Great time, one of the few situations in which I don't mind paying a cover.

Its a fairly large establishment, raised stage at the front with two pianos and a drum set. Your write your song requests on cocktail napkins and either throw them up on stage, or hand it to them with some cash. the more cash you give, the more attention they'll pay to your request. Bachelor party gave one the players $200 to stop playing a song and sing "Dixie"...at two different points in the evening.....I mean...whatever floats your boat I guess. But don't worry, $6 got them to play our song right away, so no need to shell out such large sums of money :) Good place for a drunken sing a long, anyhow.

Drinks are reasonably priced, but I might stick with beer, couple girls at the table said their mixed drinks weren't too good. The waitress was pretty rude, at one point we were trying to get her attention to order and she actually shoved a "give me a sec" finger at our table without even looking at us....we had been waiting for at least 15 mins to put another drink order in. Rude rude rude. She also brought us the wrong drinks a couple of times and never said excuse me after bumping into the ladies at the end of the table several times. This is the south y'all. Service matters.

Also they didn't know Dick in a box, which was disappointing, but they do have an impressive repertoire, and all in all, it can be a pretty entertaining evening.

Sloppy piano playing for groups of drunken tourists.  Not worth free admission, let alone the $5 cover.  Don't waste your time.

This place sucks.. the decor was cheap and country. It was empty on a friday night. All i seen were fat chicks dancing on stage to lousy music. Maybe the music wasn't my style..however, the piano music was awful because they couldn't sing. How anyone could give this place a good review is beyond me. lol i wouldn't recommend it

Located right above River Street, this place can be a lot of fun. The music is great and fun. I feel like it would be a good place for people to dance if there were just a little more room, however there's usually a little dancing going on regardless.

Full bar and a couple good taps, oh and there's always a Restroom Executive Assistant to wash your hands for you, tell you that you have something in your teeth, give you a mint and send you back to your date.  I think that's cool, but don't tip too much the first time if you plan on drinking a lot, otherwise the dude will expect that every time you take a leak.

This is the only place I know of in Savannah that charges a cover... and for what? The drinks are still high price... maybe to keep the hipsters out! I guess it's worth it haha.

I meant to give this 3 1/2 but it was unavailable. This place has a 5.00 cover so don't forget cash.

This place would have received 4 but the food menu is verly limited. However they do pour a strong drink. The music is average at best, but a fun environment.
Recommendations of Slow Songs will not be played, be sure to request fast ones. Also Journey will only be played once a night so be sure to wait till the end to hear it.

My wife and I were in Savannah for the weekend and a friend recommended this place. We had a great time. There were 2 sets of piano players and they did a good job of keeping the crowd going and making sure everyone had fun. There were 5 different bachelorette parties going on. Draft beers were $3 each, the waitress did a good job keeping them and the Cuervo flowing.

One of the best nights of my life was spent here. They are by far way better than 95% of the Dueling Piano Bars anywhere. They go beyond the typical  songs you hear every night and have fun. If they are having fun you will have fun. Go early and get a good seat.

I've been here a number of times throughout the past few years and every time I come back even more pleased than the last. The music and crowd is so much fun! The food is bar food, again we don't go to McDonalds for good ribs right? That's not what it's about. It's a place to go with a group or alone and have a great time singing and laughing. A must go while in Savannah!! Not to mention the waitresses are so sweet and fast.

Ok so I realize its Wednesday but really?? It's like two barking dogs banging on a piano!!!!....... Ok came back on Friday to give it a second chance and the "talent" changed... Not bad scenery.. is have to say if you are looking for something to do and its not the weekend look elsewhere.

I love piano bars and this one did not disappoint.

The pianists were very talented, including their vocals! Also, at many other piano bars I've had to wait a long time to get my request played. At SS, they played it right away, in its entirety.

A great place to go with a group of people or just a few friends. People watching is probably the best part.

My fiance and I decided to come here on a Friday just for something different to do and we were both glad we did!  We got there around 9 and it was slow but by the time we left at 11:30, it was definitely crowded and hopping!

He had never been to a dueling piano bar before but I have in Pittsburgh and they're always a good time.  Savannah Smiles doesn't disappoint!  The only reason they got 4 stars is that a waitress - and there were plenty rushing around - never came up to us and asked us if we'd like drinks.  Small quibble, I know, but I'm all about customer service and it was pretty awkward to have people next to us continually served and us not be!

