Specialty's Cafe & Bakery

525 W. Monroe--a well remembered address--I worked at the location when IBM had an office there...  it was a pleasure to go to the Cafe Bakery.

I have loved everything I've gotten at Specialties, seriously.  This place is a pricier lunch option but man, it is so worth it.  The salads are great.  I've gotten the vegan one and added chicken making a non-dairy haven of a lunch.  I've also gotten the roast beef, club, and turkey, bacon apple and brie (but no brie) sandwiches.  Both are delicious and the bread at Specialities is really top notch. Fluffy but hearty.  Droool.  And their soups!  There seems to always be a vegan option which I totally appreciate.  And they are really tasty chilli and bean soups.  

Also, I appreciate the staff there.  It's a very busy lunch spot, but it usually is a well-oiled machine of ordering and then getting your order.  They have yet to mess mine up, knock wood.

Great ordering options and very good cookies, but the sandwiches are just average. I had the turkey and cranberry that should have been awesome, but ended up being bland.
