Tap Room Sports Bar & Grill

This bar has a nice atmosphere, good selection of beers, and their food is good.  The address shown above says "Springfield", but they're in downtown Morton, just down the street from the train station.  

They've had a nice selection of beers on tap, from the standard budmillercoors, to Leffe (!!), Sam Adams, Victory, and a few other micros.  They also have a stage in the back, so I guess they may have a dj/bands play sometimes?  

Gotta knock a star off for a fairly limited food menu.  Not much besides a few apps, cheesesteak-y things, a few salads.  Would be a great menu if this were 1985, but, ummm, def. more variety in the menu is needed.

We thought we were going to see "The White Wall" band on Saturday night but they weren't there.. it was a cover band that was very good.. great horn section!  Food was good.. service was fantastic!  great waitress.. would definitely go back again!!

I've driven by the Tap Room a million times and have always meant to go in. I think they've been there since 6/12. So last night my friends wanted to go and hear band "52 Pick-up"  (Great band by the way)  When we first walked in, the door man didn't even ask us for ID. WT hell!? Even tho we're in our 60's ...how rude. Just kidding. Even tho the place wasn't full, there was a lot of 20 and 30 somethings crowded around the door. It was a little intimidating for a people our age to join in.  But I found the staff really accommodating. The bartenders were hustling but still found a moment to check in on us and even a little conversation when they could. Beer was good and cold and  had, in my opinion, a good selection. We went at 8 so we could get a bite to eat. C ordered a filet mignon sandwich and I ordered loaded fries. The 2 of us (don't forget, we're old) shared and still brought home a half of the sandwich which was excellent. Was it worth $12? I dunno. When the barkeep told me $19 for the food my eyes popped out ...huh? But since it satisfied both of us not so bad. (after all, we're NOT at Applebees)  The filet was small but excellent, good roll, crunch onion rings on it, and FF on the side. All our friends shared the FF's and the loaded fries slathered with cheese and bacon with sour creme on the side. It was OK, just the generic cheese a lot of places use.  When we were ready to leave, another bartender came over (Joe? A teacher) and asked if everything was ok, and then proceeded to take us on a tour of the place. It's rather a large place. There's a restaurant attached which was really beautiful. A great place for large groups, parties, rehearsal dinners, etc. I would totally rent out that space. We're looking forward to dinner at the attached restaurant "Amici" since I've heard from some of my foodie friends it was excellent.  Then the teacher bartender brought over the owner and he was really personable and welcoming.
   Jay, I love your reviews and agree with most of them, but  Ruby Tues?  RT late or in a pinch, however, a great place to get a good beer and ok food and ok salad bar and usually pretty good service.

So, Good friends, good tap beer, good music, nice owners and "help" what's not to love. I was pretty impressed with the place.

Going to Clam Tavern tonight and looking forward to it!  Another well-run place. Owner (Tony?) great.
