Cool dive! we found it on a whim, I was attracted to the waffle photo that is next to their name here on yelp, so decided to check it out. Its a cute little restaurant with a great breakfast selection! I ended up getting french toast and bacon, it was delicious. my husband got a big ol' omelette and hash browns, which he said was very good!

The service was good when we first sat down, but we had to ask waitresses walking by for stuff that we needed instead of being asked. First world problem, but I suppose thats what we're paying for. :)

Go check it out, we spoke with one of the owners and he seems like a stand up guy!

Consistently good food. Long waits during prime hours though. Friendly staff.

Hostess says the wait would be ten minutes. Ended up waiting for 45 mins and finally left. Locals were taken in before us. Hostess Dawn said its because people had called ahead but I think when people had been waiting as long as us having the reservation list wait a bit wouldn't have killed anyone. I won't be coming back. Plenty of other breakfast places on the island.

Great breakfast. Especially the waffles but if you want a pleasant dining experience look somewhere else. I get that running a restaurant is a demanding experience but how about a little appreciation towards the people you are serving. I no longer come here if their is a waiting list. I've watched too many times as people more "local" than me - although I come here 2 to 3 times a week in the winter- are seated ahead of us. As much as I'd like to support local businesses, I'll be making my own waffles this summer.

We try to visit every year while in LBI - IF we can get a table! I've only ever had breakfast/lunch food, but the quality of the food is good (think more 'diner' than 'restaurant'), the service pleasant, and value for money excellent. I just wish they would expand to accommodate large crowds on weekend mornings - both in the restaurant and in terms of the parking.

Ok, I know it's a pet peeve, but when breakfast is your specialty, 2 pages on the menu and 12 specials on the board, could you at least serve homemade oatmeal. Glad I asked before ordering. Had a waffle and bacon. Waffle was crispy and good. Bacon was cold and way overdone. No longer my go to breakfast on LBI.

Scojo's is a really great restaurant. I have been going here for years for breakfast, and that is always great. I get the waffles, and they are great. Everyone else in my party always enjoys, and there are never any problems. Everything is great here for breakfast.

I have also been to Scojo's for lunch, and it is good - like always.

Today, we decided to come here for dinner. I ordered a twin lobster tail and everything was just as I'd expect from
    Scojo's - great.

Also, I have to add that service and prices are great.

I definitely recommend going to Scojo's if you are on LBI!

We were there for dinner. The food and service were equally terrific. This was especially impressive because they were full to capacity with a line of people waiting, yet everything was organized, friendly, and timely. All portions were big and delicious. We will definitely return and recommend Scojo's!

LBI is all about finding those hidden gem places to eat and Scojos is one of those places! If you are looking for a great place for breakfast on the island I highly recommend Scojoes. It came as a recommendation from an old co-worker who use to live down on the island and we gave it a shot.

The portions are just huge and you can easily have food for two days. The always have a huge selection of breakfast specials and we have yet to have a bad meal. The egg scramble was delicious and I had a spinach wrap with hot peppers and sausage which was one of the best breakfast wraps I have had in a long time.

The place is small and they get very busy so plan a head or visit in the off-season. Keep up the great work and the excellent food.

Most decent breakfast place in LBI. I had a yogurt with fruit/granola and some eggs with cheese. No complaints!

We stopped in for our annual 'last day on the island breakfast' at Scojo's and as usual it was delicious.  Even though I am usually picking from my daughter's plate instead of ordering them myself, I think they make the best pancakes on the island.

If you don't get there early be prepared to wait, because this place gets packed quickly...by 8am there is usually a line of people waiting outside.  Never been here for anything other than breakfast, but never walked away disappointed.  Great breakfasts, affordable prices, and staff that are friendly and fast (I wouldn't linger too long however...remember there are a lot of people who want your table).

Delicious affordable food. Good diner food in a setting a step above diner.  Blue plate specials daily 2-6 offer about 30 choices, most of which are good: $13 includes soup, salad, meal, dessert, and tea. I'm partial to the beef choices (beef stroganoff, roast beef, etc) and my Mom likes the leftovers that give her a whole other meal later in the week!

