Best pho in the Twin Cities.  Homemade, fresh, everything you'd expect.  Here's where it gets really good.  You can taste every layer of flavor... cinnamon, star of anise...

I was having a major Banh Mi craving and decided to check this place out. It was a bit pricey but from the limited selections of Vietnamese restaurants around the area I could see why.

Service was good, the lady was really friendly. I ordered the grilled pork sandwich. When it came out what I saw was a sandwich tinier than your average banh mi size. I opened it up and looked inside, the pork looked really nice and juicy but there was literally only 2 pieces inside.

The bread was probably the best thing about the sandwich...and usually the bread is make or break for banh mi's. Fortunately the bread was nice, warm, and toasted with a good crispy texture. Most times you could get away with a decent bahn mi if only the bread is good but they were too greedy with the ingredients and I felt that the sandwich itself lacked flavor.

For an appetizer I had the shrimp eggroll, though it was expensive and honestly quite a simple dish, was really quite tasty. It reminded me of shrimp ball dim sum you can get in restaurants you'd find in a Chinatown.

I'm giving this place a generous 3 out of 5 stars for now because I believe I might find something else that is good here. Maybe the pho is good but that will need to be another meal.

Banh Mi Chicken- Thigh meat. *Whole* thai green chile inside. I wasn't a fan. The whole thai chile was a bit ridiculous, my head sweats just thinking about it. Not a fan of dark meat chicken either. Maybe I'll try the traditional headcheese banh mi next time.

Very friendly staff. The owner knows many of his customers by name. Love the pho, and really love the grilled pork platter. The combination of the pork, eggs, rice, and vegetables (that come with the platter) dipped into the fish sauce is awesome. Would definitely recommend if you like Vietnamese food.

Awesome Bun, Pho, Banh Mi and Spring Rolls.  Prices are nice and the staff is very friendly to boot.  Will be back and will be recommending to everyone.

I decided upon this place due to location and the Vietnamese.  The Thai-style chicken fried rice was super tasty and I LOVED the shredded chicken rice-noodle soup.  Great flavor, well cooked, great service, very good price (the best part!).  I definitely recommend this place to anyone wanting Vietnamese food!

Note this:  As of 1-1-09, Saigon Palace is closed on Tuesdays and there are no more lunch specials, just (apparently) the regular reasonable priced menu.  (I just learned this yesterday and haven't personally checked it out.)

We've frequented Saigon Palace since the day they opened.  The banh mi are excellent and make for a very inexpensive lunch if that's your need.  Both the grilled pork and the grilled chicken are wonderful; the baguette is lightly grilled and perfect for the sandwich - a lightly crisp outer crust.

At our request, Tony added Hot & Spicy Chicken to his menu but it's not on the 'regular' menu; it wound up on the back side of the lunch menu (See added note above) though it is available any time.  He makes it with white meat, rather than dark.  It's tasty but could maybe use more sauce.

Tony's a charming chap who will do everything in his power to assure you of a good meal.  A year ago, I approached him about a special meal for a group of about 8.  We wanted to keep the cost around $15 per person and he prepared a number of wonderful dishes for us -- try the boneless stuffed chicken wings on the appetizer menu.  It was a great evening!

The pho is excellent; I'm partial to the one with the oxtails in it.  (And if you don't like cilantro, he's happy to leave it out.  :-)

    You should go!

Fair prices, AWESOME PHO! My gf and I are there so much the wait staff is starting to remember what we order. :) It's a nice cozy mom n pop place, always clean tables and seating. The service is great, I get my water refilled sometimes 4 times a meal. The pork spring rolls are very good, as well as the cream cheese wontons. This place is just as good or better than lots of the asian restaurants I've been to, and it's within 5 minutes of my home. So this place is by far my overall favorite. saigonpalacemn . com
