I did not have the same positive experience, absolutely the opposite!  The host was"like yeah a table for 4", after finishing her conversation with her coworkers.  Our waitress was rude, spilled water on me after reaching across the table to fill everyone's glass, dropped our plates in front of us, and I was underwhelmed with the chicken special!  I would prefer Olive Garden over this anytime.  I wouldn't go back.  The steak restaurant is far better!  The bread was good but the dip was bland too!

Never again will I dine at this restaurant! My girlfriend and I went on a Sunday afternoon and we were able to get a table right away. Our waiter greeted us promptly and after our experience went down hill. It took him 15 mins to give us our drinks and bread. He explained the specials for the day which one was a rib eye that enticed me. When I received my steak it was cooked how I asked (medium). However, the steak was very fatty. More than what I expected from a ribeye. Not once did our waiter come to our table and ask how things were. After receiving our check, I was shocked to find the price of the "rib eye special". The meal was $45! I asked to speak to the manager. After explaining to him our experience he said "I can take $3 off your check." Bottom line...horrible service, mediocre food and outrageous pricing.

My boyfriend and I came into town to visit my mom. The three of us and my uncle came here for dinner before a little gambling. For a Saturday night they were exceptionally busy and when we called around 3 pm for a reservation the earliest seating time they had was 845- so I highly recommend calling and making reservations. We got there around 830 and were able to seat us immediately. It was absolutely packed with people and very noisy, but the seating is pretty cozy so it didn't hurt to just raise your voice a little to speak. Not only were the tables and booths packed with people but there were a lot of people at the bar as well. They serve a homemade hummus with fresh seasoned bread. I'm not a fan of hummus but this was actually really good. The bread was soft and warm too- I wish they gave you more because it was gone extremely quickly- especially because it took some time for the appetizers to come out.

We followed our guts, appetites and Yelp reviews and started off with Prosciutto and Fresh Mozzarella (delicious! There was chopped very spicy olives along the perimeter- so beware if you aren't a fan of spice- they are really east to take off. The presentation was really nice too, unfortunately we didn't take a picture), the Meatballs al Formo (another hit. The meatballs are small and it came with about 10 of them- perfectly spiced with a very nice sweet marinara sauce and tons of melted cheese. It was absolutely great), and the Arancini balls (another hit. My boyfriend and I are huge rice ball fans and these did not disappoint). We basically chose these three options because of you fellow Yelpers and you did not disappoint us.

For dinner my boyfriend and uncle both got the Grilled Hanger Steak. It was marinated very nicely and cooked exactly the way they ordered it. It was actually a really decent sized portion but they are it all. It also came with homemade fries that were covered in parmesan cheese with homemade ketchup on top. The fries were not as crunchy as we prefer but they were delicious and the cheese added a nice kick. The homemade ketchup was extremely sweet but good too- but  it should really be put on the side in the event that the guest doesn't like it, then it kind of ruins the fries all together, but you are given an extra side of regular ketchup. It also has a whole garlic clove that was roasted and was a hit.

My mom had the Shrimp Spaghettini- doesn't worry if you can't pronounce it; the waitress knew exactly what was being asked. My mom loved it- said the shrimp was extremely fresh and tasted very good. The portion was huge and my mom probably got about 2 more meals out of what she took home. I had the Baked Rigatoni and that too was great. The presentation was really pretty in an iron skillet and this portion was huge as well- I got an additional 2 meals out of my left overs. It was extremely (oven) hot, so be careful that you don't touch the dish and to give it time to cool before you start eating. I honestly have nothing bad to say about it.

The service was really good too. Our water glasses were always filled and I believe there are free refills on soda. We didn't order any special beverages so I can't comment on that. We will definitely be back there!!

