This past Thursday night was the first time I had eaten at Scotty's since first semester and as always the food, service, and ambiance was great. My friends and I walked into a loud, vivacious crowd of people eating, waiting to be seated, and sitting at the bar. I immediately remembered cleanliness of the restaurant. The floors were kept tidy, the silverware was organized, and the restroom was clean as well.

As far as location, Scotty's is located at 302 N. Walnut. I have always thought this was in a convenient location. It is on the corner of Walnut, which is about a 5-minute drive from most IU campus dorms. However, without a car, it may be a hassle to get to the restaurant especially when it is too cold to walk in the wintertime.

Every time I go to Scotty's I usually order the sweet chicken club wrap, which is spectacular, but this time I decided to change it up and I ordered the bar-b-q ranch chicken salad. This was a great decision. Not only was this salad topped with many vegetables such as onions, tomatoes, and corn, but also the chicken was cooked perfectly and seasoned with just the right amount of salt, pepper, and BBQ sauce. I am also very picky about heavy salad dressing and in general I am not a big fan of ranch. However, this salad was an exception. The dressing wasn't too heavy and the lettuce was not drowning in the ranch. It was also a lighter ranch than the traditional bottled dressing. I was very pleased with the way the salad was presented and I was extremely happy that I didn't have to say, "Light on the dressing, please".

Lastly, all of Scotty's salads are priced as regular or half sizes. This was very helpful considering the regular size is very large. I ordered the half size, which was approximately 7 dollars whereas the regular is 12 dollars. I think this is reasonably priced not only for a family of four dining out, but also a college student. The rest of the menu is also very accommodating in regards to price.

From the time we sat down until the time we left, the service was impeccable. The waiters and waitresses are constantly refilling beverages and stopping by to see how everything is tasting. They are very cooperative with big groups and also creating separate checks. Never once was a waiter or waitress rude or condescending. Whatever we needed was brought immediately without hesitation.

All in all, my experience at Scotty's was amazing and I will definitely keep going back until I graduate from IU.

Alright, here is my late update for Scotty's. I'm sad to say that I will not being going back. After my last review I was contacted by the management at Scotty's through email and they tried to make it right. I told them I was going back for the BSC Championship game (I said late update). I took a seat at the end of the bar and ordered wings and a beer. The service at the bar was better than in the past but what I saw in the kitchen was disturbing. There looked to be mass chaos between the kitchen staff and the servers. This led to outright arguing between them. All in full view of people at the bar. What really did it for me was when a cook (male, mid twenties with a face full of piercings) threw "something" at a server and it landed in some soup she was holding. She very loudly told him that since "that" landed in the soup he could get her another one. She handed it back to him and turned to speak to another server. At this point the cook took a spoon and dug out the offensive "item" out of the soup while laughing along with all the other cooks. He then handed the soup back to the server and she took it to a table. I don't know what was in the soup, it could have been a crouton for all I know, but it could have also been something really horrible. Furthermore, if the kitchen crew is too lazy to get a new soup after they threw something in it, I'm scared to know what else is going on back there. Overall, my assessment of Scotty's is a failure of on the ground managers. The guys in dress shirts and ties look like they are in way over their heads and they just don't care about actually being managers. This allows the other staff to run wild and act like, while kids. I have no problem with people having fun at work, but its just a bit too loose at Scotty's.

I went to Scotty' Brewhouse while on business travel to Bloomington on 9/24/2012.  I really like the place.  I always like to try local brews when I travel to a new place and the ones here were great!  The local brown ale (forget the name) was amazing, as was the bourbon barrel ale.

I'm a Texas boy and burgers are one of our staples, and had the Shewman Special.  It intrigued me to have a burger with peanut butter on it, but it was raved about in the menu so I gave it a shot.  It was fantastic.  Cooked just the way I like it and the peanut butter added just that extra little bit that was awesome.

