My husband and I found this place totally by accident, on our first trip to Truro in 2009. Â We have been devoted customers ever since. Â The scones are absolutely to DIE for. Â Im now gluten intolerant so I'm sadly unable to taste them... but if you can eat wheat, I highly recommend them! The breakfast sandwich The Breaker nearly brings my husband to tears every time he has one. Â Wood fired pizzas are very good, and this season they offer a gluten free option! Â And my friends the ice cream.... Oh the ice cream.... We do think this is the best we have ever had. Â Ever. Â Anywhere. Â No lie. Â You have to try the ice cream. Wow!
There are many, many superlatives about Savory and Sweet Escapes. Â We are such devote fans that we even bought t-shirts! Â
I can and do recommend Savory and Sweet Escapes wholeheartedly, with one caveat: the service is uneven at best... And often quite surly. Â Now remember, we are fans. Â we think the quality of the product here is absolutely outstanding. Â We recommend you go and enjoy, but Please don't be surprised if the service is not up to the quality of the food. Â Be polite and patient and you will be rewarded with some absolutely outstanding baked goods, sandwiches, pizza, and ice cream. Â Like us, you will return every single time you are on the Cape.
We've had both their pizzas and their bakery items. Both above average. HUGE scones are unbelievably good. Chocolaty "thingamabogs" (that I can't remember the name of...look for something extremely decadent looking covered in chocolate and it is probably it) truly amazing, extremely good pizza. We've not had anything here that we did not like and have been here a few times.
Review Source:This place is a welcome reprieve from the usual road-side stops that can be hit or miss. This one was all hit and no miss. Â Great service, food, outside seating and even ice cream! Â Lots of indoor and outdoor seating, but only one restroom. Â The special was delish - a ham panini deal. Â My niece got the pizza, which was really good too.
Review Source:Most everything these guys have to offer is great. Pizza is awesome and the ice cream/ baked goods are to die for. Stay away from the burgers, as they are nothing special. I'd also not order the fries as they are grease soaked and mushy. Panini's and sandwiches are decent.
I wish they accepted credit cards, because it's an inconvenience to withdrawal money from the ATM. Also the place is always super super busy, so the staff seem very tired and I imagine it's difficult to keep the dining areas spic and span. However, I always saw someone wiping down tables. Other reviewers complained about cleanliness in the restaurant, but I think you have to take into account the sheer volume of customers that go through this restaurant. I've seen dunkin donuts with no customers and abysmal levels of cleanliness. I think there's a difference.
All in all, Savory & the sweet escape is a must stop for anyone in the area who needs a nice treat and a break from the typical cape cod fare.
Best Pizza I've had in a long time. We had the Tutto w/o mushrooms and it was excellent. There was NO shortage of fresh veggies and the sauce was perfect. Unlike most pizza places there was little cheese because it didn't need it! The only negative was the toppings fell off easily making it a little difficult to eat. We will definitely go back when we return to the cape!

Definitely a good time. Â Stopped in on a whim as we were driving out to Truro Vineyards.
What I will say is that it's a little weird that they have a bit of everything: coffee shop, pastries, cookies, ice cream, pizza, sandwiches and wraps...
However, there are some definite good eats here. Â I had a buffalo chicken wrap that was really good. Â The fries were thin and ok. Â The wife had pizza that was ok.
The pastries, cookies and cakes looked really really good, but we were too full from lunch to eat much more.
We stopped over to the ice cream side of the store and they have an insane amount of types of ice cream and shakes, etc. Â They even have a shaved ice machine. Â We stopped back later after our drive up to the end of the cape because we wanted to try the ice cream. Â They are ok with free samples too, so you can try things. Â The wife got some Truro Cranberry Red wine infused Italian style ice (the vineyard is only a few minutes away). Â It was really sweet for my taste, but she really liked it. Â I got the red velvet ice cream, which was phenomenal. Â I have never heard of this before, but it was great and definitely worth a try.
