Please remove Roasted Cod from menu. Horrible frozen imported something called cod. We complained to waitress' response "there's no cod on Cape Cod anymore." Then don't offer the dish!
I also recommend soap & paper towels in restroom. Especially on a slow Friday nite in July. Looked like a failing restaurant that used to be very good.
This is a quaint restaurant tucked away in Truro. I've enjoyed coming here with my family over the years. We were a little bit disappointed with our last visit as the general ambiance of the place and level of attention wasn't quite up to par. It seems that when the owners changed over the course of the last year some of the rustic charm went with them. A few of the drinks are still really good, though we all missed the Campari based Joyride that they used to make. A lot of the dinner menu is the same, and their Fra Diavlo type entree with mussels and shrimp remains a summer classic -- one of my favorite dishes on the Cape.
Review Source:My sister, uncle and I went to Terra Luna for breakfast. The coffee was not hot, but was replaced. There was a lengthy wait for food to arrive. My sister ordered her bacon extra crispy. It wasn't, so was sent back. My Eggs Benedict was served cool, so it was returned. The chef stormed (not exaggeration) to the table. He had no apology at all. Back to the bacon... It was brought back charred black, totally burned. It was sent back. Next, the waiter brought the check. Notice I didn't say anything about my breakfast. When we asked, we were told the chef refused to make another for me.
I can't remember sending any food back ever before. This was absolutely bizarre!
I don't recall ever issuing a one star. I told the hostess at Terra Luna I would not give a bad review BUT when no one rectified things and so far my call has not been returned (will let you know if the manager returns my call) I decided I needed to share.
We were a group of local foodies who used to dine at Terra Luna years back. We had been 4-5 times oh, about 20 years ago. We had heard the amazing food and service was back so a group of 5 of us rode the 50 minutes from mid Cape to dine. We planned the dinner and date months ago and reserved a few weeks back. The staff were very kind. The bussers who appeared 1 hour into our meal to provide bread were sweet. The hostess tried to inform me well (when I approached her) about the problems. What else was great? The art work is lovely. The setting is rustic but tight and loud. The small garden is lovely. The menu in appearance is amazing. The wine list was great. Drinks were cold and delicious when they came (three of us got our first round at the bar but two waited 40 minutes for their drinks and we asked repeatedly for water as we were all parched. The water came 40 minutes later as well). Â So here's the rest..
I have been in food service 30 years. There were some significant flaws on this warm July 1 evening. The bartender was meticulous so much so, the wait for drinks was quite long. The waiter could not control this. They really need someone running a service bar for the wait staff OR a way for the waitstaff to serve their own beer and wine rather than wait while the bartender concocts a Side Car or other drink. Â The lovely bread I fondly remember from years back is gone and replaced is the standard restaurant fare Pain D'avignon type roll with nice olive oil. The rolls were crispy but stale. I tasted two to confirm it was not just my one roll. Â Our waiter took our order prior to the large table of 10 that arrived after us when I asked (but they were served first which in hindsight was a good idea as there were 3 small children at the table..last I looked when the entire restaurant was waiting for food, that entire table were on their phones and the children in adult laps looking quite hungry and tired.
Anywa, back to ordering. Our kind waiter confirmed my choice for a grilled squid app was perfect. I also chose the Sicilian Littlenecks with no meat. My app appeared and looked lovely. The actual squid turned out nearly impossible to cut and very gummy inside. It was a disappointment Our waiter never checked to ask how our meals were so I never gave any feedback. He cleared efficiently. I will note, the bus girl at the end of our meal did ask how we liked our meals. I told her mine was average. Â My pasta dish had about 10 little necks on a bed of al dente boxed boring pasta. The sauce was a typical marinara. Nothing special. My friend said his tuna was ok. My other friend LOVED her Flounder special. No one else was wowed. My friend said her rendition of Straw and Hay was not at all how it was presented in the menu. She was not happy.
At one point the entire restaurant was waiting for food. I was tired of sitting 2 hours hungry and hot so went outside to cool off. Passing thru the dining area I noted  only one table had dinners. I realized we were in for a long wait so went outside for 15 minutes to cool off. When I came back in I asked the hostess what was wrong. She said they had problems in the kitchen. She was deeply apologetic. I explained I understood things happen and would not give a bad review BUT I realized yesterday,  I had to write something in the event this is commonplace.
We arrived early at 6 45 for a 7 res and left close to 10. We wanted dessert but were fearful it would take an hour. When we left not ONE staff was around to thank us or say goodbye. Very odd experience. Our bill for 5 wines, 2 Gin and Tonics, 2 Margaritas, 2 Mojitos, 4 apps and 5 entrees was 264.00 before tip. I asked the person paying with their card (we put in card and cash) to tip 20% despite the course of the evening. I hope it was a one time experience but doubt we will chance it ...We planned this evening for months and left feeling quite disappointed. Lesson learned by me, stay home on pre 4th of July nights..dining out on Cape Cod can be very challenging during the holidays.
