its a hole in the wall bar in federal way. it doesn't matter if its called Johnny's, Stein Haus, McDonalds, Booger Jacks, Moonshine - etc... in reading these reviews i can't help but laugh.  You can't really come to a hole in the wall bar that has Pull Tabs as a source of entertainment and expect "greatness" if that's what you're MO is... Federal Way let alone Stein Haus isn't the place to be.  Sad to some... but true!

Located off the beaten path of Highway 99... you have but few choices for watering holes in Federal Way (FW). You can stick to HWY 99 and bar hop along the chain restaurants and bars or you can feel like a total outcast in the 50+ korean bars (if you're not korean - you will stand out like a sore thumb, and being Asian isn't enough, cause they know their own people).  Or you can shimmy on over this way to Stein Haus and not be treated differently based upon how you look or how you dress or even what you decide to eat and/or drink.

The folks here may not be the classiest of the bunch - but back to my hole in the wall theory. It is what it is.  The folks are laid back and they are nice. you can strike up a conversation with a stranger over a beer and pull tabs at the bar, or shoot some pool, throw some darts, shake you booty on the dance floor to the juke box music or sometimes they have a live DJ spinning all sorts of music. No judging. Just drinking and you can literally have as much fun as your mind and the people you come with allows you to.

The food is bar food. I wouldn't and I couldn't expect to much.  You want real food? go to a restaurant!  Don't worry about health codes and authenticity at a bar! You want vodka on the rocks? or an ice cold beer fresh off the tap? hell you can drink in a 30 oz mug or 34 oz Boot! Then this is the place for you.

Really?  Stella P.  Try giving a constructive review even if its bad rather than a sarcastic punch line.  To disagree with Robb... they never said they were authentic.  Just adding a fun theme to a local bar.  I've had the cabbage rolls...great, the schnitzel...also great, and the spicy sausage... bratwurst I think.  All good.  I've been to Germany, no it's not Germany, but it's better than just plain old Johnnys, so stop being a grinh dude and lighten up.  No one was trying to recreate Leavenworth.

Yes, they have a few "German" items on the menu. No, they are in no way authentic.

This former bar offered the same old bar fare, and added some German "inspired" items and a new sign to suggest that they are somehow a Bierhaus. They are not.

I tried a "Bavarian" burger, which was not even good by American standards. It was supposed to come with German potato salad, but they were out, so I got crinkle-cut fries. Just like in Bavaria!

Limited selection of German beers on tap, but they'll put them (or your Coors) into a big plastic boot if you want. Just like in Bavaria!

I'm not sure why Johnny's decided to rebrand, but man, they didn't try too hard. If the font on the sign makes you think you're in for a treat, think again.

If you're undecided about the authenticity, know that they serve tacos. Tacos; the grandest of Oktoberfest cuisines in the old Fatherland.
