The food here is usually good but sometimes the hot pressed sandwiches are a little soggy (which is gross). Â Also, the new manager is a lot better than the old manager (who I think was the owner). Â He was a nice guy but very cheap so if they made a mistake he would apologize but never offer a free sandwich or anything. Â All and all a good place to eat in the loop.
Review Source:So I was gifted a Groupon from this place for free lunches. What's better than free lunches? Nothing!
It's tucked in a building off LaSalle, in one of those Hot Guys With Lawyer Ties buildings. Full of hotties. Real, smart lawyers who are not evil disbarred criminals and who work hard for a living - hot. But . . . I digress, and am babbling.
I got the Philly Steak Melt. First, let me say I am not a fan of wraps. But WHOA, this place serves wraps for people who don't like wraps. The nicest guy in the world works the counter, so friendly and cute.
It's one of those places where you order, and then they bring your food out. I like these places 'cos you can munch on your Salt n' Vinegar potato chips, sip your lemonade and scope out hotties.
The wrap. Ohhhhhhh, juicy and delicious. I was hungry that day, so this was the perfect size for lunch after you've skipped breakfast. Juicy roast beef, melted cheese and green peppers. And a delicious sauce to dip the wrap. Have I mentioned juicy and delicious? This was a "hot pressed" wrap, so it was warm, and the wrap was not the usual weird, rubbery, throwaway tortilla, but a crispy, savory, crunchy wrap of yum around the delicious ingredients.
I got three more lunches on that Groupon, but I'll be back for more after that. There's a lot of stuff I want to try on that menu.
I found this place by accident the other day walking around looking for something new to try. I wasn't that impressed. I had the skinny buffalo wrap. Everything about it was bland. The chicken was okay the sauce was also just okay. It wasn't that filling. I went sometime around 120 p.m., so there wasn't a long line. I don't know if I will be back. The wrap was okay, but just bland. No real flavor or excitement in it.
Review Source:Roly Poly certainly gets credit for some tasty sandwiches, but that is about where it ends.
I have been to Roly Poly several times and they are constantly understaffed for a Loop lunch area. One time I only counted one cook in the back, and two cashiers. The line was quickly growing out the door. Â This is important to recall because I was the first person in...and I had been waiting nearly 20 minutes for my sandwich. Thinking this a one-time occurrence, I gave them another shot. Same story. They put out 3 sandwiches in 25 minutes. Honestly, they are on LaSalle Street; there are lawyers everywhere who measure their lives by the 10th of the hour, who are now waiting 20+ minutes for a damn sandwich.
Additionally, the menu has too many sandwiches, and are numbered in a non-sensical order. I don't know how they stay in business as a fast-food/lunch establishment. I would really need a reason to go back. There are many other options in the area who do the same thing, only better and faster.
Location: its pretty much in an alley off of Lasalle across the streen from Northern Trust Bank. I have found a new "once a week" lunch spot near work! They closed many suburban locations so I have to get my fix when I am on my lunch break. The first thing I noticed is the staff is as friendly, courteous and polite as they get. I was about to buy a hot wrap, and he suggested a similar hot wrap on their daily special getting me a drink and chips for the same price, and they bring your lunch to your table, not yell out your order. Thats proactive service! The food is delicious and healthy depending on what sides you add. Its the perfect alternative to any sandwich shop that getting too routine. Prices are fair, and there are so many options! I rarely give 5 stars, but 1 of those is just for the service.
Review Source:I honestly do not know how this place stays in business with their Groupon deals. Nevertheless, I am grateful for their bargains and delicious food. Â We came here on two different ocassions. Â
The first time we came, the weather was great and I ordered a hot wrap--Chicken Cordon Bleu. Â The Chicken Cordon Bleu was delicious and it came with a side of dipping sauce. Â The large order was so big I was able to take the other half home and have it for dinner. Â The shop was PACKED with people so finding a seat was really difficult.
The second time we came, the weather sucked. It was pouring rain. Â However, on the plus side, the crowds were gone so we were able to sit and enjoy our meal. Â This time, I ordered a cold wrap--Ceasar wrap. Â It kinda sucked.
If I come here again, I'll know to go on a rainy day, to order a Chicken Cordon Bleu.