Good value, yummy and broad menu. Nice wine list too. I stick with the nicely portioned appetizers here to enjoy as many tastes as possible. I recommend the arancini, ahi tuna and stuffed sausages. Service always good. Wish they had half-orders of their pastas, a full order would cause a carb attack :). I also would love to check out one of their cooking classes/tv shows. I'd give it five stars if not for the fact that it is in a casino :)

My fiancé and I went here for my birthday dinner. It was fantastic!! Our waitress was delightful and full of suggestions. We both enjoyed the atmosphere, it was like a bistro, busy but still romantic. We started with two glasses of wine and the beef gazpacho appetizer. It was our first time experiencing gazpacho and it was great. Thankful for the suggestion! For our entrees we enjoyed the pan seared scallops on top of a corn, bacon risotto (omg delicious) and the filet mignon with the mashed potatoes. We then, of course had dessert! He had the rich and decadent warm chocolate cake and I enjoyed the vanilla bean creme brûlée with a chocolate bottom. Now this was the first time I had creme brûlée but I would guess this is one of best! It was sooooo amazing. I would go back anytime just for dessert and I talk about it all of the time. All in all we truly enjoyed our meal here. It was very special :)

Excellent, attentive but not intrusive service.  Offers cooking class on Friday night.

Mozzarella prosciutto appetizer was nice.  Pay attention to the reviews - this place is inside a casino!

It's difficult to find a good restaurant open for lunch on a Monday in the Wilkes-Barre area so we decided to go to Mohegan Sun.  It appears that Rustic Kitchen was the only place available where you can sit down and order from a menu. The place is kind of "kitchy" as most restaurants are these days.  The lack of art work on the wall is another example of this decline.

Not sure what to expect we decided to order appetizers, entrees and a good bottle of wine.  Our waiter Jeremy was exceptional and attentive and put us at ease about the food.  Our appetizers arrived and I will say they were decent, not great, but decent.  The entrees were disappointing and being from New York, maybe we're spoiled and expected better.  At least the Chianti wine was acceptable.

When Jeremy returned we told him that the entrees were a big disappointment and that he should tell the chef that the pasta was cold and lumped together.  We really don't like to complain but needed to point out that we were restaurant designers and the kitchen should be more cognizant of what condition the food is in before it leaves for the customers table.  He apologized, of course, and we were appreciative and knowing that this may have been a rare day for the restaurant we would not make a "fuss" over this fault.

What surprised us was that Jeremy expressed our concerns to the General Manager, Bridget and she also apologized and indicated that the pastas are made fresh daily and was concerned about our meal.  We told her we appreciated her interest and we shook it off as an exception and not the rule.  Honestly, it didn't dampen our spirits and we knew we would visit again and felt that "next time would be better".  All of us are entitled to an "off-day", we've all been there!

To our surprise Bridget comped the entrees and for us that shows she really is a dedicated employee and wants the customer to enjoy their experience.

Well, to say the least, we were very pleased with this unexpected surprise and with that we can honestly say that because of Bridget and because of Jeremy we definitely will return and we're certain our next visit will be much much better.

Our kudos to two employees who care about their jobs and care about their customers.  We definitely appreciate it!

This is a culinary oasis in the midst of a casino filled with people on their last breath.  NO LIE; TRUE STORY! It's either rigor mortis on wheels with an oxygen tank attached to the back of a wheel chair,  as he or she pulls the levers of the slot machines or it's an over weight hill billy gambling away his rent  money against the rocks of despair, attempting to win his or her chance to be part of the 1% while puffing on a virginia slim. (think Selma and Patty, Marge Simpson's sisters).

In the middle of all this craziness,  is this seemingly ordinary i-talian restaurant.  We had a group of 10,  with a reservation, but there was some trouble getting our table in a timely manner due to table hogs.  As 10 homosexuals tapped our toes against the tacky casino carpet with arms crossed, our disappointment became obvious.  Filled with apologies, the hostess, manager, and another upper leveled personnel came to us apologizing endlessly with offers of free appetizers.  whaaaaaat? Please, take your  time.... throw in a drink too, bunny! We soon got our table and took our seats and were adorned by beautiful and friendly wait staff and management checking in on us.  Our appetizers came (on the house) with more apologies.  We ordered  a few rounds of sangria,  which were the best i've had in a long time.  AMAZEBALLS!  Sangria with 4 different appetizers, i was good to go.  Our food came out within a decent time frame... you don't want something that comes out immediately nor something that takes forever and leaves your stomach sucked up against your spine.  NOT SEXY.  I ordered the sea food Risotto.  This plate was amazing and  was very similar to a Paella i had in Brooklyn but  much better.  The Risotto had Lobster, jumbo shrimp, mussels, and sausage.  The risotto was the perfect consistency... soft but not soupy, Firm but not crunchy.   I seriously have not had a meal like this in my home city of New York, the capital of restaurants and food.

