One of the most authentic feeling pubs on this side of the pond. Been here many times and have never been disappointed by the food or drinks.  Save room for dessert, the Guinness Chocolate Cake or Guinness Cheesecake are a must. If I have friends or family in town, this is the one place where we always go.

So far it's one of the best pubs I've been to. I specifically came here for the Guinness and it didn't disappoint especially when paired with a meaty savoury dish. I love everything about the decor and ambiance. It doesn't even feel like I'm in Richmond. Brings back memories of a particular pub in Toronto I used to enjoy. I'd say this supersedes that memory. A truly legitimate experience.

Good people, good beer, always a good experience. Never tried the food.

I  first discovered Rosie's on a week long business trip to Richmond.  My first impressions back then still hold true today...  they serve an absolutely marvelous Strongbow pint,  and they're extremely friendly to boot.

The food,  from what I have seen, is standard pub fare.  While I've only ever had the fish & chips,  I can say with confidence that it does indeed remind me of the fish & chips in had in London.  Whether that's good or bad is up to individual taste; I find that the English interpretation of fried fish is a bit bland.  Still,  one can't dock points if they're being authentic.

Do yourself a favor.  Stop in,  have a pint or two,  relax,  and listen in on the drama of the regular patrons' lives.

I've been to this place at least a dozen times and haven't had a bad experience yet. The beer selection is decent and the service is fast and generally quite friendly.  The common area in the front is cozy and relaxed while the dining area in back is a little more refined and intimate.  Sorry to say I haven't tried any of the food though.  Still though, a very dependable joint to knock back a few pints.

This is one of my favorite places in town to  meet up with friends for a few beers! The owner and staff are super friendly and attentive. Great pub food too. It's one of Richmond's best hidden gems!

The problem with an Irish bar and restaurant is if the food is authentic, it's still Irish. That said, this is pretty good. My authority on Guinness says this is the only place in town to get the real thing; I can't swear to that.

Nice beer selection and a decent pub menu.  I only had a salad so can't say much on the food.  However, had a couple bites of my husband's crab cakes and they were probably the best I have eaten so far in Virginia.  It was pretty empty when we were there but the atmosphere was great.

This place competes very well with Penny Lane a few blocks away for the best pub I've visited in Virginia. The food is very good, and I'd like to specifically say that the Crab-Cake Sandwich was phenomenal- a HUGE crab-cake with great flavor. The beer selection isn't bad either, and the service was friendly and fast. It's a very laid-back atmosphere, but the restaurant itself is much classier and nicer than you'd expect from a pub. The seats in the dining room are crazy comfy, and since it has a couple TVs in the dining room, this isn't a bad place to come catch a game while you enjoy some great food.

I still prefer the afore-mentioned Penny Lane Pub when I want to enjoy a few pints over some soccer matches, but this is the place to come for a tasty meal in a cozy, clean pub.

Wow!!! So I was driving a couple of ACF judges to the airport and we wanted to try something new, so while driving and getting lost we stumbled apon this little Irish pub off a coblestone road and it just drew us in.  The atmospher is amazine, we spent the better part of two hours visualy exploring the bar area and found it to be an experience unto itself. So when we were given a menu all three of us had a hard time deciding what we were going to eat, so the easy answer was we just all share eachothers meals and so we had (bangers and mash, Fish and Chip, and sheppards pie.  Each dish was a good as the last and I would give everyone of them a perfect five of five (size, taste, texture, plating...) I am not aACF judge by no means but I have 20 years of culinary experience and know a little bit.  I would recommend this pub to anyone I liked.  Will be visiting it again soon I am sure.

The food is soooo good, it looks like they picked this place up out of the UK and sat it in the middle of shockoe bottom. There isn't a better place to drink a pint at the end of the day.

Love Rosies, Tommy intoduced me to Redbreast pure pot whisky the other night.
From the exterior to the interior Rosies is perfect, Tommy is a gem and this is a great place all the way around.

Great beer selection--mainly imports. Tommy (or any of the bartenders, really) will help guide you to a new beer or whiskey if you ask :)  Service is always friendly.

Food is great--try the curried beef if it's on special. There is a separate dining room, but everytime we're there we sit in the bar area.

    Atmosphere is laid back.

Let me start out by saying that if I could give this place 3.5 stars I would.  We were searching for a place in Richmond with decently priced British pub food and I would say this fit the bill pretty well.  We normally go to Penny Lane but they recently raised their prices to a bit more than I want to pay for pub food.  Rosie's had a nice selection of beers but personally I would rather see Fullers on tap instead of Cains.  Good pub food.  I got the steak and mushroom pie which was tasty, although lacking in mushrooms.  It came with mashed potatoes that I'm pretty sure were from a box and steamed veggies.  The boyfriend got a burger and fries which he really enjoyed.  We will be back again and I plan on trying the fish and chips.

