Here's another situation where the .5 would be useful. The drinks are intoxicatingly good and strong, unfortunately that is not the same for their food, but they make-it-up for their decor and lovely waitresses.

Sidetrack is great for large groups, drinks, and finger foods. I would even dare to say, it's actually good for date night because they have these cozy nooks for privacy.

HORRIBLE service. I have bartended and worked in customer service for a long time, so I understand that there are times when you want to literally smack every single person who even looks in your direction. HOWEVER, it is your job to at least fake the funk and not transfer your issues onto me. I have never experienced such a rude staff in my life. The bartender very obviously did not want to be there and instead of being able to order my second drink (which very likely would have turned into 3 or 4), I waited 15 minutes for her to finally look my way and then turn back around. Since I was obviously ruining her chances of not doing anything I walked over to the other end of the bar where she was texting on her phone and asked for my check. When I got it, I noticed she double charged me - when I asked about it, she told me that is up to her what she charges. Got the manager, he shrugged his shoulders and walked back over to his coked out waiter. Awesome. Get it together, guys.

Had a small birthday party (35 people) here for my dad and rented the private party room in the back. One of the best party experiences we've had! Excellent hospitality and great, comfortable ambiance! The servers were so patient, fast and very nice. Mary, who helped book the party, was great and met our every need. Everyone loved the food. We had a menu selection of Potato & Leek Soup or Caesar Salad as appetizer, which I chose the soup and it was delicious! Then for Entree there was a selection for: Grilled Atlantic Salmon Filet, Portobello Mushroom Ravioli, Grilled Black Angus Sirloin Steak or the Side Tracks Chicken. I had the Salmon and it was perfectly grilled (not dry) crispy on the outside and moist inside served with roasted potato and green beans. Amazing. Then to top it off with the dessert menu was a selection of: Crème Brulee, Sorbet Selection, Cheesecake and Ice cream. I had the Crème Brulee. OMG! The BEST I've ever had. Believe me, I've tried quite a few. The dish was bigger than most servings of Crème Brulee that I've ever seen. Nicely crisp top and super tasty and creamy inside. It really exceeded my expectations. We were all very satisified and so full! Everyone I asked was very pleased with the food and service. It was worth every penny. I live around the neighborhood and I usually come here for drinks but now I will be craving for their food too! Will definitely think of them for other future parties and will recommend to friends. Looking forward to going there again soon.

Wow and not a good wow I had dinner at sidetracks a few years ago and the food and service was great.... But I just went there for a late lunch with my husband and what a fail! Let me start by saying it was a weekday at 4:30 way before dinner rush.My husband asked for the happy hour cocktail but was told NO that happy hours prices were only on the other side of the restaurant where the bar was, even though it was completely EMPTY and we were going to eat .... STRIKE 1.  I ordered from the prefixed menu the pork tenderloin which wasn't bad but not great either. With my meal I had a Cesar salad that said it came with shaved cheese but instead it was just regular grounded parmesan, but that's no biggie. The time between my salad and my entree was 30 minutes (sidenote when the food finally came out my salad plate was still on the table) STRIKE 2. Honestly the worse part was what little interest the waitress had in serving us she took FOREVER for everything and again not because they were busy there was only 2 tables occupied but instead she found it more important to gossip with the hostess. I can't even remember her face because the whole time all I saw was her back to us. My husband had to wave down a busboy so he could get her attention so we could get out check. The 2 stars was for decor I love the booths.

Came to Sidetracks over the weekend for dinner with my husband and friends visiting

I had to update my first review after the incredibly slow and inconsiderate service and the 50 minute wait for 2 burgers, quesadilla and chicken curry. During these 50 minutes the server never once came over to apologise/explain the delay or take a drinks order. We also had to bring our check up to the host to pay for our meal because the server dropped it and hadnt come back after 15 minutes. The quality of the food is very good, but not worth a wait of 50 minutes.

As a server myself I couldnt believe the poor standard of service from what used to be a great restaurant. Wont be back! There are much better places in the neighborhood.

Sidetracks, my poor, poor Sidetracks, what happened to you!?!?!?

