Wednesday night trivia is a must!!! Janet is a great bartender/server and is very attentive to each one of her customers! The food is excellent and they have a rotating menu of craft beers.

Make it out on a Wednesday for sure!

I had a coupon from the Entertainment book that was about to expire. I have been wanting to try this place for a while now. My boyfriend & I went there Friday 10/26/12 7:30 pm.  We sat in the main dining area, there was a band setting up when we arrived.  We both ended up ordering burgers, Mine was the Three Cheese on a pretzel roll with steak fries, my boyfriend got a burger as well with curly fries. $9.95each... good deal and even better with the $8.00 discount we had from the coupon!! The burgers and fries were excellent...

    The pretzel roll sold me!!!

Is there a down side?: It's a small establishment, but it's in a strip mall..  It was not crowded at the time we were there, but I would gather that with a band or other entertainment, it could get crowded later in the evening.

I now come here weekly.  The food is good, the service is awesome (special mention of Janet) and they have trivia.  It's quite the trifecta. Also, its a great place for watching the Black Hawks.  Great drink specials when they play.

My review is going to be pretty narrow in focus, due to the fact that my wife and I only get one thing here, but we get it A LOT.

When we first opened a business across the street from Shanahan's, we gave it a try, really liked our server Donna, and liked our meals okay, but nothing terribly special. Then on the next visit we ordered the BBQ Cheeseburger (Donna recommended it on a pretzel roll, which was an off-menu option at the time), and since then, every other burger in any other location has been a disappointment. It truly is the best burger I've ever had.

One of the (filtered) reviewers said "Who can get fries wrong?" I've had fries from plenty of places I didn't like, but I wouldn't say they were "wrong." Taste is subjective, and Shanahan's steak fries are almost as good as the burger, especially dipped in their BBQ sauce.

My only caveat is that whatever level of doneness (is that a word?) you like your burger, ask for it the next level less done: if you like it medium, ask for med. rare, etc.

Shanahan's has become a staple in my weekly life, thanks to Trivia Bob with Roxxoff Entertainment! With a rotating team of anywhere from 2-10 people, we love coming out on Wednesday nights. Janet remembers us every week and is a really great bartender/server. She rocks the whole place by herself, and does an excellent job of it.

The drinks are delish, and there's a new drink special each month. The food is pretty stellar, from what I've had. The cheese fries make me happy in a the-fry-is-an-edible-spoon-for-the-cheese-and-bacon kinda way. The tater skins are pretty decent, though they could be a little crispier. The burgers rock. The Shepard's pie is like a masterpiece on your plate--A giant bread bowl full of meaty goodness and topped with mashed potatoes...served with the top of the bread bowl. Yum! The pièce de résistance is certainly the cookie with stuff on it. Man oh man do I love this thing. A giant warm cookie, topped with ice cream, chocolate sauce, whipped cream, and a cherry...warms my heart and sends my tastebuds flying loops of joy. Om nom nom.

So come on out. My team has an ever-changing name, typically a pun (ie: Seymour Butts, Amanda Kissenhug, etc) and typically do well in the standings. Bring it on. :)

I picked Shanahan's as my 200th yelp review because as of late, this place has become my staple bar. Every Wednesday I play trivia here with my team (8 bits of Fury). We all love it here. The trivia (shout out to Bob with Roxxoff Entertainment) is so fun & the prizes are unbeatable (Shanahan's Gift Cards!)  We love the drink specials and the above par bar food. (wait above par, literally translates into worse, bad analogy) - the awesome bar food. Janet, our favorite/regular bartender is prompt, attentive and friendly.
I do wish they had a little better craft brew selection, but Janet mixes up a perfect cocktail, so I just stick to the hard stuff.
Thursdays are open mic and I really enjoy this night too. They have $12 domestic yards of beer (DEAL ALERT!!) and the entertainment is never a disappointment - unless you were there on the night i performed O.o i went on way too late and had three too many cocktails, but you know, it wasn't all bad, i got a lot of laughs and they were more then forgiving of my potty mouth.
The manager keeps shit in line but isn't an annoying hawk like some bars in the area.
Overall I love Shanahan's in Woodridge! - see ya next Wednesday for trivia, IF YOU DARE!

TIP - if you're coming from 355 headed south - QUICKLY get in the far right lane, the turn can sneak up on ya pretty fast.

