I'm a huge beer girl and a snobby elitist one at that.... with that.....
Love this place! Finally a craft beer place without obnoxiously loud music [or they haven't caved into it yet... ugh.. If I wanted that, I'd go to a whack club... I go to these places for great beer, and great conversation.]
I was waiting for a friend and chatted it up with the 2 bartenders in the meantime. They were super friendly however I felt they could get to know a bit more about beer and the beer that they're serving especially. I felt I knew more about them.... I was ready to take his spot and apply for a job so that someone there knew their stuff...
One of my favorite craft beer places ever is Haymerchant in Houston and I can say that this is probably the closest to it that Tucson has to offer and that's GREAT that there even are parallels I can draw!
In comparison to other beer places, I'd say Please oh please get more taps! [the selection is great, but 1702 and some other places are killing it with their selection and # of tap handles... even yucky Junxion has 7 IPA handles alone.. and Whole Foods has more handles....]
Not sure how service is so I just went to the bar and grabbed a seat there. Some small grabs of food would be nice. Maybe they're cool with you bringing your own? Not sure.... Â
Loved this place and I could easily spend a few more hours inside just like last time.
I LOVE LOVE this little spot! Â We went in on the day of their grand opening and what can I say it's such a great idea! Â We didn't know how the setup worked at first but we quickly caught on to just order at the bar, seat yourself and enjoy the goodness. Â So far every time I've gone I always go for the flight because how can you not? Â They have great unique beers on tap and instead of pints of one or two you can try a good size sample of 5. Â They are constantly rotating beers and the first time we were there the menu changed 3 times! Â Service has always been friendly and helpful and I love their window seating and the fact that if they don't have a food truck out front you can just order pizza from up the street and have it delivered. Â Great job Tap & Bottle!
Review Source:WOW! Beer lovers rejoice! Wine lovers, fear not, they've got you covered too. It's evident that owners, Rebecca and Scott put a ton of thought into Tap & Bottle, which serves as a giant tasting room and retail shop. Given that it's a tasting room, there is no food for purchase, but the awesome thing, is that they encourage customers to bring in food and food trucks are making their rounds and setting up shop out front. Great solution for a place that only serves alcohol. Â They've about 20 beers on tap and the selection rotates, meaning that if they run out of a certain beer, they'll quickly replace it with another and they even update their giant menu on the wall. The setup is incredibly smart and I was so pleased to see how quickly the menu board is updated. That's key in a place like this. Whether you're a beer novice or total connoisseur, there is a beer for you! I love the variety and the fact that they also feature local beer and wine. I especially like that they don't just carry local product for the sake of having something local. They pick carefully and their choices are top notch! Ever heard of a cask-conditioned beer? They have that too! Their attention to detail shows through and through. As each beer is served in its proper glassware.
If you'd rather enjoy your brew at home, head straight to the back for a diverse and global selection of beer and wine. Seriously, the options are endless.
Additionally, the interior rocks! It can get a little loud in there, but the atmosphere really lends itself for hanging out for a few hours. It feels like home. There's plenty of seating, but the place gets packed!
What makes this place extra awesome is their sense of community. Tap & Bottle will also serve as a place for special events as well as educational sessions.
Tap & Bottle is off to an excellent start. The staff is super friendly and with more product training (which is quite an undertaking with so much rotation), things will only run smoother. It would be a good idea to consider stocking napkins and basics for the food, even if they don't serve it.
Welcome to the scene Tap & Bottle!
I went there with my wife and friend this past Friday and had a great time. Â They have a great selection of beers and wine. I was able to get some food from the food truck out front which was convenient. Â This place was just happening! Â It is cool to see Downtown Tucson coming alive.
Review Source:The motto is Yay Beer! That pretty much sums it up. The owner Rebecca has fabulous taste in taps. They go fast, so do a sampler or plan to try a couple beers among a group. The Man also tried a Sauvignon Blanc on tap (I know you might be questioning his "man-hood" right now....) It was also wonderful. There might be a couple kinks to work out with ordering. Sometimes you will get table service and sometimes you will not, depending on who is working and what they are occupied with. You can also pick up beers or wines to go if you are taking your party elsewhere. Parking is not too hard to find, or you can easily walk down 6th Ave from downtown. Tap & Bottle is a great addition to the local beer scene and the space feels fun and homey. Yay beer!
Review Source:I'm always interested in checking out the new craft beer locations, so I gave this place a try. Â As others have pointed out, the service is a bit confusing. Â I wasn't sure if I was supposed to wait, or go to the bar. Â There's no good place to stand at the bar when it's full, so I squeezed between a couple people and hoped I'd be served. Â It didn't take long, so perhaps this was the correct approach. Â There were 3 bartenders, but they all seemed pretty busy.
They have a pretty good selection of beers I like, including some pretty high octane IPAs. Â Always good!
My only complaint would be the pricing. Â I've noticed other similar places in town starting to play the price gouging game, so I shouldn't be surprised. Â But $24 for a growler fill of Dogfish Head 90min is a bit steep. Â But if I want to get growlers, I'd probably go to Bev Mo, Total Wine, or the Dragoon Taproom where they're only about $12.
