The reviews for this place are a bit harsh. It is what it is...a place willing to deliver pizza to you at 4am. If you're tipsy and starving and too lazy to head to Walgreens for a frozen pizza, this is for you! Delivery took about an hour, but arrived exactly within the estimated time. Pizza seemed reheated, but was otherwise decent. I wouldn't go for anything fancy here...stick with the basics.
Review Source:Confession Time: I'm in a food relationship with the BLT pizza.
BLT pizza, you say? Â Why, yes, Yelpers, BLT pizza. Â The sauce is some kind of creamy mayo (but sparse, so don't fear the mayo overload) that's topped with cheese and bacon. Â It's then baked. Â Then it's topped with a liberal helping of shredded romaine and diced tomatoes. Â
It is the bomb. Â In a completely dirty, white trash kind of way. Â
Just try it. Â I promise you'll love it.
Double bonus: Sarpino's opens at 9:30am. Â You may be thinking, like, "Who orders a pizza at 9:30 in the morning?" but I'll tell you this: When you wake up on a Sunday morning totally hung over and you have nothing to eat in your apartment and you sure as hell aren't getting dressed or brushing your hair to pull it together for brunch, Sarpino's is a god send.
So Sarpino's attempted to deliver a pizza to my friend's apartment but we totally forgot and fell asleep. We called back the next day just to see if we could get anything and they delivered the pizza the next day free of charge! The manager was awesome and so polite about it! Great customer service too!
Review Source:I haven't had their pizza yet, just their breadsticks. Â They are good and tasty and a late night guilty pleasure. Â Every time I order delivery from here, it takes over an hour! Â I only put up with it because they are one of the very few places that deliver late in my area. Â Once, I visited the location, hoping it would be faster. Â It wasn't. Â I don't want to critique the employees, because I'm sure their job sucks and they get paid next to nothing. Â If you order delivery, please tip them well despite what you think of the food!
Review Source:My husband loves their steak pizza so we usually order from here if we have a taste for pizza. This last time may be THE last time we order from here. We called in an order at 830 and got a text message 20 minutes later that it was out for delivery. Still no pizza at 9:30 so I called to check up on it. The girl who answered the phone didn't even ask what the address was and told me it'll be here in another 10 to 15 minutes because they left already and have been on their way....the driver may have ours last on his list of runs We found this unusual because it never took this long before.
So no pizza after another 20 minutes.....I called back. This time she had more attitude in her tone and asked for an address when I insisted on checking on the status. She then told me it left 10 minutes ago!!! What?!?!?! With my last call you told me that it has been on it's way. If the 10 minute thing was true then my pizza didn't leave until 10 minutes AFTER my follow up call!!! She assured me it'll arrive within 10 minutes. Â I asked her what happens if it doesn't arrive in the promised time AGAIN.. She replied. Then you can call back and cancel the order....NO APOLOGY at ALL!!!
15 minutes later NO PIZZA....I called and asked to speak to a manager because at this point it's been over 1.5 hours!! Guess what the manager tells me at 10:03pm? The driver got locked out of his car and can't get the pizza delivered. Â WHY wasn't I told this in the first place?? Â The manager promised to REMAKE my order and send it out immediately. Â The pizza was at our door at 10:13pm and COLD. I don't know what oven they use where they can make the pizza, deliver it, and it be completely cooled in 10 minutes!!!! Â So after waiting for nearly 2 HOURS to get our order.....it finally arrives cold!! Thanks for lying to us, you'd think the manager would be a LITTLE better than the stupid bimbo answering phones. Only thing the manager did was give the pizzas to us free of charge.....then again, who else would want the cold pizzas?
We decided not to call back and complain because we don't want spit or other bodily fluids added to our pizzas.
Sarpinos isnt terrible quality, pretty average for your chain delivery pizza. Â I ordered tonight and am going on 1 hour and 50 minutes with no delivery. Â I called the store and first was told the pizza hadnt left for delivery when I was originally told that it had. Â Then someone else told me it really had left at that time. Â When I complained that my food order had left the store an hour ago and I still hadnt received delivery, I essentially got a verbal shoulder shrug and was told that they were busy. Â Never again. Â Their food is not good enough to put up that kind of lousy service.
