Tap 42

Tap 42 has a great atmosphere, location and food. There's no doubt about that.

I was willing to give it a higher rating but for my visit last night. Prior to going, I had seen on their website that Ladies Drink free on Wednesday night from 7PM to 9PM. Then when I arrived at the restaurant, due to a short wait, my husband and I sat at the bar and ordered drinks. This was before 7PM so naturally, I expected to pay for my drink. While enjoying my glass of wine, I saw on the wall behind the bar one of their specials, the same one that I previously saw on their website, that ladies drink free from 7pm to 9pm.

Eventually, we were notified that our table was ready. We walked over to our table with our original drinks in hand. Our server came over and introduced herself to us and did notify us that if we wanted to take advantage of any of their happy hour food specials, we still had about five minutes for doing so. As we reviewed our menu, I noticed on the table that a tent card with information regarding their specials; again, the same mention regarding the Wednesday night ladies special was stated. After deciding what we wanted, we placed our food order. Once we were done with our first round of drinks, our server asked if we wanted another round. We said yes and informed her of what he had been drinking.

Food was great...no complaints there. After we were done, the server provided our bill. I had noticed my glass of wine was on it. At first, I thought it was a mere oversight. As such, my husband asked the server about it, to which the server explained that wine was not part of the special, but rather only champagne was available as part of the special. Don't get me wrong, I obviously have no problem paying for what I consume; however, I do not believe it is proper business etiquette to provide misrepresentations. None of the three signs I had read noted any limitations on their special for that evening.

Overall, the experience was good. I will continue going to Tap42 as it has great food and its so close to home; however, I only recommend that if there are limitations on any of the specials provided, the establishment should notify the consumer either by its printed materials, have the server inform the consumers after introducing him/herself, or when someone orders something that is not part of the special, at a minimum, the server should notify the consumer that is not one of the specials available and provide the consumer with the option of perhaps changing their order.

The most unique beer selection in florida- but the food is outright awful. On their twitter site they will market things like wraps etc- maybe they should consider hiring someone who can make more than wraps. I have ordered their butternut squash soup several times and each time it is served ice cold. No doubt they offer some interesting brews and for that reason I go there occassionally. Their employees aren't the most knowledgable about beer- even their so called expert "Lauren" seems quite amateurish compared to Pacific Northwest/West Coast beer people. Also, where are the Belgium brews? having a couple of basic belgiums isn't enough. Crowd is working class type- not sure if this is indicative of area it is in( not the best area). Also Due South and many other Florida breweries are being overhyped not only by this place but others in the south florida area. Don't think these are very good quality brews. A great place to have some good beer- otherwise if near Coral Springs- Big Bear has much better food and the beers they have on special are great( brewing a double ipa and chocoolate stout at presemt time)Your review helps others learn about great local businesses.