This place is a lot of fun. I think it's even better when you're with a group of people who are either silly or buzzed enough to know the words to old favorite songs. For some odd reason---everyone knows the lyrics to everyyy song. Or maybe that's just the alcohol singing! But, either way, it's a lot of fun. =)

Such a great, fun place! Frequent visitors of Savannah and had a lot of fun here. Friendly staff, three great piano players (one even knew a miley cyrus song to sing by request!...not that I liked miley cryus...but wow they know everything). They REALLY interact with the crowd a lot and get everybody going! All types of people go here and of ALL ages. We'll most likely be going back next time we're in town!

Fun, fun, fun and funny !  This was our first trip to Savannah Smiles.  The Guinness was some of the best we've had while in Savannah.  There was a $5 cover charge to get in and it's worth that and more.  The customer service was great.  Bring cash so you can pay the piano man to play songs and write what's on your mind on his giant mirror on the wall.

They do have an ATM machine in the bar so you can get cash once you get in.  When you get there go ahead and grab a table and get ready to be entertained.  This will be our first stop next time we head to Downtown Savannah !

Favorite bar on the strip! I love, love, love Smiles. There's usually a line (and it's usually pretty short and quick) and the cover is anywhere from nothing to $10 depending on the night (Friday and Saturday nights are best!). The crowd is a mix of college kids right up through bachelor/bachelorette parties and older couples.

The dueling piano players play everything from top 20 hits to your favorite oldies (at your request -- and tip in the tip jar!). They are awesome! You won't go through a night without watching someone celebrate their soon-to-be wedding or current birthday by being planted up on stage for fun (and embarrassment, your choice). I was shoved up there on my birthday one year and had to sit through a song while sitting on the piano (I hated it at the time but it makes for a funny story -- and good photo ops).

Drinks are strong and tasty. Tip well and you'll get good service for life. The food is also surprisingly good (I always forget they have food!) Great bar faves that mostly come from a fryer.

It's not much of a "dance" place -- although people definitely do it. It's a little bit more laid back than that, so a good spot to start (or end) your night. It's also designed for a great night out with a big group - they have seats along the bar and big tables through the main floor.

If you go in with a mindset to have a good time, Smiles should never disappoint!

    THIS PLACE ROCKS!!

I came here with my 58yr old mother and we both had such a good time.  Its a dueling piano bar between Bay and River Street (tucked away close to the Antique Mall).

They focus on live music, tips, funny sayings on the mirror (the more you tip, the better chance you have at getting your own saying on that mirror) and you have a wicked good time.  The crowd is anywhere from mid-20s to early 60s.  They could care less about what the place looks like but rather what YOU kind of fun you are having at their bar.

Doesn't get overly crowded and was there from about 9pm-12am.The drinks are decently price - $5 for a vodka/soda.

I have to say, this was probably one of the best nights I have had in a while.  I have been to Howl at the Moon which is a chain in most metropolitan areas and this blows  them out of the water by a million.

These are REAL people who are REALLY playing piano (remember that the next time you step into a chain that its in question if they are acting or playing!) and you WILL have a great time!!

This place was a lot of fun! We went on a Thursday around 10:30 so it wasn't really to busy but it was getting more crowded as we left. Like the other reviewers said the place is HUGE so its a little awkward when its not full of people.

The dueling pianos were amazing. I've never been to a place like this before and it was incredible. There is a 5 dollar cover, and then your expected to tip the Piano players to get them to play your songs so it could get a little pricey depending on how you play your night out.  I ordered buffalo chicken fingers and fries which for the price was a huge portion and really delicious. My only sadness is that they use ranch and not blue cheese. This should be a crime. Blue cheese needs to be with buffalo sauce. Oh well. I would definitely visit this place again.

I've been a few times when I'm in town. It's an ok place to hang and even better with a group of friends. Seems to be tough to get the piano man to take request. The serves is good, though our waitress was hitting on my girlfriend and I. That was a little weird . . .

Savannah Smiles has always been a favorite late night stop of mine when in Savannah. It is usually rockin' after 10pm and last Friday night was no exception.

