I love this place and have been coming here for years. I would have a heart attack if anything happened to this place. It has gone through many changes and it is looking better and better as the years go by. Song selection, if you look in the purple section there are some newer songs you just need to look :) and yes no Alcohol allowed but across the street is the Swinging Doors Bar, just go there before going to shout!

    ***Price***

We had three people, and sang in a small room for $25 per hour.

    ***Equipment***

The small room had two tambourines, and two wired microphones. Pretty clean, and their remote indicates, in English, the cancel button, queue button, and the play button. The red buttons on top of the keyboard are used to sort the songs by titles and artists. These red buttons also allow you to search for titles or artists.

    ***Song Selection***

The song selection was decent, but did not have some of the more recent popular song titles such as Thrift Shop.

    ***Drinks***

    No alcohol served here, sorry.

Probably THE CLEANEST karaoke place I've ever been too! At other places, most of the time the books are sticky and gross, but not here. Maybe b/c they don't serve food/drinks here? Drunk ppl can be pretty nasty...

Anyway, the list of songs are extensive and there were no glitches or delays for our selections. The price was also reasonable and we Gangnam styled with no shame in our private little room. We had a grand ol' time...totally sober!! Psssh who needs alcohol to have fun? That's just how we roll! I swear it's not b/c I'm getting old...no way...

This is another good karaoke place in the OC besides Plush Karaoke. It's not as fancy as Plush but it has good song selections in Korean and English. The music videos are hilarious and sometimes don't match the song, but you get to have fun nonetheless. ^_^

I don't go karaoke-ing often, but this spot has a pretty good feel! It is tucked in the back of the same plaza as Cream Pan, so there's plenty of parking if you come past 9ish. What's good about Shout is that it is really clean inside (from what I could tell) and they have a super extensive listing of songs in English, Korean, Chinese, Vietnamese, and Philippinese....yes, it says PHILIPPINESE!!!

Another cool addition is that they have a whole bunch of wigs you can use during your American Idol practice! I can't carry a tune one bit, but neither can a bunch of "singers" on the radio today. Giving me a wig to use makes me just as awesome a performer as some of them!!!

I took a star off my rating for Shout because they DO NOT ALLOW ALCOHOL. And if you're going to sneak some in, you'd better be slick, because there are large windows and glass doors the workers can look into!

After a change in ownership, the interior of the building looks a lot cleaner and newer. The songs are updated regularly and the lights in each room make it more lively when singing. This place is a lot cheaper than any other karaoke place in Irvine. The happy hour and all you can sing time frame is a great deal! Lots of parking space and had an overall great time. Microphone sometimes has problems but that problem can be easily fixed or ignored!

I come here sometimes after drinking at Baden Baden next door, but it closes early, which sucks.
They don't serve alcohol from what I remember but its cheap and right next door to Baden where you can drink.
It's got your typical Korean and English songs with the terrible background music videos that don't sync up.
It's a great cheap local karoke place, not as new and fancy as other places but get the job done.

I've been here many times before and I could say that this place is not the GREATEST but it's pretty decent. Their music choice compared to other karaoke places, such as PLUSH in Irvine, is not that great.

Also, I could see that they somewhat changed the place for they are not called J J Music Studio. They changed their karaoke room name. And they cleaned the rooms with newer music books. They also changed their microphones but they are not as great for you have to sing loud because the mics are not that strong.

And the prices somewhat changed for open times to 7 pm are happy hours with 50% off. But after 7 pm, you will have to pay full price for a specific room. For me, I do not go to karaoke after 7 pm so it's cool for me.

But I would recommend this place since it's cheaper than the other karaoke places around that area.

Holidays + get togethers + drinks = karaoke!  Being inspired by the holiday festivities have got my friends and I scoping out karaoke joints and shouting to our heart's desire!
So Saturday night we walk in where we're lead to a booth where there's ample room to sit and sing.  There are disco lights and strobe lights going on at all times and freakin tambourines! (Fantastic if you want to role play and have your friends be your back up...err yeah right!  I'm still perfecting my "Baby Got Back" lingo)
You know the place is decent when they have to remind you twice that they're closing.  More like remind you the first time then beg you to leave the second time hehe.
For local fun with fun friends I'd recommend it.
One star less is because they need to add some sort of menu, have more available drinks, and have more music selections.  Otherwise, for a quick option for amusement I'd check this place out.
I've been there twice already =)

I'd say this place offers a pretty decent (but not awesome) music selection for a decent price (about $25/hr).  Since there aren't too many karaoke joints in the Irvine/Tustin area, this is usually our go-to spot to sing our hearts out!

This has been my go-to place for karaoke since summertime. (June 2010)

My best friend Dalia chose this place since it's close to 1) Hondaya, her favorite Japanese restaurant to crash, 2) It's close to her house, 3) They're a little bit cheaper than PLUSH Karaoke.

