I have had better chicken wraps from Safeway. The chicken was dry, barely warm, and had twice as much sauce as I would have liked. There wasn't nearly enough pulled pork on my husband sandwich either. The girl working in the bar did not check on us once. In fact the best service I got the entire time I was there was from the waiter who wasn't even working in our section. Eventually we were waiting on our check and decided that we didn't want to deal with the girl in the bar and thought we might pay up front so that we might tip the one person who did help us. But as I approached the front she scooted right in front of me eager to cash us out. I was so irritated I didn't want to stay and paid without tipping anyone. To the gentleman working in the front of house Thursday night, good job. To the bartender girl, the kitchen, and the management. Shame on you. This is not how to keep customers.
Review Source:Food and beer are good but I love their service the most. They were all very friendly and the waiter always gave us good advice on food and drink (we had the same waiter every time but I still don't remember his name lol)
The last time we ordered Garlic Mozz Bread, pasta and caeser salad with chicken, they were pretty good too. Would like to go there during dinner time next time.
Food and service are good. Â The beer is good too though they were out of the IPA which I presume is unusual. Â We ordered a small pizza for my two-year old that did not pass their own quality control. Â It was a little thin in the center for a hand-tossed pizza. Â They brought it anyway and shortly after made us a new one that was within their standards. Â I felt this was the appopriate thing to do even the both pizzas were fine for us.
My meal and my wife's meal were good and it was an overall average to above average experience. Â You can't beat this place if you're here to see a movie next door.
Came here for a lunchtime birthday thing with people from work. Â Had a great time and the food was really good. Â Was a lot less crowded than I expected for a lunch-time, which allowed us to get our food pretty fast considering there were a dozen of us. Â Definitely a place to come back to!
Review Source:I've been going to the Rock for several years now. The pizzas are great. I'm starting to try the pasta dishes and burgers now and they are really good too. Great place to go to right before seeing a movie since its next door. Best time to go is all day Sunday for the half price "Bucket" drinks  and it's not as busy as Saturday night .
Review Source:Excellent food, excellent staff, excellent everything. Except it is always so loud in there. I have been here multiple times, all on different days at different times. Every time their service was consistent, even the noise. It's not just uncomfortable loud, it's you cannot hear the person on the other side of the booth loud. If I could stand the noise this would be 5 stars. Â Absolutely the best pizza around.
Review Source:I've come to find that when a restaurant has a theme they concentrate more on that then the quality of their food but the pizza here was pretty good, although the large seemed a bit small and somewhat pricier than what I'm used to. Â
We got the "Crazy Little Thing" veggie pizza and they had no issues with us wanting to substitute one of the ingredients. My friend and I really loved the crust. Â I loved the large soda cups, but what really made these 2 California girls smile was the "Cookie Dough" dessert they had which for those of you familiar with BJ's "Pizookie" is very similar.
If my friend stays in this area and I go back to visit again I'll probably want to go back to "The Rock".
What a surprise. Walked into the early 90's type of pizza place (music wise..might of been actually just a cool rock joing) but was very stylized and I didn't mind much. Got the beer battered chicken and beer battered fries (I like beer.yum). My 4yr got the cheese pizza which she loved. My 17yr old got the french onion and she ate it like there was no tomorrow. My g/f got a bacon cheeseburger and said it was one of the best burgers she had since we've lived here (only been about 2 years and I haven't taken her to Herfey's yet).
All in all not a bad place at all. A tad pricey, but seems like it would be a rockin place to go after a day of playing softball with about 10 friends. And you don't feel so dirty or out of place like at certain other places that serves PINTS and QUARTS. :)
I only have eaten at the lunch buffet, and one trip during happy hour when I was waiting for my rims and tires to be put on at the Discount Tire next door.
The lunch buffet was very good, there was a great selection of pizza, some pasta dishes and a little salad bar. Plus you get a separate house salad or Caesar salad if you want one brought by the server. The cold pasta salads were tasty, especially the noodle and chicken concoction. The pizza was fresh and delicious, about ten different varieties, and they replaced them quickly with new flavors. Then the white chocolate cherry cookies were great. Plus around $9.50 including tax and a soft drink or another buck for a beer makes it a great deal.
Happy hour was pretty decent, I had a decent burger and the prices were low.
Awesome pizza. They have a shit load of selections but in the inside its like red bricks every where .. I liked it and they brew their own beer and thats a plus. I got this honey wheat beer that was so awesome. They have a selection of white sauce and red sauce selections... I had both. The white sauce is different but I liked it. Parking is big ...
Review Source:4 stars for the service. Â There was a slight - and I mean slight - delay in the arrival of one of our dishes (they brought the first two out so they wouldn't get cold) the manager dropped by to apologize. Â It's great - stuff like this make you feel like the management gives a damn. Â We didn't feel like we were particularly inconvenienced, but they offered a discount on the late arriving item. Â Hey - mistakes happen - and when a restaurant goes out of its way to take responsibility for this, it's a breath of fresh air.
Had a chicken sandwich which was tasty.
So, if upper management reads this, reward your management and waitstaff here. Â They are doing a bang-up job.
It is convenient to our favorite movie theater so we will be back.
Nothing more to add about the decorum - it is as described.
We had a pasta dish and a pizza. Neither I can remember the names of which tells me it wasn't 'that' memorable. It's too loud for it to be a regular place for me, and I'm an old head banger.