We arrived at Savannah Smiles around 11:30pm last Friday, with only a little buzz. After waiting in a small line to get in we were ID'ed, stamped, and let in.

The place was packed so we grabbed a seat at the railing near the bar. We ordered a beer and a Firefly on ice, when my girl complained that her drink was too strong I took it to the bar for them to put a little Sprite in it; which the bartender did in addition to pouring me a nice shot of Jager.

The dueling piano players were AWESOME! They were playing and singing, the crowd was singing with them, there were 2 bachlorette parties going on, a little old lady dancing on stage, and just a good time being had by all.

For some strange reason everytime I went up to the bar to order another beer I was given another shot on the house. By 1;30 when we left I was buzzed out of my mind. That's what I call great service! :)

Okay, so the music was good.

Like NOBODY was there.  Which was super awkward.  Felt kind of bad for them, but maybe it was the night of the week we went?

Good thing about nobody being there was we got our requests in right away and got to hear songs we wanted to hear.  They even played the Un of Florida theme song which was great to hear.

Overall, decnt time especially since I was with my friends.  And a whole bunch of creepy middle aged men.

This place was crazy. My babe and I show up after a great dinner. We are pretty open minded and can hang just about anywhere. Well, it was pretty roudy and huge. The performers are awesome and we had great laughs. I would go there again when we come back in town.  A must place to start your night with some cheap drinks and laughs.

    Ahhhhhh, Savannah Smiles.
I don't even know what to do with you.
This is getting awkward, so I'll just make a list.

    Things I saw/ experienced/ wish I could forget @ S.S.:
Cherry Jell-o Shots from a syringe
Raunchy renditions of classic American jams
A total of 24 patrons in a HUGE bar
A couple of whales breeding on the dance floor
    Multiple difficult-to-deter 40+ creepers

This was a Thursday night after 10PM. Excuse me for expecting a slightly larger, younger crowd at one of Savannah's "hottest" spots to par-tay. The music was actually fairly entertaining and the drinks weren't bad for the cost. I apparently ADDed the cover out of my reality, but I don't know if I would have paid anyways knowing what I know now.

Probably more fun on a Friday or a Saturday. I hope.

And to think we *almost* didn't go...

Savannah Smiles is a dueling piano bar tucked into the corner of a mostly deserted street right near downtown.  We showed up around 10:30 and found parking in a city deck for $3 just up the street on Jefferson.  From there, we literally followed the train of people wearing jorts (the guys) and various florescent colored, spandex, low cut tops (the women) to Savannah Smiles.  We paid the $5 cover, and bellied up to the bar for some pretty strong and very reasonable drinks.

The crowd there was very diverse, but definitely mostly female, from the dozen or so bachelorette parties to the 50th birthday party celebrations, all taking place in this gigantic dive bar.  The gender makeup of the clientèle is definitely something the pianists know how to take advantage of, and it was fun to watch them come up with creative songs to embarrass the soon-to-be-marrieds and others who were so inclined to get up on stage and make fools of themselves.

I have to disagree with Stephie Z. on going alone or with just a couple of people.  As a party of two, we had a great time and would definitely return.  Everyone was there to have a good time, and the feeling was infectious -at some point everyone was up dancing to "Head, Shoulders, Knees and Toes" or singing along to Journey.

Though service was a little spotty once we snagged a table, our waitress more than made up for it with free drinks (and even a free shot).  If you're in Savannah, skip the insane crowds, the homeless people, and the overprived drinks on River Street and head to Savannah Smiles instead.

ok, this is definitely a local dive bar so you need to know what you're getting into before you come here.  That being said, it's probably one of the best one's I've been to!  The dueling pianos with the drum set is a great idea and everyone had a bunch of fun singing along to their favorite hits of the 60s, 70 and (mainly) 80s.  There was one bachelor party and two bachelorette parties going on with another couple in the audience about to tie the knot soon, many people were brought up on stage to have fun with the performers and to showcase their dancing and singing abilities (or lack thereof, lol).  Wide range of ages in the crowd, from 20s all the way on up to 50s-60s even and everyone was having a good time!  Come here after dinner b/c you won't be having any meaningful conversation while in the piano bar, you'll be having too much fun singing along!

