Five stars for being an incomparable place in Olympia to drink beer. Â The spirit of this place is great, unfortunately they close at 11pm. Â They keep small quantities of great fresh beers from all over, rotating constantly, so the beers are a limited time only and the meads are even more limited. Â Meads are tapped every Wednesday and tend to run out on the first day. Â The staff is small, knowledgeable, and seem to really enjoy their work.
Review Source:By FAR, the best place to grab a beer in Olympia. (No offense, Eastside and Fishtale--I love you guys too.) BUT, there is just no competing. Skep offers an amazing ever-changing menu of delicious microbrews and local brews. The menu also provides thorough descriptions of flavors and notes; a complete taste profile. You can order a glass, a half pint, or a full pint, and even a growler of pretty much everything on menu. They have a reverse side listing bottled beers offered as well, (which when ordered, will still be served to you in a glass which makes it somehow feel and taste more special). Once you have been here one time, any time you return thereafter, you will be greeted by your first name (YES, they remember you!) PLUS, very reasonable prices for a very good buzz. I have left this place in a great state of tipsy for less than ten bucks, and a lot more satisfied than I would be with any average beer! The meads are delicious as well. I recommend trying a variety of things, so drinking small quantities (half pints or glasses). I love how every time I go here, the menu is never the same, and they still know my name. If you appreciate superior beer, and enjoy a bright and conversation-encouraging, beer-and-mead-only (no hard alcohol, no food on menu) bar, this is the place for you. And did I mention, if you do get hungry, you can bring your own snacks or Wally's sandwiches is right next door and will happily deliver your sandwiches right to your table at Skep!
