This is a local bar. Â They always have great drink specials, and a wide variety of people. Â It's a great local place to get a drink or get together with friends. Â This is a good old fashioned bar, so it's a great place to meet up with some friend and catch up. Â I would recomment this bar for a drink or two if you are in the area. Â The prices are always great!!!
Review Source:I do trivia here every Wednesday Night at 7:30. Trivia is free to play, first prize is $40, second is $20, third is $10.
The crowd varies from 25-40 people. However, we always have space for more. We generally do drink specials ($3 shots on wednesday).
The food is run separately from the the bar, by La Bella Luna which is the same Kitchen as Tomaso's in Edgewater. The beer is very well priced with the mixed drinks being relevantly priced.
Also a DJ comes on Friday and Saturday Evenings.
Back in the day there was a place called East Street Cafe in Palisades Park. Without a doubt the best Buffalo Chicken Wings in the universe. They also made a great burger, magnificent Chicken Francais and a host of other delicious delectables.
It was a sad day some 8 or 9 years ago when East Street closed its doors for good. Â I thought I would never partake of those glorious chicken wings again. I was morose!
Then I was informed that George, the co-owner/cook from East Street had opened a place called Scarborough Fair in Fairview. Â Turns out George continued the tradition of Buffalo Wings and other fine comestibles that I thought were lost forever.
Scarborough Fair became Sparky's a few years back and although George is no longer there, Nick the cook continues the fine culinary legacy that was at one time a 2-3 times a week tradition for me.
So I recently visited Sparkys for an order of Chicken Wings. Although a slight bit saltier than I remember them they were crispy and delicious with just the right amount of bite in the sauce. Â I also ordered the Chicken Francais which was quite good but perhaps a little heavier than I remember from the past.
The bread, as always, is warm and crispy. They still have the Italian Snack which is an appetizer of toasty bread, Â authentic genoa salami, and sharp provolone cheese.
The only disappointed was the last time I ordered a burger there it was on a traditional bun with traditional french fries. And although it was quite good I miss the days of the East Street burger.
They used to serve their burgers on a toasted Thomas' English muffin with Waffle fries. One of the best burgers ever. Â Dip the burger in the buffalo sauce and you are in cardiac heaven!!
So I give 4 stars to Sparky's for keeping the legacy alive. Â A warm and cozy atmospher with Great Wings and excellent food,. If they bring back the English muffin burger perhaps I will throw the extra star in. Â But it's got to be Thomas'!!