I might stop in for a drink before a movie, but check out my reviews for the best pizza in Olympia.
Over priced in my opinion. I treated my daughter to lunch and it cost us nearly 50.00 with tip.
I love this place. Â When you walk in you're almost bowled over by the hilarious ROCK N ROLL!!! theme, what with all the faux-brick facade and hair band aesthetics. Â They serve rum drinks in those plastic beach sand castle buckets and jello shooters in plastic syringes, for cripes sake. Â So if they're using gimmicks like that of course you don't expect the pizza to be any good.
Except that it is. Â In fact it almost tastes just that much better because you didn't expect it to be. Â They like to load the pies up with tons of toppings and give them silly names, but you can create your own if something like "Meaty Beaty Big and Bouncy" doesn't appeal to you.
Their house beers are brewed by Fishtale downtown and are pretty good - a lot less hoppy than the beers they brew under the Fishtale name. Â And since they want you to buy their beer they don't carry anything by many other breweries, but luckily they've got the basics covered.
Went here a while back with a couple of friends for some quick eats before a movie at Regal Cinemas.
We were seated pretty quickly, and our orders were taken pretty quickly. The manager came out and introduced himself and asked how everything was going. Nice touch.
The food quality was middling. The pizza was not great, but not bad either. Very average, I'd say - and a little pricey for what one gets.
Our check took a while to come. One of my friends (who was an Olympia local) was pretty worried about making it in time to the movie and vowed to complain to the manager. However, the check came and we made it to Regal in time.
First of all let me say that I have only been here for the lunch buffet...I know that will not surprise anyone. They are always packed on the evenings that we walk by here on the way to the Regal Cinema.
Lunch buffet -- they make every kind of pizza on their menu and I have heard that if you have a special request, that they will whip it up in no time. Small but nice salad bar, a couple of selections of pasta with sauce, a soup choice, LOTS of pizza hot out of the oven and cookies for dessert. $8.79 + tax includes a drink. Out the door for $9.54 plus tip. Another winner that is especially perfect for that work crowd celebrating a birthday lunch. Service is always great at lunch.
Yeah no. Â A corporate, pandering feel. Â Pizza and salad taste good due to the abundance of greasy meats and overall sodium content. Â One plate of crispy bacon bits over crispy pepperoni and more crispy bacon please! Â Decent sauce that doesn't take over the pie. Â Nothing special about the crust.
Every song I heard in high school played during our visit. Â Makes me feel manipulated somehow. Â Service was perky and attentive.
I can't say I won't be back because sometimes the Lacey theater exclusively shows a movie I want to see and it's too damned handy and the margaritas are good. Â BUT I'll always feel like a bad girl when I visit. Â Like high school.
Restaurant overall - 3.5 stars
Pizza - 4+ stars - A vast selection of original pizza topping combinations. The wood-fired aspect works very well with their toppings. I have been impressed with nearly every one that I have tried.
Beer - 3.5 stars - their own brews are actually pretty good, but it would be nice if there were a wider selection of beers from other breweries
Wait in line - 3 stars - Do NOT walk in at 6:00 PM on a Friday or Saturday. But they do sometimes give you free pizza while you wait for a table. This is nice and its something a lot of places would not do.
Atmosphere - Over-the-top classic rock theme. A bit too much for me.
Not sure why they often set your pizza on a tray separate from the table. They tables are plenty big to hold any of their pizzas, especially when only two people are dining at a table.
Prices are not cheap; they are about what you would expect in a city larger than Lacey or Olympia. But hey, its a handy location and the food is good.
Its really a 3.5. Good pizza's, good beer and right next to the movie theatre, so you can skip the crappy movie theatre food. Our waiter was pretty cool too. Overall decent pizza joint. The only problem is that it seems to be the place where all the kids with the affliction t-shirts and ugg boots are hanging out, and they seem to like attention... whatever. I probably be back for more soon...
Review Source:Great pizzas. Â Plenty of good micro brews. Â Good stuff. Â You will find at least one specialty pizza that you will like.
I can't say much about the sandwiches or salads as I haven't tried them but the looked good as they came by.
I recommend the Crazy Train pizza. Â It's spicy with the right amount of toppings. Â Right next to the movie theater so sometimes parking can be tight.
I would recommend it for pizza and beer.
It totally sums up this place that they have a microbrewed light beer. Â It is sort of "Hard Rock Cafe" feel, but with both watery domestic and tasty, brewed-by-FishTales beers. Â The beer sampler is a deal: Â 5.25 for 5 or 6 samples. Â Most were very good. Â
Pizza was good but light on the toppings. Â Other items have been hit or miss.
Service varies from good to authentically stoned.
Happy hour is in the bar only.
We celebrated my son's birthday here last night. Â Their no reservations policy made that a little tricky on a Friday at 7:00. Â Their pizza is good, quite good. Â Once we got seated the staff really bent over backward to take care of us.
The must-try item is cheesy-garlic-brown sugar bread. Â Yes, it really has garlic, cheese, and plenty of brown sugar. Â The first time we ordered it, it was just for the novelty. Â It's really good, though.
The 3 star rating is because:
1. I will always choose Brewery City down the street.
2. I think their prices are high.
3. I'm not a big fan of classic rock : )