I bought the Groupon for the 5 sandwiches with your choice of side and drink each time for $19 and I was very happy with my purchase. Â I came four times because one time I let my friend use one of my punches on my card. Â We only ordered their hot wraps but I'm sure the cold ones are probably good too. Â Both the potato salad and pasta salad are very good. Â I also had a oatmeal cookie one time and that was very delicious. Â I had the pesto chicken wrap two times once with onions and once without onions, chipotle chicken wrap with no bacon or onions, and the classic tuna melt without bacon. Â I did have a problem with ordering because I asked for no bacon on the chipotle wrap and I had to remove the bacon myself because they put it on there anyway. Â Then I had to pick the onions out of my pesto chicken wrap when I ordered it without onions. Â It seems like they have a problem communicating the information to the people actually making the wraps. Â Other than that I didn't have a problem with the workers. Â The people at the cash register were always friendly and there was one man who would ask if everything was okay and tell you to have a good day when you left. Â I was surprised at how much of a good mood the people who worked there were in all the time. Â I would definitely go back if I were in that area downtown again. Â I really loved the hot wraps even though they put some stuff in there that I didn't want in there sometimes. Â I was also disappointed that they are only open until 4pm everyday and they are not open on the weekends at all which I think is bad for business because I would have went more if they had been open on Saturday or Sunday.
Review Source:I ordered delivery from here and was very underwhelmed. I had the salad with tuna, but they called saying they were out of tuna and substituting chicken salad. There was bland chicken salad on a bed of lettuce with tomato, cucumber, pepper, and carrot, but they forgot to put dressing with it. The apple turkey hot wrap I had had pretty much no filling. It was pretty much flat, and was so greasy. Will never order from here again.
Review Source:Hit or miss for me. Â The place has been packed lately as a result of several Groupon offers. Â I think the food and service have both suffered since. Â The last several times, my hot sandwiches have been soggy. Â They have also given me the wrong sandwich once during my last four visits. Â Check your order before you leave!
Review Source:I like the food enough to come back here, but I never get the right order. Â For example, I received a side of salsa with the Cordon Bleu hot pressed sandwich. Â My Roly Yo came plain, even though I ordered 2 toppings (clearly on the receipt). Â Unfortunately, I didn't realize these things until I was back at my office and I'm too pregnant right now to walk all the way back there. Â It could so much better than it is.
Review Source:I also got the Groupon to try this place out. It is a bit hard to find since it's like on a side street that sort of looks like an alley. They looked like they had a lot of to go orders.
I ordered the Buffalo Slim since I've seen it mentioned a few times. The lady gave me my cup and number, but didn't even ask me what I wanted for a side. I ended up just going to pick out a bag of chip. I think they were out of all the sides, but I heard her mention they had cookies. Well, it would've been nice to have an option.
Wraps look thin, but they are not a bad size. I have to say the wrap wasn't that good. I don't think the plum tomatoes belong in it. Also, it gets very liquid-y (you know what I mean) and messy to handle. So, my other half of the wrap was all wet. I ended up just throwing out the other half.
It didn't take that long for the wrap to come out, but the line built up fast. I have one more combo to use up and hopefully that one will be better.
Another decent restaurant located in shank alley right across from rockin burrito's and good american chinese. Â
I really liked this place the first time I came a few months ago. Â Fast, tasted good, and the price was right. Â I came again with co-workers to find a laminated new price on the board stuck over what was a good one, extremely BELOW par service, but still decent food. Â
Story: Â We were all waiting after our order was taken, as the guy at the counter yells your name when your food is ready. Â We waited for quite a while and over half of us had our food, except for two. Â Turned out he was yelling richard for anthony and craig for alex. Â So their food was ready a while ago, just couldn't 'read good' I guess. Â Oh well, we all got a kick out of it. Â
To date the price still sucks, and the service time is terrible, but the food is still ok.
Update: Tried ordering by phone ahead of time. Â Got hung up on twice..... Â PROOF of how poor the service is...
I grew up with a Roly Poly and this one just did not compare. The guy who was a cashier was rude, my sandwich was missing the avocado I requested (even though I filled out the "make your own sandwich" form.) And my sandwich was 95% lettuce despite requesting multiple other veggies, cheeses, ect. The prices would have been reasonable but I think $7 is a lot for a tortilla and  a lot of lettuce.
Review Source:I ducked in to grab some lunch with one of my many bosses. Surprisingly, there was no line, but actually getting a table took some effort..i.e. hovering next to a table and staring at the people sitting there until they gave up on their sit-in and left. Â Food is a little slow to come out, but it was delicious. Here's a tip--order a hot wrap if you have an audience..the cold one can be a little more tricky to eat and still love professional.
