I happen to drive lots coming from Roger's Park down to Garfield Ridge. As I curse myself for never moving more north, I try to find shortcuts. Well, driving down 90/94 I took a shortcut bypassing the Stevenson and took Ogden to go home.
I used to pass this little gem nearly everyday for a solid 3 years without giving it much though. I missed out.
No, this is not THE Skylark that everyone raves about. No it does not have the chic of having a young fanbase as well. Here, you'll get the warehouse workers, truckers, people who are passing time while they do their laundry across the street, or those that need to piss. Me? Intrigue brought me with people watching keeping me on the worn barstools.
I kept to my High Life bottles, I'd rather not worry about a glass passing my washing test and I didn't wanna attract more attention to myself- I had worn khakis that day and was not in the mood to change to the 511s I carry with me. It seemed like a whole bunch of regulars, perhaps co-workers, but they were solid.
So why the three stars? First, parking is quite the pain. This is at the corner of Pulaski and Ogden. Can't park on Ogden and good luck finding a spot on Pulaski. Luckily, as I was vulturing, I got one. George Costanza would be jealous. I guess other people were too since I was nicked from the back (insert innuendo....here), but nothing to cry about.
I would come back. Just not in khakis.
