We had dine-in the other night - decor inside is casual and nice. Â Veggie tempura for appetizer, didn't seem like we got much for our 6 bucks. Â No kids menu, but our 4 year old liked the pad se-lew noodles and chicken. Â I had panang curry with chicken, my wife had green curry with tofu, they were both good, mild spice level is fine by me. Â Had enough curry leftover to make another meal, although we had to pay for extra rice.
Review Source:How could you not like a place with a name like this? Â I mean, it begs to be loved.
Anyway, we live by this joint now and we've been in for the dine-in experience as well as ordered delivery. Â I've been quite happy with both. Â When we eat at the restaurant, everyone that works there is super happy... Â And I mean, like, over the top awesome happy. Â It's great. Â If you need a mood booster, pop on in and they'll make you feel awesome with all of the happy service and happy goodbye's. Â
But on to the food. Â It's decent. Â I usually either have Panang Curry or Pork Fried Rice. Â Both are just fine with me. Â I generally like my pork fried rice to have more spicy/seasoning on the pork, but other than that I generally wolf everything down and leave happy.
So, I'd say if you live nearby you definitely can't go wrong rolling in for a bite.
This place is relatively close to our new house and every time Nick and I would pass it I thought it was a Mexican restaurant. I'm not sure why, but the green awning from a side view as you're driving 30 mph gives me that impression. But, it's not a Mexican place; instead it's several varieties of Asian food in an atmosphere I really like. Eating here is kind of like eating traditional American food in a diner - it's comfortable. The servers are nice, but all business. The booths are simple. The menu is straightforward.
I ordered crab cheese wontons to start my meal and they were just what I was hoping for - crispy fried goodness. Sometimes you can get not enough filling and sometimes you get too much, but just like Goldilocks I found these just right. For dinner I opted for Sesame Chicken with brown rice. On a purely aesthetic note, my rice came shaped like a heart, which make me ooh and ahh. And the portion was so large it made three meals for me.
I'm definitely a fan of eating at Spicy Thai and I can't wait until I can sample some of the sushi here and see if I like the Sushi Wow portion of the menu, too.
Okay despite Lindsay B and I going here together I'm not sure I share her opinion on this joint. I though the Pad Thai to be kind of bland and there didn't seem to be a choice on spicy level. No one likes overly spicy pad Thai but not spicy at all also sucks. Then we ordered something else that was like spicy thai peanut which sounded super awesome, but is that frozen sweet potato fries in there? I took like 3 bites and then pushed the rest into the box, luckily Lindsay ate the rest of it.
Good but not great, may be be back maybe not.
I would love to give Spicy Thai II five stars because it's such an important part of the neighborhood but I can't. Â The interior of the restaurant is very nice but we typically have our food delivered and it's consistenly just OK. We almost always have Crispy Spring Rolls, Summer Rolls, Fried Dumplings, Thai Basil Shrimp, Seasame Chicken and Veggie Lo Mein. Â Occassionally we'll do a California roll. Â Anytime we go outside of these well tested items we are very diappointed. Â They have a wonderful sounding sushi roll menu but I've been disapointed with all the more creative options. Â Their spicy tuna rolls have a down right strange texture. I've not been willing to try any sashimi.
We'll keep eating here because we want to support the neighborhood joint, but I really wish they could up their game to be more consistenly great as opposed to just average.
Wow, my experience was not consistent at all with the other reviews. Â
Went here for dinner on a Sunday night after our 1st and 2nd choices were too busy. Â The place is dimly lit, and is kind of run down looking inside. Â
I ordered a beer and the waiter brought me a bottle that was broken on the neck and lip. Â How I didn't get severely cut, I have no idea. Â Unfortunately, that was the most interesting point of the meal.