The service was great, we never ran out of drinks and they were all very friendly.  Overall a great experience and if I'm back that way I will definitely hit up Scotty's again!

I think this place is nothing special. The food isn't impressive and there are better "bar food" places in Bloomington. The only thing I like is the atmospheres and the amount of TVs. It's a great place to watch a game. I also like their napkins are towels.

Looking for a good burger we found this place on yelp.  The environment is sporty and our daughter got a kick out of sitting in the really tall barstool high chair.  Our server was a little slow.  The food was just ok.  I can't really say it was as great as everyone is raving about.  I had the blazin bugle burger.  The spices were a great touch but it was really lacking something.  It needed some type of sauce.  My wife had a buffalo chicken salad that was incredibly mediocre.  They have a wide selection of beer but nothing that is out of the ordinary for a good beer bar to carry.

After 2 years of grad school in Bloomington I am pretty sure I hit all of the noteworthy places in town.  I can say without hesitation that one of the best go-to places is Scotty's.

With a solid list of beers and spirits, all the games on flat screens and a menu that leaves your head buzzing, this place knows how to cater to those that want to check the diet at the door for a meal and have some good eats.

Their wings are meaty and the sauces are what you would expect for a solid buffalo wing.  Their other favors are spot on as well, bbq is sweet and tangy.

The one noteworthy item that I would call out is the Shewman Special, one of their specialty burgers.  Get past the initial thought that peanut butter, jalapeno and bacon don't go together.  They do.  Really really well.  It is a burger like nothing you will have ever tried before...sweet, spicy and savory, perfectly cooked and hitting all the "this is awesome" spots in your palette.  Pair it with a side of the buffalo chips, which are spicy fries cut into rounds and wash it down with a cold beer.  Killer.

All in all a must try spot whether it's for the game in January or to sit outside under an umbrella in May.

One the better places to eat in Bloomington...not that there is a lot of variety there.  The food is actually decent and the service is great.  It is in a good location and love the patio.  We went to eat there for numerous occasions, from birthdays to the "I just got f-ed up by my K201 exam" and alway made it into a better night.  Highly recommended!

This is not a place you should go too often since the menu is pretty unhealthy. However, when you eat unhealthy food it should taste good. And Scotty's food is delicious. I got a burger on a pretzel bun, which was great. I also had a side of very good waffle fries. They were crispy and tasty. There were a bunch of screens all over the place too so we could get a good view of the game wherever we were sitting.

We have had plenty of great experiences at Scotty's over the years. In my four years as an IUB student my friends and I made it a tradition to do everyone's birthday dinner at the Brewhouse. However, the last three or four times I have dined there it has been an awful experience. I tried to chalk it up to a bad night here and there, but we haven't had a positive experience at Scottys in at least a year. I want to keep trying them because of the past great times, but I'm not sure I can give them my business any more. Time after time our food has been brought out cold. Then when we have it warmed up, only the entree is heated and the fries stay cold/room temperature. I don't think it is much to ask to have a hot burger, hot chicken sandwich and warm fries when you are dining out. Service has been lagging too, as they are very reluctant to apologize when they bring us cold food... usually blaming it on someone in the kitchen.
All in all, I am very disappointed in the direction that Scottys is going. We had so many great times there in the past but I feel it is time to move on to a new birthday restaurant.

Fantastic family-friendly place to eat and watch a game.  Backyard BBQ burger is amazing.  As is the tomato soup and grilled cheese pizza.

They also have the good old-fashioned square school pizza.  Huge menu all is great.

Ah, Scotty's. I don't know who Scotty is, but I'd like to shake his hand, kiss his shoes and take him out on the town.

First of all, their menu is absurdly huge and offers a wide variety of choices. It's like an IKEA catalog for food. If I had to choose one appetizer to recommend, I'd haveta say go for the dill chips. They're fried pickles that are served with a side of ranch and a side of horse radish. For being fried, they're really not greasy at all, and the dips complement them orgasmically.

