I am not a club person, so instead I come here and socialize with the crowd. The bartenders are super nice and they make the drinks right. I'd choose this place over any club just because of the fun atmosphere. I love how each night has a theme and drink specials. I always have a story to tell the day after!!
Review Source:Sharades is a no frills dive bar but I am a fan. The bartender is friggen awesome! She's so nice and always chats with us and gives us free drinks (always with the same top shelf liquors that we've had in our paid drinks) every time we go. Some might think the crowd is a lil hood but I myself don't mind that and find the crowd here cool. Superb music on the juke box and we always get it bumpin in here. There's a cool guy to play darts with (David I think) most nights I've been. They also have a couple of pool tables and there's always some guys to play with. They also have a boxing game to test your machismo (I can't be the only girl who likes to right?). Cool lil local dive bar, me likes.
Review Source:So me and my buddies have been driving on Mission road all the way up from Milpitas looking for a bar.
The tells for a dive are usually the same, a soft glow from a Tecate/Heineken/Budweiser neon sign, a group of motorcycles or cars in a parking lot that supposed to be empty because it's 10pm and all stores are closed. Â
So you can only imagine the excitement when my boys and I finally found these tells since we've been driving on Mission road all the way up from Milpitas. It's like walking through the desert all dehydrated and you finally see "Shar-Ade Cocktail lounge." in a light pink neon glow. Sweet.
Bust right in not knowing what to expect since no dives ever have windows. And we did, the crowd kinda looks Oakland side show, ghost ridin', hang out on International blvd -ish. But all good, past the point of no return and head strait to the bar and act like we belong minus the du-rags
The bartender, a mid-40ish year old Korean woman, about 4'12" with heels, super tiny, she could probably fit in a shoe box, absolutely the last person I would have expected to be running this joint was completely overseeing the bar without any problems calmly tells us and I quote,.... Â
"Leht mi seee yo eye-dee, i doh wahh no twubble"
I guess whatever she served in her kool-aid worked and her calming presence had everyone peaceful. Bloods and crips played pool together, the sun started shining at 10pm, Obama became president, etc. Â
Not a bad lil spot to check out while your in the area, also there is a soul food joint right next door that looks super good.
Oh my goodness....this place is an utter nightmare!! My roommates and I made the MISTAKE of going to this place one night for some late night drinks. When we walked in, there was only a handful of people in there and they were...lets just say special! Â There's a pool table in the back that and from what i could tell a back door going outside too.
I got attacked by this random, weird looking old guy who felt it was perfectly fine to come into my personal space. After walking away from him once, when i was ordering drinks he came back for a second chance! At that point my roommate and to tell him to back the eff up.
The best part was being told by one of the girls who works there that we can't hang as drinkers. We were on our first round of drinks and clearly NOT staying. Lol, my roommate made an excuse saying he was tired and she turned around and told us that she's a mother of 2 young kids, worked all day and was here all night hanging out and dancing - so if she wasn't tired we shouldn't complain. Ummm lady, why aren't you at home looking after your kids?!
You know, I've only really had one legal drink at this place. Â Shar-Ade was the place the corrupted me during my time at Cal State Hayward. Â Ffrom 1999 to good part of 2000 Shar-Ade was the place to be in Hayward for us college students.
Then they got into trouble for serving us under-21 people. Â And we didn't even have fake ID's.
Three stars for the memories, if it wasn't for that, this place would be pure sketch.
This is a quiet local bar with good drinks, friendly clientele and a wonderful staff. Check it out if you're in Hayward and looking for a nice place on the "down low." Â Â If you're hungry and enjoy soul food, stop at the restaurant next door for excellent prawns, catfish, and my favorite, hushpuppies.