Pizza/Ice Cream Joint, only nicer.
This place was good. On one side it's a pizza parlor (not just pizza, but mostly) and the other side was ice cream.
Went there with the wife and kids, got a pizza. Since they were behaving, got some ice cream after. The kids liked both, which is a rare. It's usually the ice cream they prefer.
The parking lot is pretty sizable, but also pretty well used as I don't remember seeing an empty spot. Still got one with no problem.
You do need to use caution getting in and out of the parking lot as it's right off the main road and thereby open to some speeders.
Not sure if this is new in this area or I just missed it every other time I was in town.
Cool find.
Great find. Pizza was delicious! Â It's the kind of place where you order at the counter and they bring food to the table. Â Indoor and outdoor seating. Baked goods looked amazing but we went for the ice cream. Really nice homemade ice cream with standard and creative flavors. Â I had Andes mint chip and wife had a coffee toffee frappe.
Review Source:AHEM! I wrote a review of the Sweet Escape part of this business way back in 2009. I have now removed that review. It was not favorable.
We ordered pizza from Savory about 3 times in the last month. While the wait times are haphazard at best, we did really enjoy the pie. As has been stated in some of the reviews, the seating leaves something to be desired. Outdoor seating is nice, but indoor feels chaotic and disorganized. Is there anyway to expand the dining area or make it more comfortable? Probably, but it would need some creative thinking and design.
On to Sweet Escape....
The POMEGRANATE CHIP ice cream is the best ice cream I have had in my life. DID YOU HEAR ME? I am a life-long ice cream connoisseur, I kid you not, and this ranks in the top 5 ice cream experiences of my life. I don't even like fruit ice cream.
Get it in the homemade waffle cone. Bring cash because I understand from all the reviews that they don't take cards. Who cares? Get away from the evil lending corporations, help out a local business, support a cash economy and order the best ice cream flavor of your life. All should be forgiven after you eat that. Even the single bathroom (expand, please!).
Oh, the parking lot is another point of chaos. Watch out for entitled people in humongous SUVs.
We stopped here for icecream for our kids and coffee and treats for us.  First impression was not so good.  I don't think I've ever come across such a dour, sour, sad sack of an icecream scooper in my entire life.  Here I have two little girls who are thrilled to be getting some icecream  on vacation and this guy just seems so pained to be even waiting on us.  The folks working on the coffee side of the restaurant were slightly better.  But my wife did not like her frozen coffee drink and my latte was rather weak.  Good cookies and other treats in the pastry case though.  I hate to give this place only one star, because the icecream was good and it has some real promise.  But if they can't bother to hire happy, friendly, welcoming staff, I can't bother to give more than one star.
Review Source:We got the Tutto pizza and it was excellent. Probably one of the better pizzas I've had. It could also be that I was hungry but even so I think it was still a good pizza. After staring at the array of cupcakes while waiting for the pizza, I had to get some. I tried the chocolate peanut butter and red velvet. I wasn't too crazy about the peanut butter frosting but the chocolate cake is filled with peanut butter and that made it tasty. The red velvet was AWESOME. The cream cheese frosting was sweet and flavorful as was the cake. All red velvet cupcakes should be made like the ones here!
Service was okay. There was one guy who was really friendly.
This is the PERFECT place to grab breakfast before you head to a nearby beach. Â We stayed nearby in Truro, and there wasn't much around. Â I was delighted this cafe/pizza/ice cream place was so close. Â I was a fan of the iced coffee, breakfast sandwiches (they are big), and chocolate desserts!
Review Source:Really thought with all the great reviews this place got it would be great. I was never more disappointed. It was nothing more then a pizza parlor with bad service and food. Service was run bu three teenage boys who did were not interested in working. They mopped the floors right while customers were coming in walked dirty dishes that were stacked next to food prep area through customer area. Wanted to buy some of the yummy looking desserts but after seeing the lack if cleanliness there decided against it. It was that bad. Pizza was not great either, never had stewed tomatoes on my pizza for sauce. All and all was extremely disappointed in this place and will not go there or recommend it.
