Was there last Friday at 6:30,  looked over the awesome new electronic beer menu, went up to order only to be told "only the left half of the beers on the menu are available."  That was ok we found some beers.  Ordered some food, and it took 45 minutes for a chicken sandwich and a Caesar salad.  Something about the ticket machine being down.  We had to go to the bar and ask for our check when we left.  I hope they can get it together we need this pub in Downtown Vancouver!!!

So we've been here a few times since the last review, and each time service has been painfully slow.  Painfully slow.  We got greeted when we walked in the door (this last time) and we sat down and waited for 10 minutes.  That's not an exaggeration.  It really wouldn't have been that big of a deal except that it was pretty dead in there.  I'm not sure if they need to staff up (I know that could present some challenges), but after the last few experiences we don't go here any more.  And that sucks.  Because I like their beer.

Wow, this place has really changed for the better under new ownership. They have 25 beers on tap from some great breweries. The server knew the beer and was happy to talk about it and make recommendations. Food is decent, with sandwiches and a homemade veggie burger. There's a nice bottle shop next door.

I found the staff to be very friendly and attentive. There was a great selection of beers, especially stouts and IPAs. The tuna melt sandwich was great! I would absolutely return here again.

What a cool spot! Decorated like an Old time bar from the 20s. Tons of taps with lots of different beer styles, staff seemed willing to answer beer questions and guide  me to that perfect pint in spite of the fact the place was busy. Cuban sandwich was awesome, definitely positive changes in the old Salmon Creek . Thank you Buy the bottle!

Since the new management took over the food has improved and beer selection is fantastic! If your looking for great artisan and craft beers this is the place to go!  The owners are very nice and extremely knowledgable and can tell you about every beer they serve, without the beer snobbery found in some of the Portland brewpubs.

So much better now that the bottle shop (by the bottle) next door took over operations.  They got a ton of taps most are guest taps. I'm a big fan of the pretzels and sausage.

Ok I really want to like this place, I've been to By the bottle quite a few times which is next door.  Last week I was there and the owner was telling me that the Pub next door is under new ownership and I should check it out, they have something like 20 tap beers.  So thats pretty sweet, we went a few days later to check it out for some dinner and beers.  The location is pretty cool, seems a little strange though, seems like a fancy Italian place or something, there were several things that were strange though.  The chairs in the place seemed like they were out of some greasy spoon breakfast place. While they do have a good beer selection they have only 1 spot where the beer list is.... and its on a chalkboard when you walk in, so most customers have to get up and walk to a spot where they can see whats on tap, the waitress told us to get up and look at the chalkboard.  Their menu is not appealing at all in fact nothing looked good and if I hadnt been absolutely starving we would have gone to another place to eat.  We decided on some burgers, the burgers were actually decent but another weird thing is the glass of like 6 ketchup packets they brought out....what the hell?? Would it kill them to have just a regular bottle like every other place in the world, ketchup packets scream trashy for a place thats trying to be upscale.  Another thing is the place was cold as hell, like no heat on a fairly chilly day outside.  Overall, more bad than good.  I wanted to like it cause I havent found a decent beer/dinner spot in Vancouver yet but I guess its hard when you are a neighbor to Beervana.

Went in on a Thursday evening at 6 pm and took a seat at the bar. There was only one employee servicing the entire place!  After waiting ten minutes without acknowledgement, I left......for good!

This was my first visit here. My friend told me that he has been to this place previously and he had heard that it just had a recent remodel. This was supposed to be the first stop of the night. We ate here, had a few beers then headed out for the next stop. After a few beers at our second stop we decided to come back here as we both agreed we liked the beer selection at Salmon Creek better.

Very friendly staff, nice selection of brews.

I had a burger that was very tasty. My friend had a sandwich and he said that his was really good as well.

After not returning to SCBP for several years after and insipid meal with flat beers and burned food, I decided to give it another shot as it would be great to see this place flourish because something like this is desperately needed in downtown Vancouver.

This is a nice building with with plenty of comfortable seating and a patio. The interior could use a few things to look at as it is fairly sparse and an off color. Sitting out on the patio is nice on a warm night.