We ordered the Coconut Milk Soup, Chicken Satay, and some Panang Curry, hopeful that by sticking with the basics we would be okay. Â In a word, the food was terrible. Â The soup was tasteless, watery and would not pass for cafeteria food. Â The Satay was comprised of huge thick chicken pieces that were cooked just shy of shoe leather, while the "peanut sauce" tasted like cheap peanut butter mixed with water. Â The Panang Curry was similarly disappointing, no taste, no heat and not appetizing at all. Â But hey, at least the white rice was okay. Â We barely touched our food and quickly paid our check and left. Â
Terrible experience, won't ever return. Â BTW, this visit confirms a hypothesis I've long held: Â When you go to a restaurant that is supposed to be oriented on one cuisine but they have have a mish-mash of menu items from other cuisines, simply walk away. Â Spicy Thai II has some Thai, some Sushi, some Teriyaki, and some Chinese (Kung Pao Chicken? Â Really?). Â Clearly they don't do Thai well, maybe they should focus on just trying to get that right....
This is where my husband and I go when we're too lazy to cook, which isn't very often. Since we love food and love to cook, it says a lot for us to choose a place in such a sketchy area as one of our favorites as a regular go-to.
Each time we go, we are greeted with very friendly and quick service, regardless of how many people are in our party. We even went on Valentine's Day this year and with no reservation we were able to get in rather quickly and although they were busy, the service was not as delayed as we thought it might be.
The range of food is really good, and the pricing is also quite reasonable, especially for their sushi.
They do have a very busy delivery business for sure. Regardless of the time of day you place a delivery order, they tend to say it will take about 45 minutes, and on the average it does. As far as placing orders for delivery is concerned, I would recommend that if you do live relatively close, (Park Hill, Northeast Park Hill or Stapleton), that you go to pick it up instead. Since it does take them a bit longer to get to you when they deliver, you're better off going in to get it because the wait time is much less.
If a restaurant called Jett didn't exist right around the corner, this would be my local favorite and would garner 4 stars. Â It's one of those establishments you wish you could award the extra half star to. Â
I agree with Larissa M, it's "affordable, very consistent food." Â Everything is tasty, the staff is always friendly, and we've had 6 people at our table and they've been great. Â It's not the best setting for a dreamy romantic evening out, but it is perfect for grabbing a tasty meal in a timely fashion in a nice ambiance. Â
I haven't had the sushi here yet...but the pad thai and some of the other dishes were pretty tasty!
Important: Department of Health violations that might lead one to avoid the sushi... or in fact, the whole place.

This review is only reflective of the non-sushi portion of the menu. Based on my other experiences here, I am not inclined to order sushi.
I live in the neighborhood. Have been here about three or four times to dine in or take out. Â
As a matter of fact, I brought my parents here last time they were in town and ordered a roll so they could say they had eaten sushi (midwesterners).
I ordered the Jalapeno Steak once- it was fine.
All in all, this place is ok. Recently I have ordered a couple dishes and been disappointed. They are wavering between 2 and 2.5 but honestly I think I'm gonna drive a little farther down Colfax and find another Thai place.
Went there with a friend a couple weeks back and got
the Thai Curry Noodles-
"The best peanut curry noodles for lovers of spicy food. It
employs a wonderful flavored gravy, beautifully mixed w/
bell peppers, red onion, scallion, asparagus, shrimp & chicken."
$9.50. What was delivered was a bowl of thick noodles in near gloppy peanut butter sauce. Â There was a good amount of sliced chicken breast, and then a very scant smattering of the other ingredients.
I think there was a single shrimp in the dish, but that is not my main complaint. My main complaint is that I paid ten dollars for some thick noodles and some slices of chicken, and not much else.
If I was going to order this again, I guess maybe I would ask for 'more vegetables', but the fact that I have to really makes me feel like they are bulking up the plate with the noodles and saving the expensive stuff on purpose. But, asparagus and red peppers and onions aren't that expensive.
The sauce really tasted like peanut butter and not much else. And to echo other reviewers and experiences I've had here - the dish was NOT SPICY AT ALL. Their menu has peppers next to a number of dishes, but to my palette they are not just dialing it back, but turning it off. And they didn't ask how spicy.
I'm going to try and make some thai peanut sauce from a recipe on the web and see how it compares.
As my friend recently commented on the way out of a restaurant "I think I was racially profiled".
