I go here often because the service is good, food is local, non-chain, neat old building, and food is always pretty good. They also have decent house wine for those who want to enjoy a glass with dinner and not pay too much or worry about selection. Treo has free valet too, plenty of parking but nice touch.
Review Source:One of the better non chains in the entire Toledo area. The wine list is probably the best in all of Toledo. The food is consistently good and the service good. Â All in all, one of the better choices - probably top five -- in all of the Toledo area. As one reviewer wrote, it does remind one of Ann Arbor - that is a plus especially for Toledo which is a town that simply does not know how to support free-standing non chain restaurants. Treo is a place you can go frequently and with the specials, experience fine dining without the attitude found in larger cites.
Review Source:Treo or a trio of options?
Featuring a lounge and a wine bar, Treo offers great alternatives to the main dining room.
Those who know me will gladly inform you that I take dining seriously. Seriously in the sense that unless some form of damage is done both on the caloric front and/or in a belly bursting manner, I refuse to call it an evening. Treo was no exception -- as my girlfriends and I graciously sampled the wide array of choices.
Menu items run the gamut of (phenomenal) chevre encroute and (noteworthy and hearty!) mussels for starters and (decent but overpowering with peppercorn) steak and (tasty yet slightly lacking in tenderness) veal saltimbocca di calabria. While the salad topped with Parisian dressing was an excellent lead in to my veal saltimbocca, I was sorely disappointed by the pasta du jour, which consisted of a bowl of limpid spaghetti with a dollop of tomato sauce devoid of flavor and spice. However, the banana bread pudding was a good redemption to the less than stellar accompaniment. Boasting a rich robust flavor of vanilla, caramel, and (obviously) banana, this was the other noteworthy item of the night.
Wine-wise, Treo admittedly has one of the most extensive selections in the area. The closest competitor would have to be Vinology in Ann Arbor.
As for service, there was no rudeness -- only a positive experience. Our server may have had the tendency to wander off before orders were placed or questions were asked (and disappearing at times), but with a full house, that was understandable.
All in all, a nice gem of a place for those looking for a relaxing dining atmosphere.