The beer: I am glad to see local micro brewers moving into downtown and recently becoming available on tap, however the ones sampled were merely standard and will probably not blow your hair back. I am not sure if the lines were recently cleaned as a few of the beers had a soapy taste to them. Guest taps were affected too and did not taste as good as they do elsewhere. The SCBP appears to have a house taste in their own beers, meaning that they have similar flavors running through different styles of their beer.

Service: Excellent. Staff was attentive and friendly. There appeared to be only one waitress but she managed to take care of everyone and did a good job.

Food: The menu is short and items are moderately priced. This is not a bad thing if the food is good. The hamburgers are very good and they are served with chips. Salad and pretzels were worth trying too. Sandwiches are pretty dry and  disappointing.

I am very excited about the turn around here. In the last few months, ownership has been turned over to their next door neighbors, By the Bottle. I have patroned the restaurant with the old owners and won't lie that most of what was written was true. We have eaten there twice since the change, and let me say the change was needed. I've had the Couvano, a delicious ham and pulled pork sandwich, with cheese (swiss I think?) a great dijon and pickle. My companions had an apetizer of salami and marinated onion (the salami is something you will crave for days after). My husband got the hamburger and he said that he was happy the patties were fresh and not frozen. The beers and iced tea were delicious and the inside is nice and clean now. I'm excited to see their outdoor area is still available and makes for a great evening. The only negative thing I would says is they are short staffed which slows service. However the waitress was very friendly and makes excellent recommendations on beer.
I CAN'T BELIEVE I ALMOST FORGOT ABOUT THE BLUE CHEESE DRESSING!!! Rumor has it the blue cheese dressing is home made. Oh my heavens it is delicious!!! Dipping, dressing - whatever, it is so yummy and tasty.

Dark wood and plenty of windows. Great service--very attentive and fairly knowledgeable, Have about 8 of their own brews and a wide-ranging 6-7 guest taps. Had 3 of their beers with one excellent  one very good & one okay.
Food pretty normal pub-grub (burnt fries) but we didn't sample their higher end dishes . $3 pints at happy hour is a fine deal. Helping to restore downtown 'Couve.

I visited there while waiting for friends to join me.  Little did I know they had already arrived and left due to the disgusting beer and nasty food.  So while I "waited" for them I fell into the trap....  1 beer ordered and a plate of tots.  Sad sad sad mistake.  I don't give a 1 star rating lightly.  The beer was horrible, I only took a few sips and couldn't stand it.  The food was nasty, greasy, old, smelled weird and tasted worse.

I quickly paid and left... with a mostly filled beer and plate of tots sitting on the table.  The decor is horrible, service was OK, AVOID the food and beer.  So disgusting.... SO TRULY DISGUSTING......

I'm really unsure as to why I'm giving this place a two-star review.  Maybe I feel sorry for it?  Maybe I feel guilty giving a brewpub a low rating when I don't drink beer.  If this place was a deli or a Diet Pepsi house, I'd probably give it a one-star rating.  So, you get my point, yes?  I'm not sure I do anymore.  Basically, there is no chance I would ever go back to this place, but if you love beer, maybe theirs is good.

    So . . . here goes . . .

When we came in and went to sit down, I looked at my chair and decided to swap it out with the one next to it since it was so disgusting.  The one next to it was worse.

They have some beers on tap, but no soft drinks.  So, a can of Diet Pepsi for me.  This isn't a huge complaint, but why not make your customers that are there with the beer drinkers happy, too?  Does it really cost that much more?

I saw the stuffed tots on their happy hour menu and since they sounded better than anything on the regular menu, I decided to ask for them instead of fries with the sandwich I ordered.  I realized there would be an extra charge.  It wasn't happy hour anymore, but I was hoping to order them anyway.  I thought that there might be a possibility that they didn't make them after happy hour and I was ready for that.  I wasn't ready for "there isn't a button in the computer for that."  That is my second-most hated thing at a restaurant.  Make it work.  That's your job, make customers happy (to a limit, of course, but this is nowhere near that limit).  Had I even been offered a $1 discount for not getting fries, I would have been happy.  Instead, I just ordered the chips.  Bad mistake.