Affordable, very consistent food.
Friends and I go at least twice a month, and the lone male server has our regular orders down. Â The place is very friendly, and great about splitting the check, even for larger groups. Â I once left my take out container on the table, and a nice lady walked outside and handed them to me. Such wonderful service. They always have the TV on with something hilarious, such as soap operas or TruTV, which is entertaining, but not distracting because they use closed captioning.
Potstickers are good, but not actually potstickers, they are deep fried dumplings. They are available steamed, but the wrapper is very thick, and it's better to just eat the fried food. Calamari was fresh and  the few times we've ordered it, and the dipping sauces are both delicious. Crab Wontons have a nice ratio of crab to cream cheese.
Lunch is cheap and comes with a mini salad that has a tasty dressing but is usually all the core crispy parts of the leaf. Also included in lunch is your choice of white or brown rice (no extra charge for brown rice!) and a veggie egg roll. Lunch portions are perfect, not too big. Dinner just comes with rice, but a huge pile of whatever you ordered, and I always end up taking some leftovers home.
BF always orders the Golden Pork Chop, with extra tonkatsu sauce (extra sauce charge $1.50), I tend to order the lemongrass chicken or the beef with broccoli and a roll or two. Â Meat is always tender, never tough, and the veggies are fresh.
Drunken noodle, pad se-lew, and lo mein are very tasty, if a little safe. Â The only sad part is on their menu it says to ask if you don't see your favorite dish, and they didn't have pan fried noodle.
Sushi rolls are cheap and huge. The Dynamite roll is massive. They cut it into 5 pieces which always strikes me as odd, but whatever, it has eel sauce and it's deep fried. Â Standards such as spicy tuna are good.
Overall a cute little jem in a strip mall, within walking distance, with delivery and a full bar.
One of the two Thai places in Denver we go to. (The other one is Spicy Basil on Broadway.)
The Chicken Cocunut soup is more authentically Thai, and since we always get it it's an easy dish to base the rest of the meal from. They usually don't just throw the spicy oil on if you ask for it to be extra spicy (unless it's the main chef's night off) which many Thai restaurants do. Â The flavors are there, and though it's not a 5 star thai dining experience, it's pretty decent for a fast thai fix, and possibly one of the two best in Denver if you like your curry.
Yesterday afternoon, one of my co-workers tossed Spicy Thai II's menu on my desk when he came in with the mail. Â Knowing my love of Asian food, he figured I'd like to have it. Â They had me at free delivery... then they had me again at the extensive menu selection including Thai, Japenese and Chinese dishes. Â I decided yesterday that I absolutely must order lunch from this place today!
I picked the Pad Thai noodles, #4 spice level (they go up to 6) and I've gotta tell you, these noodles are making me, a spice connoisseur, sweat a little bit. Â It's GREAT! Â The noodles do seem to be a tad bit under seasoned, but they are pretty darn good! Â I also ordered a spicy salmon roll. Â Spicy Thai has a $12 minimum order, so I had to pick something else small to meet the requirement. Â It's not the best sushi I've ever had, but it's good. Â The most disappointing part, is there are so many chili seeds in my Pad Thai that I am constantly picking them out of my mouth. Â I guess it's the price I have to pay for eating spicy food, but isn't there a better way to add spice to a dish?
After my food arrived, my co-workers wanted the menu so they could order too. Â Looks like the delivery guy is making another trip over here! Â Overall, 4 stars. Â It's FABULOUS that I can get food like this delivered to the office. Â But it is pricey so I doubt I will be doing this too often. Â Yay! Â I'm a fan!
I've only visited this place a few times but I'm already a fan. Sushi Wow is right! I can't recall what exactly was ordered, but the rolls were amazing and crafted oh-so photogenically. Sad to admit, this was the first time I tried eel, but glad to report it won't be the last. Since moving to Denver, I've often left Asian restaurants wondering what others may have to offer. Whether it's carryout (bonus because they deliver to my neighborhood) or dine-in (sushi bar and/or dining tables in a modern art atmosphere) I am left impressed!