I love this place. My family has been coming to the island for 30+ years and this place has been a staple for us. I love their soups, salads, and pasta specials. My dad dreams of their chicken parm- it is just that good! My sister has also tried just about every chicken and turkey sandwich they offer and every single one has been good.

Making a reservation a few hours ahead is always a good idea with Scojo's. Don't go expecting a quiet or romantic dinner- this place is loud and the tables are close together. So worth it though!

Pretty mediocre and generic.  i've been here a bunch of times for dinner- unfortunately not for their acclaimed breakfast - line is too damn long, even on the weekdays! but dinner is consistently hit or miss- as in half the group will like their food and half will hate it.

anyways, there's a lot on the menu but i would order with caution.

here are the trends i've noticed in most recent visits:
    - chicken dinners suck.
    - pasta dinners are blah.
    - seafood is very fresh (had crab clusters the other night and was in heaven)
    - anything with clams is usually a big hit
    - bonus points for BYO
    - soup/ salad and dessert come with dinner specials (loves it!)
    - hostess is a wench
    - *most* waiters/ waitresses are very nice and helpful.
    - the outrageously long wait boggles the mind.
    - the desserts aren't good. namely the chocolate cake (i've made better from a box). rice pudding is ordinary but apparently the carrot cake is ok.

scojo's is not a place i crave or chose to go to, but if the family wants to go i wouldn't throw a tantrum or anything.

We have been going to LBI for many years and have never been to this restaurant.  We tried it out for the first time this summer and had a very nice meal. They have everything and anything you might like to order. It was a great experience for me and my family. I don't think you'll be disappointed.

We love this place...for the food. Never had a bad meal here. We look forward going as we know we will enjoy the food. But the only thing we hate is the tightness in which you are seated and no privacy. They really need a bigger place and with the way they make the portions and the food so very home style, they should move into a bigger place. It is very popular with the locals and we love it.

Staff issues. I saw the other reviews and all the times we have been there we never had a problem. Yes, they could be a bit friendlier and yes, I feel like screaming to get my coffee refilled some times. But it is what it is. We enjoy it because we enjoy home made style food and put up with anything if the food is good.

We went down to do some striper fishing on the beach, after a couple of hours we got hungry and my other half decided to go to Scojo's.  I have never been there before.  When we arrived, we were surprisingly seated right away, maybe because it was 10:30 in the morning and almost lunch time.  The first thing I noticed was the huge crowd crammed into this rather small restaurant.  As I followed the rather nasty older woman who was the hostess, I looked down and immediately saw what I wanted.  There gazing up at me, coaxing me to take a bite was a delightful plate of eggs benedict!  My dining partner decided he had a "fisherman"  appetite and ordered the big breakfast.  The waitress was right there and extremely quick and efficient.  The food came out within 15 minutes!  I was quite impressed.  Just as I had expected, the eggs benedict was delicious.  The eggs had been poached to perfection.  Only the yellow was runny, all of the white was cooked.  The canandian bacon was a bit of a disappointment as it was the size of a silver dollar.  It was 1/2 the size that you would get on an Egg McMuffin from that golden arches chain.   It had also been a bit over cooked and ended up being more like ham jerky.  The bournaise sauce was delicious as well and it totally enrobed the toasted english muffin.  For $8.95 you got two eggs benendict on a split muffin.  I also had a choice of hash browns,  fried potatoes, sliced tomato or a fruit cup.  I went with the later.  It was fresh and delicious as well.  Any time a fruit cup has FRESH pineapple it earns an A+ from me.

The other half was quite satisified with his "Big Breakfast" and couldn't finish it all.  There was lots of bacon on the platter, which made quite an impression.  Usually at a diner or restaurant you're lucky to get 4 slices max.  This had 6!  The pancakes were light and fluffy and the eggs were perfectly over easy.