Review Source:Tried this place for the first... and LAST time tonight. Our apartment building handed out menus/flyers and so my roommate and I thought we'd give it a try. The prices were the same as any of your typical dominos/papa johns/ chicago's pizza, only they offer free delivery (which seemed like a nice perk BEFORE ordering).
We ordered a simple cheese pizza, thin crust, with "heavy" sauce and Parmesan cheese on the side. We were charged $1.50 for the Parmesan which usually is free at pizza places, but since delivery was free it's no big deal. UNTIL the driver gets here with "NO change" which meant he earned a $5.50 tip on a $10 pizza... NOT COOL. Especially when we realized we DID NOT get the Parmesan cheese we paid extra for, AND to boot, we received an email saying the pizza was on it's way to us and it arrived 35 MINUTES later (we live .9 miles away from Sarpinos... aka a 5 minute MAX cab ride).
Not only were we ripped off from the driver with no change and who didn't give us our full order, but when we opened the pizza it was cold (probably from the 35 minutes of delivery time) and it had BARELY any sauce at all... our receipt clearly says "heavy sauce" and literally some pieces had no trace of sauce... and the crust is so thin it was basically like eating baked cheese.
Cold Pizza... wrong order (no Parmesan, and barely any sauce when we ordered extra)... and a driver without singles/change who ripped us off = NEVER recommending this place again or ordering it again. Sorry don't mean to be harsh, but I've worked at a pizza place when I was young and it's not that hard to follow directions such as adding extra sauce or making sure to bring change with you when delivering pizza... clearly we would have been better off walking in the rain to get dinner anywhere else in Chicago.
We ordered three medium pizzas from here last night, and it came up to only 22 bucks. And it tasted amazing. And it only took 20 minutes to get here. It was pretty legit pizza, fast delivery, and a good price for a college kids budget. :D Cheap, yummy pizza? This is the place for you.
Review Source:Good pizza if you need it bad. It use to be better tasting last year.
I do like the taste of the pizza but each time the flavor changes.
They do have late night hours and a few specials if you are on a budget as
many of us are. I suggest telling them how you want it cooked if they do not get it right the first time. I have done that and It does help.
Gonna make this short and sweet. Pizza quality is good for what they are. They can never get my G-D address correct. The two times I have ordered from them it has taken them an hour and a half to get to me. Let me clear where I live from this location: it is 2.2 miles according to Google Maps. I am just curious where they are bringing the pizza in from? I could order pizza from a place in Aurora at 5pm in rush hour on a Friday and it would have arrived at approximately the same time. 2.2 miles=1.5 hours by Sarpinos Pizza time.
The pizza is NOT that good.
There was a time when I loved Sarpino's. Â Late night parties in the NW suburbs, years ago. Â I could always count on seeing a bunch of European guys and two HOT European ladies working any of their many locations. Â Same thing here. Â Except there was only one HOT European gal working the phones, she is an uber cutie by the way. Â But I digress.
Couple nights back I was meeting a friend in the South Loop and not one Papa John's was open late night. Â DAMN! Â So, note that Sarpino's is open later than the rest on Sunday nights. Â Long story short, we didn't love the pizza. Â It was okay but it tasted and felt (in hand) like something microwaved. Â It didn't have any kind of firm or crispy texture to the crust. Â Also, I don't know, the flavors weren't working for me. Â We got a pizza, wings and cheesy bread sticks. Â The cheesy bread sticks were the best item. Â Â
A little less than sixteen dollars for mediocre fast food pizza. Â Meh.
While Sarpino's is certainly not my favorite pizza-it is pretty cheap and usually always has specials going on.
Today my friend and I ordered an all Canadian ham, half-onion, half-pineapple large pizza. The total came out to about $13 which is pretty good considering at other places it would be about over $20.
Sarpino's offers very easy online ordering and has specials right on their website, plus you can pay online with a credit card.
While the pizza is probably top knotch-its good cheap pizza for late nights or big parties.
So one day I was hungry, lazy, and wanted pizza. I had two options. I could have ordered Sarpinos again from the comfort of my own couch online and have them deliver to my house in less than an hour. Or I could have gotten my lazy ass off the couch, got in my car, drive 20 minutes to Dominos, waited 20 minutes for my pizza to cook, drove 20 minutes back home and got comfortable again.
