Once upon a time there was a beautiful nightclub in Miami Beach named Story. Â She had an evil sister named LIV, who (strictly by association) tarnished Story's reputation at first. Â Story and LIV looked a lot alike, but there was just something magical about Story that made people fall in love.
Ok, ok... I'll stop with the ridiculous pun. Â Here's the low down:
Story is, in fact, a big, extravagant, pretentious looking typical Miami nightclub, with a lot of lights, and half naked dancers, and all the razzle dazzle... upon first glance, it's easy to compare to LIV, however, as someone who avidly campaigns for LIV to be swallowed into the fiery pits of hell, I can give you my word that Story and LIV are 2 totally different experiences.
Yes, you are going to wait in line to get in (unless of course you know a promoter, in which case... you'll still stand in line...), but that's pretty much in the fine print when you sign up to go to one of these clubs.
What I like about Story that I hate about LIV.... the crowd. Â Of course, you'll always have your super pretentious hoochie mama's and papi chulos... it's Miami, you'll find those just about anywhere in town, but it's just a different vibe.
Drinks are expensive, but again... Miami Beach. It's expected.
If you get lucky, you can find street parking nearby. Â We usually park in the lot down the block for $10.
The sound system is fabulous, and all the best DJs are lined up almost back to back to play at Story these days. Â In the last month, I've seen 3 very popular DJs with absolutely no hassle to get in on any occasion.
You definitely want to dress to impress, and wear your comfiest pair of stilettos, because it's almost impossible not to want to walk around the club to check out all it's nooks and hang out spaces. Â I prefer the upstairs area, but that's just me (the dance floor in front of the stage is just a little much... I like to watch from a distance... it paid off at Aoki... no cake on me)
If you like big pretentious clubs, you'll like Story... If you like big pretentious clubs, but dislike snobby pretentious crowds... you'll like Story.
9 out of 10, only because the bathroom lines get a little outta hand. Â Fine print problems.
...and they all live Happily Ever After.
Fin.
Had a lot of high hopes heading to Story we heard this was the place to go. Myself and four girlfriends are from out of state and on a budget so we each had several nips in our purses for the night, not knowing where we would end up. I was irritated with the $20 cover charge but when they started confiscating our nips and mocking us, calling people over to make fun of us, taking pictures, I was offended. As the night continued we wanted to make the best of things...oh wait, $19 drinks. We enjoyed the dj but for the size of the establishment the dance floor was not proportional. Later I had two conversations with separate bouncers about what happened with our nips and each one was confident we would get them back after we decided to leave, things were looking optimistic. My friends and I smelt weed being smoked by people at the center VIP booth which was addressed to the manager and he allowed the smoking and the people to continue. What a contradiction! When we left we did not receive our confiscated nips. The bouncers outside had a completely different story. Â They said everything was thrown away, yeah right that's BS it wasn't throw away in front of me so there for what they say is questionable. I wish we had never walked threw the door we should have seen the red flags and moved on. Lesson learned. I work in the service industry and the manner in which they handled the situation was unprofessional and rude.
Review Source:BEST NIGHTCLUB IN MIAMI RIGHT NOW.
I was at Story to see Cedric Gervais for the famous "Sh!tshow" during WMC week and it was a banger! The club is absolutely spacious and beatiful. The people...are beautiful. Drinks are expensive, but who cares, you're in Miami, have some fun!
I went to a couple of clubs during my stay in Miami. I didn't need a promoter or anything "exclusive" to get in. It was a $20 cover for girls on WantTickets, and $35 for guys. There were a lot of people standing outside, but my friends and I went in with out tix and no line, no problem! We got in super quick, and next thing we know, we were taking shots and dancing to Cedric Gervais' mix.
Next time I come back to Miami, I'll definitely come back.
And probably take a visit to the sister club, LIV.
My 2nd Home!!!
I have been to many clubs in Miami and none of them compare to STORY. First of all the environment is fantastic, no little kids which is the best part, no rude Cubans (reffs) the 2nd best part, and just a good time with good music. The first time I came here was for Dirty South and It was beyond amazing I fell in love with this place. We bought tickets online which were $30 for girls $60 for guys decent price. We knew the drinks were going to be pricey because anything in South Beach is expensive, so we decided to pregame, spent about an hour and a half pre-gaming and went to the club at 1:30. When we got to the front there was a huge crowd of people waiting in line, one of the bouncer told us that if we had tickets we had to go to a different line. Here's the best part about buying tickets online YOU DON'T HAVE TO WAIT IN LINE!!!!!! I don't know why people make lines when they can just buy the tickets we literally waited 5 minutes.