It's Korean owned.  The lady running the place is sweet.  Recently on my last visit (Monday October 11th, for my birthday!!!) my friend and I noticed they changed their decor. It's very Grecian with lots of marble and columns. They also moved the beverage station to the back in the corner, down the hallway to the restrooms, and place all their wigs and accessories in a nice glass case, that's been built into the wall.

There's a variety of music to choose from. Although the most recent AMERICAN hits from the past 3 months are in the back of the book, hidden between the japanese, vietnamese, and korean popular songs.

***Disclaimer: This place tends to smell like cigarette smoke, so beware.  And whatever refresher she tries to use to cover it up, makes it smell worse sometimes.  lol.

Also, I LOVE the randomness of their videokis.  The songs do NOT match the videos what so ever.  And there's some crazy stuff going on those animated videos.  Like whoa!

I was singing a song about love when all of sudden it pans to some animated girl getting raped.  What the HELL? And why do all the guys die some ridiculously cheesy death? lol.  If you're not satisfied by your friends singing hilarious songs, the random corny, if violent, videos will score the entertainment deal for you. ;)

Clean and decent selection in music. No alcohol though but we all pretty much lost our voices so I guess we still made out ok.

Good times. Lost my voice. Decent selection of music but they didn't have my boy david f chois song west Virginia so I have to dock them a star. No booze and the place smelled like butter.

Being the asian I am, I decided to go karaoke for my birthday, and I'm SO glad that I picked J J Music Studio! Granted, I've never been to any other karaoke place, but I had a really awesome time here nonetheless.

I ended up getting their biggest room, and I think it was either 45 or 55 dollars an hour, but that's relatively inexpensive when you divide the costs among 15+ people. The smaller rooms are cheaper as well, so it works out, no matter the number of people who go to karaoke.

The music selection was pretty great, even though we only chose out of their English selection. I'm assuming that if you wanna go for Japanese and Korean songs, it would prove to be an even better experience, since they have more of that stuff. The background videos are super lame, which just escalates how entertaining the whole experience is haha. I personally would rather have their really lame, funny, fobby background videos over the real ones anyday hahah.

I will come back here again, because I have a "5 dollars off" coupon which expires soon. But even without the coupon, I would still come back. So yes, karaoke your hearts out here!

P.S. Don't bring alcohol unless you're really sneaky with it...but on the plus side, they'll return it to you at the end of the night anyways.

im not here to right a review. my parents own this place. my name is jeff nam, jj stands for jeff and jay (my younger brother) and im sorry about the no alcohol. we hav one in tustin too (our very first one) and we used to serve alcohol and one girl had to go to amublance and one person started throwing newspaper at our place, so no more alcohol. We're very sorry, but at least you guys know why we don't serve it. Oh and the idea of the music studio came from my mom and her older brother! My dad has a better job so he decided not to. lol.

I was looking for the perfect place to have a karaoke session for a group of 20+ people, and Yelp led me to JJ Music Studio! Let me just say...

    I'm glad that there's Yelp!

My experience here was awesome! Not only is the karaoke session cheap ($55/hour for a group of 20+), but the music selection is great! A good mix of new popular songs as well as old classics for songs in English.

I love the utilities they provide! Disco ball + wigs + two loud microphones = a good time! Drinks are also a reasonable price (water bottles for only $1, thank God), and the staff was pretty chill. The only thing I was iffy about was the smell (smelled like cigarettes the whole time) and the paying (cash only).

    Nevertheless, I'm definitely coming back.

This place is a lot of fun! It's easy to miss (if u r on El Camino Real look for Bally Fitness micro strip mall then park anywhere) and the sign is in Korean (from the reviews here I assume that is Korean). They have different size rooms. I did not make the reservation so I do not know what the prices are, sorry. We rented the largest room, which fits a good 25 people, for 4 hours. They have various lists of songs in various languages, Mandarin, Cantonese, Vietnamese, Korean, Japanese, and English. Each song has a number, when you decide what song you want to serenade your party with just punch it in. The remote is a very strange device, about 10x10 inches and built around 1993. I use UNIX all day but could not figure out the remote, someone else had to punch in the numbers. You can bring any snacks you want except soup. I don't know if they will let you in with beer.

The worst and best part is that the visuals that accompany the song don't match the theme! Weird at first but then it becomes funny. One of the girls in our party could actually sing really well and she sang a really nice, slow Mandarin song...with some Chinese hip hop group dancing shown in the monitor. So that was disconcerting. Another guy sang "Anarchy in the UK" accompanied by some countryside visuals and a Chinese boy playing guitar for his girlfriend. Totally went with a song from a group called The Sex Pistols. Then two girls sang Hey Jude with visuals of sexy girls in Lycra running around a track, surely what John and Paul had in mind when they wrote the song. That was actually pretty funny.