I drove to Dominos.
This place is not awesome in any way although delivery time late night was impressive.
If you're visiting Chicago and want that crust that's "Chicago Pizza", then don't order here. This is not the place for that. In fact, if you're from anywhere that has Papa John's or Domino's Pizza, rest easy knowing you'll get something good when you get home. This place barely makes the passing grade for pizza. I mean it's hot. It's got cheese on it. On mine, there were slices of sausage and some mushrooms.
But I was really hungry and ate it for that reason alone. I'd never order from here even if I was starving. I'll go buy a microwave pizza and heat it up in the hotel lobby. Seriously.
Oh, and this experience (for a medium) cost $17 and change (+ tip).
Goodnight. Oh, not I have a flight in 4 hours...nevermind.
I totally understand the mixed reviews for Sarpino's, and I think it comes down to people misunderstanding the restaurant and ordering the wrong thing.
This is a place for cheap and greasy pizza. It's deliciousness increases exponentially based on time of day, level of hunger, and number of drinks consumed. Don't be fooled by the gourmet/specialty pizzas. You should be as suspicious of them as you should be of sushi at a fast food restaurant. I once had the Spinach Special; it was quite possibly the worst thing I ever ate, and I didn't order from them again for a year.
But once my memories had sufficiently faded enough that I forgot Sarpino's was where I got the bad pizza, I ordered from them again. Pepperoni pizza with the jalepeno ranch dipping sauce. SO GOOD! By following a self-created rule not to order any toppings that I wouldn't be able to get at a Pizza Hut, I've been satisfied every time.
I have also had really good experience with their delivery. Once it was quite late and my husband and I were equal parts starving and tired and could not decide between sleep and food. So we called Sarpino's and said we would take a pepperoni pizza if they could get it to us in 20 minutes. And they did! We were stuffed and asleep within 30 minutes - the best of both worlds.
I'm not much of a Junk Food Judy but when I have a craving for pizza, this is our go-to place. Fast, convenient, reasonably priced and super tasty. Â Tons of pizza options, from traditional to gourmet. I love the cheesy bread and the hubs never stops raving about the hot wings. You can save 20% when you order online and after saving 10 receipts you can get any item free off the menu. Love the pizza here!
Review Source:I like Sarpinos - but I'll stick to the one on Archer. This particular Sarpino's on Lake needs to get their act together. Here's why - they ...
1. Took WAY too long to deliver. WAY too long.
2. Were inaccessible. When we called to check the status of our order (several times) they simply did not answer the phone.
3. Got the order wrong. When they finally showed-up, it wasn't even our food. The name on the order they delivered wasn't even ours.
4. Are comedians. I told the delivery guy that it wasn't our food/name and he insisted that it was. Then said that it wasn't his fault and left. What??!
What just happened?! Sheesh.
Picture: A Saturday night in Chicago, after 10 pm, you're craving a hearty meal after a hard day of moving, but you're not about to go out again. I couldn't have found my pants even if I wanted to leave the house.
I still think the loop area lacks in late night delivery variety, especially on the weekends, but we're slowly finding good options.
Sarpino's is definitely a good choice.
Sarpino's always come up as a high choice on grubhub (due to their proximity and our frequent orders of salads, pizza and pasta). And they don't disappoint.
Free delivery.
No minimum order for delivery.
Always on time (usually 2 -3 minutes prior to their estimated delivery time).
Friendly delivery guys (who totally don't laugh at you when you answer the door in well-loved (i.e. worn out) t-shirts, bleach & paint-stained boxers, and your hair doing the best imitation of a troll doll).
Usual order:
Caesar salad
Campari salad
Meatballs
Cheese Tortellini w/ meat sauce
Tiramisu
And everything is well liked in this household.
Caesar salad is....well a caesar salad. You have to work pretty hard to screw it up.
Campari salad. Let's see, I love mozzarella cheese, big juicy tomatoes, a good dressing and onions, lots of onions. Which describes the campari salad. I actually prefer the big thick cuts of tomatoes that Sarpino's serves up, versus the super thin slices many restaurants put in their campari salad. It turns a light salad into a hearty plate.