Let me just say it is a gorgeous club inside, beautiful set up and amazing sounds. When it is a well known Dj it does get very crowded little space to dance but nothing you cant handle. The only reason I gave this place 4 stars is because of the limited space in the dance floor. I bought 2 beers and they both came to $20, I mean I don't know why people complain about this it's SOUTH BEACH this is expected. Overall I had an amazing night and Dirty South killed it. I came again a second time when it was a not so well known Dj and it was still amazing, this place never disappoints!!!
Overall the best club out there right now the only other one it can be compared to is LIV. The staff is nice they actually greet you in the front, the setup is amazing and the music never lets you down. If you want to have a GOOD A$$ NIGHT!! this is where you need to go!
A nice club in Miami, we didn't know where to go, we were bombarded by promoters during the day. Â I guess being 4 girls alone in Miami gets a whole lot of attention. Â So this was one of the places we were told to check out. Â It was a huge club with expensive taste. Â We didn't know what we were expecting but we walked in into a celebrity mad house. Â I guess Flo Rida was celebrating his birthday there that night so the place was packed. Â we had fun just dancing on the dance floor and enjoyed our time.
Review Source:This is a Mega Club in Miami Beach, I put it on the same levels as Marquee LV, XS, and LIV. Â We bought tickets in advance, was $45 each, well worth it as we got there around 12 and the line was around the block. Â We just showed our tickets and walked right in. Â If your money sensitive dont plan on drinking alot here, a round of four drinks is $85 at least....also interesting .....as the night went on the bartender started charging more for the same drink, intial price was $15, then 3 drinks later was $20. Â And they don't like to give change! Â DJ sound system is top class, extremely loud. Â French DJ Dan Ghenacia warmed up for NYC's Victor Calderone.... bouncers were nice, although something that was annoying was the fact that every 5 mins there are janitors trying to clean up the dance floor, I'm talking tiny pieces of trash, really? Â Does this make a difference.....all in all Mega Club esp if you are into the EDM, Trance, Progressive house scene
Review Source:All I have to say is WOW! Â
I have never been to Vegas but when we got in, my friend told me "this club is nicer than vegas" so that means it had to be somethin' special. Â After the "WOW" factor when you walk in, you'll really enjoy the setup of the club. Â The dance floor is in a "pit" area in the middle with the DJ booth directly in front you. Â There is plethora of bars everywhere for you to spend your money. Â I never had to wait more than 15 seconds to get my drank on.
The sound system was really good on the dance floor, but as you venture out to the upper levels of the club, the sound does muddle and echo. Â But that is to be expected. Â The lighting system is amazing! Â The lasers are out of this world and they do this light thing on the DJ, looks like the DJ is being teleported Star Trek style! Â
They get top-rate DJs so the best bet is to buy your tickets online and go in through the side entrance with NO LINE and no hassle from the bouncers on how many girls you have or pressure of getting bottle service, unless that's how you roll. Â I went during Miami Music Week so my ticket was only like $35 for Cedric Gervais (local Miami DJ) but I saw ticket prices ranging from like $100 to upwards of $300 for some DJs like Axwell. Â INSANE!
The only negative thing is the INCONSISTENT price of drinks. Â Listen, I know Miami is expensive and I knew right off hand that I was going to spend at a minimum $100 to get a light buzz going. Â The thing that irked me was that my first drink "vodka tonic" was $15 so I was like okay that's cool. Â I can hang with that. Â Next time I ordered from the SAME bartender, she charged me $17 which I thought was strange. Â Third time I ordered, she didn't even give me change back when I gave her a $20. Â Maybe this is something that occurs all over Miami.
Anyway, if you want a true Miami clubbing experience, go to this place. Â Its run by the same management company as LIV and you won't have to go through the hassle of trying to get into LIV.
This place is huge, but it's definitely got that smarmy-douchey vibe. I wound up here after starting out the evening on a more mellow note at Haven and then the Delano pool. Going from that chilled out vibe to this place was not a good look. Take the chill vibe and attractive ladies from the Delano and replace that with horny dudes and skanky chicks from Hialeah...and that's the story. Charging $30 for cover? No big deal, but at least bring something better to the table than overpriced drinks and a general stank in the air.
Maybe we came on a bad night and the place was just "off" or maybe after doing Marquee and the Encore Pool Club two weeks prior ruined any experience thereafter, but the most exciting thing about this place was when I ran into a Pootie Tang doppelganger, grabbed his ponytail and said "Sa da tey!"