The only con's I have with Scojo's is it's a very small restaurant.  The tables are so close together you may as well just make the place "family style" and link the tables all together.  There is NO privacy in your conversations, but for the food, I can make a concesssion.    The major con was the older woman who was at the register area.  She was MISERABLE !  It was busy, but not to t he point  where you tried to nicely say something to her and she just grumbled at you when you were being seated.  I thought I'd give her the benefit of the doubt and upon leaving when we were done, I commented to her how good the food was.....the "thank you " I got back was almost like a chicken getting ready to have it's head sliced off!  That was my major disappointment.  Have some appreciation for your patrons.  We are the ones who pay your paycheck!

All in all, I would go back for the food, but will avoid the "Queen of Mean" as much as possible.!

The "crabby burger" was awesome with juicy mushroom/crab as the patty!  The "Scojo burger" was only alright-good ingredients but not seasoned enough so a little bland.  A lot of restaurants are closed in the fall so it's nice to find a restaurant that's open.

The only reason my family and I return to Scojo's again and again is for the food. We love the breakfast and lunch items - the eggs, french toast, wraps, etc are all great - but HATE the service and waitstaff's attitudes.

The waiter we seem to get every time is nice enough, I suppose, but he is unfortunately unable to do his job properly. If you ask for coffee he never brings any, if you request drink refills you get things you've never ordered, if you make changes to menu items they never come how you'd like.

Though the waiter is an issue, the true problem with Scojo's is the manager/owner. I have never in my life experienced such condescension and rudeness from someone on Long Beach Island. Everyone eating at the restaurant is relaxed and happy - we're at the shore for goodness sake! - and the owner is angry and disrespectful.

This problem is a serious one, and may affect my family's choice to eat at Scojo's. Hopefully things will be fixed in the near future, however, because we really do enjoy the food.

Great food, huge portions and effective air conditioning all make for a great summer-time breakfast spot on LBI.  This has been my Family's favorite spot for years - just tell Dawn that "Ed SInatra" sent you!

Scojo's is a fantastic restaurant.  The food is delicious (especially the skillets!) Make sure you get there early enough to avoid the lines and there is only parking on the street. Besides that I would completely recommend you eat here.

In context of a family breakfast place - both our meals were excellent.  They were busy but always friendly and attentive.  We were a party of 7 plus high chair.  Portions were large, fruit was fresh and everyone enjoyed what they ordered.  Kudos!

The first thing you will notice when you sit down is the HUGE MENU, I mean if they dont have something you want here I dont know what to tell you. The food comes in generous portions for reasonable prices for breakfast, lunch, and dinner.

There is no parking lot and trying to find a spot in the summer on LBI is really a pain and the place fills up with tourists so i stay away during the main season. When it's busy there is a lot of people in there and i feel the tables are really too close where you feel like anyone walking by has to rub against your chair cause theres nowhere else to go.

The food & pricing gets 5 stars from me, the lack of parking and space inside brings it down to a 4 though.

You know the only thing that keeps me from giving this a 5 star rating   ( maybe not fair but...) is having to park so far away to get in and sometimes the lengthy wait to get a table.  However this is the place to go on the island for delicious food, great variety, and a decent price.  I have NEVER been disappointed here and highly recommend this establishment.  In fact I recently wore a tee shirt from Scojo's in Cancun and believe it or not I had several people come up and tell me they love dinning there.  Internationally Famous????

Family friendly restaurant. Great big menu for all three meals. BUT, the early bird special from 2:00-6:00 EVERYDAY ALL YEAR LONG is the best deal in town. Lots of choices with soup, salad, entree, dessert and coffee, tea or iced tea. All for only $10.99. I had the turkey dinner (mostly good) with lentil soup (great), Caesar salad (nice and fresh), banana cream pie (real good) and coffee (diner quality). Servers was ultra nice and attentive. Manager came by to see all was good. So, grab the kids and GO THERE! But plan on a wait. So, what do you want for the best deal in town?

LBI lacks diversity among their restaurants, but this place offers more than burgers and eggs. The menu is expansive (a definite plus), but should probably be trimmed and clarified for easier scanning.