After flipping through your 8 inch thick menu of dinner entrees, you'll see that you can't really go wrong. You'll also see how much pride Scotty's takes pride in their burgers, which is why I'd recommend trying one of their many burgers.

Scotty's has a competition for people to submit their best burger ideas, and they leave them on the menu if they become popular/successful. Needless to say, some interesting burgers have made the cut. Try the Shewman burger, which features peanut butter as a topping. They also have a burger that is sandwiched between a "pretzel bun," which I heard is pretty legit. I'd also highly recommend the Aloha burger, which is a great burger that features pineapple chunks on it. Delicious. If you can't decide on a burger to choose from, there's a nice build-your-own page on their menu, where they give you the choices, with prices.

Oh, and their beer selection is unbelievable. And if you're into sports, this is a great place to post up. They have TVs at every booth and mounted all over the place, but it's not overpowering. It's a great atmosphere altogether.

If you're a college student at IU or just stopping by Btown for a meal, get over to Scotty's, have a beer and a burger, and pledge your allegiance to Scotty.

Okay their fried pickles and burgers AWESOME.  Their prices, horribblleeee.  I have gotten food there many times because I do sometimes crave it, but I also have gotten sick on their fish tacos before, NEVER EVER get their fish tacos.  I also got a caesar once and the dressing was globbed on there, even after I ask that they go very very light.  Plus its a chain, theres too many better places to eat at in this town than to go here, and the drinks are ridiculously over priced... sorry I like most of you bartenders :(.  They can make you a pretty good milkshake though.  I really liked this place the first couple times, but then just realized for the money there's too many other places to go, plus I started getting mroe an dmore sub-par food...

One of my favorite places in Bloomington. Great location to grab a bite to eat before checking out a concert at the Bluebird.

I really like Scotty's.  Their menu is almost TOO big, as it takes a table a decade just to flip through that huge menu and make a decision.  I love their chicken wraps, I can't get enough of them.  I always say I'm only going to eat half of it, but that rarely happens.  They don't skip on portion size, so you are getting your money's worth size wise...

I absolutely love their shewman special burger (I don't really like burgers).  It's chedder cheese, jalapenos, & peanut butter!  I know, sounds raunch, but F, it is GOOD!

The portions are way too big and two people who aren't fat, sloppy, Americans can easily share "one" order.  You get a huge burger and fries (the waffle fries are pretty good).

The service has always been on spot when I'm there.  It is a sports bar, which I absolutely do not care about but it has much better food then Opie Taylors.

I usually go in the afternoon and it's busy but not ridiculously so.  At night it can get crazy and loud, but if you go when common sense tells you to go, the anti-sports/rowdy crowds crowd will be fine.

Service is spotty, the crowd is obnoxious, the sports is in your face.

But, it's worth it for one of the few places in town to get free range beef, Indiana grass fed beef, or bison burgers.

I don't understand why anyone would come here for anything other than those burgers, as the rest of the menu is lackluster and cluttered.

Not the best burgers ever, but definitely the best Kobe burger available in Bloomington.  It is a really good place to get some burgers, hang out with friends and watch some sports.  Good selection of beers as well.  Bar is centrally located in downtown, so a good meeting place as well. The sangria is a rip off, they use Oliver Wine Red (spiked grape juice) for it and charge about $15 for a pitcher.  The bottle of Oliver Wine Red at the store, costs about $5.

My vote for the best burger in Bloomington. Try the Backyard BBQ burger, or the BBQ wrap. They've got a great bar, nice selection of beer on tap, and a huge menu.

This place is awful. If there is anything going on, the wait here is impossible. The food is substandard. Once you do get in or get a table, the bartenders are extremely overworked. It takes them way to long to take your order. Avoid this place at all costs. Instead go down the street to Yogis.

Fun place for your typical sports bar fare. Good food, from what I remember, though I've only been there once. Central location downtown, and has outdoor seating.