The food comes out and it's borderline awful.  We never could decide if the bread was stale or just not toasted right, but it wasn't good.  They brought out ketchup and mustard.  That was the only thing that made the food edible.  It needed something that tasted good to go with it.  The chips were really pretty bad, too.

To top it all off, I paid with my American Express card because the receipt holder said "American Express" on the front.  Was I wrong to think that meant they took the card?  Apparently I was.  I was told they didn't take it.  What??  Apparently there is supposed to be a sticker over that logo.  Special.  I won't start on what is wrong with a business not taking American Express (basically, it's cheaper than some Visa or MasterCard transactions).

All around, it wasn't a good experience.  I've had worse, but only a handful of times.

With the spat of recent poor reviews, I was hoping to offer a more positive light.

Unfortunately, everything seemed just a bit off.
Halibut fish and chips kinda fell apart into an oily glop.
Brother Larry's Belgian Dubbel didn't stick with me,
In her home brewed rootbeer, My coworker got some debris that was "from the line." and little was offered to resolve.

The menus had a sticky texture.

The air smelled fishy like bacterial vaginosis!

One of the clientele was wearing a camouflage baseball cap, and generally I don't care, but looking at it really added to my frustration that night.

We really had a good meal here!
A burger with chips, plus a couple of the happy hour appetizers. The HUGE happy hour appetizers!
For your $3 those happy hour snacks are each a big plate of onion rings (a platter!) or mixed veggies, or whatever you get. HUGE!

That said, it was a really good meal, with some really good beers (Thunderbolt porter for the win!) and they were happy to let us taste them! Even the non-alcoholic drinks are tasty, try the Cherry Lemonade!

We'll be back; we liked the beers so much we bought into their Prepaid Growler program! 5 Growlers for the price of 4, AND you get a free growler jug!

So I had bought a groupon for here and when I bought it I assumed it was actually for another place - call it a blonde moment!!

I was baffled when I went to sit outside and was told that the one of the tables was reserved for people with DOGS. Seriously, that is rediculous. That table sat empty all dinner and people inquiring about it actually walked away...which was good for them.

The service was barely tolerable and the food mediocre. I will not return.

Attempted to use a Groupon I had purchased but it was closed on Sunday. Well, still had one more day left before it expired but, wait, they're closed on Monday also. Called on Tuesday to see if they would do anything and the person I spoke with said Groupon set the date and they couldn't do anything. Hmmm. Sent a request to Groupon since they told me Groupon set the expiration date and promptly received a reply informing me they were required to at least credit the amount I paid for the Groupon. Haven't tasted their food and it has been awhile since I tasted their beer. Maybe they're good. I certainly won't be finding out. The Bottle Shop next door to this place will get my money instead.

Underwhelmed. In their defense it was after 9 pm a few days before the groupon expired. Burger, bacon, house-made potato chips and onion rings were a tad overcooked (overly crispy/brittle),  bun overtoasted... Part if the reason for bun over toasting was that it seemed to be a lower quality white breadish bun.

Service was okay, server felt inclined to share that she was tired and spent from being extra busy with lots of folks cashing in their groupons right before they expire.

As for the beer, I tried their ESB and it was okay... was smooth with a mild bite but a maybe a bit flat for my tastes.

At their price points I expected better, thankfully the groupon helped ease the cost for the meal and drink.

Lots of good looking dishes and ideas on their menu but during this particular visit of mine they didn't appear to deliver to my expectations...I'll give them another try earlier in the day, but not without another groupon/livingsocial/googleoffer coupon.

Well this was our second visit in a few years, I cant remember the first time so it obviously didnt make a good impression.  Here we go.  The beer wasnt as cold has it could have been.  Ordered an order of their cripsy onion rings and they were far from crispy, the breading was soggy.  Gross.

Thier menu only consists of a few items, so we both had the club sandwich, how can you screw up a club sandwich?  Let me tell you....low quality of meats.  The french fries soggy and under cooked.  We wont ever be returning.  Sorry for the negative feedback.