I haven't been to Sidetracks since they remodeled years back, so it's been awhile. But I remember Sidetracks as a bar with horse racing, an island bar, cigarette smoke and serving hard drinks. Alas, all of that has changed.

I went out with a few friends to experience the new Sidetracks and was disappointed. It is very nice and clean, the service was on par for what I expect when I go out to a bar/restaurant, however the drinks were WATERED DOWN! My table was begging the waitress to ask the bartender to stop passing the bottles of liquor OVER the glasses and actually put liquor IN the glasses.

Our assorted appetizer plate came COLD and although we did eat what was on the plate, it was pretty much, FORGETTABLE!

I'm very sorry Sidetracks that you now cater to that Manhattan, uptight, everything must be new and drinks must be expensive and watered down to entertain me crowd. I wont be going back anytime soon.

    Meh. Unimpressed.

So unimpressed, no need for complete sentences. Food was meh. Salmon was dry and bland. Gave me the runs. Service was meh. Waiter was bored. Bar? Meh. Crowd was a joke. FULL of creepy old Hispanic men who wait until your boyfriend goes to the restroom to come over and, well, be creepy. MEH.

    Also, awful location. Unsightly neighborhood.

    That is all.

The hibachi grill on the appetizer section of the menu is like a protein pack for a body builder. An enormous portion of great meat, which is surprising considering that their specials are often times "Liver and Onions" (not actually sure that has ever been on the menu...just things to that effect) and "Shepherd's Pie." The sauces that come with it are great, too. Their salads and pizzas are quite satisfying as well. Drinks...are...strong! Yea! I get the pear martini and am quite impressed with the flavor as well as the usual outcome that follows a good, stiff drink.

I'm deducting a star because the place confuses me. There's an Irish vibe from the waiters, an Irish vibe from the specials (but not the actual menu) and a club after 10 vibe that doesn't make sense to me. I've never been there after 10 (lie...I was there for my 26th birthday with a friend...and don't remember anything) when it actually turns into a club, but I suspect that it morphs well? The interior of the place is nice, but the red lighting gives me cause to think that they break it down after midnight quite raucously.

We came here for a friend's bday celebration. Sidetracks is your typical dressed up bar food with tweaks here and there to make it appear more bistro like. Our waiter seemed rather bored and unenthusiastic but did his job. We had a few laughs when he came out belting his rendition of the bday tune. It sounded like *yawn* Happy Birthday ah..r...a....a... since he forgot our friend's name. He also gave remarks after taking our orders, "thaat's an xellent chooice or mojitos seem to the drink of the day" which was amusing given the atmosphere of the place. Our party was also informed that they now use only grade A steak. I had the pork shank that was recommended by the waiter as the hot cake item. It was a rather big shank bone  with some meat coming off served with mash potatoes. It was ok nothing amazing. Hub had their ink pasta with seafood. Word to the wise, I'm not sure if you order ink pasta at a bar but even if the ink did come off from an octopus, we wouldn't even be able to tell. One of our friend's friends even ordered their Hibachi grill which was just a modern plate with lit up flame underneath pot stickers of chicken, shrimp, etc. I had their mojito which was the only great thing at this place.

It turns into a semi club/lounge at 11:30pm which they play oldies, hip-hop, pop, and freestyle. If you want to avoid the cover charge, come for either drinks and stay. Their dance floor is a complete joke. They literally moved our table to the further end of the room so they can open up their "dance floor". So, there's basically a little space to do your 1, 2 step. Def much better atmosphere elsewhere.

    Let's talk food.

Nice size menu.  Most of the entrees will cost you about $20 with a few exceptions...(you'll be dropping $35 on a steak)

I sat down with about 15 people and we decided to order almost everything on the menu. The service was very attentive and all of the plates were portioned controlled and filling.

We had no complaints regarding the food and the drinks were about $7 a pop.  I'm a little biased to prices because I think $20 is standard for dinner.  You should be prepared to spend at least that much for a good meal.  But not all meals are worth $20.  Shrimp Scampi with some broccoli and a half cup of rice? Sure.  A cheese Quesadilla? No way.  That cost $5 EVERYWHERE.