Review Source:It seems there is an endless supply of Thai food in this town, so it's easy to be critical.
The service was the best part of our meal. Â The waiter was polite and attentive, which goes a long way in my book.
The menu is very diverse and offers a lot to choose from.
Here's where we get to the bad news..... Â The food wasn't all that exciting or delicious. Â We wanted to try a bunch of stuff to get a sampling of what they offered. Â We ordered 5 appetizers and a couple of sushi rolls (I know, I'm disgusting).
The tempura shrimp and mango rolls were good. Â The hot and spicy soup was great. Â The rest was disappointing.
I wouldn't say I would never eat here again, but on my next trip, I'll stick to the soup.
an FYI - twice in the last several months the Denver Post has included Spicy Thai in their "With Reservations" listing - the column where the publish health code violations. The troubles have been "evidence of rodents or insects" and "failure to maintain food at a proper temperature" - something that really freaks me out in a sushi restaurant!
Review Source:The food is ok, but the two stars says it all "Meh, I've experienced better"
I was a little sketched out by the strip mall location and super cheap prices and well, quite honestly a little afraid to try the sushi.
Great if all you care about is super cheap food. Otherwise I'd keep looking
Let's start out with...The server knew my name when I did not even tell him my name...yeah a little creepy but funny! Shows how much I came here.
This was my favorite spot to grab sushi or curry while attending Johnson & Wales University about 3 blocks away. The curry I got was the green tofu one with brown rice. It was not the greatest, but it hit the spot on snowy days. Their sushi is pretty good, fresh and cheap! DYNAMITE ROLLLLLLS is the way to go!
I don't recommend buying their Thai tea because they get it from a bottle. You can go buy some Thai tea and brew it yourself and add the sugar and evaporated milk yourself and add a hint of vanilla syrup. The Vietnamese coffee was alright. They add too much condensed milk to it, so I recommend to ask them to serve it on the side.
Friendly service, comforting atmosphere, local and cheap. Good spot to eat :).
I've ordered from here many more times since my first review and my opinion has changed considerably. Â The sweet and sour chicken is always super dry, and the chicken is flavorless. Â The teriyaki chicken is super watery, but both are still edible. Â
What prompted me to update my review is the sushi. Â Though I've had it many times and it's been okay, my last order was the last straw. Â I had two rolls, which were very good, and both were with cooked fish. Â When I moved on to the scallops, red snapper, and yellow tail, however, my decent experience ended abruptly. Â The scallops were just "off" but not alarming in flavor. Â The red snapper was actually dried out on the ends as if it were cut days before. Â The yellowtail was super fishy, more like mackerel in flavor. Â I ended up spitting it out, and throwing it away. Â After that I was afraid to eat any more of the rolls. Â There goes $35, and there goes another delivery option!
I have been receiving advertisements for this place for a while and always  wanted to try it out.  I had a student in town that was on his own sushi marathon and hadn't tried this place.  So coming here was a done deal.
The place is cute - love the geometric chairs at the sushi bar and they were comfortable to boot. Â The staff was quick, professional and genuinely nice.
We decided on sushi and promptly placed our order. Â We had the Snow Mountain, Unagi Maki and Spider rolls and yellowtail, stripe bass and octopus sushi. Â The presentation on the plate was a work of art and the sushi was tasty. Â
I kick myself for taking so long to try this place out. Â It will definitely be on the list of places next time I have a craving for raw fish. Â Plus I checked and they deliver to my neighborhood - sushi delivery - Love it!
Something for every taste here. I'll start with the Sushi and Sashimi.. Fresh, good portions and priced well. This is a big draw here and I have yet to see anybody leave a piece on their plate. The other part of the menu is Chinese, Japanese, Vietnamese and Thai. The say if you don't see something just ask, they mean it.
Service is friendly and always making sure your happy. I have not been rushed out even now that they are becoming more popular.
Get the jasmine tea. Smells so good I had to go out and buy some for home.
