The Copper Kettle has been around for a long time and I was wondering why nobody had Yelped it, so I thought I would. Approaching it, it looked dreary, tired and worn out. The windows are either clouded or so dirty it is difficult to see either in or out of and there is nothing less welcoming than having a big "No Trespassing" sign posted in the window of open for business establishment. Like really now, what kind of a greeting is that? It's like a big NO in the face of an approaching customer.

On the inside there is also a tired air of gloom as noticeably everything in the place has long ago seen better days. The suspended ceiling tiles are water stained, bulging, giving one the distinct feeling the ceiling could come down at any moment. The tables, counters, floors and everything in the place is seriously dated so the ambiance is flat; a totally zero. The flatware used, also dated, is some of the thinnest, flimsiest stainless ever and the long used scotch taped specials posted makes one wonder how special their specials could be.

On the plus side, the wait staff was some of the friendliest, most kind, accommodating to be found in South Florida and the prices on the menu were bargains considering the size and quality of the food I had, being a prime rib and salad with Greek dressing plus coffee for just under $14.00.

The place is large, with a really big dinning area, but I can't imagine it would ever get filled. The restrooms are in dire need of paint and the full service liquor bar looked like something rarely put to significant use and rather sparsely stocked. However, everything appeared clean although well used and worn.

My only real complaint with the Cooper Kettle is that it is dreary with surroundings anything but colorful or cheerful and I don't like eating in dreary, depressing places. Worse, but maybe I just have a thing about it, is the fact that there are no "copper kettles" to be seen in the Copper Kettle. Ugh! You'd think they'd at least have one, even a fake one would have added a little something to their namesake.