If you are dining on a popular party day (thursday - Saturday night), your intimate party will turn loud in a hurry.  The staff will try to hurry you along so they can move the tables or end their shift.

Overall, I would eat here again but I'm not going out of my way to make this a must-dine spot.

I hope they bring back the 4 appetizer and 2 glasses of wine happy hour special ($27). It was on par with many great deals throughout the neighborhood. It was definitely an incentive to go there on Monday-Wednesday after work.

We went here for happy hour yesterday and it was pretty good - $5 glasses of wine (I had chardonnay- not the best I've ever had, but definitely decent) and $4-$5 specials on beer and specialty martinis as well.  We are still getting used to NY prices but $5 for a glass of wine on happy hour is definitely comparable to lots of bars in Mpls.  Also, happy hour goes from 4-8pm, which is awesome and way longer than any happy hour I've ever been to!  The service was very nice and prompt and the bar was not busy at all, surprisingly.  My only complaint was that a woman came in with four small children and they were screaming the entire time across the restaurant (not in the bar area), but that's not the restaurants fault.  We ordered the fries with curry sauce to snack on and they were tasty.  I give the four stars because I also ate here for brunch last weekend, and the poached salmon with arugula and horseradish vinaigrette is absolutely fantastic.  At $15 it's by no means an inexpensive brunch entree, but they do throw in a complimentary mimosa or bloody mary.  I don't think anything else on the menu was more than $15, so you could definitely get out of there for less.  It's the kind of meal that I'll crave again in the near future, so I'll definitely be back.

I came in here on a Thursday night. Thursday night is the NIGHT! Well, I don't know about the other nights but Thursday is def a good one.
We paid 15$ cover and open bar from 11:30 to 1:30..
The bar tenders were very busy making drinks but still didn't ignore me. Love them for that,

How are the drinks you ask?? WONDERFUL! Everything tasted lovely and these are decent sized drinks and not watered down like some other spots do when its open bar.

The music is pretty good. Perfect mix of top 40, house, and some reggae. Had a blast and a half with my girls and would totally come back.

And I found parking right around the block. Not bad at all.

I just wish Sunnyside wasn't so gosh darn far.

I knew there was a reason I always avoided this spot.

Food is a 2 out of 5 but they have a fun bar area w/a bunch of flatscreens. The owner/manager is a total prick and talks down to women (think he may be Russian?) his attitude alone prevents me from going in here. Would use his full name but don't know it

Good for drunk men, bad for any chick that wants to have a good time

Whereas other bars might have been a little stingy on the alcohol during Sunnyside Santathon, I think Sidetracks was trying to kill my friend Deidre. I know my $3 Rum and Cokes were strong, but I'm now convinced a sip of her Vodka Tonic is why I was wasted by the time I got to my second bar.
Ah, I get it now.... The bartenders at Sidetracks are smart. No need to bar crawl when you can get completely blotto in one spot.
I will be coming back Sidetracks bartenders. And I will be expecting heavy handed pours from now on.

I find this place hard to review.

While Sunnyside is home to a couple of more upscale bars (Claret for instance), this is really the only quasi-"cool" place in Sunnyside. By cool I mean a little dressy and fun... a party place. They make a great cocktail, and if you want to get a little dressed up and dance on a Saturday night with unpretentious but fun people its a great place to go. It's a great place to meet people. Staff is always friendly, and the crowd is always friendly too. I always leave there having met someone new.

On the downside the food is borderline awful. I keep on trying the food HOPING to find something I like but haven't found anything yet. Plus by Queens bar standards the food isn't cheap.

But really, if they brought their food up to par, they'd arguably be the most fun place in Queens. I definitely recommend it for a night out, but there's much, much, much better food to be found really anywhere in Sunnyside.

Not impressed...ate here since I was in the neighborhood and it was a cold night so I didn't want to travel far.

Had the shepherd's pie which sounded like a basic comfort food meal. Was too salty (seems to be a trend at restaurants in my recent experience)...was so salty I could only eat half & took the rest home for leftovers. Wouldn't order it again.

One friend had a fish entree and liked it. Another had sweet potato fries with her dish & I enjoyed some.

Overall I wouldn't rush back any time soon.

    Nice ambiance.