The meatballs are yummy. I would love to see them kicked up a notch, a little spicy. But I suppose not everyone likes their meatballs that way, and one must cater to the masses.
The first time i ordered the cheese tortellini I said "holy excess cheese batman!". Then remembered it's a baked pasta dish. Which means, it's basically a convenient excuse to smother a load of cheesy pasta with more cheese. Which is -perfect- for a lactose intolerant cheese lover. No kidding....I shouldn't love it, I should run away from it, but I love cheese, so the more the merrier. The cheese tortellini is definitely a favorite, especially with the meat sauce.
And there are two sizes to choose from when it comes to the pasta dishes, small or large. Unless your feeding three people, you probably don't need the large. We can order salad and a small pasta dish and be good. For one person and the pasta dish, it means leftovers. I also always order the meatballs (because what's pasta w/o meatballs?), so the contributes to the overall size of the meal.
The breadsticks are basically an individual sized pizza round of dough, cooked up all crunchy-like. They're eh. But then, I got hooked on the OG's breadsticks, and all others pale in comparison. But that's just me.
The tiramisu is yummy in my tummy. Okay, it's not my favorite tiramisu, a little too cakey for me, not quite melt in your mouth. But it is still delicious, and I would never say no to a slice. It's also generously proportioned, which is not helping me fit into those skinny jeans. Sure I could just stop ordering pasta & desserts, but where's the fun in that?
Only real complaint is the excess packaging. Breadsticks are in their own thick cardboard box. Meatballs are in a to-go foil dish, that's in it's own thick cardboard box. Pasta is in a to-go foil dish, than in it's own thick cardboard box. Plus salads & dessert in plastic containers. That's a lot of recycling for one meal. I suppose the cardboard is meant to keep the meals warm during transit, but wouldn't an insulated delivery bag do the same? It just seems like a lot of unnecessary packaging, and I cringe every time I see the remains littering my counter, waiting to fill up my recycling bin.
Overall, a great place to get a filling meal late at night.
If you have a choice between Dominos, Pizza Hut or some other chain and Sarpinos, you should always run with Sarpinos. The pizza is consistantly good, well made and fresh.
This location especially has super fast, ON TIME delivery. If they say 45min on a week night expect 30min and if they say 1hr on a weekend expect 50min to 1hr.
Make sure you order online if at all possible due to the large amount of specials offered. I always get the jalapeno ranch dipping sauce. It has a little bit of a kick and adds a really great extra flavor to the pizza.
I LOVE SARPINOS PIZZA!
I probably have pizza delievered once or twice (sometimes three times!) a week.
You can never go wrong with Sarpinos.
They have plenty of specials online including FREE DELIEVERY and UNLIMITED
TOPPINGS for a fixed price for different size pizzas!
Not sure about any other Sarpinos as I am aware they are a franchise but the Sarpinos on Lake has SPEEDY DELIEVERY and they are never stingy with their toppings. :)
As I am writing this review, I have my Sarpinos waiting for me on my kitchen counter. Â It is now time to wrap up my review and enjoy my pizza. :)
I am thinking that the only time I am going to go here and order pizza is when it is 2:00 am during the week and all of the places that I normally frequent are closed.
The pizza is OK, but like I said when everything else is closed, it will do the trick. I ordered a large mushroom and sausage pizza and the bill only came to $13.36. Hmmmm... the menu said $20???? Hmmmmm... I was afraid that I was not going to get what I ordered, but it looks like it was an error in my favor. Hooray for me. If I did have to pay over $20 for one of these pizzas, I don't think that I would order from here again.
When i returned with the pizza, we received a phone call asking if we were going to pick up our pizza? Huh? What? I am eating a slice right now? Anyway, I will not become a regular here by any means, but it is nice to know that they are open late to satisfy my pizza cravings if needed.
A friend of a friend recommended Sarpinos, saying it wasn't quite deep dish but not quite thin-crust. She said it was unique and amazing.
It was unique, but that's about it.
When I pay $22 for a 14" pizza and two cans of soda, that pizza had better blow me away. Instead, it was dry, flavorless and barely 14".
In a city loaded with amazing pizza, this place shouldn't be in business.