Many moons ago one of my favorite resturants was a place in Glendale called The Yum Yum Tree, (I bet NO ONE on this site remembers that place!!), it was 21 places, serving international food under one roof, including a huge ice cream sundae bar...[Drool like Homer] Over the years I've learned too many foods under one roof is not so hotso, except here.
OK, Â I'm not desperate enough to eat sushi this far from actual WATER, and I'd have to be looney to eat curry cooked by anyone not Indian...BUT in 2 trys I ordered the vegetable fried rice with extra egg, beef broccoli, sarachi beef, veggie pad thai, tempura, spring roll and sweet and sour chicken. Â The rice was fresh with lots of egg, the beef was TENDER and flavorful, the chicken was moist and even after sitting for a bit ( I was late picking it up) the batter was crispy. The sarachi beef wasn't spicy enough, but nothing in Colorado is for me, and the broccoli was GREEN not pale or half yellow (I'm talking to you taste of asia!) Yes, the rice was loaded with zucchini but I'm cool with that...when else am I gonna eat that stuff?! Â The spring rolls were tasty and tempura was stingy but good. Â The pad thai was not what I'm used to from Thai places so I probably won't go for that again, but it was OK. Â The food doesn't knock your boxers off but it's the best chinese I've found so far. Â Also, Â for pick up or delivery (which arrived exactly when promised) you gotta ask for the sauces. Soy sauce, wasabi etc...the sauce that came with the tempura was delish and I forgot to ask for some with my take out order yesterday :(
Someone described the area as "sketchy". Â [Insert Frown] Â 23rd and Onieda is a family neighborhood. Located there is an auto repair shop, Â tax preparation and another cafe. I saw adults talking on the porch, guys working on cars, and kids playing ball and riding bikes in the street. Wow...scarey! Â Its not Cherry Creek or Highlands Ranch but its not sketchy. Geez!!
I was torn between three and four stars... Â I have now officially eaten here twice - once in restaurant, and once grabbing food to go.
Both times the food was good - not incredible, but quite tasty. Â All of the items I have tried have been very fresh tasting, and the associated sauces are homemade (I think) and very good.
They waited a few extra minutes last time on a to-go order as I was rushing back home from the airport just at closing time. Â For that, you get the fourth star bump...
Other things to note, the staff is very friendly, and the facility nice and clean, which is extra points in my book every time.
Spicy Thai II has decent to average Asian style food. Â The vegetarian selection is very limited, which is quite a bit disappointing. Â Delivery was quite a bit faster than the quoted time, which was a nice surprise.
Had the buddha's feast and the yushan eggplant. Â The eggplant was quite good, but the buddha's feast was nothing special. Â Overall not a bad place, but nothing overly spectacular either. Â A-Ok seems like a perfect description. Â Like most Asian food places, the "spicy" dishes were definitely not spicy at all. Â Will probably try a few of the other delivery places first before deciding whether or not to give Spicy Thai II another shot. Â If one is ok with average with quick delivery, then by all means give it a shot.
I found this place on yelp when I was looking for delivery. Though I was skeptical at first in the end I was actually impressed and have now enjoyed their cuisine many times.
The delivery is pretty fast and FREE! Until now I thought "good sushi delivery" was an oxymoron, but this place proved me wrong. Not only is the sushi some of the best I've found in Denver, they have some really creative rolls including a Mango Roll and a Kiwi Roll! The Kiwi makes me happy in a light crisp Summer kind of way that requires no sauce and melts in your mouth. The Salmon is always fresh, never fishy and the veggie tempura roll is amazing too! The Chinese food was a little better than okay, but not brilliant, but then again this is Denver so I didn't expect much. The Calamari was surprisingly good and came with two sauces that were amazing when combined, plus it's around $5 which is half of what most places charge.
The exterior of the building is kind of sketchy, but the food and the interior make up for it in a big way. I've been in there when they were empty and when they were slammed, but I've never waited more than 5 min to get seated and the service is always great.
Added bonus for having Fried Sesame Balls, they are little but come 6 to an order! It's the perfect way to end a good meal.
This is a really good reason to take a later flight from the Denver Airport. Â Â Only a 7 minute cab ride away, Â Spicy Thai serves Chinese, Japanese, Vietnamese and Thai food, and they have a full bar.