If you're from LA and know a thing or two about good night life .. THIS IS YOUR SPOT. Skip LIV and go straight to this place, the crowd and venue are SO MUCH better! Absolutely loved it .. plus the sound system they have is only used in one other club in the states (Sound in Hollywood) top notch stuff.
Make sure you look and dress to impress and if your with guys who aren't getting bottle service .. ditch them. ha, just kidding but yano.
What a pretty pretty pretty space!!! Â The lights are amazing. Â Definitely a huge place to party at and I loved that they had VIP table sections everywhere and they definitely take good care of you if you have a table! Â The only thing I didn't like about the VIP tables was that you don't get wrist bands to go in and out.... so how do you really keep track of who is in or isn't? Â The other downfall is that there is no in and out. Â Once you're in, you're in and once you're out, you're out. Â I was hungry around 3am and just wanted to go across the street for a bite to eat and come back but that was a no go. Â So we ended up leaving my gfs who were still inside with table service to eat because I could go on no longer w/o food.
Review Source:Went here during Miami Music Week to see two of my favorite DJ's, Armin Van Buuren and W&W spin. It was our very last party of the week, so I expected Armin and W&W to kill it, which they did without question.
Here's the list of my pros and cons of Story:
Pros:
I have to admit, the sound system and lighting is one of the best I've seen and others have reviewed that it's the best in South Beach. I hadn't been there before when it was Amnesia previously, but I assume they did some upgrades. It wasn't super crowded since it was the end of Miami Music Week and most tourists had flights out early the next morning, however our flight was in the late afternoon on Monday so we were able to stay out pretty late that night. Anyways, they had some house DJ open for Armin and W&W who was just OK in the beginning of his set but he really turned it up towards the end playing some dark deep progessive house. It was during his set that the lighting throughout the floor and the club was really impressive. They have thousands of LED lights hanging from all over the ceiling and each LED was independent so at times it seemed as if it was "raining" blue lights, all a long with all the other lasers, strobes and lighting machines. I was disappointed that they didn't continue using the same lights when Armin came on at 2:30am but his set was so good, it didn't even matter. I've seen Armin and W&W many times before but this time their set was probably the best I've ever seen considering the set up, sound and lighting system. Anyways, I had a perfect spot right in front of Armin, not too close and not too far and was basically in the "sweet spot" for the sound system. It wasn't too loud so you couldn't hear what anyone else was saying which was nice.
Cons:
I docked a few stars for this place for the following reasons:. Â
1) I was just minding my own business, when an attractive local Latina girl tapped my shoulder, told me to move out of the way and gave me the look of death as if I did something wrong... I guess I was standing next to her friend or something. Lame. Â
2) Towards the end of W&W's set some white dude came down to the floor from his VIP table with one of his bottles of champagne and decided to shake it and spray everyone dancing in the front... of course there happened to be quite a few Asians there that night because Armin was spinning... but anyways when I finally realized the dude was spraying the champagne I was the only one who's backside was completely drenched. I heard the douchebag yell to his group of friends, "Yeah, I got the guy, he's soaked..." Â The bouncers at Story took him and kicked him out fairly quickly, but not quick enough in my opinion, because he basically sprayed the champagne bottle for at least 30 seconds. At that point I was so pissed off that I just wanted to get out of there and go back to the hotel to shower.
3) Like other Yelp reviewers have written, all night the stupid janitors swept the middle of the dance floor trying to clean up all the confetti that was dropped during Armin and W&W's sets. The janitor made his way through the middle of the dance floor demanding people to move so that he could sweep the confetti into his trash bin. I mean come on, he wasn't even making a dent on how much confetti was on the floor and he was being rude while doing it. Sure that might have been his job, but that is entirely Story's fault for making him do that when it's pretty pointless.
4) The drinks at Story are $18 each, which is comparable to XS or Marquee in Las Vegas, and that's fine with me. But when I paid for two drinks and the bartender gave me back $64 in change in mostly 5 and 1 dollar bills I was like WTF. That's pretty desperate when you give your customer so many 5 and 1 dollar bills like he's at a strip club. The bartender was attractive, but not nearly as cute as the bartenders at Marquee in Vegas. And I highly doubt she didn't have enough 20's and 10's in the cash register.
5) One other thing I noticed at Story, most of the VIP tables don't have a good view of the dance floor. Most of the tables are blocked by pillars and walls. The tables at LIV at the Fountainebleau are much better, they have a view of everything and the lay out was better.
