It was "Date Night" and we decided to check out Tullycross Tavern since we've heard great things about them through my brother & his wife...
The dining area has a lot of natural light coming in , and is a welcome feeling , with large top to bottom windows....the atmosphere is nice and relaxing. Our Irish waitress was more than pleasant and talkative but NOT annoying.
I enjoyed their corned beef & cabbage dinner (though I wish they used a pressure cooker for the cabbage). Included on my plate were dill carrots....something that really tasted great!!! It was different, and I love restaurants that think outside of the box when it comes to putting together a menu with different combinations on it.
My wife enjoyed her chicken/pasta plate as well. We did not order any appetizers because our drinks came out quickly..and my wife LOVED her drink, a mix of a vanilla shake and margarita of some sort...you couldn't taste the alcohol and she loved it's sweetness..I had one of the beers (not a big beer guy) but enjoyed my room temp draft beer 16 oz.
You guys should go back and check this place out...Cute waitress's too if that helps!
Nothing special about this place. I had been there once a while back, wanted to give it another shot.
Huge problem: the floors are sticky. Through the bar, on the rug, in the bathroom - everywhere is sticky. It's been 48 hours since I was there, shoes are still making squeaky noises.
Beer is average. I had a five-beer flight, I only really liked one of them and this was the one beer they get from a distributor and don't make on their own - hmmmm...
Service was kinda ridiculous. We had a newer server, and although she didn't do anything BAD, I felt like she was trying to act like my best friend and not my waitress. She forgot some things, and made us feel slightly uncomfortable. Also swore a few times - I personally don't care at all, but I bet the manager wouldn't be happy to know that.
The legit only GOOD part about this place was my dinner. I got the TCT Mac N Cheese, and WOW was this entree amazing. Top 25 meals I've ever had, for sure. Mac and cheese with chicken cutlet, bacon and a little BBQ sauce. Nailed it on that.
Would MUCH rather just pick up a take-out order of the mac and cheese and eat in the parking lot - that way I don't deal with average beer, weird waitresses and STICKY FLOORS.
I have wanted to stop at Tully Cross since I was presented an empty growler to fill about 2 years ago.
Stopped in for a Saturday afternoon burger and a beer. The IPA was super, more of a west coast style. Very hop forward was just what I was looking for. I was the only one sitting in the bar so service was prompt and very helpful.
I ordered just the basis burger and rare, the bartender sent it back for me because it was not cooked properly (yes she received a nice tip) Unfortunately the fries must have just sat while they cooked a new burger, they were dry and soggy at the same time. Burger itself was super, I was happy that the bartender was attentive to my requests.
I will second another post about the ground outside the bathroom, it was quite sticky. I mean I've been to some "wild, trashy, underground" bars in the past certainly in college but that floor was awful.
I would go back the beer was good and other than that nasty bathroom entrance my experience was what I had hoped.