Review Source:Savory in Truro and Twistd Sisters in Provincetown are the two best places to get really amazing Pizza. I especially love their Margarita Pizza. The pastries and ice cream is to die for and while I wouldn't enjoy eating there (except for a quick bite for lunch), I never turn down a trip to Savory.
Review Source:This is a completely unassuming place, you wold drive by it on route 6 glance and not think to pull over and look for something better, DO NOT DO THAT. The food here is good, beyond the standard Cape fare. the pizza is out of a fired oven (not sure what makes the fire gas, wood, coal) and comes nicely blistered and slightly charred with a great balance between sauce, cheese and crust. Probably the best pizza on the Cape. The panini was also quite good, although it was a bit heavy on the Gorgonzola... As a bonus they also make their own ice cream and sorbet on premise, with a great variety of "adult" inspired flavors using ingredients such a Limoncello. The next time in Truro I'll be stopping again.
Review Source:First impression: Croissants only.
Oh. Wow. I picked up a bunch of filled croissants from here, and they were fantastic. Â Like fancy New York bakery fantastic. Â I wish I'd gotten more fantastic. Â People who I did not buy croissants for were hovering around us hoping we wouldn't finish them all fantastic.
Did I mention they were pretty good?
Cupcakes - 5 stars
Coffee - 4 stars
Panini (turkey, swiss, stuffing, cranberry) & Fries - 3 stars
Not accepting credit cards - negative 5 stars
Ice cream - 900 stars
1 unisex restroom - 1 star
I've been here quite a few times over the years and the ice cream is seriously damn delicious. Â The coffee is quite good and the service is always pleasant. Â All in all, I totally recommend stopping in.
Constructive criticism: I know this sounds ridiculous (and not at all like me), but I feel like the baked goods are way too big. Â I ate a QUARTER of a cupcake and once attempted a whole muffin and thought I might die. Â I feel like I'd be more inclined to make food purchases if the goods were more reasonably sized.
Every year we go to the Cape this is a place we have to stop at. Â For the first few years there was only ice cream. Â The ice cream comes in a ridiculous number of flavors and is very good (and rich). Â You only need a small cup to satisfy your ice cream fix for the day.
This year we finally stopped in on the regular food side and found that their sandwiches are quite good as well. Â All in all, we enjoy going this pair of establishments.
Beware: Cash Only, ATM inside (with surcharge)
This review is for the baked goods only.
Jade is the best baker on the Outer Cape. She should be payed top dollar because her talent and wide range of product surpasses most places/restaurants/bake shops  on the East coast.
While the kids wait on the long ice cream line, pick out something special from her baked goods order a coffee and wait for them to join you on the outside tables. If your timing is right, you won't have to share a bite.
This place is incredible. Â Clean, and professional. Â Many, many homemade flavors of hard ice cream (upwards of 30) and lots of homemade pies. Â Had the chocolate peanut butter last time...still am comparing all else to it. Â It's also outside all of the Provincetown hubbub and off the major road (6).
Definite, definite recommend.
great place to stop if your on route 6. Â It was so good we went back the next night. Â First night we had brick oven chicken, tomato and basil pizza it was the best. Â Second night had roast beef, brie and peppers panni and hand cut fries also great. Â Went over the ice cream area and found lavander, fig ice cream to die for. Â All ice cream is homemade and a great selection of them.
Review Source:Outstanding pizza and sandwiches.
This local joint is as good as it gets. Â If you are heading to PTown it's directly on Route 6, about ten to fifteen minutes outside of town.
Possibly the best pizza I've ever had. Â Obviously fresh ingredients. Â Reasonably priced, particularly considering the quality. Â
And the burgers are terrific. Â Lots of flavor, served on square foccacia rolls. Â
One side of the building is pizza and sandwiches. Â The other side is home made ice cream.
It can get pretty busy, so it's best to know what you want before you get to the counter to order.