While I liked this place a lot I would have given it 4 stars if the service had been a little better. The gentleman behind the bar took forever to come down the bar and get our order and then when I was finished he kept glancing at me but did not come over to ask if I wanted another one. Finally the woman came over and waited on me and had a little conversation which was nice. Â We were not in there while it was busy but stayed to just about the time that everyone gets off work. They had a few more gentlemen come in and serve at the bar but they completely ignored us. We got the distinct impression that they cater to the crowd they recognize. We will go back a few more times as they had really awesome options on beer but if the service is not better we may just move on.
Review Source:Do you like beer? Â I mean, everything about beer? Â The hoppiness of an over-the-top IPA? Â The way the foam sets just right on a perfectly poured pilsener? Â The malty tones of a stout or the sublime sweetness of a porter? Â How about that unique shock of a sour? Â Then do yourself a favor and and head over so you can drool over their beer selection. Â 20 or more beers on tap, with a rotating selection. Â Some may want a more static choice, but I like how this encourages you to try something new and different. Â The wall menu does a great job of detailing each brew on tap. Â There's even an "on-deck" spot so you know what selection is coming online when a tap opens up next. Â Sweet!
Draught not your thing? Â Perhaps you're more into fancy and fun labels on bottles? Â Well say no more--walk to the back and shop until your heart is content! Â There is a selection that will cover any beer lover's hopes nicely, unless you are looking for Bud/Coors/Miller... they do not (thankfully) carry such swill. Â Bottled beers are nicely detailed as well so you can have a better understanding if you really want to get adventurous. Â Be prepared to pay a small "cap fee" if you want to enjoy that bottle of beer in the pub. Â Otherwise, choose a bottle (or bottles) to bring home with you. Â
Other than the beers (oh the beers!!), your options are limited to either wine or fanciful sodas and such (think top-end ginger beers, etc). Â I have not checked out their wine selection, but from what I hear, it's got plenty to choose from as well. Â Again, buy a bottle, pay to have it opened, or bring it home.
Taste something you like on tap? Â You can bring that home as well! Â Bring in your own growler (make sure it has the Surgeon General warning!!) and have it topped off, or buy a 64 or 32oz bottle right there. Â
Ambiance is nice. Â I can see where there might be some issue with wondering how to get served (do I simply go to the bar, wait at my table, or stand in line near the back?), but to me, it really was a non-issue.
Don't expect food. Â There might be a food truck out front, or there might not be. Â That said, get food and bring it along, no problem there!
Live music is coming! Â We'll see how it works here, but I'm pretty excited about the mix of fine beers and fine music. Â I just hope they keep the volume at a level that promotes the conversation that the open floor area seems to encourage.
Lastly, I can speak from experience that they have a very nice "lost & found". Â I left my sunglasses and was happy to find them waiting for me there the next day.
I'm already dreaming of my next trip... what oh what will be on tap then?!
Although this place is best suited for the younger crowd it was nice and reminded me of my home town of Portland Oregon. Good place for beer lovers and hipsters. Loved the floor and brick walls! No food served, but there is a food truck outside and you can bring the food in. Super smart business idea for both if you ask me!
Review Source:I went here on Saturday night when they had a food truck round up of sorts going on. It doesn't look like they serve food and I'm not sure they're planning to so I hope the food trucks keep showing up because everyone was bringing food from the trucks inside and enjoying it with their beers.
I liked the variety of beers they offer, especially that they have some local and some from other parts of the country. They changed the board while we were there so it looks like you may not be able to count of getting specific beers on tap when you come but if you are going to try out new things this is perfect. They didn't yet have any cask beer listed but there is a spot for it on the board so I'm looking forward to that eventually!
Only a few negatives - first, the service was kind of awkward. Staff would sometimes come around to ask you if you wanted anything but I got the impression you're supposed to go up to the bar and order. One of the staff came up to us when we were nearly finished with our flight of tasters and made a weird almost rude comment about needing the board back. I think she was trying to be funny but it didn't come across to us well. I think the awkward service can be attributed to them just opening recently. I'm sure they'll work out the kinks. The other negative was the table we sat at. It was basically a big slice out of a tree so it was oddly shaped and held up by metal saw horses. It wasn't comfortable to sit at but I did like that it was a large table and a few groups of friendly people were all seated at it so we had some nice conversation there. While I don't think I'll go out of my way to come to Tap & Bottle it is definitely a nice addition to the 4th Ave area.
Such a great concept, and even better execution! Â If you live anywhere near downtown / U of A / Midtown, make sure to stop in and check this place out. Â This is the kind of place that you want to frequent just because you selfishly want them to be around for you enjoyment!
It's kind of like a brewery in that you have a lot of great brews on taps and you can sample different kinds in flights and bring them home in growlers. Â What is awesome though is instead of one breweries beer selection, they have done a great job of selecting a variety of beers from various breweries!
Also, if like my girlfriend you are more of a wine drinker, you will not be disappointed. Â They have great wines on tap, or you can buy a bottle at retail price, crack it open and drink it there.
They don't have food, but you can bring in your own or have delivery drop it off at their place.
My one complaint was they didn't have a beer from the beer state, Wisconsin! Â I brought this two their attention, they were kind of shocked themselves, and asked me for suggestions, and told me they would have at least one in by the end of next week. Â Gotta love good service!
Tap & Bottle has only been open a day and has already topped my list of where to by good craft brews here in town. While you are drinking something you have never seen on tap  in Tucson before, you can pick up a few hard to find bottles and a couple of your trusty favorites to go. With the craft beer movement growing as it is in Tucson it's great to see a local shop with a lot of local breweries beer. I'll be here often for sure!
