Starlite Room

My buddy and I did a short film project where his fictional wife worked at The Starlite. It was the name of the bar the actress used for her backstory. And I had no idea why...
...until now.

The character she played was pretty trashy. And I don't mind trash.

It is, as most have indicated, a true dive. It's cash only. And there is no draft. I recall a quote somewhere where the bartender says I can have any drink I want, as long as it's in a shot glass. It just seems like hard boozing. And terrible hookups.

So, I really like this place. I come from the midwest where these bars are a staple. The working class needs to drown their sorrows. I like the service. Our server was very attentive and sweet. She didn't mind rapping about stuff.

The prices are a tad steep, but I'm sure it's comparable to other bars around that area. I mean, you're at the turning point of North Hollywood & Studio City.

There's a pool table. Electronic dart machine. A short bar. When I was there, a family came in to have a drink. They looked like Euro tourists. They seemed very amused by the place. Very Americana type images around the joint.

It's a good daily watering hole.

I like it.  Small, cute, friendly, random.  So far always a safe bet.

With the older tattooed wife-beater wearing patrons on smoke brakes outside warding off new comers always a charming decor. I wait till they reapply their lipstick and go up to ask what's the house drink here? The ladies look me over and immediately look me in the face .... And give me a big grin. Yeah Hun just ask the bartender. He'll fix ye up. Super sweet guy.