I'm really bummed.  I've been going to SCBP off and on for over 4 years and safe to say that I will never go there again.  The beer is still good, mind you, but the food is terrible.  Worse than terrible.  My mom came in from out of town and by the time we left I was literally embarrassed for even having chosen the restaurant.  Mom ordered the 12 oz New York steak "special" and not only was it cooked wrong, but the meat was ALL fat and gristle.  Seriously, you wouldn't buy that cut of meat if it was clearanced at Safeway it was so bad.  It looked like something you'd expect at Shari's Restaurant chain.  Make matters worse, the green beans that came with it were straight out of a freezer bag.  Sorry to say, as much as I love Ana and Larry and wish to support local businesses, this was it for me.  I must have apologized 5x to my mom for such a horrible dinner.  She said it was the worst steak she has EVER had.  And get this... I took the remainder home for my dogs (considering Mom only ate about 5 bites) and even one of my dogs barfed up the steak.  Unbelievable.

Menu was standard bar fare, not something that I'd want to find at a brewery in the Portland Metro Area.  The entire menu seemed to have nothing but fried foods on it.  The cod fish and chips were bland, my spouse had the burger, which was bland; the only saving grace was my daughter's peanut butter and jelly sandwich that came with fries and apples (wish the fries were left off).  The beer wasn't very good either; I had the ESB (again, bland) and spouse has the stout (tasted like drinking burnt espresso).  The outside courtyard was nice, but when the sun is the only thing warming the air, it can get cool in the shade.  Definitely won't be coming back.

Used our groupon to visit for the first time.  Probably the last time.  If the slight, older woman is the owner, she could take some lessons from her serving staff on how to greet customers.  She doesn't belong in the hospitality business.  Our server was very nice.  The corned beef and cabbage I ordered was served on a warmish plate and the food was warm, not hot and it lacked flavor.  While this is a dish that is cooked for quite a while, this one was that and then some.  My partner's dish was a hamburger and fries which were okay, although he prefers a Wendy's to this.  The prices seemed too high for the quality and quantity.

What would make us come back?  Threat of death.

I had the Brother Larry's Belgian Dubbel, smooth with a hint of hop.  The food was good too.  I judge a place on it's Reuben and there's was great. A bit dry and therefore easier to eat.  The meat was tender and flavorful and there was a good portion of it,the bread was lightly spread with the dressing.  The jalepeno and cheddar stuffed tots were delish also!  A bit expensive for regular dining but pretty comparable for that quality of handcrafted beer.

After reading some iffy reviews about this place, I was ready to be underwhelmed, but still eager to try it.

My friend had boughten a Groupon or LS coupon and we headed over one night for dinner on a weekday.  The place was mildly buzzing with patrons, but not evercrowded or packed.  We got seated immediately by the very friendly bartender who doubled as our waiter for the evening.  I was pretty excited for a good beer, and am a huge fan of Stouts, so I tried the house-made Oatmeal Stout, which turned out to be one of the better ones I've had in quite a while.

We started our meal with a half order of the Beer Battered Mushrooms.  I had become addicted to these when I lived in MT and have rarely found anywhere locally that offers them, so I was pretty excited to have them back in my life.  I was very surprised by the portion sizes as well.  After asking for the half order, we were brought a plate with close to a dozen huge steaming hot mushrooms.  It was double what I had expected but there were no complaints as we both tore into them before they were officially a safe temperature to eat, and they were gone within minutes.

We had just finished praising ourselves for ordering salads as our main course instead of huge entrees when they brought them out and I had to eat my words; they were bloody enormous.  I ordered the Chef Salad which was piled high with turkey, ham, cheddar, swiss, hard-boiled eggs, tomatoes and red onion, and my friends was enormous as well and covered in assorted vegetables and hard-boiled eggs.  It was like they had literally taken the large serving dishes for a family-style order of salad and served them as a one person dish.

It's safe to say we couldn't finish.

The food was great, the beer was top notch, and the service was superb.  I'll be back again to have a tryst with the mushrooms and enjoy another go at the beer selection.

Well, If you had asked me to give a review a year ago regarding S.C.B.P.  - I would have gladly given it four stars.  Sadly, one of Vancouver's little gems seems to be getting quite blemished.