Okay, if you're hankering for ribs, I know, an Irish pub wouldn't be your first thought.  But - WHOA - the ribs at Shanahan's fall off the bone good!!  Tender, juicy, and the sauce is a fantastic blend of sweet and spice!  The burgers are also fabulous.  And you MUST try the Jack Daniels flat iron steak sandwich.

Prices are very reasonable.  Atmosphere is nice.  While it's not easy to get to, it's worth the effort.  Try them for lunch - you can get in and out without a long wait!

Imagine getting off from work late night and coming here for a pitcher of beer with your friendly bartender.   You unwind...... Talk about how many people or co-workers pissed you off today.   And slowly de-stress before heading home.   This is the after-spot dive bar for most locals of the city of Woodridge.  Drinks are cheap.  Company is friendly.   Conversation is great.    And the place is very low key.  I felt the vibe of my friends' company.   Everyone has a story to tell.  Whether it be funny, sad, or momentous, Shanahan's is the place to be to share it.   Nobody here judges you.  And that's great feeling especially when you're on vacation.    I was reminded of the television show "Cheers".    The people know each other.   They welcome visitors like me and take stride in hearing my stories and my part of town.      Great place to  practice my people skills away from my comfort zone.

Thank you to our bartender Donna for your charisma and enthusiasm.   Special thanks to my Chicago friends Randy and Alma for taking me here.    Definitely be back here when I return.

    Notes:
    - Great place for UYEs (Unofficial Yelp Events).  No admission fee.   And again... drinks are cheap.
    - There's karaoke but beware some patrons should be black listed.
    - Parking - Plentiful after 11:00PM.
    - Food.   I wasn't hungry.

The place is terrible. The employees are cliq-y and think they are too cool. The waitresses take forever to tend tables and are very rude. The Karaoke Lady is snobby and mostly lets "her friends" sing in front of others. I went a couple times to give the place a chance. The food is awful. Pizza is crap, burgers are soggy and even the fries are terrible. Who can get fries wrong. Oh well. Too bad I love so close and want nothing to do with the place. If you want a better atmosphere with much better food and service, go North on Woodward about a mile and a half to Roundheads Pizza Pub (Woodward & 63rd).

Interesting crowd here at Shanahan's! There was a little bit of everything! Meaning the crowd... This was you typical corner tap, in a stripmall in Woodridge. They have a jukebox and had the closing ceremony of the olympics playing on the large flat-screen tvs. My ass become very uncomfortable sitting on the wobbly chairs at the hightop tables. We asked for a order of chicken fingers and they were sold out?? So we drank our dinner! It was an interesting night, had fun with a good, old friend. The company made it more interesting than it actually was!

The map has me totally confused, this place is on 75th East of 355. We used to enjoy coming here for a great burger. Lately things seem to be falling apart. Last Friday evening, the place was a nightmare. We have never waited sooooooooooooo long for our food. We ended up just getting a box and leaving because is was so crowded there was no way to sit and enjoy your food. The band even closed the doors on one of the exits and blocked it with their equipment.

The time before we also waited an unusually long time for our burgers.

Speak to me ~ what has gone wrong that we don't want to eat here?

Went in for karaoke one night, and the KJ was a woman playing music "very softly".........it was late enough to start karaoke, but apparently she didn't have any singers and didn't know how to run her equipment......who knows, but she wasn't very "inviting".  The place itself wasn't bad though small, but there was no place to sit when we arrived around 10:30pm.  I agree with Caitlin O.---it's not a place to go out of your way to go to, as we kinda did.......the bar looked small and probably had a very limited selection from what I could see.  It appeared to be mainly a younger crowd, but nothing special----kinda blah if you ask me.  Disappointed in the atmosphere.

Eh... A well poured Guiness but a soggy burger and a cramped feel makes this place a "pass" on my list. Not horrible. But when that word is even dropped in a review, it makes you think.

You really expect a little more from any establishment. But in this case, the term "lack-luster" can definitely be used.

    I'd give them 3.5 if I could.

Either way, they're friendly, the drinks are cheap, the beer selection is kind of ass but oh well, the menu selection is limited, Karaoke on Thursday nights, the bar is clean.

I can't really complain, it's just not anything special. Decent time for the locals, I wouldn't go out of my way to get here, though. I'm mostly a patron out of convenience.

It's not a knock, it's a comfortable place, it's just not something I'd make a huge trip for.