I visited Savannah Smiles this past Saturday night and had a BLAST! This is definitely a fun weekend kind of place. They combine lots of people (of college/ 20-30's range), with great music and funny pianists. The musicians were a lot of fun and played a great selection of music.  They also had fun with the crowd bringing up military, bachelorettes, and birthday guys/girls. We had so much fun and will defniitely be back again. My only complaint was that it was ridiculously smoky. Drinks were reasonable, and cover was only $5 on a Sat night. Not bad at all. Now if only they would open a location in Atlanta!

If you are looking for a fun time at a dive bar with decently cheap drinks then you should check out Savannah Smiles. Only a $5 cover. I brought a group of 6 people will me and we had a fantastic time. While the pianists aren't the greatest singers, they are fantastic entertainers and know how to get the crowd involved. I had a blast and would definitely go back next time I am in Savannah. One bad thing (for me at least), they allow smoking inside, so you do smell like the smoke when you get home.

I visited this classy establishment over the weekend and I must say, it's my kinda joint. I had the time of my life and would go back in a heartbeat.
The space was so much larger than I thought it would be. It feels like you're inside a barn (wood plank walls and floors, open rafters) and it could have seemed so huge because it was kinda empty. I went on a Sunday night, which turned out to be a good thing.
The two guys are definitely mediocre singers but they're good entertainers, get the crowd involved regularly and crack wise throughout. They chose a dirty house song to embarrass me, only to discover I was game and thus began my reign as the go-to for them.
They'll definitely try to get you to show your ladies, but will back off when it becomes clear you're not in it. I did have the joy (?) of seeing one gals ladies and lower lady parts AND watch her make out with her gal friend on stage. it was her Bachelorette party and she had apparently forgotten her panties. I advised the piano player to disinfect the top of his piano after she dismounted.
Oh, and the jello shots came in keepsake over sized plastic syringe
Like I said, my kinda place.

    Many Many many problems.....

    1.  Weakest drinks EVER.   I had about 5-6 malibu/pineapples, two shots, and a beer.... barely felt a thing.  Total waste of $$.  And I am no heavy drinker by any means....

    2.  I have never seen so many toppling over drunk rednecks in my life.... and I mean walking in a semi straight line then falling completely over.  Kinda trashy.

    3.  The music was terrible..... they really couldnt sing and I didnt think they were very amuzing.  And I mean they really couldnt sing.  Maybe it would have been more tolerable if the drinks had not been watered down.

    so. much. fun.

i saved this place for my last night in savannah and it was a BLAST! it was super packed (with dudes - score ladies!) and the piano music was great! solid drinks. rowdy crowd. really, really, really, fun atmosphere.

they played "chicken fried," by the zac brown band - twice. yes it's that awesome. there is room to dance in front and if you're a lady, the piano guys try to get you on stage. i'd recommend NOT. it's basically a free T&A show (with girls - score dudes!).

if i lived in savannah, i'd come here whenever i needed a sure-fire, energetic, good time.

I always had a blast here, though the act doesn't change much.  This place is not the cleanest inside but once you've had some drinks in you its one happening spot.  Fun times.  Oh but go with a group.  It sucks if its just a couple of people.

Awesome place to get the night started.  I would recommend getting here early, sometime before 9, so you can get a table.  The guys playing were very talented and intereacted well with the crowd.  My only advise is don't plan on going here if you're just planning on getting a drink or two...it's very easy to get carried away with their strong mixed drinks.  Chances are you'll end up blacked out before you know what hit you.

    FUN FUN FUN!

I LOVE piano bars, and the fact that they dedicated MOON RIVER to me, then had me go on stage to .... make a fool of myself....well that just makes it even better.  Seriously!  Get on that stage, you won't regret it!

Regret - well, they are not shy with their liquor, and the drinks run STRONG, very strong...so I do not recommend having more then 2 or 3 mixed drinks at this place!  Sip slowly....sing along and have fun!!!

On a Friday night, try to show up before 10:00 P.M. or you may not find a seat!

The BEST place in Savannah to go for anyone who wants to sit back with great music or anyone who wants to go out and dance, sing, and get rowdy.  Wonderful atmosphere, fun music, and encouraged audience participation makes this bar a favorite for all late night types!  Fair warning though, don't be surprised to find yourself on stage doing the chicken dance if it's your birthday!