If I ran the place, I would have comped a dessert or drink. The manager or the hostess or our waiter could have told us what to expect. NOTHING was communicated until 9 PM, two hours into our dinner when I approached the hostess in the service area. I know the industry enough to know staff don't show up, equipment fails and what not but really....and then when the food arrived from bread to entrees, yuck. Thank goodness the drinks were cold and delicious.
I did call the restaurant yesterday and left a message.
Stopped to have dinner after officiating at Ptown wedding. Â It was a perfect experience. Â I had grilled sardines which were wonderful, but the Sicilian Littlenecks was undoubtedly the most delicious experience. Â The flavors were perfect - every bit as good as the food I had in Italy a couple of months ago, and every bit as good as my Mother used to make - and that's a real compliment.
Review Source:Love this place...sweet, elegant, rustic, and inviting all at the same time. Â We had dinner after sunset at the beach, and even though we weren't all dressed up, the lighting is such that everyone looks fabulous. Â ; ) Â Â Â Our dinner was deliciously prepared and I would highly recommend this restaurant for a special celebration or romantic dinner. Â Made our last night of our vacation on the Cape very special.
Review Source:Terra Luna had been a regular summer vacation destination until two years ago when the quality of the food plummeted. Â I can report that things have changed for the better foodwise. Â We heard that the original chef was back at the restaurant and sure enough the food was terrific. Â However, the service, particularly the attitude of our server spoiled the evening. True enough, the restaurant was slammed, but our server (Pablo) was rude and completely uninterested in performing his job.
Review Source:A nice & cozy feeling, with a refreshing menue. Had the roasted Cod , wonderful flavore & large portion. Artichoke pate for app , reminded me of a place in Italy we ate at last year. Â A little out of the way , but we felt it was worth it . Make reservations first , we had a early dinner & it seemed like the got a big crowd just as we were leaving. Great Drink menue also !!!
Review Source:Awful. If I could give this place negative stars, I would. It was so bad that we drove into Provincetown for dinner #2 when we left.
Bad service started out the evening, but the food is what really ruined our night, especially since this is THE place we'd been excited to eat at for our whole vacation.
So starting off, we made reservations and still waited 20 minutes for a table. OK, not too bad, but waiting 15 minutes for a glass of water and another 15 for some bread and wine was.
My boyfriends skirt steak w/ gorgonzola was putrid. I'm saying that I took a bite and wanted to spit it out. It was rubbery, undercooked and tasted rotten. Boyfriend asked for it medium and it came out rare. Boyfriend pointed it out to the waitress (who also let him cut it with a butter knife) and she just said "ohhhh sorry". Later he just let loose and told her it was awful and again, just a "sorry". It was something a kid might get served in a  grade school cafeteria, just thinking about it is making me nauseous.
For my meal... well we almost didn't end up eating here because I couldn't find anything that looked good on the menu. I finally half-heartedly decided on the spaghetti with sausage and littlenecks. Without the littlenecks.
The pasta was way undercooked than al dente, which is better than being soggy, but it was bordering on chewy.
Our bill came to a painful and unsatisfying $100 with tip. I was just lucky my boyfriend didn't go in the kitchen to school the chef before we left.
Terra Luna literally ruined our night. Until we decided to just drive into P-town and redeem out night with dinner somewhere else. Since we couldn't stomach our dinner here we were still plenty hungry for round 2.
Recently came here for the first time on vacation based on my guidebook's recommendation. It was end of June, so still early in the season for this area, and I was lucky they were open as they had a sign out front that said selected nights they were open. Call first, but my guess is later in the summer they'll be open every night. I was lucky enough to come on a night (Wed) where they were offereing a pre fix menu of 3 courses plus dessert for $29! The waitress told me that the portions were smaller than typical, but I thought it was just right. Excellent meal.
Review Source:Used to be great, now not so much. My daughter ordered a Cerviche which was inedible - just plain, dry rice with a tiny bit of seafood. Her scallops were off. I ordered roast chicken with "baby artichokes and gnocci". The gnocci was overcooked, and there were no artichokes that I could taste or see. My brother in law ordered the same - he got about an 1/8 inch of gravy and I got none. WTF?
Review Source:This is actually, aside from Victor's, the best restaurant in the outer Cape, hands down. First, it's cozy and adorable no matter what the weather. Second, it does not suffer in quality like so many other places around here. You've got a great wine list that features specially selected, not easy to get wines by the glass at prices that are absolutely reasonable. Third, it's a creative menu with well-plated and delicious food. It is the perfect place for a romantic dinner. If you want an excellent meal in a lovely little restaurant, there is nothing better for you out here than Terra Luna.
Review Source:I had a great dinner here but of course... I was drunk so the food tasted amazing.
I had a disappointing breakfast here but maybe I was cranky because it was the morning.
It's a cute place and you feel pretty good with yourself when you've found it because it's off the beaten path. Make a reservation for dinner and expect it to get a little crowded during the weekends for brunch.