Pros: Healthyish, Baked Cheetos, Somewhat hidden so lunch swarm isn't too bad, Convenient spot off Monroe and LaSalle, Kewt Name!
Cons: Messy to eat, Fat Free Ranch as opposed to Hidden Valley Light Ranch (cardinal sin if you ask me..gotta love the HVLR), Can be tricky to get a table
Flabbergastedly shocked and delighted.
I went here because I had 10 free bucks at groupon, and the groupon now was 6 bucks for 10 bucks worth of food here. It didn't sound super appealing at the time, but a girl's gotta eat right?
I grabbed me a foot long roly poly ( chicken chipotle, I believe), a small thing of potato salad, and a drink.
The roly poly was SO GOOD. Nice, melted cheese, surrounding chicken, with chipotle mayo. It's the stuff that dreams are made of :). Â And, as far as the caloric content menu indicates, by far not the worst thing I could find to eat in the loop.
Next time I leave lunch at home, I'm definitely coming here.
The food is very good (I like their vegetarian soups especially), but what prompted me to write this review was the outstanding customer service I received today.
I ordered a sandwich and requested it be made without avocado due to a severe allergy. He entered this in the system and when my sandwich was ready, again announced "without avocado". I walked back to my office, sat down, looked at it and....what do you know. Avocado. Thank goodness I noticed before I bit in. Â So I walked back to the store, asked for the manager, and explained what happened. She had them make me a new one, gave me a card for a free sandwich next time, and gave me a cookie as well. Â All I really sought was an apology and a remake of my sandwich (and to make her aware because the situation could have been much more serious,), so the fact that she went the extra mile to make things right scored big points with me. Despite the volume, it shows they value their customers. I will happily be a repeat there.
Maybe I'm biased because I used to play with roly polys when I was younger (you know, those cute little black bugs that roll up when you touch them). Â Or, maybe it's because the name reminds me of a really cool ride that I should invent. Â Or, maybe...just maybe, I love this place because of their fantastic food that's healthy and full of taste.
Roly Poly and me are definitely friends. Â I'm here at least twice a week to get one of their healthy wraps. Â I will agree with other reviewers that the wraps are small, but the half portion for me is perfect and aligns with my healthy diet. Â
Some words of wisdom:
- Order the hot wraps; they're much tastier
- Play around with the different sauces
- Get there early if you want to get a seat
- Try their cookies; they're delicious!
My verdict: GUILTY... of being too healthy and tasty for my own good.
I like the salads (they have 5 choices or so) and the hot wraps but I'm not a fan of the cold wraps. There are about 20 choices of wraps and you can get them as full or 1/2 size.
It's a little hard to find this place since it's down what's basically an alley. All the food is made to order but they get it out in less than 5 minutes and there's almost always seating available.
Went here for lunch during the week because I got a Groupon Now for it. Â It's an average sized palce with an ok amount of tables. Â The place could be better lit though. Â After ordering at the very kind cashier they give you a card so they bring it to the table you sit it.
I had the corn bisque, chich had a nice bit of spice to it. Â It smooth and creamy and not too salty. Â I also had the walnut spinach salad. Â Everything was very fresh and nothing wilted. Â It was ok but nothing remarkable, it is a salad afterall. Â They probably should have put some citrus on the avocado so it wouldn't brown so fast.
This place is an ok one to go to if you're looking for a healthy and fresh lunch. Â I can see it being a little pricey without the groupon though
Yummy little spot! Tried it with a Groupon Now ($7 for $10 worth of food) and was rewarded with quite a feast.
The soup is really tasty and the Oriental Chicken Wrap is absolutely delicious - light, refreshing, perfect for summer lunching.
Be forewarned: the "whole" size is a steal for $6.50 but it is ENORMOUS! Should feed a normal person for 2 lunches....1 for me ;-)
Nice little soup/salad/sandwich spot in The Loop. Â Tucked away on a little side street of LaSalle, this place is worth a lunch visit from time to time.
I had the Chow Chicken Salad (mixed greens, sliced Chicken Breast, crispy chinese noodles, dried cranberries, avocado, plum tomato, scallions, carrots, cucumber, green pepper, alfalfa sprouts, with sesame ginger dressing).
Not only did I feel good about myself, but I can honestly say it was one of the most delicious salads I've ever had. Â Easy to say when I've only had two salads...in life! Â (just kidding of course...or AM I?)
For those tired of the potbelly sandwich works seen, where the staff is always friendly, but the choices seem tired and the product seems much too manufactured, then Roly Poly is for you.