I have been here a few times and they have great happy hour specials but sometimes finding a seat can be tough. The problem that I have with the place is that the bar service is pretty terrible. Even when it's not crowded, I have problems getting a drink at the bar.

Went for Saturday brunch recently with my older parents and our two young children. We went at 11am, MUCH too early for most brunchers, since my folks eat early and so do the kids. It was quiet, comfortable and the food was very good. The decor is nice and the music wasn't too loud. (These are all good things when you go with elderly people or young children.) The table we sat at had a chair that had cigarette burn but it was otherwise comfortable, everything else was new and looked good.

What's not good about getting sidetracked with liquor, food and bright lights? I think the name and decor doesn't really set a tone for anything specific, rather a mix of a lounge, restaurant and sports bar mixed into one. The dining area is on one half, while the bar like set up is on the other side. Anything outstanding or awesome about this place, yes if you're a local that doesn't want to travel into Manhattan or further for a drink and little tad of the nightlife. No, if you're looking for a popping Saturday night. People have fun here but it's no rave. It's a great place to socialize with friends.

I been here enough times, not to call it my local spot, but enough to say yeah I know Sidetrack. The food is pretty good, we usually stick with something fried, wrapped or has a Tex-Mex name to it... bar food... never experienced the restaurant side of it. We just never deemed it as a restaurant, though it is. The drinks come as fancy as you like, from tap or bottled. I think their cocktails are strong enough or I just go with a Guinness. We come for the after work drinks and small social events like farewell parties or a low key birthday falling on a Monday. This place is good for that. Get your drink and grub on without anything wild.

The server staff is on key, nice neat attire and they will come around enough to see what you need. Most of the time. I remember once a waitress actually took some time to socially have a light conversation about other than what's on the menu. The menu is fairly priced and drinks priced right as well.

    Come here for:

    1-Liquor
    2-Music
3-Televisions when attention span or communication level goes low
    4-Average Food
    5-Socialize w. all above
    6-More liquor

Four stars because of decor and nice place to have a good time.
    Happy Cinco De Mayo!

Now I understand the low reviews.  Again, GREAT friendly hostess.  We sat at a table this time and I wish we hadn't.  We had the most unattentive waitress!  Which in the end was worse for her than myself and fellow diners.  I was really sad because I rave about this place.  Our waitress stood just out of ears reach at the bar chatting with two other guys while we envied the table behind us with a fabulous waitor.  I was SO thirsty, wanted this or that and didn't get any of it.  Sigh...

The food was still up to my standards and the prices extremely reasonable.  I just wish they had a better wait staff.  The one time she paid attention I asked to wrap up my leftovers and she told the bus boy- who was running around the dining area doing a FABULOUS job.  I wish I could hand him her tip!!

Growing up, this was always one of my favorite places to get a drink, and meet with friends.  They had a dance floor, the place was always busy, and it was always close to home.  They changed the layout and made it more of a restaurant than the bar it was many years ago.  I missed those fun nights of dancing, having drinks, and staying out not far from home.

Went all the way to Sunnyside Queens to meet with my brother and sister for some drinks.

Really nice play. Cool spot to got for a couple drinks with friends but romantic enough to go for a date.

The only thing we had to eat at Sidetrack were the fries which were really good and Meatballs with Mushrooms. It was really good.

By the end of the night we were all really drunk. Will def go back.

DO NOT GO HERE!!!!! ATTENTION!!!!!!!  SPARE YOURSELF!!!!!!!

I went here about a year ago but didnt have a yelp account then. Now that I do...

I found a Cigarette Butt in my pulled pork sandwhich in my LAST BITE OF THE SANDWICH!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

It was covered in bbq sauce cooked righ into the food. It was about a half smoked down cigarette with no tobacco in the remaining part... which means the tobacco was cooked into it and I ate it!!!!  I almost swollowed the filter part!!!!!!!!!!! Seriously, nasty!! I actually began to gag in the restaurant at how disgusting it was.

It get's better... When I told management, he checked with with the cooks and ALL HE CAME BACK AND SAID was, "well no one back there smokes so they don't know how it got in there." Then he just looked at me like an idiot.