On a much anticipated night out with my wife, we decided to go and get a good bite to eat at the SCBP in Vancouver and then hit an art gallery there after.  Cutting to the quick - the food we ordered was beef stroganhoff (simmered strips of rib eye steak was described on the menu).  About an hour later, feeling quite buzzed from the two and half Belgian Golden Ales, our B. Stroganhoff was cold, and without any sight of meat (Where's the Beef?).  After one bite, my wife and I decided to return the food and order something else - she wanted a grilled chicken salad, and I the sausage/sour-krout special for the night.  Another 45 minutes have passed and now we are thinking that maybe this was a big mistake.  After two and half hours of drinking, chatting with fellow patrons, and waiting for our food, we concluded that until the service staff get's their butts in gear and that the food actually is as described on the menu, we probably aren't coming back.  This is especially sad for me as I really looked forward to the juicy steak we experienced last year.  And, yeah, I know it's a Brew Pub, but I really had in mind a nice vodka martini with the steak dinner we were aspiring to get.  Not having alcohol spirits available coupled with the extremely poor service only confirms my not returning any time soon to the Salmon Creek Brewery & Pub.  I have not given up though, and sincerely hope the the owner will make some appropriate changes needed to re-earn our business back.

Very disappointed. Prices on food were out of line, and service was marred by having to wait almost an hour for our food, without be warned until much later -  by other diners that the restaurant had earlier been slammed by Groupon customers. I was shocked that our waiter would not warn us that there would be a huge delay, even though there was no line of folks to be seated or more than a trickle of people who arrived after we did.

Our waiter was cordial but only another waitress was later very personable towards us and explained the Groupon situation and how crushed they had been earlier, and apologized. Another woman - apparently one of the owners - was out and about on the floor. We spoke with her briefly, but she was oblivious....!

The beer was all right, but the food and service was very disappointing. We walked in about 7:00 and it was mostly full, but not packed. We found seats at the bar.

The bartender was our server and seemed a bit distracted. After taking our beer and food order, he was hard to track down for our second beer. After 45 minutes since we had ordered, other customers informed us that they had been waiting about an hour and that it was probably because of the Groupon Coupon, of which we were unaware, or we would have either steeled ourselves and participated, or avoided the place like the plague. We decided at that point that we were not going to keep waiting and looked for our server. Could not find him and was able to speak to another server about the wait and she told us that it had been terrible for wait times all week, since the Groupon started. We were surprised that no one would warn us about that, not even the owner who had said hello to us and was hovering about the dining room. After about an hour, a very sad, small portioned plate of clam strip appetizer showed up. The fish was all right, the fries were not hot and limp and the coleslaw was about an 1/8 cup portion. The green salad was a head of very limp, very underwhelming leaf lettuce that had been roughly cut and topped with an obviously commercially pre-boiled egg that was probably boiled and treated with some sort of chemical preservative in a factory several states away...$40 worth of food and I went home hungry!  How can this place compete? We won't be back anytime soon.

Wow. This is sad. I'm a long-time supporter of SCB, and I'm amazed they've let themselves go this far downhill - beer, food, prices, building, everything. I will not be coming back.

$20 for 6 small deep fried shrimp (not prawns) and chips? Big disappointment. I had two IPAs during happy hour, but was charged two different prices, and to top it off, at the table next to us a couple was charged $3 for a dixie cup of olives for their baby.

I don't see them in business much longer, and I've always wished Larry and Ana the best, but its time for something new. This property has more potential than they're able to actualize.

Bad Belgian beers (no American style beers) and the food is more deep fried than any hole in the wall dive bar.

Fun neighborhood brew pub going through so growing pains. My wife and I enjoy occasional date nights here and like the atmosphere.  The last visit we noticed some definite problems with the beer. They have recently started to sell their beer at other establishments and it seems to have effected their quality control. Time to spend more time paying attention to the brewing process as they're making rookie mistakes.

I just got home from my first time here.

I admit I only had a salad for dinner, hard to mess up right?  But there was about a metric ton of meat and cheese....mmm.

The stout, red, and IPA were very good.  I think the stout was the best of the 3 I had.  I also tasted the Belgian ale which was sweet and delicious.  As good as imports I've paid big bucks for!