After stopping in for lunch I can honestly say I really enjoyed my sandwich here. The ingredients appeared fresh, the wrap was a nice departure from the typical carb overloaded sandwich shop and the my sandwich (or more appropriately referred to as "wrap") tasted good. I ordered the buffalo chicken wrap, which came with grilled, not fried chicken, cheese and a moderately spicy buffalo sauce. Very enjoyable, and thankfully I opted for the large size because a small/half size would not have been enough for lunch. I feel fat just saying this, but the half size was definitely not large enough to pass for lunch. Maybe adequate for a snack, but pay the extra $2 for lunch, you won't be sorry.
Overall I am growing to be a Roly Poly fan and I'm looking forward to trying more of their tasty goodness.
you know what's soooo weird?! The Santa Fe chicken hot wrap tastes IDENTICAL to this fajita wrap my mom used to get from McDonald's when we lived in Texas! She was so sad when we moved to Chicago and she realized the midwest doesn't appreciate McD Tex-Mex. Â
So at least the Santa Fe chicken reminded me of something.....I can't say the same for the Thanksgiving wrap. EEK. Cold, lumpy overly sugary stuffing AND cranberry with tiny bits of deli meat turkey.
pretty gross.
So I was pretty excited to check out this place, but the excitement left as soon as I took a bite of the sandwich. It was not good....at all. I have given this place 3 tries and each time has concluded with the same result...an unfinished sandwich and a disappointed belly.
Aside from the taste, I was also disappointed with the bang for my buck. The sandwich was not very big and it was pretty freaking expensive. I probably am done with this place, especially since a slamming burrito place is right across the street. Yikes Roly Poly.
"Wow that's healthy!" and "Wow that tastes great!" are not reactions to food that find much room for overlap, sadly. Wherever that overlap exists, though, I want in on it. Enter Roly Poly sandwiches.
I looked it up ahead of time and saw that they bragged about nutrition. Okay, well so does Subway, and it advertises low fat sandwiches but really they are not because of the high-fat ingredients you have to specifically tell them not to add and arghghgh...sorry, I hate Subway. But Roly Poly is legitimately sensible eating!
They make wraps here, and some other stuff too, but I was mostly into the hot wraps. I got a turkey wrap with bacon, pepper jack cheese, and spicy honey mustard sauce, and the 6" half-sized wrap packed a flavorful but not caloric punch. It's a great way to eat food you love but portion it well. Also they carry baked Cheetos, which I haven't found anywhere these days.
There's always a catch! Or, rather, two. First, the lady taking my order expressed under her breath that it'd be hard to add the honey mustard to the wrap instead of on the side. She didn't tell me, though, she kind of passive-aggressively muttered it. Uh, okay. I wasn't asking for a dodo egg, lady. Also the kitchen is awkwardly closed off to the point where you get a slight window into the kitchen but it's a tease as a result. They take their sweet time but the wraps ensure that I'll be back.
Also, it's located in an alley that's its own self-contained "arcade." A bit strange, but cool at the same time.
Great wraps at a reasonable price ($6.25 for a whole). Â I had the chicken cobb wrap. Â Is it weird eating both egg and chicken at the same time? Â I mean we are just throwing all forms of respect to the wind with the Chicken Cobb. Â CHIOP THEM UP; AND THEIR BABIES!!!!! MUAHAHAHAHA. Â
They serve breakfast into the lunch hours +1
Huge selection of cold/hot wraps +1
Chip selection is large with several "baked" options +1
Seating is limited so don't go to sit during the lunch rush
As a vegetarian that likes to eat healthy this place rocks. Â Service is always spot on and the owner is often there making sure everything is going smoothly. Â I really like the spring asparagus soup, monster veggie wrap (minus dressing), california hummer wrap, spa salad and nut & honey wrap. Â Ive been to this place at least 50 times and they have yet to mess up my order. Â The food is always fresh no matter what time you go. Â The breakfast wraps are OK, they are a little plain for my liking and have a bit too much liquid in them.
The restaurant can be hard to spot as its down the arcade a little east of LaSalle.
Ive been working in the loop for 10 years and always eat lunch out. Â This is one of my favorite places to go.
Reunited and it feels so good...
I'm pleased to say Roly Poly and I have made up. Â I got the nicest note from the owner saying that based on my yelp feedback, the Spinach Stuffer is back. Â He was very nice and appreciative of my feedback, apologized for any wrong orders and also offered order ahead as an option to avoid the longer wait. Â
This is a big deal people. I cannot tell you how rare it is to find an establishment that truly cares about customer feedback. Â And they brought back the spinach stuffer!!! Â This thing is the cat's pajamas- it's made with cornbread stuffing with an out of this world mustard dipping sauce. I was back there today- oh, Roly Poly, how I've missed you so.