Then after I spoke a few not-so-nice words, he said, "OK we will take that off the check".

UMmmmmmmm, shouldn't he be afraid I am going to complain to the BBB or something??? He seemed to think that taking a $7 item off the check would be enough for me eating someones cigarette that for all I know was fresh off the sidewalk or something, peed on by some dog... WHO KNOWS!

So, I asssured him there would be no check as I was not paying for a single thing!!! and then stormed out.

Disgusting. Spare yourself on the gag-reflex that this place will give you.

I had the Irish breakfast ...with Blood Sausage which I thought "ohh here we go, ew"; ...but no it was delicious! Go me for trying something new :D I wish they had more of an attention span with us, especially when it was not really busy that day.

Brunch is awesome. I feel like I am in a hotel restaurant -- in a good way. It's a very standard fare, basic, no surprises, no cheats. Sometimes you need that for brunch.  It's not gourmet or anything, but it's not gross either like most diners in the neighborhood.

The brunch menu is full and huge, and cheap -- they even have Asian beef noodle salad and Irish breakfast if you like your meats. Plus a free mimosa/blood Mary. And they do EGG WHITES.

The only issue that bugs me is that it's really dark inside. For brunch, I just don't want to feel sleepy.

I came here for the third time this past Thursday, and after that, my whole outlook of Sidetracks has changed. Before this experience I would have said sidetracks is a good, relaxed placed to come watch some games, drinks some beers (great specials during football games), nice place for happy hour with friends, (again good drink specials)..... but it wasn't until a devilish Thursday that I realized that I hate yet love Sidetracks!

Every Thursday night, Sidetracks has an open bar from 11pm to 2am (or 1am... the night is so blurry) for $20 for girls, I think maybe $25 for guys. Anyways... it is mayhem! Mayhem! Now you would think it's a great deal, $20 for open bar...sign me up! Well no, its not, it sucks! I spent the entire time trying to get drinks! You are literally at the bar for like 20-30 minutes trying to get a bartender's attention, and at this point I'm asking for as many drinks as I can carry because I don't have the patience to wait another 30 minutes for a drink. Sidetracks please hire more bartenders! You should have at least 6 taking care of the bar, it's simply ridiculous.

Other than that, which is EXTREMELY irritating, the music is great, the place is packed, and I had a great time. This applies to Thursday nights after 11pm, any other day, Sidetracks is pretty much ok. Thursday nights are definitely where the party is at!

This place has a big space, location within sight of 46th street subway station, and recent renovation on the inside (at least you know everything is clean.)

It has a lot of potential, but is a bit schizo.  That is somewhat understandable given the mixed nature of the neighborhood, but Sidetracks seems to have lost its identity.

There is a full kitchen, and they are one of the only non-diner brunch places around, but the food is mediocre at best.  I would avoid the brunch.

On any given evening, you may find a sports bar (the place has lots of TVs, which are usually showing multiple sporting events), an irish pub, or a guido dance-rave.

This place is a good option if you have a large group of people, or if you just want to see some northwestern Queens fauna in its natural habitat.

I had some high hopes when Sheryl and I wandered in here one semi-rainy semi-gross night for a glass of wine and a snack. It looked very nice from the outside...and the inside looked promising too. I was slightly confused by the bouncer at 8pm on a weekday, but whatever.

We grabbed a table, and waited. And waited. And finally the waitress came by and we basically had to tackle her to give her our order (2 glasses of wine, 1 order calamari, not exactly brain surgery). The wine was definitely a stingy pour, but the calamari was quite excellent.

Service was amazing...and not in a good way. After our waitress brought us our wine, she didn't reappear at all. I wanted to get a second glass of wine, but apparently they didn't want my money. Instead, when we finally flagged her down, she tried to take away my calamari! Now, honestly, there wasn't much left. But shouldn't you at least ask if I am done before you start grabbing food out of my hands? I am not one to go down without a fight though...I demanded my food back and she complied. And then brought us the check. OK, got it, you want us to go.