The service is what really impressed me.  I was there by myself to have dinner and a couple of beers.  The server Suzanne was really knowledgeable and  friendly and even led me to the brewroom where I got to chat with the Brewmaster.  I was very impressed by their openness to customers.  It's always cool to meet the person who made what you're holding in your hand.

    Very forgettable... don't even bother.

The girlfriend and I have always enjoyed trying new places around the Portland area. We've tried just about every brewery in the metro area over the last few years so I was very surprised when my girlfriend suggested we try this place and I had never heard of it....

So we went in last  Friday night and was greeted by an overly friendly server which of course isnt a bad thing but my first impression of the bar was that it had a "cheap" feeling. We looked at the menu and was thoroughly uninspired and the prices seemed overpriced for bar food. We ended up just ordering the chicken wings, nachos and the beer sampler.

We started trying the different beers (I usually go for the IPA's and the girlfriend likes the dark porters and stouts) but besides the fact the beer was flat and warm...  we thought they all tasted the same! There was really no discernible difference between them... all crap.

The food was even worse, the chicken wings were an utter joke for 9 bucks. Girlfriend commented that her pinky was bigger than the wings.
The nachos weren't very good either, the menu said they had chili on them, it was more like a little bit of hamburg. Needless to say we didn't finish everything and left as soon as we could.

So don't even bother crossing the bridge to check out this place, or if you're from the Couv, spend the 5 minutes to go to Portland for some real beer and grub.

    In one word: HORRIBLE

I've never in my life had such poor quality beer or pouring. I went in with my girlfriend thinking we'd hit the jackpot and found another local brewpub to visit. We ordered 2 pints of beer. The first one showed up within just a couple of minutes, almost no flavor to it. Then as several minutes go by the waiter informed me that my beer was all foam and he was waiting for it to settle. When he finally brought me my beer it was totally flat. I was shocked that beer would be served like this. Needless to say we didn't order anything else, even though we were very hungry. We took a few sips of the so-called beer and left after paying. Never again will I return.

If you want real beer, go anywhere else.

UPDATE: Just a couple of doors down is By The Bottle. Go there, you will not regret it.

Came here for lunch a few weeks ago and I was thoroughly disappointed. Not only was the food bad, but the beer was utterly awful as well. I'm all about smooth brown ales, to amber ales, to dark lagers, and each Salmon Creek Beer (IPA, Irish Red, Scottish Ale) had a bitter sourness which in my experience is a distinct characteristic of beer gone bad.

On to the food-I had the prime rib dip and it was all kinds of terrible. The bread was borderline stale, chewy, not warm nor toasted. The meat was meh. Dry and a bit chewy, definitely not prime rib, more like thinly sliced overcooked ghetto steak.

My brother had the Cuban sandwich and while it was better than my disaster, it was still not good.

Would I go again? Hell no. Would I recommend it? Nope. Why this place is open? No idea.

With more than 5 great reviews preceding my own, I've struggled to find one good thing about this place and I must say the place itself has personality. Also I really got a kick out of all the beer related jokes in the bathroom. That's all I liked about the place. Is that not sad?

The staff here was very cool.  I spoke with the bartender for about an hour before splitting, but she was very cool.  Her boyfriend/husband was cool, too.  They recommended some other places to try and gave me a history lesson on Vancouver as well.

I had a sample of their Porter and their Stout.  I'm a Stout guy by default, but I couldn't get over the fact that their Porter was significantly better than the Stout.  Very smooth and considerably lighter than the stout. The Stout was slightly bitter than the Porter.

Some girl outside of the bar tried to "holla" at me from her car.  That was awkward, being that it was the only car on the block.  I left Salmon Creek at roughly 9:30pm and the area was pretty much a ghost town.  Weird.

Yay craft beers!  There's a nice selection here... I tried their IPA- very hoppy, but great... I was feeling it after one.

Typical bar food, a tad greasy, but still tasty. There's also a full dinner menu to have a look at.  I had salmon fish and chips and enjoyed it.  Portion sizes are huge though.

It's a cool mom and pop joint.  Cozy, clean, and fun.  The waiter was spot on.

    Happy Hour M-F: 3-6 S-S: 4-6 when a pint will cost you $3.25.