Despite all of the above cons, I still had a pretty decent time just because of Armin and W&W. Â Even racist people and rude janitors can't ruin good music and vibes from a DJ! Â Tickets to that particular party were $195, so I don't think I'll be going back unless cover is substantially less(or if Armin is spinning).
Get to the Chase:
Pros:
1) The most swanky club I've ever been to (yes even better than the Las Vegas strip)
2) Super lux (beautiful people, tons of security that look like CIA lads, crystal, LED's, smoke, confetti, champagne, and crazy lasers)
3) Crazy good acoustics (though you will come out deaf)
4) Can get A-list artists: Armin Van Buuren played during Ultra Weekend 2 (The most amazing 4 hour set of my life)
Cons:
1) $200 a ticket to get in (though this could just be because Armin Van Buuren was there, with tables going from anywhere between $2,000 to $10,000
2) No dancing space whatsoever (in fact nobody dances...it's strange...just old people with LOADS of money)
3) Place reeks with money...old people with absolutely gorgeous women
4) You will be standing and listening to the music when you'll notice your foot or whole leg moved aside....yes it's a mop...they have these "sweepers" (for a lack of a better word) who roam the club sweeping up the floor thinking they're invisible ninjas...a giraffe would have a better chance at being unnoticed on a beach than them.
Beautiful venue and stellar sound system  But it all goes downhill from here.  The staff rewards you with a pretentious and arrogant welcome.  If you leave feeling ripped off and insulted, it's because you were.
Drinks are not just overpriced, it is super ridiculously overpriced. Â Even a bottle of water - $10! I would probably be okay paying $20 for a drink, but when I do, I need to know why I am doing so. Â And when I can't answer that question, I hate you a bit more.
Way too many VIP sections everywhere, with bouncers guarding EVERY perimeter of the section - Even in the middle of the dance floor, leaving a tiny space due to the big heavy bouncers taking up the dance floor and pushing you around.  We attempted to settle next  to the couches on the main floor (yes, there are VIP sections in the dance floor) and thought we were finally ok, then security stampedes over and pushes everyone.  Apparently, there's an imaginary line to keep 20 ft. away from the VIP area. You're better off dancing by the bar or in the bathroom!
Sadly I didn't get to enjoy Luciano's brilliant beats. Â Needless to say...Story did not have a happy ending.
This is place is amazing they have world best DJ's right in Miami Beach no need to take a taxi to Downtown Miami. It gives you that feeling of being in Vegas.
I went down the route of getting a table and it was worth it, Eric Morillo was playing and he always bring down the house.
They have a state of the Art sound system by the best company. "Funktion One ". This is why they have such good DJ's from around the world always playing there.
You can go two routes walk in and pay cover/get tickets online or get a table. I have the pleasure of meeting a kind gentlemen that works there named Jon Opas <a href="/redir?url=https%3A%2F%2Ftwitter.com%2FJonOpas&s=535323187f2b5108c91eb8acb35940b888388db90af3ce67c4496b4a70648a20" target="_blank" rel="nofollow">https://twitter.com/JonO…</a> is the man to speak to.  They have 70 tables which really makes it a super club.
Huge nightclub! Like bigger then Vegas clubs. There's a 100 different table selections and tons of dancing room. The TV screens coming from the ceiling are a trip and fun to watch. The music was so amazing and the sound & bass were perfection. The lighting system also sets the mood right.
Come here with your dancing shoes on!
Story is such an awesome club! I got in quickly bc my friends a promoter and I was with 10 hot chicks so that worked out well. We were there early (for miami time), 12 am. and it was poppin! This is seriously a really big club, insanely huge dance floor, 2 levels of vip booths, who knows how many bars. The DJ's were pro, the music was great all EDM, the light effects and video screens were amazing and the people were pretty hot. Not as hot as I saw on my last trip to LIV but still pretty hot. I don't know how much guys were paying to get in but not one guy got in without paying. I always forget you can smoke cigarettes in the clubs. I'm not a big smoker but occasionally on vacay i want a puff or two and I love that you can smoke in the clubs.
We had to leave at 1, such a bummer these work trips, but we had a lot of fun for the short time we were here. I would recommend this place to anyone wanting to dance and I'll definitely come back to party it up!
Minimum spend $1000 table for 2 on a saturday night. Tables around us were empty. Table seated beside us later into the night smoked. Music wasn't our type (underground house). Wish we knew this before hand. 3 drinks each and we left to drink somewhere else :( table was at the top of 2 flights of stairs. Not a good scene if your planning to drink your face off with high heels! great lighting though. Would have loved the club if the music was better.