Unfortunately, i was so full i couldn't have dessert.  I would have LOVED to have tried something from that menu.   Everyone at our table was impressed.  It's very hard to impress a bunch of New Yorkers when it comes to food so this place def deserves 5 stars for the delicious food and amazing and attentive service.   I highly recommend this place.  Just don't let formaldehyde scented humans scare you away.  Come in and chow down, even if you're not gambling.  You won't regret it.

This is a place I will recommend to anyone looking for a great meal, entertaining time and fun with friends. I am writing the review for the "Cooking with Kate" show they put on in the back of the restaurant.

I have been to this dining experience twice and each time has been terrific.  The setting is in a space designed to be a functional cooking show - complete with cameras that can tape from time to time and all of the other video screens and layout that you would find in a TV station stage.

Kate is a fantastic host and makes the evening entertaining.  You have a great meal, plenty of wine a lot of laughs and walk away learning a little about cooking as well.  The cost is reasonable for the entire experience and I hope to continue to attend a few times a year.

It is a very nice place.  I went with my husband and son.  We ordered salad and pizza.   They give you complimentary bread (delicious).  Overall, very nice experience.  Will be back when we visit the area again.

The Rustic Kitchen at Mohegan Sun Pocono Downs is consistently consistent.  I've never had a bad meal/service here, however, I'm never blown away.  Recently, I enjoyed their 'soup du jour', which was a chicken tortilla.  My typical go-to meal is the baked rigatoni with meatballs (half-order, as the rigatoni dishes are enormous).

The drink prices are reasonable for being a casino restaurant and the staff is friendly and knowledgable.  The decor is another selling point of this place, as it's asthetically pleasing, and the people-watching if you sit in the front of the restaurant is second to none.

Forget Ruth's Chris....this is the go-to place at the Mohegan.

Rustic Kitchen is a pretty nice place to have a good lunch. It's very homey inside, the service is attentive and nice, and you hear the sounds of slot machines in the background. The walls are covered with wine labels, and the food is pretty good with generous portions.

I had the tuna tartar which was just a bit spicy and 2 triangular pistachio crackers that stood straight up. I was surprised at the height of the dish, but the flavors were unique and interesting. I enjoyed the spiciness to the dish.

I also had prosciutto and homemade mozzarella panini. The prosciutto was salty and savory and the mozzarella was great. It also came with a small salad of greens.

The portions are pretty big here and I ended up being really stuffed and content. A surprisingly good, filling lunch for sure.

Rustic Kitchen is my favorite place to dine when traveling to the Wilkes Barre area on business.  The atmosphere is very modern, clean and comfortable.  Sometimes I like to sit in the front to do "people watching" as  I dine, and other times I like the back when with a group.
This was the 2nd year in a row that we took a group of 6 customers for a Holiday lunch and look forward to doing it in 2012!  We all started with a glass of wine.  $6 to $8.50 a glass is very reasonable and I like that it is served in big goblets!
Several things on the menu sounded good and I had a hard time deciding but opted for the chicken panini ($9.), it came with a salad and home made chips (I could have chosen fries or pasta salad).  Everyone's food look fresh, delicious, and plentiful.  A complimentary basket of bread and humus are  put on each table. I could have made a meal just from that!
Service was spot on, and even the manager checked in with us.
The hostess did not even mind that we changed tables after we were seated.  (we preferred a round table).
    I highly recommend this restaurant.