I know we were just there for a quick drink and a bite and wearing jeans and such, and there's this big club party there in the evening, but come on. It was probably around 930pm when we left, and there was a velvet rope and the beginnings of a line outside. What on earth? Where on earth were we, and was it really in Sunnyside? And who goes to stand in line in the rain all decked out on Queens Boulevard at 930pm on a weekday? Really?

Seriously, one extra star for having some really good calamari (tentacles make my heart sing, what can I say) but otherwise, what the heck? HOT MESS. That's all.

PS - kudos to the drunkest girl ever who fell not just once, but twice, while trying to get her drunk self to the bathroom...which was right next to their table. Wowza.

Sidetracks probably deserves more than an A-OK. But I can't quite say that I'm a fan. The impression I had gotten from Yelp reviews was that it would be a lounge-y place with poor service..and as such, I wasn't expecting much from the food.

But actually, everything we ordered was pretty good and really not bad at all. We started with the mussel appetizer and cheese fondue for two. I was never a big fan of cheese, but i loved the fondue! I guess there's something about dipping stuff into hot cheese that makes it irresistible. The mussels were also good - a bit on the small side - but still good and the white wine sauce was excellent for more dipping.

We had the fish and chips, the shepherd's pie, and the pork chop. The portions were huge and I was only able to finish about a third of my shepherd's pie probably because of all that pre-entree bread-dipping. And as we were all stuffed after our entrees, we skipped dessert - much to  my disappointment.

But all in all, it was a nice evening. And our waiter was actually very attentive. Constantly "refreshing" our water, as he had put it.. and checking up on us several times during our meal. And I'm not sure I've ever heard a waiter utter as many thank you's as ours had done that night.

If I could give this place negative stars, I would.  This place does not know what it is or what it wants to be.  The decor was done well and you would expect the food to match this.  It does not.  Spruced up diner food at best.  Dance Party USA at night with a bouncer?  You're kidding right?  This is Sunnyside.  Why anyone in their right mind would wait in line to get in this place is beyond me.  The drinks are cheaper at pretty much every other bar in the area and the crowd 10x more pleasant.  Careful when you start a tab...the bartender may mysteriously lose your credit card.

Don't let the remodel fool you.  The place is complete shite.

Thank god for new and better management, Sidetracks looks fresh, from the new seats, new tables, new bars, new layout, it now looks modernized.

I was here last month for a baby shower and my jaw dropped when I walked inside, I couldn't believe how nice it looked inside. For the baby shower there was a three course meal, it was my very first time to to try their food out and it was delicious. I forgot the names of what I got but appetizer was shrimp something, entree was steak (sooooo good) and dessert was the cake (parents to be bought it from jersey) ice cream and coffee.

I was very very pleased with everything. The servers were very attentive, even though I came in super late (party was at 1 and since I run on filipino time lol I was there at 3 =X. ) my food still came in time to eat with everyone else.  I'm definitely going to go back for dinner one night.

I stumbled into this place on a Tuesday to grab some dinner. The place had a trendy decor and seemed kind of empty maybe it was due to the day of the week. Sidetracks seems like more of a place to have drinks than dine at. Anyways, on to the food ...

For an appetizer, I had the lobster ravioli with calamari. This dish wasn't bad. You can taste they had fresh seafood and the lobster was in chunks and not blended up.

For the main course, I had the black pepper and egg fettucine with shrimp and scallops. Again the seafood was fresh and the scallops were huge on this dish. The pasta was average and didn't like the lemon in it.

The service is not really existent here. No greetings or thank yous as we came and left the place. Our waitress only stopped by to take our order and to give us our check. I'm not sure where she was since there wasn't too many customers ... maybe taking a nap. Our dishes were served by the bus boys and I wasn't even offered any pepper or grated cheese on my pasta. Just the overall feeling was kinda cold/rude.

Entrees range around $14 - $32. I don't think I'd purposely come back here. But I think only come here as a Plan C and you happen to be in Sunnyside.

    This place is absolutely horrible.
I felt like I was in a jail filled with hood-rats and John Gotti imitators.

What the hell is going on here?

After 8 p.m. I felt like I had to look over my shoulder at all times.

Just to make matters even better, someone stole my coat from the check in.
    Worthless place!
    Never again.
PS make sure you have tums or zantac.
    Dining is a nightmare.
