Sockeye Grill & Brewery

Went looking for a sports bar and wanted to hit a local spot and Yelp showed us this place. We hit it during a Boise State tourney BB game and it was packed. Our server was pleasant and attentive, she recommended a good beer from their brewery so that was great but she wasn't very helpful with food choices. We found out why when y our food arrived and It was mediocre at best. Overall, I liked the bar but the lack of quality food will probably make me choose another establishment next time.

Went here last night.  We really enjoyed it and the service was great, so I felt obligated to write a review.  I am going to separate this review into 2 sections.

Beer:  5 Stars. The beer selection is outstanding.  I was impressed with all of the beer.  My wife and I shared the beer sampler, so we got to try everything.  To me this is the best brewery in the treasure valley.  The cask beer they currently have is especially delicious.   I will be back for the brews for sure.

Food: 3.5 stars.  My wife and I both enjoyed the food.  The quality of the food isn't an issue.  We especially liked the sweet potato fry's and the hot wings are very good as well.  I was pleased to find that they make their own blue cheese.  My only problem is that I feel that the menu is too safe for my taste.  I understand that it's supposed to be more of a grill, but it feels like a pub, so I would love to see more pub classics on the menu such as (but not limited to);  jagerschnitzel,  Homemade Mac and Cheese, Shepard's Pie,  Chicken Pot Pie, and Short Ribs.  That being said, I did like seeing things like fish tacos and other salmon dishes on the menu.  Again this isn't a knock on the existing food, it just feels "safe", to me it seemed like everything either came on a bun or in a wrap.

Solid 4 stars,  I will be back a lot.

Beer is decent food is just bar food....service very good but the customers are great met some good folks here..
