Great unconventional pizza. Crust, cheese, then sauce. It doens't matter which way you layer it, this is great pizza. Crust has great flavor and conistency, the sauce has a nice old world flavor and the cheese, well it's cheese. I have tried pizza in the greater NYC and Philadelphia area, this stands up to any I've had.
Review Source:Consistently delicious for the 15 plus years that my family and I have ordered pizzas from Gaetano's. I now live an hour away and I will make a special stop in when I'm in Delaware County just to bring it home. Everyone in the family wants one, so I can't leave without ordering a minimum of 4. I never last the entire hour drive without eating at least one slice in the car. Order extra for the best pizza breakfast--reheats perfectly in some foil in the toaster oven.
Notes: Their hours are limited. Cash Only. Closest ATM is at the convenience store near the Clifton Heights train station a few blocks down Springfield. Not free so make it a habit to stop at Wawa or your bank's ATM if you want to save on surcharges. The wait will be a minimum of 45 minutes. It's worth the hassle. This place does one thing and it does it very well, their local following would have a riot if they started changing things. Don't come for by-the-slice. Don't come for anything other than this family's perfect, unique, addictive, haunting (!) pizza.
Want. One. Now.
Love it. First time though, not so much. It's saucy and messy. Cheese on the bottom gives you a chewy bite - good cheese too, no grease. Doughy but enough bread to sop up spilled sauce. Fresh tomato sauce, sweet, not acidic. Â Always order half plain half pepperoni and green peppers. Peppers seem to be roasted before they go on the pie, making them sweeter than normal. Can only eat two slices and then I'm stuffed. But that means next day leftovers. Always go to the Clifton shop. Closes at 9. Â The best $20 you can spend.