It's more of an Asian fusion, and sushi is fresh to order. Â Yet it is a fusion of all top Asian. Â This is the only place on earth that I have ever been able to order a custom made avocado tempura (roll) with Chinese 5 spiced tuna, jalapenos and with a side of shrimp sauce mixed with soy sauce and wasabi (well, we had to take that final step ourselves). Â Â
Totally excellent. Â Â So let em bump your flight and give you a free hotel room and meal for the night. Â (In our case the meal ticket was $30 each and while we spent $150 total, we only spent $90) for a total culinary adventure, all about Asia. Â
WOW!
If you're looking for phenominal atmosphere and a killer scene...this is not your spot. Â But if you are looking for good sushi to pick up or have delivered and still have some coin in your pocket, look no further.
We pick up sushi from here about once a week and have always been happy with the food, especially at the price of about $4 a roll. Â Also, their hot and sour soup is great and you get a huge portion for the price.
I'll continue to go here for the quick week night meal.
I don't understand how anyone that eats here can like it. None of the food ordered was spicy, and the supposed Thai items were NOT Thai. I ordered what the restaurant calls, Pad Se-Lew. It was made with noodles of the right shape, but seemed more like egg noodles and not what I am used to at other Thai restaurants. Zero spice.
The place looks more like a Japanese Sushi bar. Maybe the sushi is good, and if so, why don't they specialize in that. The Thai food there is not Thai, not spicy, and not very good. They also serve Chinese and Vietnamese, which I would guess they mess up too. They need to change the name of their restaurant to: "Bland Generic Unauthentic Asian-Style Lite Cafe."
I was pleasantly surprised! Â I've received their mailer several times and never bothered to check them out until tonight. Â I got take-out, so I can't comment on the service or ambiance but the food was really good.
It was definitely on the pricey side, I really hate it when places do "lunch" prices and then "dinner" is $3-4 more for the same thing---no one wants to look at a menu and know that if they'd gone earlier in the day they'd have saved money!
well first off....I was gonna do a review before they increased the prices! Â WHAT!!!! Â Â Â I have been praising the roof off for thier sushi the last lear. Â Â Now I have to let everyone know that it is twice as much for everything. Â And that was one of the main selling points for everything......$1. Â even if it wasn't "GREAT" Â it was still "great" Â Cheap Sushi for those of us that can eat till the cows come home. Â $60 for two people...(and we can eat)
So I haven't been back in a month or so.......I'm really sad to hear about the price increase. Â If they hadn't done that it would be four stars
I decided to visit Spicy Thai and searching for a sushi restaurants in my neighborhood. Â Its is a little suspect from the outside but was quite pleased once I went in. Â Its was very clean and nicely decorated.
I know some of you yelpers think this is the "bad" part of town but I have lived in Park Hill all my life and its a wonderful neighborhood. Â I did not have any issues at all. Â The food was pretty good but pricey than I thought it would be. Â It appears they have raised their prices lately. Â Still much cheaper than the city's favorite Sushi Den. Â
The full bar is also nice :-)) Â I would also have to say the California rolls are average. Â Anyone who has kids know how picky they can be. Â My 10 year old (going on 20) daughter loved her combination bowl. Â That's says a lot. Â Overall I am excited to know about this place and they deliver!
Thanks Yelpers! Â Great Call.
Now usually, I never try a sushi restaurant out of the blue. Â For me, it's a word of mouth situation. Â Someone I know has to have recommended it to me. Â Well, I threw caution to the wind last night when I tried Spicy Thai and Sushi Wow! Â
Got an order for pickup here last night. Â Wow - the sushi is VERY reasonably priced and pretty tasty. Â It's not my favorite in the city by any stretch, but this is just perfect for a mid-evening sushi craving after you've just walked the dogs and are kind of sweaty and gross and don't feel like changing your clothes and venturing out to get some.