My family has owned a house down in LBI for the past 20 years and many I've seen many restaurants come and go. If you're looking for fresh food, friendly service and great prices with no frills this is the place to come.

Whether you're coming here for breakfast (which is my favorite) or dinner, you walk out satisfied with a smile on your face. This is a family run business, and they really do treat all their customers like family. It's a breath of fresh air.

I can see where people may be turned off because it has a diner-like feel and it's not too fancy, but hey, this is a beach town not Manhattan.

Make sure you get there early or prepare to wait because during peak times, it's packed with a line out the door!

I was somewhat amazed at how big the menu was.  Not only was it big, it was semi-confusing.  For those who don't like to read through a menu like you would a novel, you'd be thrown for a loop... from Blue Plate Specials, Lunch Specials, Breakfast Hours, to Early Dinner Specials.  Yes, they all have different prices and require a little bit of mathematical know-how to figure out.

    To Order:
Open Faced Roast Turkey Sandwich w/ Mashed Potatoes
-While a little light on the gravy, a simple order of "EXTRA GRAVY PLEASE!" would solve that predicament oh so quickly.  The turkey was slightly on the drier side, but was tasty nonetheless.  I'm not sure what kind of gravy they used, but it was good and complemented the sandwich well.  The mashed potatoes were a perfect addition to this order..  Scoop a small portion of mashed potatoes over the sandwich and prepare yourself for a big bite.  You'll now be enjoying a common East Coast phenomenon of open face sandwiches in all their glory.

    French Fries with Gravy
-They used a different kind of gravy than the one on the Turkey sandwich, a welcomed surprise.  The gravy was very hot and so were the fries... slightly on the salty side, but definitely a delight to the taste buds.

Our server was really cool and seemed to be interested in what we had to say.  He took care of us just right, which is always more than anyone can ask for.  Our waters never saw the bottom, our food came out pretty quickly, and the side orders that were ordered late in the game came out even quicker.

The atmosphere felt like a humble, family owned restaurant that caters to the locals, and makes you feel at home every time you visit.

I kinda wished I could try their breakfast foods... and understand their menu a little more.

    4 Stars.

Last year I came in the off-season and had the most AMAZING pumpkin soup ever here, it disappeared the next day but I'm hoping they'll bring it back in the fall.

Anyway, it's summer now and we ate here, i think, 3 times in the past 5 days. Everything is good and cheap, especially if you don't mind dining with the grannies, avoid the wait and hit up the blue plate specials before 5 pm.

Scojo's is a pretty solid diner type spot, including the waitresses working shifts from 5:30am - 3pm (she told us).  Breakfast burrito was great, hashbrowns were golden crispy goodness.  This place was crowded when we arrived so we had like a 20 min wait, but I guess this goes to show the locals love it as well.  Would definitely eat here again.

As other Yelpers have said, definitely an LBI institution - a week down the shore is not complete without at least a couple of trips to Scojo's for breakfast or lunch.

Definitely expect to wait at least 20 minutes for a table, even if there's just a couple of you, but it's worth it.  The diner-style food is a great value, and the atmosphere is definitely welcoming, cheery and bustling.

Ummm hello, like the best breakfast on earth!!! Whether you stroll in after early morning beach fishing, or go in hung over after a night of drinking, or just decide for a nice sit down family breakfast, Scojos fails to disappoint. The lines are long, but it's worth the wait, the secret is calling ahead and putting your name on the list so you dont have to wait outside in the 90 degree heat. That's just a tip from a part time local. The lunch & dinners are just ok, but the breakfast is woo hoo!

this place epitomizes the jersey shore-locals flock here all year and probably stay away from Memorial Day to Labor Day.

Typical vast diner menu but tastes like real home cookin!

    Wow this place has everything!

A LBI institution - it's one of those places if you come to LBI you have to eat here at least once.

Staff is friendly and works quickly. There can be a wait here, but it's worth it. Food is perfect for brunch type stuff and the menu is huge - something for everyone.