Sarpino's makes online ordering so easy. Â They let you make 1/2 and 1/2 pizzas and there are specials and a 10% off coupon for online ordering. Â Also, they have options for lightly baked or well-done pizzas, and some other options I skipped.
Sarpino's pizza is for carb-friendly people. Â The crust is a thick, chewy pan crust.
I ordered: (1) spinach special, well done with creamy garlic dipping sauce; and (2) pesto lover's with marinara dipping sauce.
I actually liked both of the dipping sauces I picked, but I will probably get marinara only next time. Â The creamy garlic sauce seems to be a a garlic aioli, which would be great with fries, but is a little much with pizza. Â Also, you kind of need the marinara for both of these pizzas.
The spinach special has feta in it, but I couldn't even taste it. Â Maybe next time I'll order extra feta and see what happens. Â The pesto lover's has no basil pesto flavor, and the sauce was spread so thinly on the crust that it was a pale green. Â :( Â Also, there was very little chicken on the pesto pizza. Â I think both pizzas could have used more salt in the toppings. Â But perhaps that is what the dipping sauces were for. Â The cheese is pretty thick, and cooked to a bubbly brown, which I like.
There wasn't a big difference between the well-done and the regular baked pizza. Â The well-done was a little browner, but it tasted about the same. Â Because the pizzas were delivered in a thermal delivery bag, they kind of steamed in the box, so weren't really crispy on the outside. Â I'm sure carry-out would have been better.
I would order from here again. Â I had Pie Guys' delivery last week at a friend's place and the thin crust was like cardboard. Â Sarpino's at least has a crust that I am willing to work off at the gym.
If I had not ordered Wings from Sarpino's, I would have given them five stars. I think their pizza is THAT good.
It reminds me of a college pizzeria we used to order from. It's not Chicago Style, and it's not NY style, it's like some happy medium.
The crust is both crispy and chewy. It's sweet like they took their time with the dough and let the yeast proof completely. These are the little details that good pizza joints get correct.
I ordered a Hawaiian pizza, because sometimes it's fun to eat like a 12 year old. The ham was delicious, the pineapple was delicious, the sauce was delicious. The pizza was fantastic. If you live within their delivery area I can NOT recommend them highly enough.
Don't order the Wings. They are fatty and not spicy. It was kind of a downer and turned a reasonably priced pizza into an expensive venture.
One of the cool things about Sarpino's, speaking of price - is that there is free delivery! It's ridiculous in this economy to charge $3 for a delivery fee, and then ANOTHER $3 tip, and then $2 tax. For $20 at Sarpino's you can get their largest pizza (16" I believe), and you're good to go.
This little pizza place on Lake St. is best for delivery. Â And they do that WELL. Â We wait maybe 35 minutes before they're ringing our doorbell. Â I love the NewYork Deli pizza. Â The crust is great, the sauce a little sweet, and the delivery quick. You also save like 15% if you on-line order. Â I recommend this place for Loop/ West Loop pizza delivery. Â Skip their calzones though- they weren't good.
The place is so tiny- I don't think they have inside seating.
I'm kind of a pizza weirdo and Sarpinos deals with my antics very gracefully. Â I really don't like tomato sauce on my pizzas and most places frown upon this preference, but not Sarpinos. Â They make my Hawaiian pizza vegetarian and with no sauce. Â Just the way I like it. Â
A big plus is that you can order online, which makes requesting 4 different sauces much easier. Â They're also really speedy with deliveries. Â Gotta love it!
Super fast, open late, free delivery. Sarpino's is what it is--my expectations were mediocre and they were met.
I am not a huge fan of the crust on their pizza, but their cheesy breadsticks with marinara sauce are my late night snack of choice. They are the closest thing to Gumby's Pokey Stix (on some college campuses) that I have been able to find in Chicago.
One gripe: their online ordering system is really easy to use, but when I try to checkout, it says that my address is out of their delivery radius. Which is, of course, not the case because they always deliver to me. Kind of annoying but I guess I can make contact with a real human being if the result is 2am cheesy bread sticks...