I believe in giving my business to places that act as though they actually want it. Â Roly Poly has gone way above and beyond here- would give six stars if I could. Â I'm impressed that they read and care about yelp reviews. Also, I've now confirmed for myself that the world wants to hear what I have to say. Â I should, nay, I must let everybody know what I think all the time. Â Here I come, world!!
RP is a decent lunch option in the Loop. Â The staff is pretty friendly and the cafe area very clean so it should be no surprise that it gets insanely busy during peak lunch hours. Â It will be tough to find a place to sit in the small cafe area between 11:30 and 1:30 so take-out might be your best bet. Â
The food is ok but I'd love it if the wraps were a little more robust (i.e. Â FILL'EM UP!). Â Maybe it's just me being gluttonous but when I order my usual (the Turkey Applejack) I really want to taste every ingredient and RP has a tendency to slack on some things and slather on something else that poorly compensates. Â I stopped in today and my Applejack was completely covered in mushrooms but lacked the sweetness of the apple butter that's supposed to be on there and I felt completely cheated out of some bacon.
If you're looking for hot wraps, cold wraps, salads, and soups that I think are lighter fare then RP is an A-OK choice every once in awhile but it's missing that "gotta have it" quality and consistency in the food.
Yum. Â Close to my office, lots of choices, and tasty? Â I'm sold. Â Roly Poly is my new go to lunch spot. Â There are so many wraps to choose from that it's almost a turn off for me, too many choices confuse me. Â But they all look so tasty and the few I've tried so far have been good. Â They have a good selection of veggie wraps too which I really appreciate. Â
As with all Loop lunch spots they get busy around noon. Â They are quicker than a few other places I've been though *cough*corner bakery*cough. Â I don't mind waiting a few minutes for my lunch to be made when it's being made fresh and I've never waited longer than a few minutes at Roly Poly.
The wraps are numbered, they aren't in order and some numbers are missing. Â I asked what's up with that last time I was there and was told that the missing numbers will pop up as specials. Â This leaves me slightly frightened that their almost overwhelmingly large menu can get larger. Â It also makes my OCD slightly twitchy, but I'll forgive them that.
Roly Poly is AWESOME. Â If this place were a little closer to my office, I would be here seriously every single day. Â Let me tell you why:
-Grilled wraps. Â Is there anything better than when they grill your tortilla and it gets all crispy on the outside, whilst melting together the tasty ingredients on the inside? Â I feel like I shouldn't have to explain why this phenomenon is fantastic and takes 3-4 minutes per sandwich. Â I'm OK with waiting that extra 3-4 minutes.
-Soup! Â RP has killer soups, in particular the chicken tortilla (a soup I never like) and the chili.
-Frequent eater cards. Â It's tough to beat the feeling of turning in a full punchcard of diligently consumed sandwich meals for that final free one at the end of the wrap rainbow. Â This is a trend that many places have sadly been turning away from in recent days. Â RP still does it right.
I came here because I had a 20% off any sandwich coupon- first time ever hearing of this place. I chose the Cuban sandwich, which happened to be their meal of the day so the coupon didn't count. Whatever, I was still getting a deal.
My order took about 15 minutes to arrive to me, which was kind of ridiculous at a fast food place. There were about 5 people back in the kitchen but they were all standing around talking. The people who came about 3 minutes after me all got their food at least 5 minutes before me. The poor guy who came after me still didn't have his by the time I left.
The sandwich was ok tasting but when I lifted it up to eat it started leaking some sort of water- not sure what it was from. It ended up completely soaking the other half of my sandwich. I couldn't pick it up to eat it and had to eat the top with a fork.
Definitely won't be back.
Ahem. Â Umm. Â Yes, so I was underwhelmed. Â I was prepared to come in and to love it. Â Unfortunately, RP did not meet my expectations.
I cannot fault the service. Â Everyone was warm, friendly, capable, and efficient. Â After letting the person taking orders know that it was my first time, I was immediately given an explanation of the RP setup and given a frequent customer card and menu to take back to my office. Â That part was delightful.
