Greater Olympia Dixieland Jazz Festival

After going to the 2012 Greater Olympia Dixieland Jazz Festival at Saint Martin's University and all I can say is WOW! This 4-day festival was so much more than I was expecting! I came in thinking I would sit and listen to jazz bands. How wrong I was! The first thing I noticed was the sea of RVs.  A large section of the parking area was devoted to them. I walked past the RVs to pay for my ticket at the Marcus Pavilion.  I thought the Friday-only price of $40 was a bit steep. Then I saw all of the activities available. There were so many dancers! I had a chance to talk to quite a few of them during the day. It turned out many had driven across several states to attend. I did my best to remember my moves from 10 years a go. I was very relieved to learn lessons were included in the ticket price.

I had a great time and will be back for 2013!

The 2013 Greater Olympia Dixieland Jazz Festival will be on June 27, 28, 29 and 30.