People swear up and down that this is the best pub in Richmond, and it's easy to see why.  The casual atmosphere, friendly patrons, and Tommy the bartender who pours a mean drink all lend themselves to this pub's award-winning equation.  If you haven't been here yet, you definitely should.

Folks it's a bar, drink here.

Tommy the bartender/owner is a throw back to your old school bartenders. He knows his craft and takes pride in it. He knows a good drink and how to make it, he pours a fine Guinness with a shamrock in the foam, and can mix a sold shot to get the fires going. Not an expensive place to put down some drinks. Came here on one specific occasion with the GF had multiple drinks, shot, and the bill came out to $40 with a nice tip included.

I can't vouch much for the food as I have only had the fries. The food looks appetizing enough but I can't say I would come here to eat, unless i was already drinking here.

All in all the people here are what really make this place special. You know a bar is good when it has regulars. The first time I came here it was like 4 in the afternoon on a Saturday. The regulars were already there. That is what I call a good sign.

Sub-Par food, but good bar atmosphere.  Its a small pub, and the food is just so-so I would say. I didn't mind the place for some beers, but I wont be going back for dinner.

This place really seems like a legitimate pub atmosphere from the decor to the food to the clientele.  My boyfriend and I went here for the first time this past weekend and we really liked it.  We got the baked brie appetizer and it was really good.  Served with sliced kiwi, a bunch of grapes, raspberries and crackers.  We didn't expect all that!  He got the bangers and mash for his entree, which he really liked.  And I got the stuffed peppers, which I had never had before and decided to give it a try.  I was really impressed and would order it again.  They have a nice beer selection and the place just felt cozy.

I've been here a couple of times, but after my last experience I won't be going back. I repeatedly recieved very poor customer service from both the wait staff and even the owner. I've never been impressed with the food or particularly drawn in by good food/drink prices- combined with the rude behavior of staff- rosie connollys is definitely a no-go.

Good atmosphere, good food, good beer selection and good Guinness. This seems to be a true Irish Pub. (from what I've seen on tv) It's small and cozy, has fine wood work all around, Irish and UK beers and really good food. The bar is slightly separated from the dinning area so that people can enjoy a nice meal and the place is very clean. I've heard that pubs have really good food and this Pub is very true to that statement.

I had the appetizer special which was well thought out. It was a shrimp  salad (like chicken salad) served with avocado, fresh fruit (ripe strawberries and kiwi) and crackers.

My main dish was fish and chips. A nice whole piece of filet fish, deep fried crispy with a side of chips (fries). The waitress was very friendly to us, had a good personality and did a very good job. She also reminded me of someone from the Irish pop group BWitched.

So far this was the best dinning experience I've had in the Farmer's Market Area. I've been to several Irish places in Richmond and Rosie Connolly's seems very real.

i came here to watch a soccer game several months ago, and had a good time. the beers they had on tap were good, and reasonably priced, and they had a full house for the game. the tv was unfortunately fuzzy, despite being a giant fancy flat screen, but by the end of it i was too drunk and too caught up in the excitement to care.

i found that the larger, second room reminded me strongly of the interior of a ship. this is actually really cool and not a bad thing at all.

definitely worth a visit, though most of the non-soccer clientele were middle aged at least, but it's good to see a place with regulars.

    i will be going back.

Rosie Connolly's exemplifies what is excellent about small local bars. While the selection of on-tap beer isn't ad extensive as other local bars, the brew that is on tap seems to be chosen with care and appropriately themed for the establishment. Strongbow, McSorley's, Guinness, and others were all on tap.

The staff was friendly and was on a first name basis with much of the clientele. The clientele was also friendly, striking up conversations. That bar on TV, where everyone knows your name? That is what it felt like.

I honestly have nohing but compliments for Rosie's. I  shall be back.

Rosie's is a great pub with above average food and a great waitstaff.  Located near the Farmer's Market off 17th St, there's great outdoor seating for the spring and summer evenings, and a very spacious interior (bar is separate from an eating area).
The whiskey and beer selection is awesome.  They actually have Tetley's on tap!  Try this beer if you're a fan of Boddington's or other draught style beers.  Yummy stuff.  Gets a bit smoky inside at times so be warned if you don't like to stink like cigarettes at the end of the evening.  If the owner Tommy is around, you're likely to hear some good Beatles tunes.