Review Source:I first went to Story a couple of weeks ago to see Wolfgang Gartener and most recently this past Friday to see Erick Morillo. I have to say that I really enjoyed myself both times, and even more so this last time. Getting in is going to be on the difficult side if you don't really know anyone. But even if you do, it isn't exactly going to be a breeze. Once inside though, you can't help but be impressed by the lighting system. They pretty much have the most impressive lighting system on South Beach right now and the sound system is top notch. As far as the layout goes, it's pretty much the same set up that Amnesia had. The only difference is that there are way more tables now and less of an actual dance floor. My main complaint about Story though is the fact that you can't see the DJ from every spot in the club due to the various obstructions. What I am happy about is the fact that they finally fixed the A/C! It was an oven in there last year during WMC. Overall I think it's an upgrade to the old Amnesia but it isn't quite as good as LIV. As long as they keep bringing in the top DJ's I'll keep going. If not, I'd much rather go to LIV.
Review Source:Huge mega club! I am not usually a fan of these types of clubs unless I am in Las Vegas, but I really feel that I am in Las Vegas at Story. The layout is awesome for this type of a club. You can move around freely, although when I went for Erick Morillo, I could not move an inch anywhere. My only complaint is that for large events like Erick Morillo, I wish that they would put a strict control of max capacity (which will never happen, more people, more $$$).
The lighting system was awesome as it wasn't too much but definitely a "show" in itself. Sound, perfect. I personally think that this club is MUCH better than LIV.
Just a heads up, this place WILL be absolutely packed so get there early. Even though it's a mega club, it fills up fast! There will be a LOT of people waiting outside after midnight so try to get there right at midnight. This club is also open very late...so you could also venture over at around 3:00am-6:00am-ish and not be disappointed either. If there are tickets for an event at Story, buy them beforehand as if you go there the night of, it's at the discretion of the doorman.
Bottle service would be a huge plus going here as if you don't have a table, you will definitely be squished! My suggestion if you don't want to splurge, go upstairs and walk around...that is where all the tables are but you can find places to stand where you won't be squished in with a huge amount of people. You don't need a table to be upstairs.
Dress to impress and enjoy!!!!
Where do I start? I wish this was still Amnesia. If you are considered as a regular night goer, preferably a male, this place is not for you (Good luck getting in and paying ridiculous cover). They have remodeled the entire place. The lights and sound system are awesome but the new arrangement is ridiculous. Unless you are spending thousands on a pointless table, good luck finding a good spot to stand. Â The entire club is pretty much reserved for VIP tables. Oh, you want to get your self a nice cold drink!? Enjoy paying $23 for a redbull and vodka. You guys ruined Amnesia.
Review Source:I don't think I've ever given a nightclub higher than 3 stars! This place redefined to me what a nightclub should and could be and reminded me of clubbing in Asia!
Very spacious, friendly bouncers, convenient to get a cab after, fun lighting, great layout, good sound system and reliable ventilation. Of course, amazing lineup!
Amazing renovation from the previous Amnesia, it oozes LIV love all over but BETTER!
Yes, LIV now owns Story and has completely reinvented this large space. It's wide open and you have a great view from everywhere. Yes, there is still tons of VIP areas but not to the point where they only cater to VIP, like LIV. I also love that the DJ booth isn't miles above the dance floor, you can actually see the DJ if you are in front, YAY!
The bartenders were lovely but of course, same old MIA prices. And there are tons of bars so there is hardly any wait, WIN! The sound was fabulous and the decor, gorgeous. The light show was awesome.
When you arrive, if you have tickets, enter on the side, skip the lines. The bouncers were pretty cool expect not very informative.
If you have the cash to splurge on VIP, it looked amazing but I just went Gen Admission for Kaskade on NYE and it was AWESOME! The dance floor wasn't over packed and I got great service.
Huge downside for me, they allow smoking... bleh.
This is def my favorite club in MIA now, can't wait to check out many, many more shows!
Absolutely loved it.
Went there for Tiesto and Cedric Gervais night on DEC 30. Arrived around 12.30 am and the line to get in was around the block. But luckily we had tickets, so we just walked in passing all the people standing out there.
The place is completely renovated, beautiful inside, music was blasting, bartenders are all gorgeous.Tiesto was amazing as usual :) All security guys were super friendly and helpful. Had a great time!