So if you know some people that can sing this place is a lot of fun with the caveat that the system is a little dated and the disconnect between the songs and the visuals.

I find it hilarious that I'm watching a dramatic skit on the screen while singing to a happy go lucky song.  Sometimes you just get so engrossed in what's happening to the characters you stop singing.  hehe.  This place is clean, friendly; the songs are plentiful, and they have happy hour before 7 p.m. ($25).  You've also gotta love a place that has neon colored wigs and tambourines that light up!  :)

how come i didn't know about this place before?! i was really surprised when i heard they had a korean karaoke place in TUSTIN...of all places.....
anyways, pretty random. but so glad we came!
we snuck alcohol in because really... sober karaoke isn't that fun...

they have a pretty good selection of songs and i think it was maybe $25/hr for our whole group...we were there from like 1-3:30 or something...i think they close at 4? oh! and they have tambourines that you can take into your room to use. and i think i saw wigs too but we didn't see those until after we were done....

the people that work here seem pretty nice. its korean owned so maybe it'd help if you had a korean friend with you.

as long as they have a few britney spears songs i can sing to, i'm happy.

the only thing i didnt appreciate was the drunk creeper waiting for the men's bathroom that kept giving me creepy looks and kept trying to talk to me.
    he wasn't any fun.

Music selection is kind of wack.  The great thing is a bar next to the place to get trashed to go singing, but the bar is wack, too, haha.

The real cool thing about this place is that it has the Numa Numa song.  I died laughing when I found this song in the foreign song section.

Sing, sing, sing to your heart's content!

If it's one thing I've learned from Korean Karaoke Bars, they're loads of fun especially if you're sobering up (or continue to be inebriated in the process). I came here one random night, with Chris E. and AI-C. After our drinking games next door at Baden-Baden we thought it would be wise, to get our Korean Pop stardom, under way and put our skills to the test.

99...93.....95....91....nothing ever lower than 91. We felt pretty damn good in our singing abilities, unfortunately like all mechanical Karaoke machines, slurring words and exaggerated high notes, we all are popstars Rain or Utada Hikaru (yeah right). Overall, decent times, I believe we spent at least a couple of dollars (don't recall the exact amount). And I lost a pair of glasses after our semi-sober episode, go figure.

There is no better way to sober up after a night of binge drinking at Honda-Ya or Baden Baden than to go sing your heart out at a KTV. JJ Music studios is clean, friendly, and within walking distance to both of these watering holes.

Their song selection is limited (mostly English, Korean, and Japanese) though, so I can't wail away with up to date Chinese songs. They are fairly up to date with English though, so its always fun to cheese out.

My only issue is that they don't serve alcohol. This is always a downer when you want to keep on being a rock star, but your buzz is going away. At this point, we usually take a break and go next door to Baden Baden for more soju. Good times!

I believe J J Music Studio is the only Korean Norehbang (Kareoke) place in the Irvine/Tustin area. Otherwise, you're probably going to have to drive to Garden Grove.

I have been here once with my family and cousins about a year ago and I remember that they had a really great surround system. Their system made me sound like a superstar. haha. Voice enhancements? The selection of songs they had was pretty decent and up to date. I believe the medium room is about $35/hr.

The location is kind of out of the way, but if you don't want to drive too far and want to have a great time, check this place out and prepare to sing your heart out!

Good times were had at JJ, which is not the easiest karaoke place to find in south OC.  But given the low number of karaoke spots around here, JJ is relatively convenient for Irvine and Tustin dwellers.  Prices are a little on the high side ($30/hr for medium room, $45/hr for large), but the rooms are decent, all equipped with flat screen displays and BMG speakers.

Song selection is definitely the most important thing for karoakes, and Korean readers will be happy with their constantly updating catalog, JJ being a Korean-owned place.  My Chinese and Vietnamese friends out there though, sorry, they just don't have many (old or new) songs.  My buds  and I usually do English, and they surprisingly have a decent amount of those.  The newest English songs they have are probably 6-month-old releases (like the Linkin Park song from Transformers, "What I've Done").  But cheesy classics are our taste (for karaoke anyway), and they've got all your Backstreet Boy and N'Sync and Maroon 5s.  No original music videos or instrumentals (but the covers are not super bad), which is a downer for hardcore karaokers, but you go to sing anyway, not to stare at the screen.  The combination of slow oldies and random Korean drama clips (often involving a fatal car accident followed by incessant crying) is high comedy.

Oh, one more thing:  no alcohol.  We brought a six-pack of Sam Adams, and the guy said no booze after we opened them, but was nice enough to give us styrofoam cups.  He said they had been visited by cops 3 times in the past.  Lol.