I opted to Dine-In at Sarpinos because I was starved and read they delivered food fast. Â The layout was better suited for a dry cleaners than a pizza parlor. Â It took the staff over five minutes to recognize my presence and when they did the guy who took my order was puzzled when I asked if there was a regional influence for pizzas. Â He stated that there was a "Greek" influence to their pizzas which was intriguing to me because I wasn't aware that Pizza was a Greek specialty. Â After hearing this I should have ordered the Greek Pizza but I took a chance and ordered a 10-inch Tuscany Pizza with a side order of cheesy bread for a grand total of $21.89 not including the cost of the soda!!!
At those prices for a thin crust pizza this better be good! Â The toppings tasted like they were canned and the cheese wasn't any better than Little Caesars. Â The crust had no consistency, very soft on the bottom and crispy on the sides.
If you visit their website http://www.sarpinos.com/… they do not list pricing on the menu. Perhaps they "forgot" to list their prices because they are outrageous. You can go to the Fulton Lounge and get a fantastic thin crust pie from Follia for the same price. Not only was the pricing outrageous but they misspelled TUSCANY with 2N's on their website!!! There are plenty of other options to choose from in the West Loop and this isn't one of them.
The only good thing I can say about the pizza is that it was delivered fast, and hot. Â I'll give 'em that.
After that...pretty bad pizza, especially for what I paid for. Â Don't do it. Â You're better off taking the bus to Dominicks, getting a couple of DiGiornos, and calling it a night.
Late.
Finding a good pizza delivery in the West Loop isn't an easy task. Yes, I could clog my ateries with pizza from other Chicago outposts. However, I like delivery (or a walk down the street) for just a regular pizza.
Once we discovered that Sarpino's opened, the bf and I were itching to try their pizza and menu. The menu is pretty extensive in a good way and had good offerings. I was pleased to that they have a veggie pizza unlike some of the other delivery places around us. I had a personal spinach/four cheese pizza and he had a meatball calzone after a recommendation. My pizza was delicious and tasty. The meatball sub was also great from what I heard. My bf put it best that the meal was good and surprisingly because it was an actual quality pizza joint around the corner. I recently tried one of the sandwiches and it was really good. I had a mediterran veggie sandwich on focaicca with a pesto sauce. It was hot, tasty, and hit the spot after walking home in the cold.
The service here is very fast and nice. Even ordering a sandwich at the counter only took five minutes and I had tasty Italian in no time. I'm definitely going to try more items on their menu and they have reasonable prices as well. It's definitely a nice addition to the West Loop area.
I was just thinking that I have yet to post a review for any my favorite pizza places. Don't get too excited, this isn't one of them. Â On my walk home from Ogilvy every evening I have been tracking the progress of a new pizza place called Sarpinos. Â Last week it opened and we decided to give it a whirl last night despite the fact that it looks like a corporate chain.
I called Sarpinos to order by Large Sausage pizza as I was leaving the grocery store and was told it would take 10 minutes. Sure enough 10 minutes later I arrived at Sarpinos and there sat my pizza. Â Point for Sarpinos. Â Much like a Papa Johns they offer a few types of dipping sauces for their pizzas. I am of the opinion that if you pizza doesn't taste like shit you need not offer sauces. Subtract 1 point from Sarpinos. Â This rule however does not apply to Monicals.
The pizza was hot. Point for Sarpinos. Â The sausage was that weird hot dog diameter type of Italian sausage that kind of weirds me out. Subtract 1 point from Sarpinos. Â I will note that the sausage tasted fine as far as weird hot dog diameter type of Italian sausage goes. Â The cheese was plentiful and ooooey gooooey. Point for Saripinos. Â The crust was a bit thick and buttery for my tastes. Subtract 1 point from Sarpinos. Â Overall the taste was good. Â Keep in mind it's not "Ohhhh.... I am really craving Sarpinos" good. Â But it's definitely "I'm hungry as hell and Sarpinos is around the corner" good.
Overall the pizza is good for what it is. Â I would order from Sarpinos before I would order from a Papa Johns or a Pizza Hut. Â The restaurant is very clean and the service was better than you'd expect from one of the monster chains mentioned above. Plus they are about 175 steps from my house and open late. Point for Sarpinos.

After further investigation it looks like Sarpinos has locations all over the world. Â So much for not being a monster chain. Â Subtract 1 point from Sarpinos. Â Sorry Sarpinos!