All of their rolls are 8 pc. rolls, and the specialty rolls are hugemongous! Â We got the Volcano roll which is spicy tuna with tempura bits, mango, and avocado across the top. Â It was massive and it fills you up fast! Â We also got a few maki: Â cucumber, sweet potato (my favorite!), and negihamachi (though they forgot the scallions - it was just hamachi). Â This, along with an order of spring rolls was $25. Â Fantastic!
The fish was all of fine quality - here it is the next morning and I feel just fine! Â :) Â So yay for this being so close to my house! Â The fact that they deliver is even more of a plus! Â Will definitely return to try some of their Thai menu as well. Â It looks good!
Had dinner @ Spicy Thai Asian Grill & Sushi Bar over the weekend.
Hubby only gives 2.5 stars for this place coz he believes and feels that his order of Jalapeno Steak was undercooked and not that Spicy at all.. Â The Vietnamese hot coffee was not up to par.
I had the Thai Hot & Sour Soup (Tom Yum Gong). Â Too sweet and not spicy at all. Â I was indeed disappointed.
I asked for my Hotategai Sushi to be spicy but it was not. Â The rest of my order of Unagi, Tabiko, Sweet Raw Shrimp was just ok. Â Though I cant deny for 2 pieces of each order of Nigiri is only $2.00. Â If only they come with a bigger portion.
The experience were indeed forgetable.
We saw Spicy Thai when we were picking up cheese steaks at South Philly Cheese Steak; the parking lot was crowded and I could see the pretty glass IKEA style lamps hanging above the tables. So tonight, Bob S and his son from Philly came by for a visit. At first we thought cheese steaks and then decided Jake had to be adventuresome. So we decided to try Spicy Thai . I quickly looked it up on Yelp and saw some of my favorite Yelpers giving a good review and off we went.
This is now becoming a Park Hill hidden jewel. The place was full and the people coming in behind us had to wait. (YES! we beat them in) We had an outstanding spicy tuna roll and various other sushi for appetizers. It was very good and fresh. I had the special Thai Peanut Curry Sauce with all vegetable and brought home enough for two more meals. AND best of all the brown rice was served shaped in a heart with a nicely decorated orange half. The husband had the Pud Thai combo and said the beef addition was very good.
I wish I could give this place 4.5 stars as it is now not so scary. Park Hill, I think we have a winner. We can even have sushi delivered!!
I've been wary of trying this place, too, given its location. However, I finally succumbed to the siren song of sushi and tried it out (FYI, the place is actually titled "Spicy Thai II and Sushi Wow!" - and sadly, I didn't add the exclamation point for emphasis, it's really in the title).
I was going to shoot for delivery, but there was a $15 minimum and I just wasn't $15 worth of hungry. So, they told me to come by in ten minutes and they'd have my food ready.
When I arrived, there was only one family dining there. The server was extremely nice and handed me a menu and a flier with coupons for my next visit. The place is really decorated well on the inside (they have some kickass green chairs around the sushi bar), and it had a nice vibe to it.
I asked the server how business was going, and she said dinners on the weekends were good and that the delivery service was thriving. I sincerely hope that more diners discover them soon; they seem like good people.
When I got home, I attacked my food. I'm happy to report that it was great. The *only* negative was that the tuna seemed a bit fishier than I'm accustomed for some reason. Otherwise, all good. Their miso was especially tasty. Also, I was pleased to see that they sent me home with low sodium soy packets - nice touch.
Next time, I'm definitely going to have to dine in. They have an extensive menu with lots of options ranging from Japanese to Thai to Chinese, so even my uberpicky husband will find something appealing.
Okay okay okay. I drove past this place as soon as I heard it had opened and was surprised at how nice it looked given its north Oneida Street address. But I still haven't eaten there, I only got delivery.
Wow. Hooray. Hip hip hooray!!! Chinese etc delivered to my doorstep lickety split and I actually really liked it. No MSG, bountiful vegetarian options, great appetizers and satisfying entrees. I haven't tried the sushi but given this first experience I won't be afraid to the next time I get a hankering.
Highly recommend to Park Hill folk.
Expect an update as I continue to order from there. Yum!