I followed a fellow Yelper's recommendation and ordered the Cider House Melt with a side of RP's pasta salad. Â The Melt came on a whole wheat tortilla and the filling consisted of smoked turkey breast and Black Forest Ham, Swiss cheese, and baby spinach, mushrooms, and onions. Â The wrap came with a side of apple ranch dressing (easily the best part of the sandwich!). Â My melt had fresh sauteed 'shrooms; none of that canned stuff here! Â
There was nothing wrong with my sandwich or my pasta salad...but, the food was bland. Â It's a little difficult to deconstruct a heated wrap to add salt and pepper to the fixings, so I didn't. Â The sandwich's flavor, thankfully, improved tremendously with the addition of the cider dressing dip, but the pasta salad could not be saved. Â It was filling and included lots of veggies and cheese, but could have been helped along with a stronger acid and more seasoning.
I'll be back to try some soup or another wrap soon, when I have the time to wait for my lunch. Â Other reviewers mentioned that the wait for food here is slightly longer. Â They are right. When I placed the order, I was told the wait would be 6-7 minutes. Â 12 minutes after ordering, I walked out holding my wrap...
So yeah, Roly Poly was never really my nickname in high school. Â Phew! Â I had to come clean...
I have been on a total RP kick lately and eat there about 2 times a week. Â Every time I go, I love what I order. Â It just simply takes a little bit longer than most places, even with no line. Â So yeah, give yourself a little extra time or a dose of patience and you will be happy.
This place should put some of their items on a $1 menu, and take $2 off the price of everything else. Â How do you pass off a simple turkey wrap as a 'fine sandwich'? Â
To make up for it, the staff is friendly and the soup, particularly the chili, is great.
It's just not unique enough to charge a lot for. Â Everything here is just plain old grocery store ingredients on a tortilla and either hot-pressed or not. Â
I work in the same building it is in and if it never rained, I'd probably never go.
Food-wise, I like Roly-Poly. Â Service-wise, they need some help. Â I went in and got soup and a wrap - no special order, just right off the menu. Â The girl could not understand how to spell my name and instead of the usual "Ivan" or "Evonne" I got something like "Yvvnoe" Â - WTF? Â The manager didn't even know how to call this out when the order was ready!
I got the soup and was waiting for the wrap - for 10 minutes. Â I didn't realize this would be a course-type experience - especially for take out. Â The wrap itself was pretty bland and the soup just blah. Â Plus, the line is super long because the menu has too many options and pre-made selections for people to process quickly.
I would either phone in an order and be prepared to add spice or sauce on your own or skip this and make it yourself.
Downgraded!!
Ordered online per usual today but still waited 15 minutes for my sandwich. Â That's half my lunch break!
Also, apparently they have frequent buyer cards that entitle you to one free sandwich for every ten purchased. Â Funny how no one there has ever mentioned it before. Â I should ask if they stamp the cards retroactively.
This place is solid! So much to choose from! You can get quite overwhelmed if you just walked in here blindly and tried to decide on what you want. There is a tremendous amount of options to choose from. My suggestion would be to grab a to go menu and study it and make your decision before you go there.
After studying the menu carefully, I actually ordered the wrong wrap! Oops! I ordered a California something or other. I forgot the exact name. this was a vegetarian wrap. I meant to order the California something else, which had turkey. Â I was not about to send it back because I was the one who screwed up. I was pleasantly surprised as it was still really good, this is coming from a major carnivore.
There are several other things on the menu that I want to try so I will be back for more. The service here is friendly and fast and the place is well kept. Â For being in the Loop, this place is a decent value too.
YUM!
I don't know why I never tried Roly Poly before. Â There is a location by my parent's house but it just looked so cheesy w/ their logo that I never wanted to go in.
I went in on their first day of being open to the public. Â I'm sure they overstaffed to try and appease the crowds that came. Â There are a plethora of options and I was a bit overwhelmed and there were easily five that I could have ordered. Â I ended up with the Philly Steak and needless to say it was simply delicious. Â My only complaint would be the use of raw onions, it left an undesirable aftertaste that I could not get rid of. Â The regular could easily be enough for two meals if you have a light to medium appetite or are eating it with something else.
Service was friendly. Â However, I waited quite a bit longer than I expected. Â Mind you, I did get a hot wrap but still for the loop, it was long. Â However, with being overstaffed somebody took note of the fact that I'd been standing around for a while. Â
Prices are average for the loop, approx. a little under $7 for the regular. Â However, without a drink or chips, that does seem a bit expensive.
Will I come back? Â Definitely. Â Will it be a regular stop? Â No, mostly due to the cost factor.
(Sidenote: The loop definitely needs some more budget friendly options.)
